A Cautionary Note:Mr. Tire (220 South Center Street, Hickory, NC) is an approved “car repair” facility for Silver Rock, the warranty vendor for Carvana. Mr. Tires’ primary business is changing oil, replacing batteries, and selling tires.On October 19, 2021 my car lost all power while I was driving. I lost the ability to steer the car and was stranded in the middle of an intersection. I spoke with Silver Rock and they recommended Mr. Tire. The car was towed to their location. On 10/20 they advised me that the alternator was not charging and got approval to replace it ($340, which included $50 for a “diagnosis”). They also proposed $180 for “battery service and fuel system”. I declined the battery service. I picked up the car on 10/26. On 10/27, I made a trip about 9 miles from my house. When I returned to the car, it would not start. I had it towed again to Mr. Tire. They said the battery was bad and connections were faulty and quoted me $375 to replace it. (New battery and installation usually run about $150.) I was told that they couldn’t do the work in a timely manner because “other customers had been waiting longer.” I picked the car up, and drove it to another Silver Rock approved facility. They tested the battery. The connections were clean and it was performing as it should. The serviceman pointed out that there was a bolt about 4” long anchoring the new alternator. It was obvious that they had lost the original bolt and just found something else around the shop to replace it. They didn’t even bother to cut the end of the bolt off.On Monday, November 1st I got approval to take the car to the local dealer. In checking out the car they discovered that the fuse box had been broken and the wires just shoved back in. Several of the wires were crimped.Several key issues:Work was performed that was probably not the cause of the problem,The car was released with the issue unresolved and failed again almost immediately - a decision that made me vulnerable to serious injury or death,I was quoted an exorbitant price for a battery that was functioning properly and,The wiring in my car was tampered with and damaged.I would advise anyone thinking about using this company to reevaluate their decision. There seems to be a real issue at Mr. Tire with incompetency and lack of integrity.

Bill was able to get my vehicle In the garage right away one morning so they could take a look at it and diagnose the problem. It was unsafe to drive. They provided fast, friendly service and had it fixed by the afternoon! I really appreciated the staff working on it!

The service has when to hell. Three hours for tires to be rotated and balanced. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

I usually align all my cars at home with string on about 30 minutes, get very close alignment and been doing it for many years. I dont have much time anymore so decided to pay Mr Tire with a fancy laser system to do it for me.It took 2.5 hours, and there was poor communication during the process that left me wondering how long this would take and how much it would cost.Get out of the shop to find my aluminum wheels that were FLAWLESS are now filthy and scuffed.I paid right below $1000 CASH with an appointment and they couldnt even keep from making my wheels filthy???On top of that my alignment is still a little off. Tested on flat straight road and daily driving.Listen to the multiple bad reviews and TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!!

Before coming to this store to get a oil change, I called to see if I needed to make an appointment and the young man said No maam bring your car right in. When I got to the counter, I received great customer service by the associate and the store manager said, I remember you from the last time you visited my store. I said yes sir. He then said, Thank You for coming back to us, we will take care of your vehicle. I give this store a 10 for great customer service!!

We came home for a funeral and the day of we discovered our tire was going flat! Not only did they fix it in a hurry but they were SUPER kind in the process! They made what was one of the of the worst days of our lives so much better! Our families live here so we travel here often but I will tell everyone I know how kind and professional they were with us! Im super impressed!

Great staff!! I was convinced that I had a slow leak in my front tires and they dismounted them, checked them and remounted them and said I didnt have a leak and didnt charge me. What great customer service!!!

Hands down the best customer service after Firestone let me down on a flat repair!! All their employees quit today and left my tire in a locked building! Mr. Tire was there to help!! Not only did Briana helped me out and take my tire in right away but she did so with the most professional attitude possible. She is an asset to the company and more places need employees like her. If an auto repair shop refuses to show you “the problem” they need to repair with your car, be weary. They could be lying. Never simply take their word. Ask to see the damage. Read details below:I brought my car in on a Wednesday for an inspection. I was on my lunch break and they assured me it would take about 30 minutes. After an hour they tell me my car failed inspection because of my wiper blades and tires. I asked “what’s wrong with my tires”. Bill at the front desk said “your thread is low”. I was immediately skeptical because I recently bought these tires and I do not drive a lot. Then Bill says “hang on” and goes to the garage and comes back in and says “you actually have a nail in your tire”. Considering I was on my lunch break from work I tell them I will come back soon to have it fixed. I pay the $13 for my failed inspection and leave. When I get home, I look for a nail on the tire, but I don’t see one. Funny how the story changed from low tread to nail in tire. Red Flag #1…The following day, Thursday, I call in the morning asking if I can come in today for the repair. Upon my arrival I ask them to show me the nail in the tire before they begin working on my car. The lady at the front desk says okay. They take my car into the garage at 3:30. I walk through the parking lot to the back of the garage as they lift my car up. I ask to see the nail in the tire. The mechanic looks and cannot find it. He calls another mechanic over to help him find it and he can’t find it either. The mechanic asks me “so they said your tire was leaking or something?”. Then he goes to get Bill. Bill immediately asks me to leave the garage area. I explain to Bill that I want to see the nail they said was in my tire. He frantically tries to find something that resembles a scuff/hole on the tire and says “this is where the nail was. We have no intention of lying to you.” I ask “where is the nail” and he says “we must have taken the nail out when you were here yesterday.” He then proceeds to take a pick and poke the “hole” even further to try to prove his point. He repeatedly says “I’m going to have to ask you to come back inside”.So many red flagsWhy did they refuse to show me the nail to my face, Instead they asked me to leave. I was not inside the garage, I was at the edge of the door to the garage.Why did the story switch from my tread being too low to a nail in the tire?Even if there was really a nail in my tire, why would they remove it and not tell me? They allowed me to drive my car home Wednesday without disclosing that they already removed the nail. Also, there was no marking on my tire from when they “found a nail” Wednesday.Hard to say if there was ever a nail in my tire or not. Regardless, the way they conduct business is unprofessional and I will never again do business with them.

