This is the second time I have had a bad experience with this location. I had a screw in my tire and made an appointment to get it repaired. I understand that things are busy, but I was a bit frustrated that it took an hour after my appointment time just for them to get my car up and tell me that they couldnt fix the hole. I talked to my boyfriend, who fixes and builds cars, and he told me to get only one new tire and that my car would be fine (he has worked on my car before and knows it would not mess anything up with just one new tire). I got 4 new tires less than a year ago and definitely did not need to replace all of them. The manager told me she would not put one tire, she would only put two at the minimum, but that I might need 4 new ones (at almost 200 per tire). When i told them no and that I wanted my car back with no repairs, they said hang on we will cut you a deal for 2 new tires. I said no, took my car and went to A&A tire where they fixed the hole in less than 15 minutes. I have now driven over 500 miles on this repaired tire with no problems at all. Theyre not rude or mean, they were nice, but they just want your money here. She swore it wasnt a sales thing but clearly there would have been no issues fixing the tire so it kinda was. Not worth it

EXCELLENT service!! I noticed my tire pressure was low and had them check it. Found a nail :( BUT they were able to fit me right in and take care of it! Such a blessing - and they’re super nice! This place has completely redeemed itself with Karen. My first experience was pretty bad when another manager was there but since they have changed hands, let me tell you. Karen gives it to you straight. Her and her team are very hardworking.Being understaffed they were still working it out and getting things done, I waited on my car while I had o2 sensors replaced and an oil change. I was out of there at the time promised, I was thoroughly informed about the work being done and the price for all Id say was very reasonable, especially knowing the job was getting done right!I didnt leave with loose tires this time. I now have a local NTB to call my mechanic, whereas I was traveling to Manassas VA after my first experience here. So very glad Karen is there. She doesnt mess around or play any games and I love it.Only suggestion I would make is if you need work done call ahead, schedule an early appointment if you plan on waiting there. They are trying to hire new people but seems nobody wants to work! So be kind in a sense of knowing they are very very understaffed, from my understanding there should be 3 members in the front and 5 in the shop she is running with herself and 2 guys in the shop. Patience is a virtue.

Amazingly friendly staff. Specially Virginia ( forgive me if I wrote your name wrong) the front desk lady 🙏 My car engine cover came off and they had zipped tied it for free. Their gesture made me day not because it was free of cost but because of their services. I now even love VA more. I am from New York City and everyone in VA are amazing 😊🙏 thanks

Karen Rogers was so nice and helpful to me today. to check to see if she could fine me another cap that goes into the center of my wheel and luckly she did and I thank her so much and was so happy that they had one. I’ve been coming here for an oil change for about a year and never had any real problems. I booked an appointment for an 11:30am oil change/tire rotation. At around 2pm when the car was finally finished, we saw I have a rusty rear drum/shoe. After 30 minutes of deliberation the cost was just too much to replace them so I had them rotate the tires and I’d be on my way.I drove away to find the car pulling to the right/vibrating pretty badly. I returned and waited another 1.5 hours. They ALMOST tried to insinuate it was the rusty part but that can’t suddenly cause the car to act like that after previously driving fine. I was told to come back the next morning at 8 because another person was there to get new tires on their truck. There was only a single person working, but I feel I should’ve taken priority as they’ve messed my wheels up on my car.I came in the next day and it took all of 15 minutes to rotate my tires back and the car has been driving fine since. I do understand tires can be worn a certain way, but that shouldn’t cause the vibrating and pulling as it had. After talking to a few other shops, they shouldn’t have rotated tires with a rusty drum in the first place.They were severely understaffed that day but I feel it was un-professional that someone else was taken priority almost for the sole reason they were having tires put on. I finally left the NTB after arriving at 11:30am, at 4:30pm. I suppose I’m writing this review to let people know that businesses being understaffed is a huge issue right now, but if you don’t have the time to wait I would probably just go somewhere else.

Had an issue with our rental car and Virginia squeezed us in with very short notice. Got us fixed up fast enough to still make it to the airport for our flight. Very helpful!

