Nice place served quickly. Ate inside, kind of dark but set the mood for having fun and drinking. Had the fish tacos they were fine, needed a little more seasoning. The chips were hot and fresh and very good! The best part was the MARGARITA FLIGHT! Deeelish. Id go back for the chips and margarita flight.
Son and I went for a date out and he wanted to eat and we seen this restaurant. We had left from seeing the fireworks at Navy Pier and we wanted to grab a bite to eat but fear everything would be close but discover this gem closes at 12a. Perfect ! we had a bit of a wait . I order nachos and burrito plate . The Nacho ls were submerge in some creamy sauce which made the nacho more tasty. Overall, good place .
We enjoyed the food but the service was awful. We were sat at a table and just left. Not once did anyone come over to check to see how the food was. We were asked once if we would like to order drinks then someone came to take our order and was rushing when he did that. After that we sat through our meal and waited for the check. I had the fajita burrito and my husband had the regular burrito.I also asked to be sat at a booth and was told that it would be another 30 to 45 minute wait when there were empty booths in the back that just needed the table to be busted. The food was good but I wouldnt visit again after the service that we received. I went to use the ladies room after we were done eating and it was a mess in there. I ended up using the mens room which was way cleaner than the ladies room.
The VERY BEST margaritas Ive had since my trip to Mexico! 22 and 32oz size choices of various flavors;I chose the spicy jalapeno and enjoyed so much, came back next day for another. Chips, salsa, guacamole and queso were very good.
Very nice place! Went here around noon on a Saturday and was seated immediately. Didn’t have to wait long for the food. It came out quick, and it was very good! The margarita was large and very good at a nice price. Only bad part was there were flies coming in from outside so we had to keep swatting them away. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this place. Great food and great service.
I had the shrimp burrito and it was really good, the presentation left a lot to be desired. They have the margarita flights but I would suggest ordering a regular frozen margarita because the quality of the single order margarita is a lot better then that of the flights. Overall the experience was decent the service was average and the location is excellent. I would recommend this as a spot if you want to grab quick bite but nothing special.
Wow wow wow, I have had one of the best experiences in a restaurant ever. Food was outstanding, service was amazing and environment really good. My friends and I enjoyed this place and will definitely come back!!!!
First of all, the drinks awesome. The food on the other hand was absolutely horrible, I order Chicken Quesadillas and they bought me 3 chicken tacos and when I questioned my waiter side that those were chicken Quesadillas I have never I mean never had chicken Quesadillas that looked like tacos. So here is a picture of what this restaurant believes that are chicken Quesadillas.....never again
This is a hidden gem. The shrimp tacos were delicious. My whole family enjoyed their meal…and it’s hard to please everyone. Definitely recommend!
I ate at this restaurant on 8/28/2021. The food was greasy and didnt have any flavor. The only thing good was the waiter and the water! I would have given them zero stars if I could.
Authentic Mexican food is hard to compete with, this place had the worst Mexican food I have ever had. The carne asada burrito was disgusting. I am never coming back here again. The waiter was sweet but the restaurant is over priced for the type of “quality”.
The place was decent. I had a veggie fajita quesidilla. My husband had tacos. He stated he liked them .
The food was excellent. However, the service was the worst I’ve experienced in a while. We (group of 5) were seated and it took 20 minutes to even get someone’s attention. It took another 20 just to get a glass of water and chips. We were ready to order our food, we told our inattentive waitress we were ready, but she told us she would be back after she did something else. We placed our order, and waited another 45 minutes for our food to finally come out. We spent a good 2&1/2 -3 hours in this place just getting lunch. Our water ran out, no one asked is about refills. Our drinks ran out, again no one asked about refills. If they would have been super busy I could have seen us waiting this long, however most of the time the staff was grouped around talking to each other. Have 2 stars for the food, 0 for the service and experience. It also says on the menu that 18% service charge will be added for groups of 6 or more, we had 5 people and it was added to our bill anyways. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Not bad for a dive bar in a tourist area. The queso is great. Tacos were so so. The tortillas fall apart so didnt make for much.
5 star service and good food at fair prices.. New to the area and eating out every day, this is my favorite spot around here so far.
Fast service, food was good and margaritas were as well. Salsa was served warm, which was different. This is a prime location next to Navy Pier.
The food is honestly tasteless. We had a party of 12 and not a single person enjoyed their food. The drinks are good though!
