Arrived at 6:05pm, according to website and Google place should be open. Closed....no signs offering any explanation..looked closed down nothing like the pictures on here suggested. Triple checked etc and was certainly the right place.

The service was absolutely insane. Ive never received better service at a restaurant before. They were all so knowledgeable and kind. They were minutes from closing and happily made me an order to go. I was really,really impressed. The food was fresh and outstanding. If your ever in Houston, this is a must try! Thought this was a very strange concept. Sushi and kosher?!? To my surprise, everything we ordered was AMAZING! Must try their Kobe beef hamburger,... $30 and worth every dime!! I didnt order sushi though. I would definitely recommend!

It was Flemings pricing @ Saltgrass quality. Dont get me wrong, the food was decent, just expected more.It was only 2 other tables there. 1 sounded like a mob meeting & the other was how to manipulate a tax situation with a business in their favor...for weird vibe

Was excited to come by based on the positive reviews but was disappointed to learn that the negative reviews are well warranted. We walked into an empty restaurant with nobody to greet us. We stood up front for 5 minutes but after garnering looks from people who clearly worked here who said nothing to us, we simply left and walked next door to el ranchero (highly recommend).Edit: thanks for your response. I came on a Monday, which falls clearly between Sunday-Thursday. The fact that someone looked right at us without offering any help tells us enough. Best of luck

Wonderful restaurant. The food is Kosher for those of the Jewish faith. The staff were friendly and attentive. We started with the Salmon Calamari which was incredible. For my main dish, I chose the Southwest Chicken Caesar salad. The presentation was perfect as was the flavor. I will be returning again.

Maybe the best kosher restaurant in the country. When we arrived, we had just pulled into town as part of a cross-country road trip. We got there at an odd time because of the traveling (around 3 PM) and the place was almost empty. It was the middle of Houston Restaurant Week and they had special menus. I had kids with me ranging in age from 1 to 6 and we all left very satisfied. The brisket and the chefs signature habanero sauce were both utterly outstanding.The host took an interest in us and when he found out we were road tripping and on our way to New Orleans, he took the time to tell us about kosher places that we should visit while we were there. If you are going to Houston, Genesis is a must visit!

Yesterday was my first day there and I loved it so much I really recommend this place to everyone if u want soul food this is the place thank you brothers for the good costumer care and kindness I can ectually feel the love 💕...I will keep going as longest Hashem keeps giving me life ...

Literally the best kosher meat I’ve ever had in my life! I didn’t even know you could get such big cuts of meat. We literally went back 3 nights in a row. I suggest getting the slow cooked beef rib!

My boyfriend and I were here for lunch on Sunday. We are absolute foodies, and between the reviews and pictures this place was an absolute match. The restaurant wasnt terribly busy, but had two large tables and a few couples scattered about. When looking at the menu, absolutely nothing stood out, but we are into trying new things. We ordered the shwarma fries, and a couple of burgers. How this place claims to be a steakhouse is beyond me. There was one steak option on the menu. The fries were good, but the burgers were absolute garbage. The fried pastrami tasted like soggy bacon, the burger was dry, and had no flavor. The only thing my dish had going for it were the pickles. Food aside, the service was an absolute travesty. It felt as though the waiters themselves must have been doing the cooking because they sure werent serving the guests.We were there for over two hours, and it only took us 20 minutes to pick at the food. I usually give places more than one try, and it is unfortunate to say I will not be returning. It gets two stars only for the pickles.Review edited to say: the owner came back with a sassy remark saying Im a dishonest reviewer. It is almost impossible to complain to the staff when you barely see them. My review stands. I am not complaining just to complain, or receive anything out of it. I am reviewing to give honest feedback on a lackluster experience.

The owner of the restaurant is very attentive to the guest dining here. I love the Ribs and mash potatoes. Best damn restaurant in the city regarding clean food for humans to consume.Although HOUSTON lacks Kosher restaurant options, Genesis can compete with any restaurant in Houston! I love this place.

Ordered a Shabbat take-out package for some business travel and I couldnt be happier. Coordinating the order was effortless, and between the attention to detail from the packing and organizing the containers to the freshness of the food, you can tell these people are a very professional team. Amazing flavors, I recommend the chicken salad and the mashed sweet potatoes. Big shout out to David and Norman for their outstanding customer service, looking forward to my next order already!

