Been going here since I was a kid. Professional, great service, plenty of frame options. Never had an issue and the doctors are knowledgeable.
My daughter and I have been going to Woodbury Optical for several years now and I have found them to be nothing but knowledgeable and respectful. The female sales person, I believe her name was Stacey took the time to show me frames and lenses in my price range and did not attempt to pressure me into buying anything unnecessary. I will certainly be returning to Woodbury Optical for my daughters contacts as well as frames and lenses.
Terrible practice, they care more about charging you no show fees $50 if you miss an appointment. No way to cancel appointment either as they dont have a voicemail!Place used to be good but not anymore
This place is a rip off. Needed a prescription for my contact lens. They want me to take another eye exam which I Don’t think i need. Refused to give me a prescription. They charged a huge amount for the lens I got from them.Go to Costco instead, but you need a prescription.Going to another optical business.DO NOT GO HERE!You can see All the Bad reviews.
We paid cash, the only payment they will accept, (very suspicious), for a Lasik procedure that was ultimately unsuccessful. No recourse. Buyer beware!
Been a patient for over 10 years. I have Uveitis for the 3rd. Time in 5 years called today they are closed had an emergency# told the receptionist she said they probably wont call you back and they didnt. If left untreated I can go blind, luckily I found another that will see me tomorrow. They are disgusting and I will never ever be a patient of them again
Scott and the staff provided great assistance, were welcoming and helpful. I described some characteristics I was looking for in a set of frames and they were able to provide me with a bunch of options that I liked. I love the set of frames that I selected. Would recommend this place
I have been getting frames here for many years. My whole family uses them. Scott and the staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating. Great selection! Convenient location and hours.
I was a patient there for 10 years and will no longer go back. All they do is push for surgery. They are rude and incompetent.. the receptionist is obnoxious.. and the tall gentleman who does the eyeglasses is just as bad. STAY AWAY
Have been going 10 years to this place but have to say they have turned more into business rather than patient care. After Dean Hart left the practice this place is worse. I am never going back. I would recommend to everyone not to try this place at all.I recently visited and saw the doctor for my regular yearly eye exam and specially doctor checked for my eyes both contact lens and eye glasses and gave two different prescriptions, one for contact lens and one for glasses, both have different number. The doctor forgot to write the contact lens brand and I asked them to resend the contact lens prescription and they mentioned doctor never saw me for contact lens. I am totally lost. How can doctor give two prescriptions just for eye glasses .The staff there especially the person who handles the contact lens dealing with patients should retire. He does not know customer service. Just favors people he knows.People please don’t visit place and waste your time and money.
The staff at Woodbury Optical provided me with 5 star service. They were very professional and the wait was not long. I would definitely recommend this establishment for your optical needs.
I have been going here for over 10 years. I’ve tried other places but always come back. Great staff.
I had cataracts surgery for my both eyes. It seems successful. But post surgery control and checkup is very unsatisfactory. Because dr is very snobby. I hardly pulled out information from his mouth about my concern whether I could do all kind of activities which I was doing before surgery. I left the office with question marks
Scott is a really friendly guy always willing to help. He fixed my glasses and adjusted them. It was a great turnaround time
Nicole and Melissa at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful. Nicole brought my glasses to the eyeglass counter and they were repaired in five minutes. The staff behind the eyeglass counter were also nice.
Just called Woodbury Optical and the girl that answered the phone was unbelievably rude. I called to find out the price of a contact lens exam and a 30 day supply of a particular brand of contact lenses. She initially said contact lens exams start at $96. Then i asked her how much the lenses would cost and she immediately tried to get my phone number saying someone would give me a call. But then she said they cannot give any pricing over the phone. So i proceeded to ask her if the person calling me back would give me the pricing over the phone. At this point she got really angry and rude and kept saying she can have someone call me back and that they do not give pricing over the phone. I hung up.None of it really made much sense especially when three other eye care places readily divulged the information over the phone. I guess Woodbury optical must be a special place. Maybe i should rate them 5 stars.
