This place is great. Super small Japanese market, with people who can actually help you pick products because they buy them too. Fish for sushi. Hard to find Japanese vegetables. And if you go early enough there are prepared japanese style foods to try.

This is an excellent market—it balances size with variety and provides a great experience without having to walk too far. There are lots of Japanese snacks and ramen offerings, extremely fresh sushi ingredients, and ready to eat items like onigiri and ebi fry, too. I was even able to find my favorite brand of shokupan in the freezer case. I would highly recommend giving this place a try; the staff went above and beyond to ensure my experience was positive.

Very nice and they had almost everything we were looking for except the Japanese sesame seed candy that I love. But I found some yummies to replace it! Staff nice and gave us some free disposable chop sticks with our purchase.

Its a cute and quaint store very similar to gas station and local corner stores in Japan. Not a lot of selection but again suppose to be like a corner store. Prices, quality and contents are all on par.

A wonderful, small and intimate Japanese grocery store. This is not a huge mega-variety of Asian products, but primarily focused on the diverse Japanese grocery offerings.You can pick up sushi-grade fish to make your own, or snap up theirs. The seafood is beaurtiful and fresh.While the selection of Japanese groceries is extensive, the real winner here is the staff. They are nice, friendly and very helpful. They have a wall of DVDs and we have been looking for a few movies in particular. They did not have them in stock and we asked if they could special order it but only if it had English subtitles. The woman was so fabulous. She called several places trying to find the movie but as of yet, nobody has the English subtitles. That is outstanding customer service.This will be a regular stop on our route as we do our shopping for Japanese ingredients.

I love this place. It’s got everything I want in my refrigerator and cabinet: Ramen, Udon, Buns/Baozi, UCC Coffee, Rice Balls, pre-packaged Shrimp Tempura, Pork Cutlet, etc. This place is awesome! And the folks working here are doing an awesome work.

Great selection of prepared foods, especially the chirashi bowl, katsudon, and bento boxes. Get there early on weekends to buy before they run out. Much better fish quality than Seiwa Market!!! And Daido is actually supported by local Japanese community. My go to spot for any Japanese groceries in Houston!

This is one of the best stores in houston, its had a awesome history and run. Years of service and making food from scratch, they have sales on onigiri and fresh made food while still serving unique products you can really get anywhere else. The staff is always nice and sometimes you go in theres anime music playing. Nothing gets me more pumped to get groceries.

Customer service is amazing. Its the etiquette that I would only expect from native Japan. There are few business that make me feel like I should give them more of my money as a valued customer, and Nippan Daido is one of them.

They reopen their door. Business hour might be slightly change, seems to be 10-7pm. Most of my frequent things I love still there. So happy theyre back.

It was pretty good, i would give it three stars because the stuff there is pretty cheap but I didnt really know what alot of it meant or was. But if you like Japanese food and candy thats a perfect place to go!

Omg got my Georgia Original coffee here. Small but full. And the ladies behind the register helped me with some directions for Pokari Sweat.

They carry some of our favorite Japanese products/items. The produce inventory is somewhat limited, so maybe call ahead if there’s something you’re particularly looking for. The sashimi is a great value compared to what you’d spend at a restaurant. We were especially happy to find fresh, not-frozen natto. There’s also a wide variety of imported frozen ones to choose from as well, if that’s preferred.

Small store, but it has a large selection of japanese grocery and reasonable prices. Fresh rice balls, bento boxes, canned good, drinks, ice cream, sweet bread, alcohol, octopus, fish fillets ect. I also want to mention that the cleanliness of the restroom is stellar. Far above that of the average public restroom.

I come here often when in Houston.The selection of sashimi and other products is very good.You can order sashimi trays and they are as good as the best sushi restaurants.I love the freshness and cleanness.During the pandemic it is very assuring.They have sushi, tempura and other specialties.You can order a tray to make your own hand rolls

Some stuff can be very pricey for stuff I can get at hong kong market or 99 ranch market for much cheaper price but over all I love how everything is from Japan. So whatever my family from outside Houston need something I can buy from here and send it out.

I have found nearly every Japanese origional item I crave. I recommend you try Kupi mayonaise and Bin Shoda Yuki(organic) Shoyu(soy sauce) to the westerner) You will feel cheated from the mass market appeal items you thought were real. Hopefully they carry fresh wasabi root. I will look for that next time. Real treasures and very clean store.Everything is affordably priced so no worries with the shopping experience.

This cute little place is new and improved. Its in much better condition than it was even a year ago, they have a few unique offerings other than ramen and sake.

They have a good variety of Japanese ingredients to play with if you like cooking and a bunch of snacks if thats what youre after.

Love this place and the people who work there. The karaage and onigiri that they make is fantastic, store stock changes often but they always have the essentials.

Quaint Japanese grocery store with unique items.Daido is Houstons original Japanese market and were glad they were able to restructure and survive after briefly closing. Here youll find a good mix of snacks, sauces, spices, ready-to-eat meals, fresh fish for sushi/sashimi, and more. The staff is friendly and though theyre smaller than they used to be, they (along with Seiwa Market) are one of the few places to get true Japanese groceries and snacks. Were big fans of their blocks of fish (tip: If youd like a larger chunk, ask the man in the window for a larger block of fish - same price/lb.) for home made chirashi bowls or sashimi.

A unique, local small business that is well worth the visit. Their stock comes from a different distributor than any other place in town, which shows their unique and interesting selection of Japanese imports.In addition, customer service is outstanding. The folks working there are always happy to assist, even translate labels and make recommendations! Best Japanese store in Houston.

Looking for things you can’t find outside of Japan, this is the place to go. I miss Okinawa, but going here brought back some memories. Got some good stuff that I needed for my kitchen as well.

I love this place, some things can be a little expensive but it is imported goods so I feel theyre quite fair. Their products and staff are all amazing.

Great place to find speciality items for Japanese cooking

A Houston Japanese icon. Daido has been my go to place for authentic Japanese groceries for decades. Today they had hot sweet potatoes, a traditional winter treat. Really things you just cant get anywhere else.

Oldest Japanese supermarket in Houston still has Japanese speaking staff on hand.

With Japan being one of my favorite countries to visit, it was pretty cool to find a Japanese grocery store in town. Its a small store but they have a big selection of grocery items as well as snacks and even some prepared food. They also have fresh sushi grade fish that you can bring home and prepare for yourself. While youre there you might as well pick up a rice ball to snack on or even their delicious cream puff cookies! They also have a punch card for your purchases which will eventually gain you a gift certificate once the punch card is filled. The staff is also very friendly and can assist if you have any questions. Cant wait to go back!

One of the only Japanese supermarkets in Houston; just love this place. They have a huge variety of products including some that can be very hard to get elsewhere. I love their green tea noodles and buckwheat noodles which are great with salad :) They have a loyalty card so you can get rewarded for purchases.

My husband is Japanese and he and my mother-in-law love the variety of Japanese goods here. I love all the yummy candy and snacks. Their inari is a great vegan option, but they do have lots of fresh sea food too!

Excellent source of Japanese ingredients! Fresh veggies and fish along with packaged vinegar, mirin, soy sauce, kombu, chili oil, and much more! My wife and I love to cook Asian food and this is the best location weve found for some of the harder to get stuff. The labels on the shelves could be a little clearer, but the prices are excellent.

It Is 2020 and they are open! One of their young managers, bought the store, and is doing a 10 * job, really! They have wonderfully priced Bento boxes, a very good selection of Japanese items, all the basics, and pricing on the other things is pretty good as well. Lets keep them open, as a competidor two larger stores, and support them!