Genesis restaurant prepared food for our Passover holiday. Excellent food. Excellent service. And great delivery service, even though we don’t live in Houston. Thank you!

I visit this spot a lot since I work in the area. I got to say their service is always awesome and they keep the place neat at all times. Rates are convenient and they serve large portions.

Last night was the first time we visited this excellent restaurant. But It is definitely not the last time. We had great time with the attentive service, with the superb food and booze and with the comfortable pay. We will surely come back in a short time.

Good food, attentive service. They dont have a liquor menu yet so drinks are limited to traditional mixed drinks. Extensive menu, and separate extensive sushi menu. They were accommodating about switching out side dishes from the menu. Pretty reasonable prices for most entrees.

Dined there and enjoyed their catering. I dont eat meat, but they have sushi options and the best broccolini side dish (I order 2-3 and make it a meal). I could live on their broccolini; its that good. And their onion ring tower is #goals.

Everything was just okay. Definitely not worth the price.

We were stuck at Houston Hubby airport and Genesis went out of their way and found a driver to come out and deliver food to us. The burgers were excellent, well packed so that nothing got soggy during delivery, and everything was fresh and delicious. We were so appreciative of the good food and how accommodating they were to us.

Wow!!! What a restaurant!We recently had our sons Bar Mitzvah here and it exceeded our expectations. From the food, to the ambiance and of course the great service. The Ultimate dining experience, it is high-end and has a full bar with amazing drinks. The prices are good desserts are fantastic and we love going there for the high end strictly kosher food. Ambience is cute. Service is decent. They have a unique menu but its pricey and the food is mediocre. We ordered spinach artichoke dip, california roll, soup, steak and a chicken dish. I would only come back to try the desserts.

Only ate here once on Christmas vacation -- but the menu was fantastic. The service was great. Hubby has a swallowing disorder but he wanted the ruben -- and when it came the meat was butter soft. If I lived in Houston this would be a regular haunt. As it is, we found it a very special place to dine.

I regularly stop by buying some food here. I like the fast service and well cooked dishes. Kudos.

I have a fantastic lunch experience and a terrible dinner takeout experience, so I have to split the difference.Lunch: Great food, great atmosphere, prompt service and reasonable prices.Dinner: Wrong burger order, cooked to the wrong temperature, wrong salad dressing, and a $4 upcharge on a lunch menu item that we werent even informed about until pickup (we would have changed the order).

I was in there several nights ago for a business meet and was blown away.I did not expect an upscale Manhattan standard kosher Steakhouse in Houston Texas.The decor is beautiful, the colored lighting adds color and mood, the dramatic lit up tree in the center, heres the well appointed bar, the comfortable booths and many other seating options.the food was amazing from the appetizers through dessert and the service was beyond great.I met the owner who was extremely friendly and welcoming. Overall a reason to visit Houston on its own!

New location. The one in Bellaire is closed name off sign. Had soup of day at barwith a glass of wine, was delicious. Server was pleasant. I need a different income bracket to return. The people who came to eat all seemed to know everyone, so assume steaks are worth the price.

If you need kosher this is pretty much the only choice. Expensive but ok food. There is lots of parking outside. Dont go for the sushi or steaks. Have a salad or a burgher and you will be under $40 per person.Service is friendly but you feel they want to sell you the extensive stuff.Go to this place if you need kosher, otherwise you can do much better than this

I want to love this place. Its so nice to have a kosher steakhouse in town. Instead, I just like it. The environment is nice, the appetizers are great. The steaks are only OK though. Never have much of a crust, and the cheaper ones are a bit too chewy. When they have the rib special though, that is wonderful.

The food is much more Gourmet and tasty than you would normally expect or kosher restaurant period is obviously created with love. The service is also exceptional. And the owner is very philanthropic and very very well respected in the community. If youre in Houston this is definitely worth a stop.