Worst Mexican food on the planète. I ordered enchilladas mole and I got salad with some refried beans. No sour cream as ordered. Will never order from this restaurant again.
A must visit location in Chicago right outside of navy pier! The most amazing music and drinks made right on the spot! Indoor and outdoor seating and a very welcoming location! The food is a must try as well! The drinks are strong so be sure to eat something 😜 a must visit!
Was seated at the bar and got great Margaritas but an hour after ordering we were told they were out of queso so we cannot get what we ordered but we can have chips and guacamole. 😳 She said if youd like to order something else, so we did and that took another hour. Our tab was 90.85 for 4 drinks and 3 beef tacos. The server/bartender spoke to us 3 times in 2 hours. Terrible service, mediocre tacos but good drinks.
Trash, food was trash very mediocre and so was the service. Service was horrible!!! Waiter sat us, then brought the wrong order not once but 2x then after he brought the wrong order the 2nd time, we never saw him again, he didnt ask if we were OK, if we needed anything else NOTHING. After I found him to get the check I noticed he charged us for the WRONG order that he brought the first time. Then they have the nerve to add gratuity to the bill, he received a $40 tip for horrible a*s service!!! When you add gratuity, waiters and waitress have no need to provide good service, they know theyll be tipped regardless of the service provided. Trash will NEVER return.
Im from out of town and needed a quick bite to eat near the Navy Pier. The vibe in this place is just off...no latin music...tables all smooshed to one side of the restaurant. After eating a stale tortilla chip, I gave a second a try with their salsa.... idk if this is a midwest thing but that was not salsa. I ordered a beef quesadilla, which came out quickly, but it was merely three soft shell tortillas melted in a microwave and served like tacos. I cook better Mexican food in my gringa kitchen.
If you like a bland, non-flavorful version of Mexican food, then here you go. But my experience with Mexican food left this low on my list. Service wasnt that great. Long wait outside to wait at the table. And well overpriced. Save your money and time ...
The food was delicious. The drinks were too. Loved it for my first time being here. Bathroom was big and spacious and clean. Definitely coming here again
Me and my fiancé and her friend and my mother in law just left this place for the first And I must admit the service was excellent, the food was excellent it was a nice environment also. I know we are still in these pandemic times but I definitely had a nice time and we are definitely coming back no doubt. I’m not really a mixed drink type of guy but that margarita float was amazing and their blackened shrimp tacos was awesome too...
This was the worst Mexican food weve ever had. Two of us ordered the burrito with carnitas. The menu states its large, but it was not. Its also literally boiled pork inside of a bland tortilla...Nothing else. They dont refill your chips and salsa and when my son asked for a refill of his lemonade, they responded with, we dont give free refills. This place is terrible.
The tacos were for a 2 month old baby in size. The drinks were pretty good next time I might try the quesadilla if I go back.
Its a great place to take a 💘 one n or family. A very friendly establishment n a great service. Its highly recommended. Thank u Casa Margarita for a wonderful night
Great margarita flight! Sat on the patio and had the perfect view of my fiancé and the sky line!! Victor was our server he was awesome, we’ll definitely be back! Strongly recommend!
The only good thing about this place was the host, a tall guy w long hair in a ponytail- he was friendly and did his job well. Other than that, the service is awful, the food was decent, and the bathroom was not clean. The prices are way too expensive for the quality and amount of food you get. Me and my husband got seated at the bar, ordered something to drink and just waited from there on out. We told the bartender we had to be back at the pier by a certain time and assured us the food should be ready. Not until it was time for us to go and we inquired after a 40 min wait, did she say our food would not be ready. We already paid, so we ended up getting a gift card to compensate. After we returned from the pier, we went back to the restaurant because we’re visiting from out of town and we’re still hungry.. The host sat us at the bar again and we waited some more lol After we finally got our food, the second time around, we ordered dessert- it took 30+ mins, same bartender, never checked in, so we just decided to leave. Mostly everyone around didn’t have food, overheard a young lady sitting close that her order was wrong, a couple next to us never got their order taken after sitting for a really long time. I would not waste your time here.
