Houston Numismatic Exchange is a great place if you are looking for rare coins, Rolex’s and some fine jewelry. I found some beautiful second hand watches that I wasn’t expecting to find and at a reasonable price. They carried a good selection of Cartiers, Rolex’s and Panerai’s. The watches were in great condition and I was able to pick one up. I also found a Lady Fortuna gold bar which I asked Jay to make it into a gorgeous pendant. Will go back to them for future watch and coin purchase.Top notch owner and sales people who were professional and knowledgeable. Jay was great to work with on my purchases.

For over 30 years I have been coming to this place. When I was a kid I was particularly interested in the sports cards department of the store. Jay took me under his wing and helped me learn about cards and was always super kind to me. His is extremely knowledgeable about the hobby. One of the things you can count on with every aspect of the store is they are concerned with building long term relationships, not making one time transactions. Everyone in every department from numismatics to precious metals and jewelry to sports cards is very knowledgeable and helpful. You can always count on them to treat you right!

Ive been to them twice. My experience both times were good and then very good for the 2nd visit. They took time to explain things to educate me as a buyer. The only issue I had was parking in West University, so go early. I would prefer to give them a 4.5 due to the parking but site doesnt allow it. And I would shop there again.

I know that its important for small businesses to make money, but my first experience there was a big turn off. I have just started going through an old collection left to me by my dad, however Im not new to coin collecting. I was at a nearby restaurant, and saw this place when walking around. When I went in, I was greeted promptly. I mentioned that I was just starting to go through my dads collection, and he jumped in and said I had to buy a book he had. I really didnt get to tell him anything else. I knew all about the things he was showing me in the book, and frankly most of that info is online. When I said I wasnt interested in the book he turned away and blew me off.Perhaps he was busy, I dont know, but the strong arm sales approach was not appreciated.

Coin and collectable store that has kept good inventory and selection.Good place to buy and sell precious metals in Houston.No sales tax above $1000, does not check ID under $5000 or special tax forms under $10000.But they DO charge different premiums for different people.So If you look like they can pull one over you, call ahead or send somebody who is known to the store instead of going in alone.I repeat they DO charge different premiums for different people but will tell you its the the same for all and has always been that premium rate strait to your face.

WOW, talk about poor service. Walked in to this place and received a Yes Sir from one of the employees (the bald guy) behind the counter. After asking my question he was having none of it. His time was too important to focus on the customer. I felt like I was on a clock and ended up just cutting it short and walking out. Somone needs to go to a Dale Carnegie course...

I worked with Jim on the evaluation of my Fathers coin collection evaluation. HNE was the third estimate I got and they were the highest on about half of the collection. Jim told me they already had a lot of inventory of that kind of coin, which makes sense.I would recommend HNE to anyone looking for a fair, honest evaluation.

First time Ive even been today. The guy said my coin wasnt collectable. Certified in a PCGS holder, and they are selling for way over spot on Ebay. Ive had good offers on Ebay, just thought I would check these guys to avoid the online fees. they wanted to pay spot value. Its fine if you want to beat people down, but dont say things arent collectors items if they are. Very uninformed. The cop at the entry was pleasant, the other guy, maybe the bald guy was rude and seemed bothered by me, even before I showed him my coins. The gold coins were recovered under rubble at WTC after the Sept 11, 2001 terror attacks.

DO NOT attempt to do business with these thieves! That is unless you are absolutely trying to give money away. I just left from this establishment trying to sell two 1 ounce gold coins: 2012 American Buffalo (First Strike) MS70 PCGS value: $2350 and a 2013 Gold Eagle (First Strike) MS70 PCGS value: $2000. They offered me LESS than spot for regular bullion. When I declined the offer they asked me what I was hoping for. When I replied that I was looking for something close to the coins numismatic value, they sarcastically smiled and nodded their heads as if I was some sort of uneducated moron. If youre just looking to sell your valuable coins and dont mind getting robbed in the process, youll probably be better off selling them at your local pawn shop. Im only giving this place one star because zero stars is not an option. By the way, the positive reviews on this message board were written by friends and family members of the owners of this establishment.