What an AWESOME experience. I was in for a re-union with people from a church in Houston, and they opted for Genesis as they wanted a place that I would be comfortable and be able to eat in.I was blown away by the place, the ambiance, the service, and mostly (and most Importantly), by the food. Everything I had there was just made perfectly. I took the leap and ordered the Cowboy (a 24 oz. steak), because you just cant get that in Pennsylvania! Oh, was it worth it! And I normally hate to order steak in a restaurant, as I feel that I will always make it better on my grill at home. But NOT here! First, the meat is just different than what we get in the Northeast. And it was cooked exactly as I asked for it to be.If you travel to Houston, and are a kosher eater, you just HAVE to try this place. That steak was like nothing Ive ever tasted back home. You will NOT be disappointed. Its a little expensive, but one of those times that you say, Yes, it was a bit expensive, but worth every single cent. Just outstanding. Kudos to Jason, he was(is) a delightful host, and created a marvelous experience that you can take people to and feel very proud of the restaurant that youre taking them to. Thanks for a great dining experience!

The food was outstanding. The service was excellent. The 60 day aged ribeye is a rare treat and well worth getting. I loved it but not everyone will. Its not a juicy steak. Instead its a much more complex flavor style.

Poor customer service and over priced food. Its great to have more kosher food options, which is why many people are hesitant to post a poor review, but the food isn’t worth the money. Many of the dishes taste like they have been a refrigerator too long.

I travel to Houston on business a couple of times per year, and often need to arrange for delivery kosher meals to other venues. I have found Genesis to be a superb option for this, as they will work with you personally to ensure that you get the right meal in the right place at the right time. The food is delicious and it can be plated on real (non-plastic) plates with metal flatware if desired (for a fee).

It was my first visit during Restaurant Weeks and I really enjoyed it. It was all good including the decor, the service and the food. Its the first place Ive seen a $200 steak on the menu.

First time to eat there. Left a $3.00 tip but l left $2.00 and $100.00. David was my waiter, I was still outside talking to my friend and he comes out and gives it back to me. David needs to be commended for his honesty. I would never have known that I did this and probably forget where I left it.

I am picky when it comes to steaks. It is really easy to mess up a steak. They can go from raw to way overcooked in seconds. The first time that I visited Genesis, I was pleasantly surprised to experience a perfectly executed black and blue steak. I came in with the expectation that I would be sending the steak back once or twice in order for it to be properly cooked.Subsequently, I have enjoyed their chicken dishes and their Mo burger is pretty phenomenal.The ambiance is steller, the service is great.Pro tip: you need to ask for bread. They dont bring it to you as a lot of people who dine there dont want it and they dont want to waste it.I have not tried the deserts, but I hear great things about them.

The 12 oz steak tonight was delicious. Best Ive had in a restaurant in a long time. Much better than I had at the fancy Wall Street Restaurant in New York. Theres also a very good grilled vegetable Tower.

My family and I came here yesterday for the first time, we was celebrating my sisters birthday. The atmosphere is nice, quiet and elegant, the staff is so nice. The price for the food is a tad expensive; but you get what you pay. The food was ok. I started off with the fresh rib taco rolls, which were AMAZING. I originally chose the smoked duckling for my dinner; but had to request something else because, it was salty. The chicken penne was DELICIOUS and sauteed broccoli was also good.

Genesis Steakhouse is by far one of the best restaurants I have been to in a long time. I am a complete foodie and one of my favorite things to do in Houston is to check out the restaurant scene. With that being said, I hardly like to go back to a place twice because Houston has so much to offer but I will DEFINITELY be back to Genesis! The Tuna Poke is incredible and the Onion Rings are to die for! I also got the Tuna Steak which was cooked completely to my liking, which is very rare occurrence for me! I was with friends and each of them had only fantastic things to say about their Steak and I will definitely have to try that next time! The bartender was also very creative and skilled at making different cocktails. The ambiance, service, quality of food and entire atmosphere makes this a perfect restaurant no matter the occasion!

We held a catered event at the Genesis Steakhouse, a Sunday morning brunch - Texas style. We sat down with Jason (the owner) before hand to run through some menu options and a few other questions. Other than that, every detail was taken care of. Food was top stuff. Smoked brisket was mouth watering! All in all everyone who came that morning left with nothing but praise. Ive eaten there before but this showed their class more than anything.

