I used to manage fleet vehicles in my old job so I always had leverage to use for repairs on my own cars. Now that I dont manage a fleet, I was worried about finding fair and honest mechanic. Friends referred me to Todd and tech auto and Ive been very happy.

I was recommended to this mechanic by a friend. My car wouldnt start, so I called and asked if I could have my car towed there to be repaired. He said yes, so I had my car towed there the same day. He said hed call to let me know it got there safely; he never did. I called a few days later to ask for an update; I never got an update. I called and left voicemails about once a week for 4 weeks asking for updates. I never heard back from him. I drove by to check on my car a couple times. Every time, it was sitting exactly where the tow truck had left it. Hes completely unresponsive. If its going to take over a month to get around to looking at my car, thats fine, but tell me. Dont totally ignore my calls. After 4 weeks of this, I got fed up and had my car towed to Keating Automotive. The tow truck driver told me another customer of his had a similar problem, waiting 7 weeks to hear anything back. Its very unprofessional. Keating, on the other hand, diagnosed it a few hours after it got dropped off and were very helpful. If you want to get your car back within a month of dropping it off, dont take it here!

I can honestly say that he is the most down to earth, honest, punctual and all around awesome mechanic I have ever worked with beside my cousin. I was asked to bring my car in before 9:30am which my son did, my son explained what was wrong with the car and showed them pictures of my dashboard messages, they verified the number to contact me and said they would contact me. I waited till towards the end of the day but no calls came. I started calling and sent emails yet no response. On the third day after calling severally each day, someone eventually answered my call and was very rude, he said the car was just dropped off and they did not know whats about and have been busy with many things. I reminded him that I was personally in contact and was asked to bring the car, I asked him about my incessant calls and emails that received no responses, he told me to hold on and dropped the call. My car sat with them for 3days without them reaching out to me and all I got was rudeness. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism.

Worst service I have ever received, at an auto place or otherwise. I took my car there in September 2010 to fix the steering column, on the advice of the good reviews here and elsewhere. It took them over a week to look at it, two weeks to find a column they thought would work, and two and a half weeks to tell me it didnt fit (actually I had to go there in person to find that out - they never picked up their phone when I called them, and they never took the initiative to call me). I made one phone call, to an out of state shop I trust, and got a steering column shipped to them within two days. They put it in, but forgot to change the oil and rotate the tires like I asked. It took another few days for them to do that. All told, I got my car back seven weeks after I dropped it off. Seven weeks! Its my only car; fortunately Im a grad student and can walk to school, but it was terrifically inconvenient to do all sorts of other things.And... after all that, it drove horribly (shook from side to side at any speed over 40 mph), so I took it back to the out of state shop I trust. Turns out that the left brake was frozen “on” – probably as a result of sitting in the Tech Auto lot all fall without being driven. Now the car drives fine, although, ironically, when Tech Auto put the steering wheel back on it wasn’t quite straight, and the air bag is also disconnected. I will never go back.

Great experience! Todd was honest, willing to take the time to find me the best deal possible and to stay open late because Im a veteran (not that I took him up on that-but nice to know some people respect our military). Service was excellent and my car runs like new at 104,566 miles. I see why they are so busy and will return.

I love this place! My boyfriend found tech auto somehow and they are the most reliable, honest, and inexpensive place Ive ever been. I always feel at though i can trust Todd and his team when I go to tech auto and they never give me the run around. Forever a fan of this place. Todd is one of the most hardworking and genuine beings on this planet and his loyal base of customers speak for it. He always has a full shop, and will do his best to address your car needs as quickly as he can (that week) and his prices are the absolute best in town.

Todd is the owner here, and he is the most honest and talented mechanic you are ever likely to meet. On just one issue, a leaking fuel line, he saved me approximately $3000 from a quote from the car dealership. They wanted to replace perfectly sound brake lines and the entire exhaust system (for access) and quoted $3300. The fuel line issue was repaired by Todd for $280.

