I dont know about all these 1 star reviews, but this place was perfectly fine for me. I dropped my car off the other night cause I had a flat. They called at 10am gave me a quote and ordered the tires, called again at noon and told me they were done. Staff was all pleasant to me and the price was fair.Dont be mislead by the people posting bad reviews because they are incredibly picky or wont wear a mask. This is a place that will get the job done.

For the store to have the founder of the companys quote hanging on the wall that says I believe fundamental honesty is the keystone of business they sure take pride in ripping people off. How you going tell me that getting a standard brake service for just my FRONT tires is going to cost me $900. An absolute joke this place is, never will go here again. Actually laughable. Made appointment online for the next day. Received email confirmation of the appointment. Show up at the appointment time and they claim to have called and said they have no appointments. Said he told me, yet no voicemail was left then said oh well it would not let me leave a voicemail. Whatever… nice story man. Oh have used Firestone for 10 years but stay far away from Firestone on Dixwell in Hamden!

The crew here helped us out of a jam when we unexpectedly broke down on a trip.They were professional and courteous during a stressful time for us.They were able to fix our car and get us back on the road safely.We had actually passed two stations on the same road on the way to Firestone, but they turned us away. My daughter’s headlight needed to be replaced - went to another establishment by a recommendation ... they were unable to replace the headlight and the person who helped me was down right rude. Called Firestone and explained my situation that I drove from Long Island to get the headlight replaced before the snowstorm. They told me to come in and were able to get the headlight replaced! Thank you Nick! Highly recommend Firestone and have posted on the Quinnipiac parent page that Firestone came through in a pinch!

I had an appointment for my car because it was shaking at higher speeds on the highway I was seeking to get my wheel alignment and balance checked. Rodney at Firestone was so honest with me and told me to first go get a carwash and see if that fixes the issue. Lo and behold the shaking is gone and I feel much safer. I am a college student with not alot of extra money to fix my car at the moment and with his complete honesty, he really helped me out. Because of this I will be back for future car work.

Well, what can I say.Booked an appointment to have 4 of my own tires mounted. Showed up 5 minutes early, tire change took 2 1/2 hours. I dont fault anyone here, I chose to wait with the car, but as someone who had an appointment and had said I was waiting I was somewhat annoyed.Left and go home. Realize that night that my (directional) drivers side front tire is mounted backwards. Pretty tough to do given it says all over it which side to mount which way, but accidents happen. Call back the next day to have it remedied and am told to come in in a couple of days. I say no to that and just show up, because at this point I want it fixed.Well, the manager was apologetic and very kind. My car was taken in very quickly and I was on my way out within the hour. The manager did give me a bit of a hard time over the review that I had already left through Firestone Customer Service, which is fair as I hadnt given them the chance to resolve the issue, but also reasonable given the fact that it wasnt done right until I showed up and told someone to fix it.Lo and behold, I wash the car today and all of the tire lubricant used by Firestone stays on the wheels. My immaculately-maintained wheels are now smeared with lumps, dirt and grit. I went there to have four tires mounted, and instead I paid $100 to waste two days of my weekend and to ruin my wheels. Goodbye Firestone.

Had to get my Bridgestone Blizzaks winter tires on ASAP. I was out the door in just about 1 HR. New tires & alignment. Paul was very helpful & informative. Gotta love em! 5 stars!!

This place is an absolute rip off stay away

Gotta admit, wasn’t sure what to expect when I arrived here. Only came because I needed a free brake inspection (along with a $50 coupon attached) than to pay out of pocket at the Audi dealership just for them to find out what was wrong with my brakes. Since my Carshield package couldn’t be covered under warranty, came to Firestone as an alternative. Now I wasn’t trying to spend too much but rather a reasonable amount for the exact same service overall. I give them a 5 star because not only they were honest, they took my car in the same day and did the job. They first inspected what the issue was first then called me. Once they’ve gave the quote estimate, I was very satisfied and content in what needed to be repaired and replaced. The customer service was excellent and I would definitely come back again to get my car serviced

Got a set of tires about a month ago, I had an issue with them so Nick had me come down to take a look. He and his crew rectified the problem in a timely manner. The staff is always great and has no problem answering questions and even showing how a part works so you understand whats wrong when theres a problem; they never make you feel rushed or talked down to. Great service!

I’ve been a loyal customer for years and was leading the second generation there. I was taking my daughter there to get new tires on her first car. I didn’t have a mask on (legit medical, doctors note, the whole nine yards). The jack—- at the desk lost his head yelling to wear a mask. I tried to calmly explain to him and he interrupted, yelling about a mask. At one point he grabbed the keys and it appeared he was about to throw them at me. My daughter was clearly upset, so to de escalate the situation I told him I would go outside and call him, I asked for his number. He wouldn’t even give me the phone number to call him. It’s a shame because the mechanics do a fine job but I’m a Town Fair customer from now on after that type of treatment.

