The owner exemplified customer service that made me want to spend more money than I planned. He took his time to go through styles, size and what fit me. If you read this review go in and buy something, if its a pair of boots, a pair of pants or anything...LETS SUPPORT HIM!!

Oh my god, DO NOT SHOP here! Any positive reviews have to be fake. The owner appeared in the doorway and asked me what size and brand I wanted. When I said I’d like to look at the selection, he stated that he’s open for buyers, not lookers and he’s not going to waste his time to provide entertainment! As previous reviews indicated, he has to be the rudest person I’ve ever met. Something is seriously wrong with this person. Please don’t go there!

Apparently he has never heard of a factory defect. Ive bought 4 pairs of the same boots here in the past, had an issue with pressure points in the ankle with the latest. He would not exchange for another pair, or even sell me a different pair. Stated I should see a doctor because theres no chance anything could be wrong with his boots. Surprising hes still in business, probably wont be for long.

Seriously looking for cowboy boots. Entrance for cowboy boots is locked with a sign saying go to the other door. When I asked to look at cowboy boots, store clerk asked if I was serious because he doesn’t have time or the employees for people that are just looking to try on and walk out. He asked what I was willing to spend. Said I didn’t know until I saw something I liked. He obviously didn’t notice the Fry boots I was wearing and clearly doesn’t need my business. I did not see anyone else in the store and finally said, I guess I should just go look somewhere else then? He said yeah good idea. I have never experienced such a thing in my life! He just lost a few hundred dollars in sales for sure because I’m leaving for Nashville in a week and seriously want new boots. I believe in supporting local business first but I will travel as far as possible from this store before I ever buy anything there again. (Yes I have bought boots for our family before)

I decided to give this place a try today. When I first walked up to the door there was a note on the door that said “be back in 5 minutes” so I decided to go sit in my car and wait. After about 20 minutes they finally opened the doors up and I saw other customers walk into the store. When I got up to the door I pulled on it and it was locked, the owner then opened the door and rudely asked me what I wanted, I was surprised by his question as I could not tell if he was serious or joking, I said I was here to shop for some new boots, he then proceeded to awkwardly look me up from head to toe and then told me I wasn’t allowed to shop in his store and slammed the door in my face. I stood there in disbelief for several second because I couldn’t believe that just happened. If I would’ve read all the negative reviews before I stopped there I wouldn’t have been as surprised.

I bought a great pair of boots their today, good old fashion customer service. The owner was very helpful and didn’t bug me while I looked around. He answered all my questions which helped me make an informed decision.Great store for the working individual, I will refer all of my friends that need work boots and work wear.Great brand name items at reasonable prices.Family owned business, I give them hugh credit for keeping the doors open in this competitive shopping world. I like to be able to see, touch, and try on before I buy and this is the place to go !!!I say shop local, shop small businesses, shop family owned businesses. This is in part how we make America great again!!!!!!!I am a small business owner, women owned business and I was referred by another small business owner to this store. The more we support one another the better we feel, trust me !

Recently found this mom and pop store and it has quickly become our family boot store. You will love it too, cant be the quality and prices. What makes it a real gem for me is the way they speak to my boys, when we left my youngest said I should tell everyone how nice he is, I felt like I was talking to Papa. This should be your family store too.

This store and the owner is incredible! Support local small owned businesses and this is exactly what that is! I went there with my two younger children, and basically tried on the whole entire store. The owner was beyond helpful and more than patient with me and my active 3 year old. He helped size my feet just to double check the sizing of the width and was able to order me a pair of boots! This store has quality boots from work boots to riding boots, even cowboy boots! This is the only place my husband and I go for boots!!! Totally recommend to anyone and everyone who wants a solid pair of boots!

Steve was great. Great sense of humor, said it like it was and gave my buddy a great deal on his Chippewas. Steve was Very knowledgeable and old school. I really like supporting a local business such as him. Too many companies that sell garbage and undercut busineseses with mass produced Chinese junk. All my tools are made in America so are my boots Ive been wearing for years and years that keep me warm dry and put food on the table. Thanks Steve Ill be in again soon and send you plenty of friends and family!

