Its a nice retail space with an abundant selection of beans, both single origin, blended and also flavored coffee.Unfortunately, there is no roast date on any bags. I personally dont think it wise to buy coffee if it isnt known how fresh it is.(I bought a little anyway because the person helping me seemed to be doing her best.)

Went in to get a cold brew, it ended up being very weak & I didn’t care for the flavor, so I took it back in and asked what they could do and explained nicely about the situation and she said she could put shots in it which would not make it a cold brew anymore so I said I would try it. I still did not like it- the flavor of the coffee was not good. The coffee tasted burnt. The lady working was very rude to me even though I stayed calm and kind. I asked simply if she could refund me, and rudely said no. I would give this less than 1 star if I could. Definitely won’t be returning. Bad coffee, and even worse bad customer service.

My absolute favorite coffee place. Aside from amazing coffee the people there are always helpful & kind. They helped me ship coffee over to my cousin while he was stationed in the middle east, and to friends and family for the holidays.

As usual, the best coffee ever you can get. Nice and cozy place with professional and welcoming staff. You can drink your favorite coffee and buy the coffee (grounded beans as you want) that you like to make at home. Its more than just a coffee shop.

Really liked the coffee here. I tried the vanilla hazelnut coffee. I was worried that the flavors might overpower the flavor of the coffee but they didnt. Just a hint of vanilla and hazelnut.

Excellent coffee either get a hot or iced coffee to enjoy now or coffee to take home and make. My favorite is Jamacian me crazy to enjoy at home

They have some of the most amazing coffee Ive ever had! Specialty coffees for home brewing are wonderful as well. Im a dark roast kind of girl, but Ive loved every variety Ive tried here. The staff are so friendly and warm. I always have a nice conversation with the barista. I moved out of the area a few months ago, but I will always stop by when Im passing through. Love this place!

Great coffee and service

One of the best coffee retailers around. The beans are roasted onsite and they have a wide range of flavored coffees. Some members of my family are very particular about their coffee, and wont touch coffee from most of the well known coffee bars/cafes. They love this place though, and with good reason. If you love coffee, this is a great place to buy some quality beans.

The coffee is very good and the atmosphere is cozy, even in the freezing weather. I asked for soy milk in my latte and the very friendly employees were quick to ask whether I had a dairy allergy and to thoroughly clean all the appliances and utensils before making my coffee. I ordered a sugar free hazelnut and rum soy latte and it is delicious. I dont spring for fancy coffees very often, but this was worth it! I definitely recommend!

My wife and I happened across this place while visiting our son at MSU. We brought home two bags of coffee and I can honestly say we have never brewed better coffee at home. Absolutely fantastic. We normally bring home coffee from Caribou or Starbucks, both of which I thought were great until I tried this coffee. Unfortunately, we live 10 hours from Holt and The Coffee Barrel, but will absolutely continue to order their coffee online. A little more expensive than what we normally buy, but the quality is worth it.

The best place in holt to buy whole bean coffee. Specialty beverages are good and well prepared, if you prefer that. They have recently added more seating, but there isnt much. I mostly shop here to make my own coffee at home.

I have just found my favorite coffee shop in the area! I am a Michigan State student and dont like packed, generic coffee shops for studying, so I took a longer drive to see what I could find. I came across Coffee Barrel, and it was perfect for me. Cozy and inviting decorations, friendly staff, and adequate seating available. I had a delicious matcha latte with almond milk and stayed for almost three hours working on my laptop. The music was relaxing, and the sun shining through the windows made for a pleasant day.

I LOVE a cup of the Highlander Grog any day of the week. When I walk in I’m always greeted and feel welcome. There’s also always people gathered around the largest table. Everything I have tried I have liked.

So inviting and smells great! Unique decor and so many choices. Specialty lattes are custom designed to mimic the flavored coffees. French Kiss is my favorite. Taking some beans home with me today!

The Coffee Barrel is a long-standing favorite of mine dating back to my college days at MSU. For years, I continued to get my Coffee Barrel fix by mail-ordering their beans. Their current location is new to me. They have moved from their old location closer to campus, but the new location has a comfortable, small seating area with tables, chairs and even a couple of armchairs. They have a wide variety of beans available for purchase and I have always found their coffee to be excellent. They roast their own coffee and much of it is fair trade coffee. The entrance is handicap accessible and I believe the bathrooms are as well. Though the bathroom entrances may be a bit narrow to navigate with a wheelchair, I think they are still accessible. A small selection of food is available, although it is the typical cafe fare - pastries, cookies, etc. Ample free parking available in an adjacent parking lot. Although it is a little bit more of a hike from campus these days, it is still a favorite coffee stop for me when Im in the Lansing/East Lansing area!

This is not your typical coffee shop. They seem to specialize in flavored coffees, so if that is your thing you might like this place. Despite an abundance of staff and no customers I stood for 2-3 minutes at the counter to ask where to bus my plate before I just left without an answer. Their 20 oz americano only had 2 shots meaning I paid extra for water compared to the 16oz. In addition, their espresso shots taste like cheap diner quality coffee.

My drink was great, and so was the service. I never have cash though so it would be great if there was an option to tip with a card! Id love to show appreciation for great service :)

I have decided that I like this place better than the other coffee shops in the Lansing area because is always spotlessly clean every time that I have been there. And it has always been relatively QUIET in there. The quite ambience is a Biggby for me.😀 🍵🍵☕Some of the other shops around are so loud and noisy that its distracting or you need to speak loudly so your coffee mate can hear you.They also have a extensive selection of coffees from all over the world for take home purchase. They even have Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee for take home!!! I have been told that it is widely considered to be the BEST coffee in the world by coffee connoisseurs.

We get whole bean coffee every month from Coffee Barrel and we stop in regularly for lattes too! The staff is wonderful and the coffee selection is superb!

Ive been buying my coffee beans here for years. They have a great variety of tasty roasts and blends, great service and the store smells WONDERFUL! Seriously, they could charge just for breathing in there. If you enjoy great, fresh roasted coffee and supporting local small businesses, you cant go wrong with the Coffee Barrel.

Ive been buying my coffee beans from the coffee barrel for at least twelve years. (It was in another location then.) To me, its the best hands down. I could not come back to life in the morning without it. The coffee bar also has a great atmosphere and sweet and friendly baristas. Couldnt be better.

Locally owned and great coffee! We had the Apple Crumble and the Frech Kiss! You cant normally get awesome coffee for reasonable prices! They also have almond milk which was excellent for us due to dairy allergies. They also play music which isnt the obnoxious kind or carzy loud, which I absolutley love! Next time we are in the area, we will be back!

I have been a customer for over 15 years. The coffee is consistently roasted and always fresh. My favorites are Italian Espresso (I use a starbucks barista home espresso machine), Decaf Italian Espresso, and French Roast. Buy this coffee you will glad you did.