Tech Auto is absolutely the most honest, most trustworthy and highest quality auto repair shop my wife and I have ever experienced. I bought a used vehicle from an owner without realizing a leak from the brake system of this vehicle. On my way back, the brake fluid were all gone and the brake completely stopped working, which almost killed me and hurt other drivers on the road! Luckily I managed to stop the vehicle on the grass land right beside the road without hurting anybody. The vehicle was towed to Tech Auto and the owner inspected it. He found that the areas underneath the vehicle were extremely rusted and a brake line was installed in an illegal way, causing the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive. The life threatening situation can happen anytime when I drive this vehicle. So he suggested me to return this vehicle with defected brake system to the owner and ask for the refund. He didnt even charge me anything for inspecting the vehicle. My wife and I thank him and his fellow a lot for their professionalism, expertise, honesty and high quality job. I will definitely recommend Tech Auto to any friends and people that need automotive service.

Tech Auto was recommended to me by three different people, all of them living in different towns. I figured Id give them a try, and Ive never looked back.Before going, you need to know a few things. They are always busy, and its likely because they are one of the most trustworthy mechanics in New Haven County. There is not always someone manning the phones. Leave a voicemail, send an email, show up in person if you must. Just realize you may not get someone on the phone immediately.But the service here is second to none, the mechanics all seem to actually known what theyre doing (unlike my previous dealerships...), and the prices are extremely reasonable.

I moved from out of state and after some research decided on Tech Auto. I have had consistently great service from them. They are exceptionally busy and may not always call back, but this is not a set back. Just take the initiative to call them and youll see that its not a result delay in service. They are honest, humble, personable, laid back and trustworthy. Most importantly, they are skilled and knowledgable. Ive had them do minor repairs for no charge. I also drive an older car and they have given me advice on whether its actually worth putting money into it to fix all the issues, recommended the best route for safe travels, and have always been willing to collaborate on whats in my best interest and not whats going to make them the most money. I always recommend them to friends and they all have had the same experiences. I wont take my car or any car in the future elsewhere.

This is the only mechanic I will use in the area for anything besides oil changes and tire rotations. Why? Because theyre honest and their prices are as low as you can find.Just today, he saved me over $500. How? Because the mechanics at a national chain (whom I had change my oil) said I needed certain repairs. I took it to Tech Auto for a second opinion. For no charge, they looked at my car and determined that it didnt need any work done to it.If you want an honest mechanic who knows what hes doing, go to Tech Auto.UPDATE (March 19, 2015): Ive now used Tech Auto for about 5 years, and still have no complaints. I shopped around for price on a timing belt replacement, and they couldnt be beat. And they got it done on the same day (as with all of the other repairs Ive sent their way).

Had the brake fluid flushed in a Toyota Highlander and the serpentine belt changed in a Nissan Versa. Friendly service and fair pricing. I will use Tech Auto again.

Seemingly nice guy. Never really tried to investigate what was wrong with my car. Didn’t get a call about my car for weeks. After what must have been my 10th call they told me nothing was wrong with my car at all. Brought it to another person who told me in less than 30 minutes that there were multiple things wrong with the car. Really feel like they wasted my time and probably did not look at my car for more than a second. Never go here especially if you’re a college student. He will not respect your business.

Great Experience for both quality and cost of service, this means a ton of other customers come like bees to honey. A lot of other customers results in turn around time will be a few days for significant repair work to be done. Worth waiting for though.

Great service honest quotes, great home town feel

I went here a few months ago because my battery terminal rusted past the point of no return. I brought to the shop and had it fixed (new one put on) for no more than $20. Started to drive away when I noticed the lights in my dash were not working. Went back to the shop and they found a blown fuse which they replaced for no additional charge. This indicates to me that they are honest technicians who want to help their customers, and arent only in the business to make a buck. I will be back..

So I thought would be good idea to have my collage age son have first experience picking and dealing with a Mechanic I walked him through what to ask for far as price time etc and was aware of all dealings he was having with owner, my son brought car down but never could get price on what would cost to fix car finally after 3 weeks I went to shop and ws told another week was just altenator so after r a month was told that there was indeed a oil leak and he really dindt want to fix he gets a lot of gravey work and that he didnt want to take care of the job was a pain so after having car a month he tells us to pick up car. owner said had to take gravey work so basically we were put off after finally getting call car was still not fixed said he really didnt want to fix, was a good experience on all the things to look for to avoid for a lifetime dealing with a mechanic who gives you the run around to many other choices dont do it not worth the risk!
