They only give new patients the run around! Ive heard two different excuses to why they cant schedule me a appointment.
The eye doctor is fantastic! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! I never write reviews, but I feel it’s so important to share when you have an experience as amazing as mine today. I’ve been on this planet for almost 40 years now and nobody has ever been able to make me see clearly...glasses and contacts both made me feel “weird” so I just went without. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried glasses/contacts to either refund them or abandon them. This eye doctor had a solution for me that nobody has ever thought of before that has made me see normally/clearly for the first time in my life! I am shocked and grateful for him giving me the gift of sight...as dramatic as that sounds, it is true. I don’t have the worst vision in the world or anything, but when I took my contacts out tonight I realized how blurry my eyes are without them. And the 2 ladies at the front desk were amazing! So friendly and so sweet to my kids. I will never go anywhere else!
I booked an appointment through my insurances website 3 weeks ago to see the optometrist. The day before my appointment, I was called with an appointment reminder, and then they asked what insurance I was using. I provided the information. Later that day, I received a call saying that they didnt accept that insurance, so I explained that I found it through my insurance website, etc. I call my insurance provider, they explain that the optical group has to request removal if they are not accepting that insurance. My insurance provider calls Meijer on my behalf, explains the situation, and later in the day I receive a call from Meijer telling me that things are sorted and that I can come to my appointment. Fast forward to this morning, my insurance company calls me to close the loop, and explained that there was miscommunication and everything is good to go. 30 minutes later, a Meijer representative calls to say they received additional paperwork 60 minutes before and they wont accept my insurance. Sister sites do accept my insurance, but they dont; she apologized (she did not recommend any of these sister sites to me as a viable solution). I told her that her apology didnt do much good if they dont fix the problem of being listed as accepting the insurance and she said they would try to remedy the problem.I understand insurance is a pain for everyone. Im sure there is blame to be put on the insurance provider as well. What I find truly unprofessional, is to call me the day before my appointment and tell me everything is good to go and that I should plan to arrive, and then call me 2 hours before my appointment to tell me not to show up because they are out of network. Apologies dont mean much if you are just going to string people along and not fix the issue.
Everyone was friendly, quick and efficient.