First was the TWO hour wait, yes that was TWO hours! their excuse was alternating doctors, strange since I was the first person there and saw others go in and leave before me. I waiting 9 days and called to see status, glasses of course we not in. It has now been 14 days and I call again. A receptionist said she would call me back. NEVER did so I called yet again. On hold for 20 minutes for still no answer of where my glasses are. Someone else is supposed to call me back... lets see. I dont know what happened to this place, over worked? understaffed or unorganized. extremely disappointed and will NEVER go back.
This is the last time I’m coming to Woodbury Optical. I’ve seen Fred many times, but this visit he was extremely rude to me. I asked simple questions to him, and he took it to mean something else. The lines have become much shorter and the reception staff has gotten better. It is their job to know what the patient’s insurance covers and recommend services based on the patient’s needs. Customer satisfaction is a low priority here, except for the doctors all of whom are excellent.
Worst experience ever, never have contact lenses there. They will charge you over 110 dollars for teaching you how to wear it. It you know how to wear contact lenses, they will still charge you 90 dollars as “ service fee”.
They set up an appointment for me and when I got there I was not on the schedule. I had to wait for over an hour and staff was nasty. Also they are pushy about extra products like Lasik surgery. I DO NOT recommend this place!
Awesome, they had to use a metal file to scrape out my eyes but I can see pretty good. They seem pretty uptight here.
Let me start this review by saying that I was a patient at this office for eleven years. The office has always been a little chaotic especially on weekends but I felt the care provided was worth it. That changed this year. My wife and I both had exams performed in August. Afterwards we ordered three pairs of glasses totaling over $500 after insurance, which I paid in full. The start of this experience went sour from the moment we started discussing what our insurance covers. I was told point blank that my insurance does not cover a third pair of glasses, that no ones insurance does, and only after threatening to walk out did they bother to contact the insurance company to learn that in fact I was right. The previous year they screwed me out of this benefit for the same reason but this year I was prepared. Anyone reading this review should question why a business would tell their customer that they are wrong when they stand to make additional money if the the customer is actually right. About two weeks later the glasses were ready so we went to pick them up. At that point we were told that we were due a credit because the insurance covered more than they thought. I gave them my credit card and in a rush to leave (the kids were tired and cranky) I didnt notice that they processed it as a charge instead of a credit. So if youre following the credit owed me doubled. In the proceeding month Ive contacted them three times by phone and visited the office in person to discuss the billing issue. Not a single phone call has been returned. In person they flatly refused to refund the mistaken charge citing that they needed to review the supposed original credit (Im being called a liar essentially). The manager I spoke with fails to understand that credit or not, the mistaken charge should never have occurred and therefore they must refund it regardless of the outcome of their investigation. Ive been forced to dispute this charge with the bank. Additionally, both of my glasses were ordered with the wrong thickness of lens so those need to be reordered. When the optician called to confirm the fee (which I would have paid anyway) for the thinner lens, he confirmed that I was due a credit and that hed apply it to the replacement lens fee. So two people from the office have confirmed to me that my account was due a credit yet I have not received a single phone call from their billing office in three weeks. Mistakes happen but professionals fix their mistakes. This office is not staffed by professionals.
First visit back in 2016 went good except for the horrible glasses I was given-way too adjusted for my astigmatism, couldnt even wear-got good contact lenses though. Anyway, On 2nd visit in 2019, I came to get a contact lense refill/eye exam. I saw Dr. Hotlzberg. I waited for over 1 hour 40 mins.... No apology or recognition of time waited. At that point I received the most uncomfortable and least comprehensive eye exam Ive ever gotten. I have no idea how he could have even gotten a slightly accurate assessment of my vision. The Dr. kept going on about glasses he wanted me to get and seemed very agitated. He didnt perform eye dilation exam like the last dr did. I left feeling very bad.
Major rip off. Went for routine eye exam. Billed insurance company $730.00. Reason (said I had cataracts). Then send me a bill for over $160.00. Sure glad I didnt get glasses.