These guys are awesome. Came in to put new tires on the truck I just bought. Got a great price on 4 tires, an oil change, and an alignment. Everybody was friendly and Jeremy went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of. An overall excellent experience. This store is not under the same manager as last time I was here and man, what an improvement. Top notch service here due to a top notch crew. No pressure, no unneeded recommendations, excellent pricing, a clean shop and store, and great people. If you have to do business with a mechanic shop, give these guys a shot.

Had a tire unravel while I was driving and looked up to see what was nearby. NTB came up so I went online an lo and behold they had my tire size and was able to set an appointment to have the tire replaced.BAIT & SWITCHGet to the location and they dont have the tires that I scheduled the appointment for. Instead, they have some that were $225 more just for 2!I was in a position where I couldnt refuse because the tire was in such bad shape. I 10 out of 10 will not recommend.

HiI took my car to this place to fix the front breaks. Because I heard a wired sound when I apply breaks.After they checked out, they told me as they can fix it. I was happy, because they didn’t tell me to come back by appointment.Anyhow after they finish I paid the money what they asked. But after I started to drive my car the wired sound was still exist. Day after I took it again and I told them the problem is still not fixed.One of the works said your car’s problem is on the front. That was the problem from the beginning. They told me as they fixed the rear one I never asked. I waste my money and my time.

We took our car on for repair. Paid ALOT! a week later the same repair was leaking and they did not even have the part we were asked to come back for. Then when we took it back so they could fix the same problem and ask for the part they called my husband a liar that wanted free work. Never got the parts. Awful dishonest place. Went in today for an oil change, the counter man was rude, and when I picked up my car my hood was up and my relay was running and the guy told me to take it back to where I got if fixed. Funny because my car was working fine before I took it there.. never going back they ate really gonna mess someone’s car up one day!

I had probably hit all of the bad luck in one day you could possibly hit.Wrong place wrong time. Got a HUGE nail stuck right outside the marker that a auto shop could fix. I went to 3 places that day hoping for help.NTB was able to look at my tire determine if i could safely get home, patch it or if they could stick my spare on for me till i got passed the holiday. Unfortunately no spare tire. So i asked for prices on a new tire. They quoted me a unbelievably generous price and had it ready for me in less than 30 mins. The entire process probably took 45 minutes.They filled up each tire with air and checked to make sure no other damage had been done.THANK YOU so much for your help guys. I can honestly say it was a painless experience.

I found a nail in my tire and needed a plug & I was overdue for a tire rotation. I called and they told me to come and pay for the rotation and they will plug it for free! Everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. I didnt realize all the stuff they do there I always thought it was just tires. Im glad I went and Ill definitely being going there for everything from now on. I felt like they went above and beyond to help me out. You could tell that they do that all the time there. Very satisfied customer!

Most frustrating experience ever. Took car for inspection, needed brakes and tires and another part replaced before it would pass. $800+ and almost a month later and I still dont have a properly functioning car.The new part they installed was supposedly defective, although they didnt tell me this the day it was put on, even though I questioned why the light on my dash was still on. They told me the light would go off when i drove it .... Well I drove 30 miles and it didnt go off, plus my cruise control and horn no longer work! From my research, this particular part is easy to break if you dont know what you are doing and Im not 100% confident that it was a defective part vs. it being messed up during installation, especially since my steering wheel wasnt even put back on correctly.My new tire got a nail in it after I drove it only 2 times, and they did offer to patch the tire free of charge (which i appreciated), but now a little over a week later and my tire is flat again. My dad jacked the car up to look at the tire and the patch is pulling off and leaking air!My husband has had work done there before without issue and I rarely write bad reviews, but this experience has been a major stress. I have never had this many problems with car repairs.

I had popped both of my passenger side tires and had the car towed to the shop. When we got there sadly the shop didnt have the right type of tires in stock to replace the popped ones. However, Travis Mohlor helped us out a lot by getting one of his guys to drive over to a nearby store and pick up the tires we needed. He had the new tires replaced and aligned that same day in only a couple hours. Great service here these guys are awesome. Travis is a great guy. Definitely would use this shop again if i ever needed to.