Good service From a family owned and operated business. Went in and knew I needed a new pair of boots for work (Welder). If you need uninsulated boots this is the only store that stocks them on the self. It is a ask for help store no self service he doesnt want his stock all over the place. Nice guy that has a system that works well for him. If you ask for it he can have his hand on it in a few seconds. I also got a few pairs of carhartt flannel lined jeans. He cut me a great deal I paid cash. Thanks buddy. Ill be back a few more time to build up the winter work wear.

The owner of this place is probably the rudest person I have ever met. God forbid if you say that you are just looking right now & dont say that you WILL be buying something.Unless you look, how do you know if you want to buy. He went on to say that he was not going to let me into that part of the store because I was just looking and I was a woman who, as he said, the women that come in turn their nose up to him. (Hmmm. I wonder why). In other words it sounds like we are all snobs, as far as hes concerned. Too bad for him. I may very well have bought some boots from him but it didnt happen & wont. Dont bother going in unless youre ready to be insulted.

I went into the store for the first and last time today. I have never in my 50+ years ever been treated so rudely by an owner of a company. At first I thought he was joking, but he confirmed to me that he was not. I was going to purchase boots from him even if it meant him ordering them for me. His exceptional rudeness towards me and my husband prevented that. I would rather go barefoot than ever purchase anything from this establishment

This sudden uptick in positive reviews has to be the owner trying to hide all the truthful negative reviews by having his friends and family leave positive comments. Wow---This guy (Steve) is not a very friendly person. Was looking for a pair of Scout Boots, told me they were junk and he doesnt carry them. Hum, lets see, a buddy of mine bought a pair there 15 years ago and was looking to replace them.. FYI, dont mention that you ever purchased a pair of boots online. Im not kidding, the dude has a handwritten sign basically stating he doesnt want your business if you shop online. .My advice, spend your money somewhere else, where your business will be appreciated.

I read the reviews about New England Boot Company. I am not a friend of Steve by any stretch.I don’t believe that Steve is unfriendly. He is definitely is not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy and he isn’t going to kiss your butt. When I walked up he was sweeping the front of his store. He greeted me and I returned the greeting. When I explained that I needed some “good work boots.” He asked me what I meant by that. I explained that my boots had fallen apart after one year. At that point he sat down and said that I might as well leave his store. When I inquired as to why, he told me that my expectations were too high. My point being, this is a springboard for a conversation. We discussed what I wanted. He was very matter of fact about it. Some points I agreed with, other points I did not.Suffice to say our conversation lasted maybe three minutes. He had found me a pair of Red Wing Shoes. I tried on the shoes and I was out of his store within five minutes. He gave me the receipt I needed for my company reimbursement. Without asking I might add.For what it’s worth, here is what I believe is happening. Steve is an older gentleman. If you’re under fifty, you may or not remember the “good old days.” In the 1970s and early 80s, there were no big box stores. The only ones were Costco, Woolworth / Woolco, K-Mart. You had to drive all the way into a town that had one of these stores, because there wasn’t one in every town. Now you fast forward to the mid 1980s. Wal-Mart shows up. 1990s Sams, Venture, Target, etc. Then in the late 1990s early 2000 online showed up.I am not speculating as to what another customer’s intentions are. This is merely an educated guess on my part.I believe that his time was wasted so many times from people coming to his store to shop. To preview the merchandise, just to turn around and buy it online somewhere else. When this happens, it is done quite literally on his dime. Remember, it costs money to own a storefront. If you’re ultimately going to buy it online, at least have the decency give him the initial sale. After all, it was his inventory that “sold” you the product.I’m sure customers have attempted to haggle with him saying that whatever company has whatever boot cheaper. His small business simply cannot compete with large conglomerates. He simply does not have that kind of buying power. There are other reasons why the large corporations can sell cheaper. Most of those products are made custom for a particular company. They cut corners to save money. The cheaper product is probably not the same. Even though it looks just like the more expensive boot.Dont judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes. Then youll be a mile away and youll have his shoes.Cheers!