Such wonderful guys here at Mr. Tire! I came home from work and noticed my back tire was low. At 5:45 in the evening I was worried how I was going to manage getting this fixed. I went to the Mr Tire (South Center Street Downton) and asked if they could please check the pressure. Sure enough it was at 12 psi! Afraid to leave with the possibility of being stranded with a flat in the morning, I asked if they could please check if I had something in the tire. I had not 1 but 2 nails in the tire. With my husband still at work, I was not prepared to pick out new tires on the spot. Again, these guys went above and beyond to help me by putting my spare on and assuring me I would be ok until I could come back the next day to look at tires. It was 15 minutes before closing at this point mind you and they did not hesitate to start work getting the bad tire off and the spare on! Jason, Donavon, Jonny and Bill were just the absolute best! You simply MUST come to these guys for all your automotive needs!! Thank you so much!!

Mr. Tire will try to rip you off. They tried charging me $175 to get my engine light checked. You can buy a bluetooth diagnostics checker and do it yourself for $20. Save your money and go somewhere honest.

Made an 8am appointment for oil change and tire rotation and showed up 15 minutes early. Immediately took my truck back and put it up on the lift! Waited for 30 mins and nothing. Go to check on my truck and find the tech and sales associate BSing in the shop on their phones and talking! Finally does the tire rotation and watch him use an impact to “torque” my lug nuts! Needless to say, this place is trash and so are the people working here! What a joke!

I originally went up there for an oil change and then they proceeded to tell me that I needed new tires. I had told them that I was already getting tires at a different place.So they offered me a better deal so I was like OK, I’ll get the tires. I didn’t think a better deal meant that I was going to be sitting up there all day with them like I didn’t have stuff to do. I had been there since 10 o’clock and didn’t leave until little before 3

I made an online appointment and had even called to see if there was an earlier appointment (stated on site to do so) whoever answered the phone didn’t even check he just said keep your 1:30 appointment. Fine it was only an hour and half away... I let it go. My husband brought the car in to get one tire changed they said they couldn’t change only one bc it would mess up the transmission. It only had to get us thro a couple days. They tried telling him one side was worse then the other....only ONE tire is bad. So nice try. Guess they didn’t know they were talking to a very experienced car guy. This is the type of place that tries to take advantage of customers to make more money in selling stuff they customers do not need. It’s a scam. Oh well.... it was a sale lost on their part and a gain to another business. Do not recommend and definitely won’t go back.

Bill and his guys are the best. Had a tire issue and ever shop we went to would not help at all. I am a single woman and know nothing about cars but I could tell some thing was wrong. One of my tires were flat. So I stopped in and they took care of it for me. Didnt even ask for money. Bill new I was having a very bad day and a hard time. He was wonderful. Stopped eating his lunch and asked me what was wrong. Not one other did that. Wow, he was worried and concerned about me. What a difference. Now I know where to go for any car need. I needed help changing my sisters tire who came from out town to visit and I called and this wonderful gentleman, John Mitchell came to my house and changed it for me and would not take nothing! I brought the tire back over here to have it plugged and fixed so my sister can get it fixed so she can get home safely! I have lived in this town of hickory since 2000 and this is the first time I have had someone help me like this ever and not wanting anything for it! Mr. Tire was wonderful extremely friendly staff very professional happy and fast. Bill at the front coudlnt have been more helpful and nice in helping answer any questions or conerns I had. Ive taken my car here for regular maintenance since Im currently not able to do it myself-- plus Ive had it fixed here in a few emergency situations and have never had any issue. Repairs have been fast and fair-priced without surprises and thats exactly what I like in an auto shop. Shoutout to Ashley, Johnny, and Nick for helping me get my starter replaced so quickly!

The employees are friendly and want to give you the best experience possiable. I went to MR. TIRE to address a pull to the right when driving. The associates took their time to show me and explain the alignment readout (which was all green). They also rotated the tires to see if a tire pull was causing the issue.

I was visiting friends in the Hickory area when my tire blew out on my way home to Winston-Salem. New tires were an unexpected purchase that day, but Jason and his team were quick to take care of my car, even when the store was about to close. I have been to more than one Mr. Tire shop and I have received great service at them all. I just got a great deal on tires at the South Center St. Hickory NC location. Where else can you get an oil change and they let you know what else is going to need fixing either, immediately, or soon., and will actually show you also.? No Where!!!

Worse experience I ever had with them ....they either ask you to buy new tire or let you go the way you camewith the flat tire...to them its not fixable...policy that suits them.I had to fix it on my own!

I wouldnt bring your car here for repair. They charged me almost a thousand dollars for repairs they DID NOT DO! Took it to a different place and they told me none of the things they supposedly fixed had ever been touched. They showed me where the bolts had never even had a wrench put on them. Would never recommend anyone to come to these scam artists.
