Fantastic collection of mostly tradition lamps, shades, mirrors & accessories. They do have a few nice contemporary selections. (I was searching contemporary on this visit & found a few unique items that worked perfectly!)Terrific staff, most helpful! If you need a lamp shade, bring you lamps this is a fantastic group of quality shades, rarely found today in Houston. I have had Shade Tree repair some special lamps too. They also have a custom framing shop.
My husband and I Iooked at MANY furniture stores, lighting stores and online for a floor lamp with bright task lighting, to no avail. Then we found The Shade Tree. They had multiple lamps that met our requirements and the staff was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We were able to find just what we wanted. We highly recommend this business.
Flood of spam since sending them a question. Dozen emails, still no answer to the question. I believe thats where unresponsive comes from, lol. Regrettably can not recommend
This is a star review, I had to choose at least 1 to post my review!CAUTION!!!! The worst customer service in ALL of Houston as well as the State of Texas!! I only hope that the experience that I had was not at the hands of the business owner. She appeared to be an hourly employee who was interested in the hours of business coming to an end as soon as possible. She dripped with poor customer service from her appearance, tone, facial expressions to her interactions with other workers in the store. She represents the stereotypical disgruntled retail worker who not only hates her job but herself as well. I caution all customers to recognize that the prices are overpriced but the quality is Very LOW. They hide their return policies and try to strong arm you into exchanging instead of returning items for refund if it does not work for you. After all, this is a lamp shade store not an intimate apparel store. I recommend shopping online for specialty items. At all cost, avoid doing business with The Shade Tree!!
This is a wonderful place for Lamps, Shades, Repairs and accessories. The best location is this, the Fountainview location, its the original. The owners are 2 sisters, one is Cinthia Smith, we did not meet the other sister. The lady that was so helpful for us was Xandra Cummings. There was also other employees Male & Female who were very helpful. Xandra knows the business (and the owners do). We bought 2 lovely Dale Tiffany lamps, they were special ordered for us and we were able to open these in the shop with Xandra & Cinthia present to make sure nothing was broken or damaged. We are very pleased with our purchase, the attention given to us by the owner and employees of the Fountainview location. They corrected the problem with had with the person working at the Memorial location. They made sure we were happy. We also purchased some Lamp Shade Brushes to clean our lamp shades with. Everyone took care to help us and make up for the bad service at the Memorial location. They certainly did help us and went out of their way to help us.Also several years ago we bought a lovely silk lampshade for one of our Art Deco lamps that was in their large inventory. We recommend their quality shades, they are not cheap but they are worth the price for the quality. You want a job done right with Lamps this is the place.I do not recommend the Memorial location, the lady who works there does not listen to the customer and was rude, certainly not the type of person we can deal with.I would also like to recommend the Framing Shop next door to the Fountainview location (named My Workshop Picture Framing) which is also owned by the Smith Sisters. Several years ago we had a very large Map of Texas Framed by this company and its lovely and we have enjoyed it ever since, very professionally done.Clyde Johnstone & Mark Sykes
I went in to get a couple of cords on two lamps replaced and they person working there did the repair while I waited. Couldnt have been nicer! Great place to find lamp shades and accessories that you wont see anywhere else too!
Lots of different lamps and sjades
Amazing selection and service! It has a small town atmosphere and theyre amazing at lamp repair and dont overcharge..
They are amazing! They can fix almost anything at a fair price and incredibly fast!!! I highly recommend this place
I first went to this store a few months ago to get a lamp repaired. The manager fixed it on the spot! While she was doing the repairs I walked through the store and was so amazed at the inventory. Such a large selection of lamps and shades. When quarantine is over, Im going back to get new lamp shades for all of my lamps.
Will never go back. Absurd prices. I had 10 chandelier light covers that were 2 different sizes. The lady who works there have them back in 2 different colors. I had explained they were for the same fixture and had to match. When I went in to pick them up, they charged me again for their mistake. I also brought in a tea towel to be framed to go above my kitchen sink. The frame portion of the store wanted $385 for that. You have to have stupid on your forehead to go here. Seriously it’s a big city keep looking.
Ive been into this store several times for help. The first time I had an antique shade the moving company destroyed; the second was to get an antique lamp rewired. The people are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Good quality products and services at reasonable prices. Large selection. Have returned multiple times and also puchased very unique lampshades. Highly recommend.
We had two lamps that needed new shades, and The Shade Tree had a great inventory of the sizes we needed in quality lined lampshades, an amazing selection! We received excellent help in selecting two that fit perfectly, and the lovely lady who helped us was able to give us new details about the workmanship of our lamp bases. She spent much time with us, and made sure that we were happy with our purchase. We will definitely recommend The Shade Tree to our friends, and it will also be our first choice for lamps in the future.
Extremely disappointed with the Shade Tree.We needed a shade and the sales person was very helpful and friendly. The lamp needed some repair work so we left it with them to be fixed. When we picked up the lamp and put on the lamp shade, the lamp was crooked, leaning. This time they were rude and disrespectful. They kept saying that was the way the lamp came in. Finally after a stressful discussion, they fixed the lamp. Too bad. Thought I found a place to buy lamps and shades. I guess I was wrong
Moses did a great job making a lamp out of an old brass candlestick I had. It looks awesome!
Purchased 2 lovely lamp shade, expensive but just what my lamps needed. Also purchased a beautiful tapestry pillow for the sofa and it is perfect.
I walked into the Fountain View store behind some other customers. I started picking up lampshades and comparing them to my lampshade. A very rude woman with the most disgusted tone said they preferred to touch the shades (covered in plastic) themselves. I had a similarly bad experience 2 years ago and decided to give them a second chance. Never again!
The BEST place in Houston to buy lamps and shades.
They rewired an antique sconce for us. They did a nice job, but we had to go back to get more information on installation.