One of the male staff members for glasses fitting is not very helpful or friendly. Gave me an attitude because of my preference for glasses brands and complained that if I didn’t have an idea of what I wanted he would have to check each set of glasses I tried on to find out if it was covered. Tough luck for him it’s his job and I obviously want a frame that’s covered and not going to cost me a fortune. Also the wait to be seen is disgustingly long because they probably triple book appointments. They also want to bill you through your medical insurance so they can make money off of your insurance and send you for unnecessary preventative tests.
Avoid this place at all costs! Just do a google search and it’s no secret that Woodbury Optical is shady and unprofessional. I don’t go here anymore, but when I did, the waits were very long, the staff was rude and/or incompetent, and they tried to pull some shady billing practices. Stay away!
RUDE...RIP OFF... NEVER AGAIN
From start to finish, from the receptionist to the doctor, everyone was extremely helpful and courteous. Thank you!
Very good for many years.
Rob ClarkSo since he took over the practice from Woodbury Optical his office is now is able to charge Medical Insurance for an additional charge to his office for certain procedures. Its called double billing.Medical and Vision. He will dialate your eyes and ask for your medical insurance card since thats a medical procedure, send in a prescription and your done (even if you didnt fill the prescription) unless you fight it.So now its time to fight this little bill we received because its a moral issue. Morals which they know nothing about.Oh and if you get Melissa to (help you) she will speak down to you. So get ready to contact your insurance providers. The ironic thing is I dont think we would have caught this only because my wife uses her professional last name and my daughter uses her given last name. How many more people has this happened to??Im so glad she an HR manager and will have an influence on who her insurance company will allow her employees to see.
I have been going here for years. The staff is friendly and professional. Tamel is a staff member worth mentioning, he is an excellent technician. I also like Dr. Petrtatos and Dr. Cohen. The only reason it is not a a 5 star rating is sometimes there is a wait, like most medical offices.
Giving 0 stars WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Couldnt get on here fast enough to write my review. Waited 1 and a half hours didnt even get called to see the Dr. The whole waiting room was complaining on how much longer it was going to be. Everyone in the waiting room had the same time or within 10 minutes of my apt time to see the 1 Dr. that was there. AND the staff, specifically the ones behind the desk were AWFUL Ive seen attitudes before but this was BY FAR THE WORST they didnt even care that we were all waiting they continued to talk very LOUDLY abut there personal lives - the office Manager or whomever that lady sits in the back part office with that desk went for a 711 RUN LOL when there was a room full of patients !!! HORRIFIC experience I got up and left wasted 2 hours of my very busy life. PLEASE DONT COME HERE there are so many more Dr.s that are much better than this dump. Oh - and the building hasnt been remodeled since 1970s and it smelled. The DR.s at this practice should really take a step back and look at whats happening, and those ones BEHIND THE DESK. WORST.
Honestly I wish I could put 0 stars because these people are beyond rude. Not only was the receptionist oblivious to insurance policies but she hung up the phone 3 TIMES on me. As a customer bringing in not only money but business that is NOT the way you treat your customers. Not only was the receptionist rude but one of the employees jumped in and started arguing to defend the receptionist knowing what the receptionist had done. They are all the same rude and are in serious need of an attitude check!
Appointment times are grossly ignored. It’s not ok to have a patient wait for over 3hrs to be seen.
I have been going to this place for around 15 years. This is the first time that I have been there since it merged with Malik Eye Care and I do not think that I will be back. I had a 3:00 appoint and was taken at at 4:20. My visit with the doctor was around 10 minutes, most of which he spent with his back toward me while clicking on things at his computer. At 4:15 when I was well past annoyed, I expressed my annoyance to a tall African American man and he said what do you want me to do about it? You were taken by the girl at 3:15. Except for Scott Kornfeld who dispenses the eyeglasses, I found all of the staff who I encountered to be rude and/or in-differential.
