Great latino grocery store with a yummy attached restaurant. I love to go there, get some delicious burritos with my kids and then get all the stuff I need to come food at home later that week. Friendly staff and great selection!

Clean,Organized, Fresh baked bread, bakery, taqueria, butchers shop in the back. They also have ready made tamale masa and tortilla masa. One stop shop.

I have not been at this market for a while. But, since I was in the area I decided to give it a try on 6/25/21 at around 2:00PM. I started getting lunch at the taqueria (to go) and the male making the food had the most horrible attitude /customer service. He seemed miserable working there. In any case he made my food proceeded the cashier and she was somewhat friendly. Then I need it to get some groceries, stopped by the meat department where I came across the most friendliest lady. She was very kind and happy to assist, I even asked her how to prepared some dish with some of the items I was buying... She was very happy to help. Then I proceeded to check out and to my surprise the cashier (she, whom seemed to be a manager) was the rudest employee Ive came across. She screamed at me because I was ready to pay but she seemed annoyed by helping customers or something so I moved to another cashier who seem to be on training, this other one was nice. I hope management and owners read this review and really keep on eye on their employees rude behavior. It is NOT good for business in particular not during this times.

The store is clean. The staff is helpful and friendly. The fruit, a vegetables and meat looks great every time I go in. They have a restaurant inside too.

Chavez offers a medium size selection of a typical latino grocery store. The store is clean and the staff is friendly. The only issue I have with the place is its prices; everything is overpriced. For example, oxtail was $15 per pound and avocados were $3 for 1. There were many other things in the store that were more expensive than the average supermarket. But given its convient location on Mission blvd this is not too surprising.

Feels like price gouging ...I mentioned to the cashier that the prices of meat being almost double the price as my regular grocerie store and she proceeded to say how much money the government is giving us for free...I only assume she thinks everyone is on food stamps and for what ever reason we should pay more..I couldnt help it but to think people on food stamps dont need you to raise the prices that defeats the purpose of assistant.

Does this happen to someone else???or just dusty looking guys like me,,,,This guys, the food is good flavor a d decent price, been there before, and today I thought I Gabe them another chance, so on my lunch I went, I was there behind one person, and after a while some guy saw me and wave and order me to come to him say NEXT,NEXT I togh I noticed little attitude but I thought was just me, mind me Im gard working man and was not wearing my nice clothes 😀, so I went I ask for a burrito, than he say WHAT MEAT,WAHT SALASA,SUPER OR REGULAR? so I answered, asada please, before I even finished my sentences he MEAT?WAHT SALASA?,SUPER OR REGULAR?, so I replied, asada, whit salsa roja everything on it,please, the. He went SULER OR REGULAR? I say I think super, what is the difference between the regular and super? He says SUPER HAS EVERYTHING ON IT AND REGULAR ONLY BEANS RICE AND CHEESE, then I say I wnat the super, whit everything thing on it,after answering all the questions, my Burrito was wrapped on a aluminum paper, as he was wrapping it I saw that he was just making a ball of my burrito, ask him to be careful, he just looked a t me and say, NEXT,, the sad thing is the I was hungry and I was already on my first 15min of my 35min lunch, so I pay and went to eat whit a spoon my flavor tortilla wrapped on aluminum paper, the worst experience on this place,,,,someone should be careful who they hire,,,

The food in the food court is great. Everything is outstanding. The meat department has many meat marinates pre made which i find that all of marinated are full of flavor.

It is always fully stocked, clean and everyones super helpful.

My Cashier lady was very nice friendly and was able to answer my questions with a great smile.Will definitely return to this location.

It was nice going in at night about am hour before closing. It wasnt super crowded which is great during covid times. Staff seemed friendly. There was a security guard right outside the store, so theres that factor of safety. I got some meat from there and the butcher seemed really awesome. Very patient. I definitely recommend this place for people to shop at.