I would recommend this place, just not now. The day I went, you could clearly tell that the restaurant was understaffed which made the experience an unpleasant one for the most part. Upon arrival I was told to wait 15 minutes, because they had to clean the tables. Those 15 minutes later became 40 minutes and then we were finally given a table. The only two waiters available were jumping around between serving, the register, and cleaning other tables. Therefore our waitress did not really provide great service to us, because she was so overwhelmed. We waited 15-20 minutes to finally get a glass of water, were never given updates on our orders, and were never checked up on to make sure everything was ok. After ordering, it took another 35 minutes to finally get our food, which at that point we were ready to just leave. We received our drinks (the frozen margaritas special), but it wasnt frozen anymore. It was quite liquidy, as if it had been left sitting at the bar for some time. One good thing about the place is the food and portion sizes. The food was tasty and big and that helped me see that Casa margarita wasnt so bad. The place was recommended to my and I believe it was for a good reason, however I dont think that the restaurant is operating at its best right now. I hope that they can manage to have enough staff members so everyones experience can be a more pleasant one.
First off when we first arrived we were standing at the front for 10-20 mins waiting for a host or someone to greet & guide us but they were just looking at us like we we’re crazy. Then someone told us to wait outside & the host would come out to seat us but another 15 mins went past with us standing out in the sun so my sister had to go back in just to find the host( who apparently was hiding in the bathroom).service was awful & coming from a 7 year experienced server you’re supposed to greet & check in on your table from time to time & our waitress did not do such. I ordered some fries because I was very skeptical of the food & even the fries were horrible! Super greasy and just ugh! Chips were stale ! & just ugh never again, not worth the hype or prices. Terrible food & service.
As someone who is dependant on a wheelchair it saddens me to see that they have a wheelchair lift next to their steps but its out of service indefinitely!Im pretty sure thats an ADA violation
The service was very poor, the waiter jorge was very pleasant, the womens bathroom was very dirty and they didnt clean for hours the women had to use the mens washroom
We stopped in for a light lunch, we got a steak fajita quesadilla. It was really good and big enough to share. The service was 👍
AWFUL EXPERIENCE. THE FOOD WASNT PREPARED CORRECTLY AND THE FRIES WERENT FRESH (ROOM TEMPERATURE) THE CHIMMICHUNGA WAS LOADED WITH RICE, W/O CHEESE AS ORDERED AND CONTAINED ABOUT A TABLESPOON OF STEAK AFTER BEING CHARGED EXTRA FOR THE STEAK. THERES NO PARKING AS A RESULT TO THE LOCATION OF THE RESTAURANT, SO BE PREPARED TO PAY $26 FOR UP TO TWO HOURS AT LAKE POINT TOWERS GARAGE. IN ADDITION, YOU HAVE TO WALK AROUND THE BUILDING TO GET TO THE RESTAURANT ITSELF. ITS NOT WORTH A VISIT IF PRIDE IS NOT PLACED BEHIND THE FOOD, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE PRELIMS TO GET THERE. I WONT BE BACK, NOR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
The worst service I’ve ever seen sat there for an hours an a half never received water. Order the shrimpTaco and asked for double rice was given the smallest portion of rice. The only thing good where the drinks this place is all hype no real food. Disappointed 😞
Not only was the food absolutely bland and terrible the service was far worst. We waited almost 20 mins for a host to even give us a table or let us know how long the wait was. All the employees watched us stand here for this amount of time and not assist us not one time I had to ask for a manager for someone to decide to sit us. Once we were dining the waitress barely came to assist us. The margarita flights weren’t all that neither. Don’t come here you will be highly disappointed
It’s really overpriced, unkind, and not worth it........ tacos really not good and margaritas just so sweet and you can’t taste alcohol at all..: there is reason why the google review is horrible...
Got churros and fried ice cream, thank you, but not again 😅
Food Lacked Flavor and it was super greasy. No thanks and never again
After picking out coupons for restaurants we have not been to yet, we landed on casa margarita. It was a short walk considering where we were walking from but there is plenty of parking all around this location. We were taken to a seat quickly but they were not busy. The restaurant is small and kind of dark and has no windows but plenty of tvs on the wall. The menu is a little pricey compared to others locally but could be because of its location close to navy pier. We were brought hot tortilla chips and a warm salsa that was quite tasty. We decided on the margarita flight which gives you 5 8oz margaritas. They were brought out in a nice carrier/holder. The margaritas were very well made and I could see myself enjoying these more frequently. We ordered the ceviche which was dryer than what I am used to and did lack some heat and saltiness. It was still ok but I will probably not order it again. We decided to order the combo fajitas which gives you shrimp, steak and chicken. The fajitas were not bad but the steak appeared a bit tough to chew. The shrimp still had the tail on so make sure you pull tails off first. I am more accustomed to seeing the tails removed for fajitas but its their choice. Warm tortillas and fajitas were definitely filling. We decided to order the fried ice cream as well. This took quite some time to get but was worth the wait. I suggest you order dessert before you are done to give them adequate time. All in all the meal was worth going and we will be back. Total time at restaurant was 2 hours so make sure you have time. Some times good food cant be rushed. I recommend this restaurant to all locals and those visiting who wish so good Mexican food.