We had a flat on I-81 late Saturday evening while headed towards home in Tennessee. Stayed overnight in Harrisonburg and found Merchants Tire online. Got to the store 830 Sunday morning. Travis arrived when we did to start opening the doors, and spoke with me about our options for new tires on our Mercedes E350. As the other crew arrived, they immediately went to work. Our car was up on a lift before they were officially open. Bottom line: I decided to replace all 4 tires, done before 10 a.m., fair price, and good guys at this location.

I needed to get my tire patched from running over a nail. This was my first experience at NTB. I was promptly seen, everything was explained clearly with pricing for patching or if I would need a new tire, and I was able to wait in store. While waiting the phones were constantly ringing and 5 others were seen in person during the 40 minutes I was there. The manager, Joe, treated everyone on the phone and in person with respect and patience. He was able to take care of everyone and multitask effectively. The mechanics were visible from the lobby and I was able to see them work on my car and patch the tire. My regular tire center had moved locations so I decided to try NTB since it’s closer to my work. I will be coming back for all of my car needs!

I went in for an oil change, tire rotation, and service on the differential on my truck. Their prices were excellent. Also, I watched the mechanics as working on my truck. They worked carefully, and double checked everything several times, to make sure there were no problems (e.g., loose or missing bolts). Top notch service!

I took my car there for an inspection and they failed it for its rotors. I decided to do the repairs myself and when I took the tires off to replace the rotors I saw the rotors were completely fine. I took my car somewhere else and they passed it easily. Dont trust them.

Traveling from Western Virginia to DC and needed to make an unexpected stop. The entire staff was great. Got my car up, checked everything out, got me back on the road within a half hour.

I have come to this site for a while to change the oil. Twice already, I have left and realized when I got home that my car was leaking oil because they put the plug in the wrong position. The last time I had an appointment for 10:00 am and I left there at 1:00 pm. I paid $ 485 for an oil change and other things, then I realized that the car was leaking oil because of their poor workmanship. I lost a day of work because I had to go back for them to resolve the issue. I will reconsider returning to this mechanic in the future.

Came in on short notice after getting a flat tire on a camping trip and the staff at NTB was able to fix my tire and get me back on the road in less than and hour. Very impressed with their service.

Just got up here on vacation from Florida and got a broken belt on one of my front tires. Wasnt sure what was wrong as my car has only 21000 miles. Called Merchant and spoke to Travis on the phone and told him what the car was doing. This was 4 pm on Sunday evening. He said to bring it in and he would look at it. Got it there and he met me at the door and took one look and confirmed a broken belt in the tire. It was almost time for all new tires and he had tires in stock for my Durango and gave me an excellent price for 4 new tires. They had all 4 tires replaced and an alignment done in about an hour. I was treated very well and I highly recommend Travis and his team.

I went to the store at 4:20 p.m. and asked if they could fix a tire for me I was told that they close at 5 p.m. and that they were pretty booked up but he said they would try to work me in but it probably be after 5 they fix my tire and stayed past closing time and they didnt have to I really appreciated that cuz I had a hundred mile trip to go to tomorrow.. thats what you called above and beyond good service

Made appointment and arrived 10 minutes early to have thermostat put on car.Was told it was a 2 hour job.3 and a half hours later they still wasnt done.Told mgr(who was very nice and polite)I had to go to funeral home for an old friend who passed away.Mgr brought car to me and told me he topped off antifreeze and it might run hot.Well it did and I had to have it towed and missed my friends viewing. Then I notice $19.60 for shop fees on my bill and call and complain. Was told it was for hand cleaner and rags and such.19.60 to wash your hands.,never again. I will continue to go here for oil change and thats it(o ly cause they are cheap)

They patched a tire a month ago, but still leaked. This morning, had an appointment, the second time to have it fixed, each time they chose the time and date, both times, was told they couldnt get to it. Asked me to come back a fourth time. Sorry, there will never be another time in that establishment. Btw, the customer in line in front of me this morning, told the same thing.

Called and explained that all I needed was a simple mount and balance on wheels and tires I was bringing in myself and was it was going to be $30.00 per tire! You’re joking right?! Hell the most I’ve seen anywhere else in Harrisonburg is $20.00! What makes your process of mounting and balancing so special from anyone else’s?! To any who reads this comment, I advise you to not waste your money here!