I come here not only because it’s kosher but because the meat tastes really really good. It’s succulent and has a lot of flavors. You get your money’s worth in my opinion.

Went to Genesis tonight, and got the Bruce. It was delicious, the burger was juicy and had an awesome texture, the beer battered onion rings were crispy and fluffy, and everything was hit fresh and extremely tasty. We also split the artichoke spinach dip appetizer and it was delicious. Two thumbs up for dinner tonight.

First time to dine here for a work lunch. Food was superb from the appetizers to the dessert. The atmosphere was delightful, not busy like most places. Im only giving them 4 stars because it took forever to get our dessert. I had the chicken fried chicken....the breading was different than what you would get at any other restaurant however it was seasoned to perfection and the chicken was tender and juicy. A co-worker orderedthe prime ribeye, it was seasoned perfectly and tender, it was ordered to cook as medium.....it was delicious to say the least. For appetizers we tried the tacos and wings, the tacos were made of brisket which i absolutely loved and the wings were crispy and tasteful. Please see attached photos of the menu items we all selected...this place gets a thumbs up and is definitely a must try.

I have dined here before with few clients and had a wonderful experience, from service to timely arrival of appetizers, drinks, main course and desert.I decide to go today on Valentine Day with my wife and two daughters expecting the same experience that i have received on previous visits. They were very busy as any good restaurants would be on Valentines night. I waited for 20 minutes, got seated and didnt have anyone come look at us until 20 minutes later when this guy named (David) comes and asks if anyone has taken care of us and i said no. Thank god he asked and what a gentleman he was. The whole experience was good, very sketchy service due to a busy night but no complains on that front.What bothered me at the end was that i had three entrees that were only half eaten and David was going to pack them up for us and the manager comes and places a pot (picked up from another table) in one of our dishes and i immediately told David not to pack that one for us and David also told the manager that he was to pack these entrees to go. Manager just acted like nothing had happened and I expected the manager to at least offer an apologies if not a discount but i got none of it. It is high end restaurant and we went there for service and good dining experience and at the end it just left a very sour taste as the manager didnt even acknowledge that he made a mistake.

Atmosphere was ok, small entry way and waiting area. We recently had reservations at 730PM had a 30min wait time on top of our reservations. Hostess said the restaurant was understaffed, needless to say we did not stay for the 30min wait. Genesis needs to apply a better policy when it comes to those with reservations, that’s why it is called a reservation. Genesis seems to have great reviews however, an understaffed restaurant is inexcusable.

We arrived for lunch with an reservation an hour ahead of time. The place was empty, not busy or crowed. No one was at the receptanace desk. Once seated we sat there until finally they brought out water after waiting for 5 mins. No one asked us if we wanted an alcoholic beverage or if we need assistance with the menu with this being our first time. After 15 minutes and not ever seeing our waiter, we had to find him. Then, we order our food and after another 35 minutes we could not wait any longer . So, we found our waiter again and told him to box it up, paid our bill and left. Cant say if the foods good havent ate it yet. The point is it shouldnt take an hour and 15 minutes for lunch when the place is not busy.

Used them for take-out on business trip to Houston. Delivery was always on time and quality of food and packaging was excellent. Didnt make it to the restaurant itself so cant comment on that.

I feel bad giving this restaurant a less than average review, since Ive gone there several times. This last time we ordered the Genesis Steak, medium, and it came back overcooked - mine was well done and my wifes medium well. Since we were with good friends, we simply ate what was served and made no scene. But at $45 for an 8 oz cut, it better be right. These are kosher meats, which means salted and drained of blood, which adds a nice salty overtone and preserves the good meat flavor of not overcooked. Quite a lot to pay for mediocrity. Its also different than what weve come to expect. My sons hamburger was very good, but worth nowhere near $24. A high end burger should cost $10-$15 plus a bit more for custom kosher prepared meat, but again, one better deliver quality when one is charging such a premium.Im Genesis defense, we were surprised because previous experiences were more positive. IF we go back, I will update this review.(By the way, the entrees come with a side, but the really good sides are separated a la carte items)(Their chicken soup had great underlying body and flavor, but was oversalted. Kenny& Ziggies and the NY Coffee Shop make it better for greater value)