Great prices & service. I got an oil change and they even changed a burnt-out brake light. They even advised me to get new tires (with a quote) but no high-pressure sales. I went on a Sunday so Id recommend calling a day before and reserving a spot.

Went here for a Front end alignment after i replaced my shocks. Very professional and car rides very smooth.

Very poor service. Made an appointment for a specific service and when I came they just said sorry we dont do this you have to go to the dealer even though I clearly discussed the issue with the customer service agent who took my order on the phone.

This Firestone has always been a great shop. I have taken all of my vehicles there. The staff is courteous and straight forward with pricing. Cars are done on time, and done right the first time. Buying tires with them was also great, they matched prices and gave us discounts without asking for them. Overall great service and a good price.

This review is a bit long just because of how grateful I am to the Firestone employees.My car broke down 3 hours from home and I had my dog with me. Firestone was great. They let me sit with my dog in the lobby while I waited and even brought him some water.The issue was transmission so they couldnt help but they offered to call Enterprise for me. I went to PepBoys because I have Hertz rewards but left almost immediately because of how rude the PepBoys employee was to the customer in front of me. I went right back to Firestone who called Enterprise for me.They didnt charge me for the check since they didnt do anything besides the scan. They also held my car a couple of days while I figured out what to do.What was a rough experience was so much better thanks to Firestone. I highly recommend them.

Took care of an emergency tire repair. Was able to work comfortably in the waiting area, repair was taken care of quickly despite having to have new tire delivered from another store. Price was fair and service appropriate to issue.

This place is my new car services shop for all my vehicles. I even changed the dealers service for them because of their ease to do business, comparable/competitive prices, honesty and friendliness. I havent had any issues with these guys yet and I hope it stays like that for long time.

Today I needed an oil change. The manager Pawel explained a few things I needed to do this Summer also which was helpful. He was helpful and polite and in general the place is very clean and organized. I would return and I recommend it highly! It is a very well-run facility but I know sometimes it might get busy.

My experience with them has been excellent so far. I am so impressed by their service. The associate Nick goes above and beyond to help every time I am there. He is well experienced and knows his job. I Do not recommend this place for anyone thats not aware of there vehicles problem! if you tries to take your vehicle for diagnose, firs they charge u $125 where most places diagnose without cost..then they will say you need to change this and that when its not needed.. very shady crooked places with managers told by owners to rip customer off for extra bucks...anything for few extra dollars!Never go here..!

I have been a Firestone customer for almost 15 years but Im never stepping foot inside another firestone again. I was reasonable when a tech didnt tighten my lug nuts down and my wheel came off back in 2015. But the tires are junk, but worst of all the customer service is trash. Thats why the Hamden store is empty on a monday morning. Cancelling my credit card right now. Thanks but no thanks

I usually don’t write reviews, only when I experience exceptionally good or exceptionally bad service. Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience this morning in this place. I went to this place to get a flat tire fixed. They told me that I have a worn out tire and regardless of the service, I need to replace them. I asked if he can fix the tire or not, he responded “I cannot fix tires that I am not supposed to”, which made me confused because he did not clearly explain to me that “the tire was not repairable.” He immediately offered me to buy a new tire and when I asked for the repair again, he kept saying “I cannot because I am not supposed to.” He later took me inside the garage and showed me the condition of the tire. He said he can only fix the flat if the puncture is on the rib of the tire (which it was). I showed him the puncture (on the rib), and asked him “you cannot fix that?” He immediately shouted to another employee “Alright, he doesn’t understand! Open the door and get the car out!,” which was an extremely rude attitude towards a customer and made me sad. I immediately went to another shop with very friendly employees and got the tire fixed with 1/4 of the price, which supported my theory that the tire was repairable. The guy at Firestone clearly tried to sell me a new tire and refused a repair and when I insisted on repair he got mad.I have been to this place before and they have been so nice until my recent experience. I am NEVER going back to this place and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place anymore.

Mediocre customer service

It is just so refreshing to come to this Firestone and KNOW that our cars ( 4 in my family )are being well serviced and maintained. I am 66 years old and have been to many auto repair shops in my life and KNOW that trusting in an auto shop should be the #1 reason to have your car serviced at a particular shop. This place has my trust and confidence. Thank you Nick, Pawel, Eric, Brett, Jose and all the people that work at The Firestone on 2500 Dixwell Ave in Hamden CT.