NTB Harrisonburg found and presented a couple of tire options for my 1997 Toyota Tacoma. At the appointed time the work was accomplished in two hours (2 tire replacements and a front-end alignment). I was a little surprised when presented the bill ($422), because the costs had not been presented during our initial interaction a couple of days prior. I count these costs as necessary and appropriate to my safety and those others who drive. Ive made several purchases from this particular location, and though it has changed corporate hands (a minimum of three times in the past fifteen years), service has been appropriate, friendly (particularly when not understaffed) and informative. I will continue to offer my custom to NTB, and hope always to do good business, in our community.

Went in for an alignment and was very disappointed. Had to jump start my car after the alignment due to the tech leaving my lights on the entire time. After leaving realized that I had to hold my steering wheel at the 1 oclock position to go straight. With that said I had to return to the shop for a second time. In addition to that the tech Corey that perforned the first alignment was spitting on the ground the entire time. After he performed the test drive and returned there was spit alongside my car. DISGUSTING, by far the worst service I have ever received at an NTB service center.

Wonderful service, gave me a quote then did everything in their power to get me a discount and keep me in that range. Incredibly fast and courteous service no idea how they have such bad ratings on here.

Now idea how the service actually is but I rang today for 4 Michelin tires and someone answered the phone with, “Yeah?” I told him I was looking for four Michelin tires for a Ram 1500 and he replied, “And?” so I hung up and rang a more professional business. Won’t be recommending them or taking any of our vehicles there.

Drove all the way there for tires when it said in stock online and on the phone that morning. Showed up at the time they told me on the phone & they said they didn’t have the tires and tried accusing me of being on the wrong website when it clearly said Harrisonburg.

Great friendly service but when I placed my order online for tires for my make and model vehicle..it gave me the wrong size!! So when I went there I wasnt able to get the tires I wanted and I wound up paying more!! So needless to say I wasnt too happy about that and learned my lesson.

I really wish I could rate my service as a 0 star! Had my Lincoln Navigator towed to this shop on Saturday because it wouldnt start. They told me they would know what the problem was within an hour... over 2 hours later they finally tell me its the fuel pump and present me with an outrageous bill. I decline the service but am forced to pay the diagnostic bill of $121. I have the truck towed once again to my house. Today, I have someone look at it for the first time since it left Merchants and they find a fuel switch in the rear of my truck turned to the off position. He flips it on and my truck starts right up!! Now while Im happy that there isnt a problem, Im pissed that I was charged for a diagnostic that was incorrect!! This is ridiculous! And again, they took 2.5 hours to tell me that the fuel pump was out, when it wasnt... the only thing that had happenew was the tow truck driver probably flooded my engine trying to start it before it was dropped off. I even told the mechanic that we smelled fuel while trying to start it, meanig the fuel pump was working!! I highly recommend not taking a vehicle to this shop, especially if youre a woman!! The service manager needs a serious lesson in customer service as well!

Horrible service and wait times. First time I went in there for 4 tires I waited 3 hours for installation. I gave them the benifit of doubt and tried again with another vehicle. Bought my tires somewhere else and brought them with me to have them install. Mind you I made an appointment online, when I walked in they told me it would be several hours before they could get to it and if I wanted to drop it off. So I left and went down to Midas. They had them on in an hour and it was a walk-in. Never will I deal with this business and I suggest you do the same. Unless you have the free time.

My mechanic recently moved and I went to Merchants to get an inspection. They told me I needed to buy 2 rear tires and strongly recommended I get a $400 water pump and timing belt which had nothing to do with the inspection.I told them I wanted a second opinion and took the car to a my old mechanic. Once I got there they told me the rejection sticker said they only suggested I get new tires. Which is not what Merchants told me. All I really needed was new windshield wipers. My mechanic also told me the tires were in good condition and did not recommend I replace them yet. I will not be taking my car back here.

My car was completely fine when I took it in, Went for an oil change a month ago, they called to tell me my a.c. wasnt working cause if a filter (which it hadnt been) as soon as drove my car I knew something was off and been having problems ever since, now a light has come on. Save your time and your money.

