Came here because I wanted to try out the food. Very delicious and at a good price. The sandwich has soo much meat and the French fries were nicely seasoned and crispy.The cooks and owner were super nice too. Honestly recommend. You get very good food quality at a low price! (My whole meal with drink was $11)

Located in the heart of Montrose, Al’s Quickstop is a neighborhood staple for all thjngs Gyro.It’s actually a convenience store with a kitchen in it. Hahaha.I ALWAYS get the Gyro plate, because it comes with a side of great quality and delicious hummus, a warm fluffy pita bread, and diced salad.I took a photo a how juicy the meat is here, because everywhere else always seems dry and gray colored. When you bite into this meat it’s succulent and exploding with flavor. Also the rice here is much different than other places. Has actual roasted tomatoes and onions. Moist and flavorful. Be sure to order an EXTRA tzatziki sauce because you will definitely finish the first one.ALSO!!, get a GRYO QUESADILLA!!!!I mean imagine a delicious quesadilla you love except now the meat is this juicy juicy gyro meat. I haven’t seen this anywhere else so get one while you’re here.Hope to hear you’re reviews as well.

I ordered from Uber Eats today. The food was beyond delicious. It was exactly as pictured, delicious, hefty portions, with the perfect temperature. I ordered the Gyro plate and lentil soup they’re both a 10/10.

Ive been coming to and ordering from Als for almost 13 years and it remains one of my very favorite spots in town to eat. The owner is lovely and the food is incredible, as is the price. Cannot recommend enough.

Am regular at Rudyard’s British Pub next door. I was in the manor and decided it was time to try the Convenience store/ Mediterranean/ Tex Mex restaurant. I had a vegan sampler platter my flexeterian friend had a chicken fajita taco. Mine was spicy, flavourful and generously portioned. Set inside a convenience store, this is a place to have a quiet lunch or dinner, no frills meal inside the eclectic Montrose neighborhood. Much more than the best Mediterranean offerings on the menu, burgers, salads, Mexican and breakfast tacos.

One of my favorite places to get food, their cauliflower is the best Ive ever had. Everything on their menu is amazing.

Best Gyro in Houston by far. The meat is juicy, tender and full of flavor. You cant go wrong with anything here, especially the Mediterranean food. Definitely try out the Gyro Quesadilla, Gyro Fries, Gyro Plate or just the plain Gyro.

I love this place and walk here almost every weekend for a breakfast taco. The service is very friendly (if sometimes a bit delayed), and they definitely remember the regulars. The food here is also surprisingly good for a convenience store. They have some of the most tender, flavorful and well-prepared gyro meat I have ever had. The hummus is also very well done.

Maaaaan they literally have THE BEST Gyros in Houston.... I’ve gone around and tried almost every place that sells them and this is my first choice ALWAYS... customer service is always on 10 and it’s a store so they always have any other snacks you may need. I’m so glad I found this place. Must try.

Uber Goods was always recommending me this but OMG it blew my mind. My family is unique: dad doesn’t like to get away from his Mexican food (only on occasions) and my mom and I LOVE Mediterranean food and trying new places. Anyway, this place is perfect, because all of us were happy and even my dad tried some of our food and he loved it. I especially like that they cooked the carne asada right on the spot. 10/10. Will recommend.

Al told me he has the best sharma in Houston, so I got one. Ate it, it was delicious. Tried others since, Al is right . Havent found one better. He told me this 5 years ago.

I order from AL Quick Stop through Uber. I love tzatziki sauce and like it inside my shawarma. When I opened the sandwich to add my sauce there was hair inside. I contacted the establishment directly to see if they would be a credit on file for me to be compensated or simply pick up a free sandwich at a latter date because I was able to leave work and swap it out at that moment. The manager instructed me to go through Uber and a tireless process to fix their kitchen issue. I do understand circumstances were protocol is required. However as the manager of a food establishment customer service should be top priority. Im giving two stars because I was not given a comp, compassion or great customer service after receiving a sandwich with hair in it.

Always have been a big fan of this place for the food, quality and portions. They have a very nice takeout operation running. I like the gyro plate; you get a lot of food. The rice is more like Mexican rice but it’s delicious also.

I was craving a really goodLabne sandwich. And this place made it happen! I ordered though Uber eats and it was delicious.

Truly some of the best Middle Eastern food Ive ever had! Brought me back memories of my childhood and eating my moms cooking. The owner is really nice and gave us a sample of the lentil soup and it was yummy. We ordered Gyro fries, Gyro plate, and kabob plate. Everything was flavorful and good sized portions. Definitely coming back!!

This is my favorite middle eastern/Mediterranean place. I love the chicken shawarmas and the gyro fries are out of this world. Recommended it’s a cool little spot in Montrose area !

I work with doordash and have done plenty of deliveries from here over the past couple years. The longest Ive had to wait for any order has been about 5 minutes. I finally decided to try their food a d had a gyro for lunch today. Not only is it cheaper than the several other Mediterranean places in Montrose, it was just as good or even better! The portion was great and Im thoroughly satisfied. I will be returning to try other plates.

You wouldnt believe how good the food is here. Mediterranean? Phenomenal. Tex-Mex? Boy, you know it. Burgers? Some of my favorite. Theyve been doing this a long time, and neighborhood locals know that this place is an absolute gem. I love coming here for a hot meal, or just some ice and sundries.Also they were open during Harvey. They deserve a medal for their service to the neighborhood.

The pictures of the food they show do not look very good. I guess because it is not all dressed up. I did not want to order but it was free delivery on doordash. I was very surprised this is good food. I will order again. I got a combo with chicken and kabob. And falafal (spelling). I was happy with everything.