Owner seem okay at the beginning, however things turned weird. First, he made fun of my accent, which I thought it was a joke. Then he offered my boyfriend to measure his feet, but just threw the scale close to him. Later on, he kept throwing at him the boots he wanted to try. We paid and left, then read the reviews and everything made sense. We felt so DUMB that we helped this a-hole. Please dont support this guy; I can only wonder which kind of stuff had to happen to him to be like that.

Ignore the previous two reviews, this place is amazing. Top quality, well-oiled and all-around efficient store. The man running it isnt a bubbly, happy-go-lucky guy because this isnt your grandmas store, this is a store for the working man.Know what you want when you go there, have the proper information ready so he can do his job (which is getting you what you need), read his signs and follow his rules! (this is his store, if you dont like it, go somewhere else.)Every other store like this that Ive been in has a bunch of clueless adults/kids working in it -- go there if you want bubble-happy and useless support. Come here if you want down-to-business, no-bull quality and education.Ill be buying all my work boots, work clothes and the like from this guy as long as hes around.

I will never shop there again. Bought my husband a pair of bib pants. They were one size to small. Went back to change them 2 week days in a row. Store was closed. All the signs said open and another sign said call me. I Called number on the door and got hung up on. Day 3 he calls back I go to the store he starts yelling at me in parking lot, because I told him this was no way to run a business when he hung up on me. He was swearing and says what your GD husband to lazy to come in to be fitted? He called me names. I have never been talked to like that. I went home and filed a complaint with Carrharrt customer service. they suggest buying their items on line. This man is ignorant very poor customer service. A real man of the town. An after hours fundraiser was held at a nearby establishment to raise money for an in town firefighter battling cancer. The whole town pulled together for the occasion...the whole town minus one I should say. The owner was vigilant, waiting in his vehicle for people to park in the oversized parking lot. As they would try to leave he would approach them and tell them to move. Taking it one step further, if one was missed he would call the establishment where he fundraiser was being held and tell the owner a car would need to be moved.

If I could give 0 stars I would....this owner is EXTREMELY RUDE AND CONFRONTATIONAL (with 2 woman and 2 kids I may add!)Met us at the door and asked if he could help us, seemed he just got back from a break so...so far so good....well... as he let us in and closed the door behind us (I looked at my sister and let her know I had an uneasy feeling) we said we wondered if he was open cause it was dark ..he proceeded to say he would turn on the lights but asked if we were going to help pay 1/2 his electric bill...We laughed and joked but it became VERY clear soon after that he was definitely NOT JOKING...when my 15 year old nephew said he was looking for Chippewa Loggers, guy replied of course and began to show us the way....wanted to measure kids foot and when he said he was just wanted to look (first) he basically told him looking doesnt pay the bills.Seriously...How can you decide what/if to buy without LOOKING FIRST?!?!?!then he asked (again a 15 year old) ..do you shop online? ....NOT.... DO YOU BUY BOOTS ONLINE? And of course my nephew responded that he does sometimes buy things online the owner TOLD US TO LEAVE AND WALKED AWAY stopped asking or answering any questions! (I was looking nearby, with my daughter, at Carhardtt clothing as a present for my husband reading his signs about not touching anything and initially thought ok this guy works by himself and doesnt want people making a mess of his shelves..I can respect that and was going to ask about cost of something because besides the rude signs there were no prices posted, but as the dialogue with my nephew /sister went on nearby...I realized he was being rude!!!He proceeded to stop my nephew as we were trying to leave and tell us about how we dont know what it cost for him to open his doors everyday and pointed out another rude sign that he told us Chippewa told him to post about not shopping online and then proceeded to read it verbatum while standing in my nephews path of leaving...needless to say I told him with his severe lack of customer service he would never sell anything! We were all utterly appalled ...especially being visitors to the area...after that when we mentioned the incident to anyone from the local area they immediately said, yeah...Dont go there! Ever!Unfortunately we happened to see his store as we were driving by and like the brands his storefront advertised and decided to stop in.....Unfortunately...like I said! Now that I see the reviews here I truly wonder how he has been allowed to have a store at all !!! Disgusting!
