This place is packed with just about any comic you could possibly want to read. The owner is very friendly and helpful and held a book for me that I had been looking for. The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is that its a little TOO packed. Youll find it hard to move in there and space-wise it likely couldnt accommodate anymore than 3-4 customers in the store at a time. Other than that this place is great.
Great hidden little gem, my son came looking for DBS figures and found them!!! Made his day. The owner was very nice and extremely friendly and informative. Will be returning soon.
Awesome store! They have old stuff and new plus the owner was super nice and had a lovely conversation with. Cant wait to go back to buy more stuff!
Back after a 12 year absence and its the same owner.. Hes a gentleman and gives you lots of info and loves to help his customers.
Absolutely excellent place. Went there for the first time today and met Peter, the owner. Nicest human being ever. Highly recommend.
Very nice small but packed store. Variety of everything! From funko to gundam models and action figures. Comic and manga. Pricing was typically fair and awesome if you find something that catches your eye of course. Will be back didnt know they existed, was told they been there over 15 yrs!
Showed up during opening time waited 1/2 hour and left drove from Suffolk County on 2/4
The store I regularly go to ran out of a book that was released today (2/19/20) so I called around to other stores to see if anyone else had it in. I got through to this shop, asked about the book, and the person I spoke with said he had copies. I asked if he could put one aside and he said that he only put a few aside for his regulars, the rest he is putting on eBay for $30 minimum per book.I understand selling them for higher prices a few days after the book is released, but holding back your shelf copies to sell at a gouged rate online is bad business practices. I dont care how knowledgeable the workers at this store may be, based on other reviews, I will never shop here and hope that others will do the same.
Phoenix Comics is definitely the best place to get comic books on Long Island, by far. The owner, Peter, is one of the most knowledgeable and helpful people on the planet. Whether a life long comic book fan, or a new enthusiast, Peter can help you find exactly what youre looking for, even if you dont know yourself. This store is jam packed with new releases, old comics (even some from the Golden Age!), toys, memoribilia, variants, trades and literally everything youd ever want. Its a well organized, but a bit cramped, store with the best owner. If youre on the fence for a new place to spend your money, spend it here.
Nice shop same owner I remember from years ago. Of course prices change, so I couldnt afford much, but definitely has a love for comics and lots of choices. Will work with you on price if you want more than a few comics.
The owner is awesome and always gets me the exact comic book Im looking for no matter how rare or hard to find! Can not recommend this place highly enough. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike.
The owner and operator has a vast knowledge of everything and anything in his store. He is willing to take the time to track down anything you may be looking for in his store. Not only does he have comic books and pop culture items, but soft cover novels at a reasonable price. The space may be a little tight, but its worth the dig.
One of the knows his business comic people
Great, Knowledgeable Service.
Was here for the first time the other day and I had a couple comics I was thinking about getting then I saw some figures that were questionably K.Os, so I didnt say anything to the owner in hopes he does the right thing on his own. Glad I didnt buy anything.
Pete... Pete... Pete... The owner of this establishment makes this a store worth going to on a regular basis. He is the most down to earth and open minded owner of a comic shop you will ever meet. He is loyal to his customers and will try his hardest to accommodate your needs. The hardest part about being a customer of Phoenix, is leaving. Lol!! Talking to Pete and listening to his thoughts on new books, old movies, Anime, etc... is such a treat, you don’t want to go.Keep up the amazing job Pete!!
Went in looking for a book that was JUST RELEASED. They had it, but were now selling the $3.99 book for $22. Put my stack of books down and walked out, lost a customer forever.Edit: it is several months later and my friend just called me to tell me they just did the same thing today, $20 for a 2.99 book. Completely untrustworthy, can’t believe I ever went there...
Wonderful local shop, with an owner that’s knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate. Pete is probably the funniest shop owner I’ve ever met, and always has exactly what I need.
It is laughable when I hear people complain about the pricing of a hot book from people who are clueless; or who are pretending to be. Comic books are a trending market value business. The prices are based on the current trending price. The trends are based on a confluence of factors, but the biggest factor is created by the collectors themselves. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, both retailer and collector are subject to market trends. Its ignorant for either parties not to acknowledge the price fluctuations due to the market. So, before anyone seeks to cast blame on the retailers prices; one should pay attention to the market trends. So, why did a store price a brand new book for $20? Dont be stupid, or worse yet, pretend to be stupid.
This place is great
Great store and Pete is so approachable and informative.
Shop owner is knowledgable but his business practices are not the best. He Jacks prices on books and new releases day of he will charge a high price if its a hot comic. I understand the next day but Jacking prices on release day and then at an absurd amount is bad business.
Very small and unorganized. Not much room to walk around because of boxes in the way and looking for a book I had to pull out all of them to see the ones behind it. They try working with the space they got but just too small and cramped. The owner is very, very nice though.
Friendly and accommodating owner. Too much of a selection though with not enough space to display everything. Lot of clutter and items on items. Claustrophobic atmosphere.
The best place I know for The Walking Dead and Marvel Comics. Peter is such an awesome guy to talk too and very friendly.
Cool place. Nice owner
Good selection of stuff but very tight in store with boxes on top of each other you have too ask owner or helper too find what you need otherwise you will be there forever if you dont ask for help also if you need too bargin down a price on something with the owner you must buy multiple comics too get a discount off 1 or more otherwise its a good place .I give the place 4 out of 5 stars .
Wonderful owner, friendly with so much for sale, comics, books, anime collectable figures etc...awesome!
Small store, but packed to the hilt with all sorts of treasures. Peter is extremely knowledgeable and attentive.
Its a small little comic shop that has thousands of comic books. And the owner is pretty knowledgeable and is willing to answer any of your questions
Love this store it has everything from comics to pop figures
Nice local friendly place
After years of questions in storylines, answers and direction on what to read, they are as good as it gets. Thank you.
