This space really represents the farm, fishing industrial resource extraction and art community of Homer. I grew up in Homer on a homestead and I loved seeing the renovated displays at the Pratt. There are trails behind the museum to be enjoyed aswell!
Great little museum. The mammal specimens and geology exhibits were excellent. The kid section and some of the artwork were also worth admittance.
The history and items in this museum were great. Very well staffed and friendly people working there. We enjoyed looking at the local photos from the early days in homer
The Pratt Museum has Homer history, but always has additional shows! Summer 2021 includes In a Time of Change; Microbial Worlds, which is a mix of work by scientists and artists, showing the interties of all aspects of the world. A marvelous, thought provoking show!!
Just go. There is always a line outside and youll quickly understand why once youve tried their goods. I personally recommend the lemon twists.
Wonderful place to learn about Homer, Alaska and its history and the natural wildlife in the bay and land.
Nice, small, informative museum in Homer. Had a wonderful Micro biology art display when we visited. Has a little bit of history, maritime, geology, and local art work
Small.. Cheap.. Lots of information. Older lady at desk was very helpful and knew quiet a bit about the culture and history. It has local art from modern age people within the last few years and also stuff from tribes many years ago.. The back has animal info and a bird watching camera feed from bird island. Its worth going to once u hit homer to better appreciate ur surroundings
Nice history of area. Unfortunately visited at a time also frequented by a family with unsupervised children running amoke. Staff either unwilling or unable to control situation. So sad that it turned into a chaotic day care center.
A gem in downtown Homer. Though somewhat small, it is crammed with exhibits that provide an insight into the people who came to Alaska for a fresh start. Lots of interact areas with audio about the settlers, plan to spend a lot of time if you get hooked on one of the stories. We also enjoyed the videos in the basement area with the wildlife displays. A plus for my wife who is a quilter were a number of quilts around the building including one that was being raffled off.Outside is a example of a settler cabin including the out-building.A very nice option on any day but especially if you need to find an inside activity on inclement weather.
Would of gone in with wife but 15 💲 each is way to much for any small museumTwo elderly folks didnt think it was very well priced eitherSo you just lost 4 customer s this morning in an empty museum
It Was fine in is very good with time a good place to spend some time in.
Beautiful facilities, excellent exhibits!
Must see museum about the area history.
Small but packed of stuff in the museum. It was just us during my visit . Must be because of covid19 . My two year old daughter loved looking around . Dont miss the drawers .
Truly interesting place to visit. Particularly, enjoyed the historic pioneer home. It was once owned by a women whose hospitality was quite generous to newcomers to Homer. We enjoyed this museum and the neighborhood surrounding it.
Very interesting more of a cultural center rather than art museum!
Really great museum. Spend 3 hours reading content and watching films. Reveals a lot of facts about Homer itself, Exxon oil pollution, locals, animals and history of the place. I’d highly recommend to visit Pratt museum.
The displays tell so much about the history of the area....easy to read....beautiful displays. I appreciated the art show they had on display. I could spend days there.
A very nice building and amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff. A popular spot for tourists in the Homer area. Some of everything in there. A Great historic wood cabin that is furnished with past relics.
I took my wife and my three year old to this museum on a trip to Homer. There was something for all of us to enjoy. Everything from animal skeletons to art by local artists and it was all well done.
I visit the museum often with my grandchildren. Staff is always very welcoming. The kids love feeding the fish, they learn alot about sea lifr. We also love the trails that surround the museum. Always a pleasant experience. Good place to walk dogs too.
Just enough to explain the area and the bay but not too much stuff to overwhelm you.
Great spot for everyone in the family.
Very nice woman that greeted us. Hands on displays, very interesting. Happy to answer any and all questions.
Beautiful gardens, amazing local artists work displayed. A very good collection to represent the immediate area and life.
Full of really great and interesting historical items. There are 3 floors. We were not able to see everything before having to get back on the road.
Very well done information on Alaska culture, history and nature. Enjoyed visit thoroughly. They even have a video about the Kilcher family
Very beautiful, eye catching art and sea creatures. Sea creatures look well taken care of, and a huge selection of primitive Native American art, sea life bone structures, ect. Very nice staff, great for school field trips.
Awesome
Good mixture of modern art and historical artifacts.
Short but the people are really nice and the displays very interesting.
Wonderful displays and great volunteers who are very knowledgeable. We loved the Alaskan womens display
Really cool museumm there was a lot more than I expected. Cool wildlife and Alaska history facts.
Exhibits were very uninspired. The $10 entrance fee goes toward ???? The garden out front is poorly labeled and the pocket guides provided do not reflect most of the plants you see. The guides show plants that are not even planted.
Beutiful little museum that features Homers rich history
Exceedingly friendly staff. There is much to learn with many different types of displays. Definitely worth a visit.
A must see when you visit Homer. It gives wonderful historical insight into how the town endured and uses its resources.
This little building has been an educational and amazing learning tool for the children and entire community for years. So much to see!!!!
Lovely small town museum with a wide variety of engaging and educational exhibits. This museum has a bit of everything, ranging from art to science.
Good place for people of all ages to have a fun learning experience.
