An honest mechanic, go figure? My car had an electrical issue. He said my battery was drained. He ran a full diagnostics and everything was normal. He recharged the battery and said if I had any problem with it again he would check it again for free. HHillside automotive is my new auto repair shop.

I needed to get the engine replaced on my 2017 Honda Ridgeline and after doing a lot of research I chose Hillside Automotive and Im really glad I did. Took my Honda in to get looked at, car had small antifreeze smell. After a few test nothing was found. The mechanic mentioned it could be a timing belt and water pump area issue. I trust them so much I didn’t hesitate to give them the ok. Once opened timing was almost gone and water pump had marks of antifreeze issue. They took care of all the repairs and had my car back in a day. They did an awesome job and great quality work. I highly recommend these guys!

I recently had an issue diagnosed and car repairs done and the service was great! Bob kept me informed along the way with the progress of repairs being made. They performed an overall check up on the vehicle and went through the report with recommendations and necessary repairs that needed to be done. I will use them in the future for car repairs and will highly recommend them to family and friends. After my first visit it was easy to see that they are honest, trustworthy and have excellent service.

I don’t usually take the time to leave reviews but I feel they really went the extra mile. I called late in the day just before closing after being turned away by a few other shops. Gary told me that he’d wait to close until I made it and he even gave me a ride home. They called me first thing the next morning with an update and explained everything in detail. I appreciate that they told me what needed to be done now, soon, and what was all set and I also liked that they didn’t try to pressure me after i declined some services. Everything was smooth and fast, got everything done the same day. After my service I got a letter in the mail thanking me as well as a coupon for future services. I had a flat tire and reading previous views about theyre services. I figured why not give them a shot. I arrived early in the morning at open time.To only be told that he was way too busy plung my flat which only takes about 10-15 mins to do. He suggested that I go to other shops. I felt that he didnt want to take on a small job. So I did... drove across town to a familiar place risking it with a flat and I was in and out in less than 15mins. Thank goodness for folks who makes time for small jobs.

Lower control arm assemblies took twice as much time and 49% more cost than quoted. Hillside Automotive could not provide a loaner car for the additional 24-hour inconvenience. The additional costs were not mentioned until I picked up the vehicle.Update:I have since spoken with Gary who has made effort to correct miscommunication and make things right. I appreciate the professionalism.

This is a top notch shop. Well established and maintains endless repeat customers. My service with them has prompted me to tell friends and family . Many now bring their vehicles as far as Middletown to have Hillside service. Honest, experienced, will give you a fair price and damn quality work. I went to get a pre purchase inspection for a car. It was better priced than a few other stores I spoke with. Their service was great, they provided me with information I needed about the car, and explained a few things I didnt understand. They were patient and really welcoming. They went beyond the pre-purchase inspection and provided me a space to make my transaction, along with some forms that I didnt know I needed. I would definitely go back if I lived closer! And would recommend to anyone in the area.

I have been getting all my service at the Dealership in the past, however, I had to find some one for a second opinion regarding some of the routine maintenance. Google led me to hill side, and since it had great reviews, I decided to give it a try!!! I could not have been happier. From the moment I dropped my car there, they have taken care of me like family. They told me about what was absolutely necessary repairs ( and what could be held off). The initial work didnt meet expectations, but when we bring it up to the owner, he is willing to listen and work with you to make sure you leave happy. They keep our vans running well with their careful check point system so that we can serve or customers without any down time. They stay on top of the maintenance so we dont have too! When a van is down they know that it is affecting our lively hood and always make it a priority to get it back on the road asap sometimes even working on a Saturday. The staff has been great to talk to, and they have been really easy to communicate with both over the phone and email. I was away in business, had a flat tire, and they were able to see me right away, change my tire and checked the rest of the tires to make sure everything was okay. We had been traveling and had some break/tire issues in Hartford on 84. Luckily for us we found Hillside Automotive. They were able to fit us in, get the parts we needed and get us back on the road. Extremely nice family run automotive repair center. Wish I had a place like this close to where I live.

