One of the best book shops Ive ever been in!Were on a road trip through the south and literally just made a stop in Birmingham to visit the Alabama Booksmith - absolutely worth it! All books are a one of a kind. They are hand picked, signed by the author and lovely presented. The unique book selection as well as the incredible friendly staff made this a wonderful literary experience.P.S. An especially thanks to the kind employees who helped us jump start our car afterwards, we couldnt be more grateful :)

Alabama Booksmith is an awesome independent bookstore with signed editions and a wide variety of authors. They have a huge selection of Southern authors, and they frequently have authors in for book signings and readings. Very nice staff. Love this store!!

Likes it more than I thought I would! On the outside, it may not seem like much, but inside it is a cozy, magical world of signed books. I left with a handful I was pleased to find. They have quite the variety, too - something for everyone!

This is a wonderful and unusual book shop. It has a limited selection, with all books displayed face out, and all signed. It is not the same as a mass-market bookstore, but a terrific curated collection with friendly staff who love and understand books.

There was a little confusion with my order and when I left a message I had a call back right away and the matter wad resolved . Very polite and caring.

A great hidden gem! Their specialty is signed, newly-released hardbacks. Once purchased a David Sedaris book there and had it signed by him as a gift for a fan! That said, there are often visits by famous writers. I only wish it was a bit more accessible. Not your average bookstore!

I have to say that its the best independent bookseller we have left in Birmingham. Jake (the owner) supports many book-related charities, including the Literacy Council (teaches adult literacy), and seems to show up at just about any literary function around town. Ive seen him at Rotary meetings providing books when famous authors speak and dinner parties introducing new authors. Very supporting of the many folks around here who do actually read. My dad, ever the book worm, always loved Jake and the store, and that was always a great recommendation to anyone who cared about books in Birmingham.

I went to this store by accident. I was looking for the Little Professor. I was surprised when I rang the bell to enter and was told that they only have signed books!

Jake (owner) is very helpful very knowledgeable and offers an amazing selection of signed books. I highly recommend this store. My wife and I love it enough that we often driver over 2 and half hours to visit this store.