Slow on service and took 1hou 1/2 to change oil. Maybr im getting old but i use to do it in 1/2 hour

Fast, fantastic service from good guys!!! Our son is a student at JMU and woke up Saturday morning to a dead car battery. I found Merchants doing a Google search and called to see if they had a battery in stock for his car. They did, and after a jump start from friends, my son drove his car over. Travis ran a quick check to confirm it was the battery, and in less than an hour, the car had a new battery and was ready for pick-up. Both Travis and Harvey at this location were fantastic--they answered all of my questions as I tried to coordinate a long-distance repair, and were so pleasant and efficient while doing so. Harvey has a real heart for students (and sympathy for their parents!) and I think this Merchants is a real find for JMU parents. Well be using them for any future car repairs in Harrisonburg (dare I say it?!) Thanks again, Harvey and Travis!

One star is one too many. I live 40 minutes away from Merchants Tire. I went through the website, chose my tires with a total of $305.24, and scheduled my appointment. When I arrived at the store at my appointed time, I was given a total of $406. I explained what the total I had received from the website was, and was told that $305 was the total for the tires, but that I had to get an alignment to receive that price, which would bring the total to $406.I obviously declined the “deal”.When I got home I re-checked the website, and I cannot see anywhere that states anything about an alignment being required. 100% bait and switch, bordering on outright fraud. I am very angry about this, I wasted two hours and a quarter of a tank of gas. I don’t know if this is corporations policy, or just this store, but you can be assured that neither me, nor my family, nor anyone else I can talk out of it will be spending any money with them.

I had a couple issues with this business. Had a Honda pilot and needed all around alignment done one week later had tire wear on brand new tires with the wire showing took it back and they said was not their fault I wouldnt send my dog there

Me and my family btoke down while traveling called the tire shop and he waited for us to arrive and gave us a discount on the tire fixed the spare tire what a great place.

Travis Mohler is a lifesaver! Were in town for a bridal shower and after 6PM on a Saturday we find that our brake pads are shot just in time for the 300 mile drive back to Pennsylvania. All the mechanics in Harrisonburg are closed or getting ready to close and therefore not willing to help us tonight. That is until the Jeep dealership referred us to NTB and Travis assured us he would get it taken care of and you bet he did! Got there at 6:30; in and out in 20 minutes; super friendly and glad to be helping us in a bind. 10/10 would recommend Travis Mohler and Harrisonburg NTB.. good prices too (we think)

Set up for a simple oil change between 3-3:30. Arrived 10 minutes early only to be told that theyd get to it in a few hours.

TERRIBLE customer service. Manager (did not have name tag), was disrespectful, rude, and did not even let me finish my sentences. I hadnt gone in years because they were bad several years ago. Some things dont change. I also have many friends that have worked there that have told me of some of their horrible practices. Do not go here.

Merchant Tire and auto destroyed my truck. I went in for a state inspection and after I had left paying $400 for a brake change in order to pass inspection, I’m driving down the highway and about 15 miles later my engine had blown up. They had forgotten to put my radiator cap back on. When we confronted Merchants Tire and Auto they did nothing. Their insurance company blew us off, and the high level managers would have nothing to do with us.Their lack of professional, integrity, and character was clearly displayed in the proceedings following the obvious mistreat of my truck. Its obvious that this company is not concerned with the customer just how much money they can make. If you’re reading this, Please do yourself a favor and never go to Merchant Tire and Auto if you need to get something fixed on your vehicle. It was a disaster that has left my family short a vehicle and it affected my ability to keep volunteering with disabled children

Alright, Ill be honest - Ive never been to Merchants Tire and Auto Center. But I have lived near them for twenty years, and Ive heard horror story after horror story about them. Please, I dont want to hear any more stories. Go somewhere else.

Fast and efficient

They fixed my problem with one tire but after leaving had a new problem with my other tire. They agreed to look at it but couldnt find or fix the new problem. Now my car makes a scraping sound every time I turn left. Not happy.

Went in for an alignment and tire rotation forgot to rotate tires and alignment wasnt even done. Dont bring your car here

DO NOT LET MERCHANT TIRES touch your vehicle. They didnt put the oil cap back on my vehicle..

Said they could do the job 2 1/2 hrs later told me they could not handle the work to be done to my truck.