Jess the bartender was cute + fun, margarita flight was really good, beer a little musty though.
That el jefe burger was amazing🤤🥴
Great place to visit near the pier, it’s a bit small but the food is sooo good 👍🏼👍🏼
My first time visit, though they were crowded plus me & my besties got there a bit late we still managed to get in and be seated, the doorman and our server was soooooooooooooo nice I enjoyed my time🤗 Wonderful place👍🏼👍🏼
Its a yessss for me every thing was great I felt so good I didnt want to go home I cant wait to visit again
Bartender tried to over charger on 3 different receipts tipping himself 30 dollars and the food was horrible steak was tuff and undercooked and it was my birthday worst experience ever
I didnt enjoy it. Bunch of African american people being loud and rude cant even enjoy myself. Screaming and yelling all drunk. On top of that there not even nice.I rather go to another location.
Ordered a burrito with no cheese or sour cream and it came with cheese in the burrito and sour cream on the plate. After telling another server about the error (I couldnt find mine) nothing happened... I asked again for someone to change it... And waited... And waited... All in all it was just over 30 mins from my burrito arriving to someone coming to change it.. at this stage I just got the bill as my child had finished eating and I couldnt be dealing with waiting on another burrito being made.
Horrible service !!! Employees are very rude !!! Walked in and girl sitting at host desk jus ignored us until the bartender came over . He didnt greet us, jus asked how many and walked us over . After giving our order he walked around cleaned then asked us about out order again and then proceeded to start our drinks !
Tacos are not authentic. Need to hire more staff. I felt bad for our server. He tried so hard to make sure we was OK but he had sooo many different things to do. He most definitely got a good tip for the effort.
Their blackened shrimp is too delicious
Clean establishment and friendly staff. The margarita flight was delicious!
Not the place for food. Probably a nice place for an outdoor Marg by the water though
Food was disgusting this is my 4th time here and all 4 times was horrible. Ill just order drinks
The bathrooms are beyond filthy. We waited 1hour and 30mins for our food. This place is not worth the trip
This was the only place serving food close to the Navy Pier that was open. Long lines but the wrap was nice.
The worst food and service ever. I wouldn’t recommend. I would give minus 5 stars if I could.
They stop taking guest at 11pm, but claims to be open til 2am
Excellent food and service
Good I will be back with some more friends
It was perfect good food and very good service
Our reservation was pretty early in the day. We were seated immediately by one of the most pleasant gentleman. We ordered food and drinks and incorporated some of his suggestions and had an awesome lunch. We were comfortable dining even with Covid, very well spaced out and socially distanced. We will definitely be back.
Bugs everywhere, and in the food mad because we didn’t want to pay for the food
Love this place!!good food drinks and service 😋
Great food
It was fun it is really good for birthdays for adults and children food is amazing also guacamole and steak tacos 👌 its really worth it.
Great service and great staff 👍
Its a cozy friendly place it has TVs all around the place food and drinks are great will go back again
The bartender Jorge was really nice and helpful! Music was fun.The food and margaritas reminded me of Mexican restaurants in the suburbs... Not executed well and drinks too sweet.Only popped in after going to an exhibit at Navy Pier.
Great drink selection
It was the worst experience I ever had . The service was horrible my server was Matt. He need more training and his customers service suck and if you think it was about the coupon its not its about the services and the presentation. Im a General Manager at a restaurant that have servers and I feel your server need more training
Delicious food and drinks!
This place is called Casa Margarita for a reason. While the drinks are good, the food leaves much to be desired with respect to flavor. Portions are good for the price but this location would be best for either pre-gaming or getting some food to sober up. Our waitress was Adrianna and she was fantastic and super patient with our group of six. Highly recommend her.
