Came in for a simple flat repair. They were courteous and reasonably priced. However the tire went flat again, and then again. Not of their doing but something with my specialized rims. They diagnosed the problem, retrofitted a different size tube and gave me all the information so that it wouldnt happen again. There were no additional charges. I know they did not make out ahead on this job but they did win some repeat business and referrals. Great place.

Awesome bike shop! Tonka Cycle & Ski has been my go to bike shop for over ten years. Their service is always excellent and they have mechanics that are up on all the latest innovations and can help the most hard-core riders like me with what they need. They are also always willing to work with people having no bike knowledge to find the right bike or equipment with no high pressure sales tactics. They are truly focused on getting folks set up with a bike so they will actually get out and ride.

Crashed bike in Hopkins and needed wheel trued. Tonka just about closing, stayed open and were super helpful. Offered to get me back on road or keep bike to completely repair. Bought Salsa Journeyman last year from them. Left bike and so thankful it will be repaired in ~2 weeks. Always enthusiastic, always helpful. Aching and scratched up but really happy for beyond good service.

Stopped by on a beautiful second day of spring. The place was crowded, but they were performing repairs on a first come first served basis. After a short wait a wonderful mechanic solved my problem, Kept me informed, and the repair charge was much less than I expected. Great support and staff.

These people are the best! I never feel like Im over sold on equipment, which we all know can get expensive -- especially with growing kids. They have a wonderful ski/boot trade in program, which makes getting into and staying in the sport affordable. Great mix of gear and clothing, including major brands, as well as unique, cool options. Ive also noticed that the same staff are there year after year, which must say something! Highly recommend!

Great staff. Theyre all helpful and seem to genuinely know about the products. They are extremely thorough and honest with services. Prices are great. It must be why this place is always busy. I have dropped a bike off for a tune up and they said it would be 2-3 weeks but then ended up finishing about 10 days later.

Never good service. Typically ignore their customers. I Currently have a warranty issue. The shop promised to call the manufacturer on Monday and call me back. Now Tuesday night and they haven’t called yet. (I was lied to on the phone) I promised not to go back before. My mistake for doing it again. Ugh.

This was my first time going to Tonka Ski and Cycle. I was in a pinch to find a ski package and had no luck elsewhere. The service here was incredible, super attentive and not condescending unlike their competitors. The pricing was also very reasonable. I worked at a ski shop growing up and can vouch that their employees know what they are talking about. My plans were to pick up the skis in a week, however was invited a couple days later to go skiing. I called them to see if there was anything they could do and they had the skis ready to go for me within one hour. It was clear they were passionate about helping me out. Based on my experiences elsewhere in comparison to Tonka Ski and Cycle they have earned my business for life!

Ive had 3 encounters with the people here and every single time has been over the top customer service. They will go in depth with all of your questions, as well as go out of their way to find an answer for you. This is the place to go whether you are a brand new day one into snow sports or 20+ years. Cannot recommend enough.

Steve and Emily were fantastic! We came in to purchase our first ski helmets and Emily took the time to help us make sure we knew how they were supposed to properly fit. We also were just browsing ski socks not sure that we necessarily needed them, but Steve did such a great job of explaining the perfect fit between the styles we decided to give them a try. Its always great to receive good customer service, but these guys go above and beyond! We will be back the next time we need more ski gear.

The staff here is amazing! I can not count how many times we have walked in with gear that needs repaired and either walked right back out or had it back before they said it would be complete. We use them exclusively for all of our biking and skiing needs.

Amazing staff they act like you are the most important person in their whole shop. You can really tell that they want you on a bike and are willing to give you amazing deal. Over all I was blown away by how they treated us and their service. 10/5 stars across the board!

First off, let me state, I like ALL bike shops since they each have something unique to offer or specialize in a particular type of rider. That being said, what I love about Tonka is the fact that every employee loves biking and also want to know every detail about what you want in a bike in order to help make the best choice for you.There are shops where the mechanics wont interact with the customers, shops where they push one bike style or brand over another. At Tonka, all the folks Ive talked with have mentioned other competing brands or other styles of bikes and have educated me on what to look out for when comparing bikes. I always leave their shop more educated than when I walked in and thats something that I cant say about other local bike shops.