Everything is over priced, from the hot food to the groceries. $30 for a dozen tamales? That werent even cooked right. 4 of them were still cold in the middle. False advertising on their deals and on their food. Customer service is trash and they have those automatic horses for kids outside that doesnt work. And if youd like your quarters back they say I sorry, it broken tape is on it so nobody pay I didnt want to take the time to even argue with them as there was no tape covering the quarter slot. So I left. I will never return here.

Im just reviewing the taqueria, never shopped the supermarket part. The best carne asada fries. The best Horchata Ive had in along time, even with the ice it doesnt water down. This food is GOOD! If you like taqueria food give this spot a try.

You can get all of your groceries at Chavez Supermarket and take home a hot meal for you and the family. Try it, youll like it!

The food is overrated and pricey. If you ask them to heat your tortillas in the comal they wont do it. If you ask the taquero to put some oil to the tortilla they wont do it because its not chavez style to have oil in the tortilla ( thats what a manager told me) so you have to eat their way not your way even tho you are paying for your food 🤦

This is my local store and I frequent it quite often. Ive not had any negative experiences at this place thus far.The cashiers have always answered my questions in a professional manner (I speak Spanish fluently and get to practice it here, which I enjoy.), the butchers are nice too and the area where hot food is served is decent (Mexican Foods, i.e. Tacos, Burritos, and some dishes).I pick up many Latin products and fresh produce for cooking here. Im a big fan of the Goya brand and their Sofritos in a jar, Ducal canned black refried beans, Guava paste, etc., etc., etc...The store does leave some things to desire, but that is due to the physical size of the store. Its not a small corner store, its much bigger but not a large grocer market.If youre nearby and need some basics like milk, swing by and stroll through the aisles to get a mental note of their stock.

Great produce section and meat counter. The staff are kind and helpful. Butcher is willing to go above and beyond. The taqueria is delicious! The pan dulce is delicious and fresh. The lines can get a little long but the checkers and baggers are extremely efficient so I never feel like Im waiting for too long.

It was an oasis in a desert of mini-marts found me. Prices were OK as well. Within walking distance for me (Im 76, so.....). Polite, friendly cashiers.

I ordered food from there yesterday and they made me enchiladas and there was meat that the guy cut up for my enchiladas but he left a really small portion on the board and I asked why couldnt he put the small portion in my plate and he said he would have to charge me extra and then threw the meat away. What sense does that make? They would rather throw the meat away than give it to a paying customer. They lost a customer in me.

The restaurant food here is excellent! There is a lot of variety on the menu. The staff is friendly, and the place is clean. Highly recommend if you want some good food. Plus the grocery store has all your needs. Very convenient.

Things are overpriced but its so conveniently by me that I often just pay the higher prices. The meat is good, vegetables are great, its really the other items that I try to avoid cause frankly why would I pay 8 dollars for off brand ice cream? The restaurant court food is pretty good and for sure authentic. A bit expensive but again, its pretty good. Still Chavez continues to be a staple in our eating out rotation.

This place is my favorite place on the mission. I love the dining area good, the taco plate is delicious and it will fill you up! I also love the burritos. The staff is super friendly and they are generous with their portions. The market area is also great, they have fresh produce and butchered meat. Its a great place for Cal State East Bay staff and faculty.

This place was recommended by my brother who lives in the Bay area. First time there. Very authentic looking store and the restaurant food was Delicious.

Usually have a very positive experience when I shop at Chavez.My grip is customer service is imperative in a small business and though the customer base is primarily Hispanic..., embrace other cultures as well enough if they dont speak Spanish.If the person whos providing customer doesnt speak English then provide customer as an alternative a bilingual speaking person.

Chavez Supermarket is the closest grocery store to my home. I stop in whenever I need to quickly pick up an item or two. Its very well organized and the staff are very friendly!

Well if you go in there with at least $1,000 in your wallet you might get a couple of bags of groceries out of that store little pricey to me but nice cashiers
