The owner never shows up to make sure the store is staffed and the stylist has to keep stopping doing my hair to help walk in customers who need assistance. This is every time I come here! They literally will not show up for hours after the store open if even at all. If you open at 10 you should be there prior to prepare. If it was one time that may be ok but it is every single time. What if I had a chemical in my hair? You cant just be an owner and not care. I love my stylist so I come back

Absolutely one of the best beauty supply and salons Ive ever been too. Their customer service is unsurpassed! From the moment I walked in to the moment I left they took care of me. I was greeted with appreciation and care. While looking around the hair stylist came over and really helped me. She explain the products I needed based on what I was looking to get out of my products. Everyone is very knowledgeable about what they are selling. They have a reward points system which is really nice. This is my new beauty supply store for life. Amazing job people keep it up!

I got Senegalese twists today and y’all! My hair looks so good, my twists are NOT tight or painful. The stylist Jada was very gentle and patient with me. When I wanted to change something she would do it without an attitude, she is a very sweet stylist. The hair from the store that she recommended is great, it’s so light and not bulky or heavy. I think the service was very affordable and worth the money.

It is very nice. Great product selection and discount bins of hair that warm my heart. I have been shopping there since it opened. I like that it is not jammed pack with inventory like other places and the associate are very knowledgeable and are sometimes stylists.

Had a great experience at Obsidian. The beauty supply has a nice selection and the owner/staff were very friendly and helpful. Had my daughters hair braided by one of the stylists, and she loves it! We will definitely be repeat customers.

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. The owner does not know the meaning of customer service. I made an appointment for a sew in and to have my bundles dyed a deep burgundy color. The stylist was unable to get the color I wanted, so I ended up with a color no where near what I’d requested.Not only was I still charged for the botched dye job, but instead of taking ownership for their inability to get the color I wanted, the owner proceeded to insinuate that the bundles I bought were cheap and credited that as the reason the dye did not take.Adding insult to injury, ONE week after the weave was installed, 2 of the tracks began to fall out. As if that weren’t enough to keep me away, I scheduled an appointment to have my eyelashes done and that was a total flop.The owner said she sent me a text message letting me know that my appointment had to be rescheduled because the person who was suppose to render that service had a family emergency. Needless to say, no message was received on my end.In each of these instances the common denominator is the owners lack of business etiquette. Not one of these situations was handled in a professional manner. The owner constantly placed blame on ME the customer, instead of taking responsibility for the lack of communication and low quality of service.

Store is black owned/operated... professional and tidy. Mrs Shay is very knowledgeable when answering questions about natural and unnatural hair and the atmosphere is inviting. for some stupid reason, since I live across the street.... I sometimes walk inside just to talk. lol

The excellent customer service will make you want to spend money. I went in to buy one thing but purchased three hair products for my daughters. Ill definitely be back.

Ive been to this beauty supply a few times. each time the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They offer a rewards system and you can also get coupons in the mail which is what initially brought me in. The space and stock is small, but I always go to them first for my products because I think its important to practice group economics. Prices are a little higher than other beauty supplies in the area, but once again, group economics could help fix that

The woman who helped me bent over backwards to accommodate me in my need for a particular hair product by a certain time. I am really impressed by this type of customer service, as this is very rare these days.

The owner is very unprofessional. I had a hair appointment but the gates to open the store were jammed. She was more worried about the beauty supply opening instead of checking with me about the inconvenience. A business owner should have more professionalism.

Close to home. Black owned. Good selection for a small store. Got a great deal. Buy one get one wigs $15 each. Young lady was very helpful. Didnt think they had what i wanted and she went and found it. She was very nice. And though people came in while helping me she was sure to answer all our questions. Only hair store Ill be using. And im from Kansas. Theres hair stores everywhere but not black own. Love it!

I wanted to find a black owned beauty supply in Houston since Id be working here for several months. I googled Obsidian and loved the story: A black woman owner, YaY. The employees were knowledgeable and helpful, yet never pushy. They carry the Hairfinity vitamins, also. Im heading back tomorrow to patronize this business again.

As a first time customer experience was not satisfying. I purchased the wrong type of braiding hair and didnt know until I got to my hair appt which was less than 10 mins away. I called back immediately advising that I purchased the wrong type of hair. She (the owner) advised that her policy was non-refundable/non-exchangeable and had 30 mins to return back to the store. I got there less than 10 mins with unopened merchandised and she (the owner) did not willing want to exchange the unopened merchandise. The hair I needed was in fact more than what I purchased so I would have been giving the store more money. She eventually exchanged the product and made me purchased 2 more bags of hair I didnt need. Very disappointed in the service because I was trying to support a new establishment. I wish I could have took my money else where. I will never give this store another dollar.