Stellar customer service! I walked in there and asked them if they had any solutions to a problem I was having with my bike. After spending a good amount of time looking at my bike, not only did they solve the problem, they did it without charging an arm and a leg. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I do not recommend using them for a bike tune up. I brought my bike in and paid over $300 for a major tune up and had problems right away with my bike.

Tonka Cycle & Ski is wonderful. My mother took me there to buy my first entry level road bike; It took about a half hour to get fitted for it, and they did everything they possibly could to make sure I was getting the right bike. and Ive been coming there for everything I possibly can bike related since. The guys and gals that work there are laid back and passionate about what they do, and have always taken the time to explain exactly what the problem is and how to fix it. If you need advice about anything bike related, TC& Ski is definitely the place to go.

Thank goodness for small bike shops. Last week I became a repeat customer after 8 years. This buying experience was just as enjoyable as the last one. I spoke to four different employees - knowledgeable staff in every department. Each one took the time to listen to my questions and provide me with straight answers. It felt like I was talking to a fellow biker and not a sales person.

Always a helpful and friendly shop. Whenever I needed a small spare part or two, they would give it to me free if they had an extra cap or something sitting around. When I needed maintenance done, they charged a reasonable price and would commit to having it done quicker than other local shops

I cant say enough good things about these guys so Im just going to say They are Great! My sons cheap Target bike had failing brakes and a bent rear wheel. For a reasonable price Tonka Cycle adjusted the brakes and straightened the wheel--While I Waited! Best consumer experience Ive had in years!

Just had my bike serviced there for a longstanding problem that other shops have attempted to fix but only masked the problem for it to return later. The shop here fixed it in 20 minutes because the guy actually bothered to try and ride it around after making adjustments, quickly diagnose problems, and consult with the other staff working to come up with the best solution. After all this I wasnt even charged for labor and the parts they replaced were very affordable. While I was waiting the staff was very friendly and attentive and never bothersome, such a far cry from the usual pretentious and condescending bike geeks you find in these places. If you want reliable and friendly service where you wont get railroaded on parts or repairs, these are your guys.

This is a great shop. They offer top quality products and great service. Their turnaound on bike service is very quick. We get bikes there, and skis too.

These guys are super knowledgeable and always willing to get their geek on re: chainline, stem lengths, gear ratios, q factor, boost spacings and such. Theyve been a huge help getting me back up to speed with New tech after a near 15 year hiatus from cycling. I buy a lot of stuff on Craigslist but try to spend enough money at their store so that they will still talk to me.

A friendly neighborhood bike and ski store with a great owner, excellent mechanics and knowledgeable staff. We have been coming here for over 20 years. They usually have what we need or can order it for us.

UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! My 7 yr old son and I took his new (used) bike in today that had a few issues. This was our first time at this store. We usually use a different bike store but were close by today. An employee named Ben helped us. It was the best customer service I have ever experienced...period. He put a new grip on the bike, adjusted the brakes that were a little soft, and fixed an innertube/tire issue that he noticed. We also asked where the helmets were located as my son needed a new helmet. Ben walked us to the helmets and spent a good 5 or 10 minutes explaining helmets and fitting my son with the perfect helmet. He even went outside with us so my son could test ride the bike to make sure the brakes were working properly. He didnt even charge us for the labor! It is rare to come across such a genuine person such as Ben who obviously cares about his work and about people. When it comes time to bring our bikes in for the full tune-ups we will definitely be requesting Ben. He is the most knowledgable service employee Ive ever had anywhere. Because of this experience, our family will definitely be changing bike stores!

Tonka cycle is an outstanding bike shop. My old clunker works as good as new after an appointment in their service shop. They looked at and adjustment some things that I didnt even mention, and werent what I brought it in for. Extremely reasonable prices as well. Cant say enough good about these folks.

