Nearly 20 years and a staple of Hudson life. The food, pastries, coffee, gourmet foods are number one. No one is as deserving as Dena for great success in a highly competitive town. My partner Timothy and i have been shopping there since we met 20 years ago. I highly recommend!
We picked up a bag full of delicious specialty foods to enjoy on our vacation. From artisanal popcorn to smoked lemon syrup, this shop carries a wide variety of high end foods. We were extremely grateful to use their restroom- a hard to come by commodity in Hudson.
Amazing market, delicious sandwiches, but hands down, Celeste makes the best whole-milk latte in the Hudson Valley!
Great food selection but incredibly rude staff. I live on the block and love the ability quickly pick things up here occasionally, but the staff just deters you from where wanting to give them any business.
I get the need for covid safety protocols, but tried to walk in to get a coffee. Door was locked, staff said I needed to order and pay online... Too many better cafes in walking distance for this... Please avoid!
This is an AMAZING store. I want to buy the whole place!
Owner couldn’t have been ruder. Visiting from PA and loved the town, but had a horrible experience with Olde Hudson. Another family from Poughkeepsie we became friendly with later in the day said they had a similar experience, where the white female store owner talked down to them multiple times because they were Latina. Shame to see this in an otherwise seemingly progressive town
Lovely market with superior imports and regional goods.
Deena is amazing, over the past three years I’ve gotten to frequent her store. She does an amazing job sourcing really nice high end meats, cheeses and other products......the pies are out of this world good....the customer service is outstanding.
I use to go there to see a friend and support the small business. The sandwiches were decent. There’s not a lot of flavor. The cheese is sometimes soggy and the sandwich is all bread (very hard roll). She often told me that some of her coworkers were very mean and stuck up and the boss was terrible. She didn’t treat her well and made her cry numerous times. I’ve witnessed it myself and it’s a shame that a boss treats their employees like that. If you’re looking to work there be wary of whom you’re going to deal with and the snobby rich people who come through the business. Ps. The muffins will make you sick probably. They’re doughy and not cooked all the way
Delicious lunch options! Amazing staff! Such a beautifully organized market with delicious goodies too. If you have time, swing in for a soup, sandwich and a delicious freshly baked dessert! And if you’re a cheese lover, wait until you see their selection ;)
Excellent quality, it was an absolute treat to peruse the shop.
Limited menu and pretty flavorless food. Maybe skip this spot? The grocery next door had a great selection though.
High end establishment with an expansive selection. When I suggested to the register clerk, politely, that customers would like to be able to see the prices as they were being scanned, she stared at me as if Id slapped her. (The single bottle of tonic water was $10.) Wont go back.
Great selection of cheeses! Cute little coffee shop that serves wine and desserts on one side too.
Sandwich board outside advertising a special, door open, followed 4 other people in. Went to grocery side to shop for Hudson Valley souvenirs only to be rudely told they were not open (7 mins early) and asked if I belonged to the other group who I assume were also chased out. There was no reason for the young woman to react in such a manner however now reading other reviews, maybe she did me a favor.
Fantastic food and service. Busy shop that still manages to supply quality. Has a well organized market attached with some indoor and outdoor seating.
Charming place with good bakery goodies, especially cake. However the barista was grumpy, quite overwhelmed... Overall, nice place to shop gourmet products and to grab lunch or merienda.
Not great. It will be interesting to see how it does now that theres another (real) grocery in town. It seems like they were always able to get away with obscenely high prices because there werent any other options right in town.
Not going to lie this place has some great specialty groceries and I had a dreamy delicious salmon salad sandwich on some challah. We spent $100 on groceries to prepare one meal. I am happy to pay up for quality items like meat, cheese, fancy sauces; which is what I did. What I simply could not stomach was spending over $8 on a bag of tortilla chips...so I didnt. I went to the Hannafords for my tortilla chips and was offended and annoyed to find the EXACT same brand (Mi Nina ) for $3.99....i can appreciate a bit of an incremental price given it is a small shop but a 100% premium is just rude.
A perfect view of the main strip in Hudson, NY
Amazing place. Dena and Aaron are the best. Coffee is great. All provisions are top quality...Expensive, but worth every penny.