The only reason I still go here is bc they go in depth with the routine eye check up. other than the doctors that literally only see you for 10 mins, the rest of the staff and the receptionists are SO rude, incompetent, and are just terrible at customer service. also, I think I might as well switch bc the wait time is just not worth it. I have a life and its not meant to be spent waiting for hours to see the doctor for 10 mins.
Fred was great, knows his stuff!Great experience!
Awful place, factory that books about six patients at your time slot. Waited over an hour and had to leave for work without seeing the doctor.Avoid!
First the positive: The optometrist my wife and I went to was courteous and professional, as was the woman who helped me select my new glasses. However, there are 2 reasons why I will not return to Woodbury Optical. The negatives:1. One of their employees scratched my lens while trying to replace the nose pads on my glasses. He even had the gall to say, wow, I cant believe you didnt notice this big scratch. Its right across the middle of the lens. This was literally right after he took my lenses and put a screwdriver to them to remove the nose pad. He then proceeded to talk very quickly and say, yeah, but its not a problem. We can replace this lens. Your insurance will replace it free of charge. As if that makes it any better that he was trying to pawn off his mistake on me. It then took about 2 months for them to get the lens in because each time it arrived, they proceeded to return the lens because it was uncut. The lens was supposed to arrive uncut because they were going to cut it at their location. Obviously not all employees were aware of this and nobody made a note of it. I had to resolve it myself by calling the lab, my insurance company and Woodbury Optical numerous of times and coordinating the delivery of the lens. Apparently the level of incompetence is so high here that their staff cannot manage to repair a lens.2. In July of 2014 my wife received a routine eye examination at Woodbury Optical. They submitted the claim to our insurance company (Aetna) and was denied. They billed us very quickly thereafter and my wife paid it without thinking about it. They then billed us a second time indicating that we did not pay the bill. We checked our records and reviewed our bank statement and confirmed that not only did we pay Woodbury Optical, but they also cashed the check. So the second bill was incorrect.Upon further inspection we realized that we shouldnt have been billed in the first place because my health insurance company covers routine eye examinations. I called Aetna and they confirmed that they cover eye exams and that Woodbury Optical had submitted the claim as a medical procedure and not a routine eye exam. I then called Woodbury Optical to inform them of all this and they stated that they would correct it. Once they received payment from my insurance company they would refund me.I called back two weeks later and they did not submit the claim. They said it would take six weeks for them to do so. I called back again today (six weeks later) and they are still waiting for their billing person to submit the claim. They would not provide me with a time that this person would do so. When I pressed them as to why it is taking so long to submit a claim, how long does it normally take to submit a claim, and roughly how much longer will it take, they stated that, we are very busy. You can call us back in a few weeks if you want to. Their complete lack of professionalism and common courtesy, plus their attitude and petulance is appalling. Not only have they failed to correct this billing error, but they are also (I believe) using unethical collection practices by incorrectly submitting claims to insurance companies and billing their patrons multiple times (even when they have paid). They should be audited.Clearly, I will not be returning to this location and have filed a complaint with the better business bureau to try and resolve this issue that their staff is either ignoring for financial gain or is too incompetent to handle. I would recommend you do not go here.
The customer service is great
Worst experience ever. The careless doctor forgot to send prescription and when we called back then we were told that dr will be back in two weeks. I wanted him to send prescription to pharmacy not to see him. The staff was also very unprofessional.
The worst customer service! If I can give zero, I will do it!
My wife waited an hour to be seen. I sat in the car. Miserable
The receptionist was rude and a bit oblivious with regards to insurance policies, and I had to wait TWO HOURS before the doctor could see me. Huge waste of my time. Then, when I called the next week to see if my glasses were ready, I was put on hold for fifteen minutes before I got an answer. In future will be taking my business elsewhere.
I wish I could give them half star...they are bunch of unprofessionals and liars ....there word cant be trusted ....they have no idea of what they are talking about ....please keep your distance from them...
Great experience.
They were veryhelpful
Worst experience.