Phenomenal spot for a quick and easy Mediterranean meal. Hidden inside a convenience store is this little counter dishing out cheap and good eats. After seeing this pop up on numerous Best of lists I made my way in and in the process was turned in to a huge fan. Generous portions coupled with great flavors in a quick unassuming setting, a Houston gem!

Als Quick Stop has everything you need. Small convenience store with basic groceries and personal needs. Als Quick Stop also has a full grill that offers amazing Mediterranean food, with a little Tex-Mex thrown in. They were one of the few places open during Hurricane Harvey in our neighborhood.

I have been going here since i moved to Houston about 7 years ago and i have yet to find a place in town with better food. This hole-in-the-wall place makes up for one of Houstons top Gyro sandwichs and the people who work there are THE nicest people. food and people are an easy 11/10. I tried Als for the 1st time today. Ive been looking for a new gyro spot since Little Jimmies Deli closed. I FOUND IT! YUM. The gyro is fabulous, and the spicy cauliflower is perfect! Im going back.Also, Mohammed is very nice.

This place is honestly a Healt hazard I was there last week buying food and lady took my order she was the cook at Same time as she approached me I just noticed here hand that had disgusting look with long dirty nails that been dirty for weeks as I asked her she should have cut those nails she replied oh I wear gloves ..... and on top of that’s the the food it’s not hygienicly stored and some their items aren’t cooked the right way it’s just waist of money.

It wasnt bad, but it wasnt great. The food was well seasoned, but the chicken was dry. Its really not even my cup of tea being that Im not the biggest fan of Mediterranean Cuisine. The food was a decent price though, and well cooked.The fries, on the other hand, had so much spice and kick it was uncalled for. $6.99 and I couldnt even eat them, worst purchase of my life, short of outright fraud. There is literally no reason to put that much kick into a single French fry. I coughed enough that I almost choked, and I had the large order. I ended up having to drown it in ranch dressing at my house just to not waste the money. I recommend Not ordering those fries.

Excellent service and great Mediterranean food. Had the Gyro meat plate that came with pita bread, salad, tzatziki sauce and rice. Reasonable prices. Only fallback is youre eating in a convenient store, which is actually kind of cool.

I come in here all the time. Whenever Im in the area its the first thing that comes to mind because even after countless meals there, they never EVER disappoint. Not only are the staff very friendly and hospitable, but the food, especially the shawarma and gyro sandwiches, is phenomenal! If you’re thinking of ordering from here, do yourself a favor and go to Niko Niko’s. The hummus tastes old and the pita is paper thin and chewy. I’m honestly throwing it all out.

An unexpected location for some delicious gyros, but when someone told me it was better than Niko Niko’s I had to give it a try. It is definitely on the same level as Niko Niko’s but doesn’t have the lines and ridiculously high prices of its Greek rival. The gyro sandwich is the way to go. With a few seats inside and outside it definitely is the place to go for a quick bite.

Always excellent food and service. Get the gyro sandwich, it’s the best in town.

Simply GOOD Mediterranean food at a cheap price. Must try, if you are not looking for something fancy at all. Chicken shawarma lot of flavor. It tasted very authentic.

There are better options for Mediterranean food nears sharpstown. For the price here, you would definitely get more elsewhere and better quality. The pita bread was served cold and the meat portion was very little. I tried the hummus but it was not worth the price of $5 for the taste. shawarma king is better. For one plate and hummus the bill was almost $20.

We got delivery from this place and it was delicious! We ordered falafel plates, chicken sandwich, and extra hummus. However, the delivery was at least 20+ minutes later than they said.

Food is always good the chef that cooks the food she is always fast and youll get same portions and flavors all the time, same goes for the owner he is very amiable person, is nice to have a Mediterranean food in the area, I been coming here for years.

I had to come back to edit my review because of the experience I had last weekend. My girlfriend and I are frequent patrons of this corner store. After getting our food on friday, the owner decided he would see how far he could get with using sexual innuendos in our conversation. Sliding in comments like let me stick it in. Thats what she said right? (gesturing to my girlfriend) following up with let me help. I am a nice guy. He also commented about me calling in to order saying that he recognized my sexy voice. I come to this place to EAT FOOD not to be sexually harassed by someone that finds their fetish in my appearance or relationship. I wouldnt recommend Als to any female

This place really rocks. Personally I prefer it over the busier / flashier (and MUCH more expensive) places like Niko Niko.You would never guess, just driving by, that they make some of the best food in Montrose inside. The prices are very fair for what you get--and its made to order while you wait.One of the best things about this place is that it remains a hole in the wall... a secret that never really seems to get out. Youll probably never see a 2nd or 3rd location... theyll probably never change the decor or put better signage out front... or advertise... all of which would certainly make them a lot of money. Because I think, from my few interractions with him over the years, the owner is perfectly happy making delicious, affordable food for the neighborhood--while earning an honest, decent living doing it.The menu has continued to broaden over the years--and Im sure its all delicious. But when I get hankerin for Al Quick Stop, its always giro plate and / or falafels for me. (The last time I was in they had a special--giro fries--which was really tempting: A basket of fries covered with giro meat and other tasty looking morsels (feta and tomatoes perhaps?). Ill probably give that a shot next time.

We usually order from here through grubhub, and its always been great. I would agree that it is better than Nico Nicos. Frankly, theyve been going downhill in quality since they started expanding, imo. Als tastes more like fresh market food - hot, a little greasy, but delicious! The only thing I havent loved have been their dolmades. Something is just missing. But Im not going to hold that against them. Love love love this place!