I bought a Volagi Viaje XL last year and this year I was walking by Tonka on my way to Ace Wine and Spirits and they had an awesome sale on some last-year model bikes. I decided to grab a Salsa Mukluk instead of going to the liquor store. My girlfriend was not too happy about this.I had planned to do the MS 150 this year and was training on the fat bike a good bit. Part of the training regimen for the 150 mile road ride was aggressively riding the Mukluk off-road down steep hills with many jumps. About two weeks ago, I broke my wrist while taking a hard landing and subsequently hitting a tree. My girlfriend was less than pleased with me coming home broken and beaten up, but she was happy that instead of doing the MS 150, I could then accompany her to a wedding.I had committed to the MS 150 and have dozens of co-workers doing the ride. Today I walked in to see Jason and see if they had any recumbent bikes to rent. He asked Steve if they could work something out and these guys made it happen- they rented me a recumbent bike so that I can still do the ride! Girlfriend is unhappy about going solo to the wedding but ultimately happy she doesnt need to hear me whine about not being able to do the ride next weekend.Bottom line is that Tonka Cycle is the place to buy your gear and accessories. These guys are the best at what they do, passionate riders themselves, and also care about you as a fellow enthusiast. Big thanks to these folks!

This is an above & beyond kinda bike shop!! I ran over my three-year-olds bike accidentally & couldnt get the rear tire to take air. I went in figuring I would at minimum be buying a tube. They took my sons bike back & fixed it while he watched. We left with the bike in perfect condition, and when I asked what I owed him he said nothing. They may have comped that service, but they earned a customer for life.

The best! Theyve never tried to oversell. I started going here after another shop wouldnt repair my bike and said I had to get a new one. It may be old, but it works and these folks fixed it for me. Theyve also told me I dont need a time up where other shops would have just gone cha ching.

The person that said they have poor service. Keep in mind they are a busy shop if you need help ask. I love the fact they do not hassle me if I just come in to look around and if I ask they are more then willing to help.

Finding a bike shop you can trust is almost impossible. After moving here from Chicago and leaving my beloved Get-A-Grip-Cycle I visited every bike shop in the area. I first walked into Tonka Cycle looking for a Chariot pull behind for my daughter, and quickly realized this shop had their stuff together.Their maintenance team is one of the best I have ever seen, and are the only team I now trust to touch my bike. They are always on the money with the dates they promise things, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure your bike is in perfect safe shape.The only negative I would say is that they do not carry a large variety of high end bike frames outside of Giant which forces me to go to other bike shops for buying frames and gear which is a shame. But, even if I buy it some where else I only let these guys service my bikes!

Let me just say that I have never encountered the poor service that others have. They have always been very concerned about my business. Including, after three months of using a pair of uncomfortable ski boots they more than fairly did what ever it took to get me the right pair. I trusted them with my winter activities so much that I decided to trust them with my bicycle. I LOVE MY bicycle and I was not going to trust some supermart technician with my bicycle.

It is a good place to shop for bikes .. the team over here is knowledgeable and have patience to help you with your search.. they mistly and specifically have giant bikes .. as I was told its the worlds biggest bicycle manufacturers.. I am not sure how true that is .. need to Google ..They have plenty of options in different bikes and less options on the brands .. they do not have in house credit program to sell the bikes on a pmi basis.They have a in-store work shop for bike repairs and tune ups.

This shop really cares about its customers. I had a broken brake lever on my mountain bike a few days before a race and they had to order a part. They called me the day before the race when my bike was supposed to be done and said that the part that came in was defective and would not work. But instead of stopping there and telling me I couldnt race, they actually threw a whole new brake on the bike and let me borrow it for the weekend. If you are sick of getting calls from your shop telling you something doesnt work, give these guys a try. They will call and let you know perhaps why something doesnt work but will also accompany that with the solution letting you know what will and how they can make it happen. I will be doing all of my service and buying future bikes from this shop.