I highly recommend this shop. They are honest and through. My engine recently blew up on a new car I was financing. I towed it to hillside because I used them once before and was happy with the results. The claims appraiser assessed that the damage was due to lack off lubricant. The shop disagreed with this assessment and saved my warranty from being voided

Everything was done in a day even though we were a walk-in at opening. We were given an itemized list of everything that was wrong with the car, what it would cost, and were told what needed to be done immediately, what could wait a few days, and what could wait a while. Friendly service. Loved that the list was emailed to me, too, so I could refer to it later rather than setting it on the car seat and losing it within a few days. Hillside would be the only place I would go if I lived in Hartford.

My wife was in town visiting friends when, on her way back to VT on a Saturday morning, her 2002 BMW broke a serpentine belt. She called me in a panic, so I googled repair shops in the area. I sell tools for a living so I deal with all kinds of repair shops and owners everyday, after a very brief conversation with the owner, I knew this was a knowledgeable and capable shop. We had the car towed over, and were fortunate they were able to get it right in and repaired. Then I get a follow up call two weeks later to make sure everything is good! My instincts were correct. Happy wife happy life!

I took my car in for repairs and it handles better now than ever. They call you before they do any repairs to your car and explain what needs to be done now and what can wait till later. My wife added that she liked the fact that they let her use a loaner car and that she didnt have to pay for a rental. Im not usually a 5 star giver for reviews, but they were pretty great in all aspects of my interactions with them. I was having a serious issue with my brakes and they were able to schedule an appointment for me the morning after I called. I was even offered a ride to work nearby which was very much appreciated. I was quoted an appropriate estimate for the job, and the work was done by the time I got out of work at around 4-4:30pm. Now my car is back working great! I also got a 5% discount on labor because of my AAA membership. They are very friendly and professional. I chose them off of the good reviews I saw online and was not disappointed.

Theres a reason my boss and coworkers recommended Hillside, and why I keep using them a decade later. For a small shop theyre up on the latest technologies, including hybrid cars, and have modern computerized diagnostic equipment. I like that they are willing to drive me back to work or home when I drop off my car. Ive never had Hillside recommend something I dont need and while theyre not the cheapest place, Im willing to pay enough to have the work done right the first time.The only downside is that they often have to get parts overnighted, so if youre in a hurry, you might need a dealership.

I needed some help getting my car fix and they help me out. I had to get a new clutch for my car and I was a bit short of $ and they made it work. I Brought my car on Wednesday and it was all set on Friday afternoon. Great team.

At first I had my hopes up for Hillside Automotive, and they were friendly with me and at first seemed genuinely helpful, however they tried to scam me out of a relatively large sum of money for something I was able to fix myself. Do NOT come here unless you already have an idea about what needs to be fixed, because if they think you dont know, they will NOT be honest. Please note that I have never left a review below 5 stars for any other business before, but the experience was insulting enough that I feel the need to write this.The story: I was trying to fix my headlights for the first time, had made a mistake, and needed to drive a long distance that evening. Given the urgency of the situation, I decided a mechanic might be necessary. I called, and was told to bring in my car so that they could have a look and give me a proper quote from there, great! Once I got there, we realized that I had made a very silly mistake, and I had replaced the wrong bulb. I was embarrassed, but at this point I knew Id be able to fix it myself, but was still willing to pay a bit to have a professional do it, especially since they had diagnosed the issue.One thing I already had been told a hundred times over is to NEVER touch the bulb of a headlight. What does he do when I bring over the newly purchased bulb? He grabs the light with greasy hands then puts it on the concrete (instead of back in the plastic case) with an audible clink.Next, he comes back with a quote and says that replacing a light bulb will take them 5/6ths of an hour and quotes me at $75. I said no, went home, and fixed it myself in 5 minutes. (All you have to do is unplug the bulb, place the new one in, and plug it back in, and apparently these mechanics either A. dont know how to do it and think it will take an hour, or B. were blatantly lying).Nice try, Hillside. Never assume someones stupidity and try to scam them for it. If my brand new headlight burns out prematurely I can only assume that the cause was the mistreatment of the bulb by this establishment, given that even I found proper gloves to wear when I did the job myself.

I was dumbfounded. I will NEVER return nor recommend that place to anyone.

I was buying a car and took it to Gary for inspection to check if eberything is ok. To say he was thorough would be an understatement. He started with running his hands on the car to see if it has been repainted in any place. We found that the back has been repainted even though there is no mention of an accident in the CARFAX report. He was very diligent and gave me sound advice on how to proceed with the sale.If you are planning to buy a car, take the car to him for sure.