Absolutely absurd...no prices on any items. i was prepared to purchase many items, but i find it terribly tacky not to have current prices or price lists...will never waste my hard earned money here. owners should be ashamed
Wonderful small grocer stocked with delicious gourmet food. The vegetable rack usually is foodporn, but the steaks in the fridge will have you returning again and again. P.S. The bacon they have in the fridge might be the best I have ever tasted...
We browsed through the store on a recent visit to Hudson. The owner was lovely and greeted us warmly. Very impressive inventory of cheeses, sauces, jams, locally made foods and imported delicacies. The only drawback was a very unfriendly guy behind the charcuterie counter. Other than that, it was top-notch.
Is this a grocery store or a food museum? Is this a coffee shop or a place where jams, honeys and sauces are set out on shelves as a sculptural, aesthetic statement. Olde Hudson makes me feel like a sustainability bodhisattva. I want to buy my next meal at a ghetto gouge bodega with expired dairy in the coolers bedside this emporium is a culinary nirvana. Should I enter culinary nirvana while many struggle to eat enough calories and vitamins in food desserts. If you a fortunate enough to purchase food at this fine establishment, do so without guilt. However, take a step to help the masses know this kind of cornucopia.
Gourmet grocery with a great selection of products. I work up an appetite just walking into this place. Highly recommend.
The grocery part of the store has a large variety and very good options. I was pleased to see laqurcia prosciutto and berle farm yogurt just to name a couple. The deli left a bit to be desired. They have pre-packaged the salads in plastic containers and are not recycling or composting. I would expect a store like this to try to use as few one use items as humanly possible.
Sad but true, this fancy little ? Grocery store is over priced, most of their efforts go into the decor and their recipes are neglected. Muffins are NOT tender and delectable but dense and doughy. Sandwiches are mostly roll. Very little meat, minimal tomato and lettuce. Salad was 2 bites worth of lettuce very uninspiring considering all the local veggies available this time of year. Theyre going to have to work a lot harder to get people to return. The food across the street is way better.
Lol their sandwiches taste like air -- mine had no flavor at all. nice little market, though, and super nice employees!
Wanted a bite to eat so I stopped by the old hudson cafe. They have a very small menu, but I spotted a ham and goat cheese sandwich and then there was a grilled veggie sandwich. I asked if I could add goat cheese to the roasted veggie sandwich. The counter attendant said to me (and the other two people there), Sorry, we are not allowed to change the menu at all because then the price changes.I replied, of course Im willing to pay - I just want to eat what I want to eat. She saidsorry.I said, good luck smiled and walked out.Hudson has really turned into such an obnoxious hell hole of businesses. Used to be a nice place.#blameitonbrooklyn
Best REAL coffe we have had in 5weeks and 2300milesAaron was very knowledgeable and helpful on our visit
Fabulous meat, seafood and cheese. just the best. wonderful
Waited over 15 mins for my salad bowl to go. Although the salad (lettuce, 3 chunks of tomato and a few slices cucumber with olive oil dressing) itself was tasty, I would expect a lot more for $8. Pretty disappointing and waay overpriced.
Excellent selection of local cheeses and other gourmet food stuffs. Very knowledgeable and welcoming staff.
This place thinks its okay to sell a dozen eggs for $9.00. Thanks for putting such a high price on local/organic...wellness for rich people
It is the best food shop in the area
Great place.
Overpriced and no price tags.
The cafe is bad. I ordered a grilled cheese and it came with the bread lightly toasted and the cheese still cold and totally not melted. Just hunks of cheese on bread. Okay, I can deal with that, fine, I dont like to complain. But my friend ordered the filet mignon sandwich as a salad (the menu says you can get any sandwich as a salad) and it came as literally the same ingredients as the sandwich on top of lettuce. Which means it came with a huge heap of mayo (????) and there was no salad dressing. They gave her a small cup of oil. When she went back to the counter to ask if there was any salad dressing she was told theres no salad dressing and theres no way they could mix any balsamic vinegar with oil to make some. They offered to give her balsamic vinegar so she could mix it herself. Okay fine. Then it took a very long time for them to bring us the vinegar! But FINE, were dealing. When my poor friend finally starts to eat her salad, she discovered a huge spider in the lettuce so we had to throw it out.Its just not worth going to this cafe, the food is too basic for there to be so many issues.
In addition to Japanese ingredients such as mirin and soba, you can purchase ingredients from all over the world and unique ones. The price is handwritten on the bottom of the bottle.