After having an inspection done to my car, I was told that I needed a new strut because one of them were really bad. I was quoted a price of $1500 which didnt sit right with me. I knew what a strut was and knew that it shouldnt be that much. ($1500 for one strut? No way!) After leaving, I looked up the struts for my car and saw that they were going for $65 and up for both front sides. Now Im no mechanic but I was thinking why would anyone change only one side. Having two different struts might make the car unbalanced and cause damage to one or both of the struts. My next thought was to choose which struts I wanted. I was going to get both done. I ended up choosing struts made by Monroe (a more expensive but affordable brand) @ $125 each bringing the total to $250. Went to a small business mechanic shop, and showed him the struts to get an installation price before I bought them and he said $330. I asked $330 each and he said no for both. I was shocked. Thats $555 for both and to have them both installed, yet Firestone was trying to sell me one installed for $1500. Been going to Firestone for years and I will never step foot in this place again. Find yourself a small business mechanic and get your car done with them. Thats my advice

Bought a set of tires after an unfortunate flat. Not a week later and I get another flat. Paul takes the care in immediately for diagnosis has the car ready in hours and even garages in during the storm when I was unable to pick it up.Paul is the benchmark of professionalism and customer care. This place is the chik-fila of auto care places! Their customer service is amazing. I didnt feel pressured or intimidated. The staff was very patient and understanding. They even helped me get home because I had groceries in my car. I was just gonna take an uber but they volunteered to drop me off. Im extremely impressed with their thoughtful approach. AMAZING!

I have been using firestone for as long as I can remember even before I moved to CT. In the last decade or so I have experienced only two incidences wherein I have felt that I have been treated extremely poorly as a customer and today was one of those days at the Firestone store at Dixwell Ave. at Hamden plaza. Firstly, I found my car damaged at pick up with a clearly visible scratch on the front bumper which they won’t accept. Then when I complained about it I was verbally and physically intimidated by the people working there. I called 911 to find out that they had as well to intimidate me further. In the end I had no choice but to accept the damage to my car and leave the place as told. I have never felt more insulted and belittled by anyone specially a service provider. My recommendation would be: AVOID USING THEIR SERVICES AND IF YOU DO GO IN PLEASE TAKE TIME-STAMPED PICTURES OF YOUR CAR BEFORE LEAVE IT WITH THEM.

Oscar and James and the rest of the Hamden staff are INCREDIBLE employees of Firestone. Ive run into some issues with other Firestones before, but I will now ONLY go to this Hamden location. The deference between the two was customer service, the Firestone in Hamden explained in great detail exactly what was wrong with my car and what they were doing to fix it, whereas other Firestones just give me a bill and say pay up. Oscar and James and their staff who I didnt get their names made me comfortable and confident on their abilities to work on my car and I thank them for all of their continuous great work and I look forward to coming back for new tires shortly.

Two weeks ago, I wrote a negitive review because I was mad, I had a problem with my alignment and it took them a long time to fix it, when I left it was done right, they never gave up on it till it was right. Paul also told me about the age and condition of my tires and recomended that i should get new ones, I didnt listen to him and well 2 weeks later I was back ! Paul was right the tires were in bad shape ( bought them used on line ) Paul gave me a great price even after my review . They were backed up from the storm and they got me in and back on the road in a reasonable amount of time . I would recommend Paul and or Firestone to anyone needing help with there vehicle.Thank You!

I bought an unlimited tire alignment always quick and friendly service

I hit a pothole that bent my wheel and caused a slow leak in the tire. I was in a panic because I had to drive about 300 miles to a conference and I couldnt find a single place that was open on Sundays. I finally saw that Firestone was open, called them to see if they could help and they told me to come by. They fixed my car in 10-15 minutes and didnt charge me an arm and a leg. I cant say enough great things about this place! I recommend it to anyone and I will be back myself for any future services.

Waited over two hours for two tires and lug nuts! Giving a discount to an already inflated price doesnt count! Customer service needs to improve. Only giving 2 stars because, one of a few places open on Sunday.

Had one oil change with a car that wasnt mine at the time and it only costed $30.Got my own that needed an oil change and 1) they wanted $100 for it and 2) upon the oil change I had smoke and a strong smell, I complained and was told my car was junk and I ought to just get another one. It got fixed by someone else and I got my money back.

Women are taken advantage of. Online quote for 2 tires and the works (alignment Balancing warrantees fees tax ex) $218 out the door. I made the apt in between a double shift at noon the next day. Once its on a lift the quote almost doubles to $389. I flip out and tell them Im not paying that I will pay for the 2 tires n thats it. I end up getting my car back 2 and a half hours later paying $235 still over my qoute. I could have gotten them done quicker and cheaper at PEP BOYS. I chose firestone because of extras and ended up with nothing but hostile feelings. NEVER AGAIN!!

I got a flat tire right after finishing my morning shift at work. I changed it out for the spare and called the nearest Firestone - this one, as it happened. I told the man on the phone my situation - I was going to replace my tires in a few weeks but one of them was punctured and I had to get back to work in a few hours. He assured me that I could have 4 tires purchased and installed in that timespan.The staff was very helpful! I mentioned that I average about 10,000 miles a month, and he made some recommendations for me. I ended up purchasing a set of Bridgestone DriveGuard tires that were on sale, and they had me all set and on my way just in time to get back to work. And all of this without an appointment!

Stand up guys. I had a different Firestone rip me off earlier in the day and these guys fixed all of my problems for the $20 cost of the diagnosis.

They hid a $125 charge they always knew was going to be present in the final bill from their initial quote. Went in to get AC looked at and their initial quote didn’t include the price for actually checking it, which they sprung on us at the very end. Unprofessional and inexcusable.
