I have been to the store a few times before. It was a better experience then. I remember specifically looking for a particular naruto head band that they didnt have. I was treated a littlw better by the shorter woman that works there and the older woman that works behind the counter.Here is my recent exerience a few days ago Oct 30. I went in looking for the headband and a beanie. I walked in and noticed that the 2 white customers were greeted and were told if they needed anything to let them know. When I walked in. I received a look but no acknowledgement or help offer. I made my way over to the display case saw the headband and then turned to see if I could find a good beanie on the wall.During the time for my searching no one asked if I needed help finding a particular hat or anything. When I tried to make eye contact with the woman that greets people at the door (shirter woman) that was standing there she made eye conyact with me and immediately looked away so I didnt bother.After not finding a beanie and noticing that all other customers were being helped or greeted I just decided to leave without buying anything and probably will never go back. No the store was mot overly busy. 2 women being helped at the jewley section and the 2 other customer walking around browsing. Maybe 6 people in total.This is just my experience maybe its diffrent for others maybe it isnt a race thing I dont know but if I dont like the customer interaction then I usually dont want to spend my money there. If you like anime gear or merch I would say its the place for you they have alot more than spencers and hit topoc by far. They did have a really cool naruto backpack I wanted to buy but decided not to.

They have a decent selection of items so I’ve visited a few times. But the cons outweighs the positives. The store is stressful to shop in, constant stares and glares from every employee. Though I understand why now. Apparently there is a lot of shoplifting here…..In fact I witnessed it myself as I was browsing. But before that happened, the manager actually came to me, as I was looking at a display area. He rushed at me, after being so attentive at me for awhile in the store. I guess he thought I wanted to steal something. Told me “those weren’t for sale”. Right after that encounter, he rushed again, this time out the store and confronted someone else. That’s when I realized he actually stopped a shoplifter. He brought her back in the store and made her empty her bag and the stuff she stole.The whole thing was embarrassing to see, from both the manager and the shoplifter. It’s a shame small business like this store are having so many shoplifters. The paranoia of the employees, and encounters like these make the store so unpleasant to be in. Its ridiculous that they treat many customers as potential thieves..and treat them as such. No one wants to return to a store that makes you feel bad about being there. It also doesn’t help that the store looks like it belongs in an indoor flea market. Probably won’t return, much better Pop Culture stores & small businesses in the mall.

The environment at the store feels hostile, as if they dont want the customers there. There is always this constant staring from the employees. and manager..it happens every time I visit. Also, their selection has decreased drastically...way less funko pops, cheap looking tees, and some expensive toys/figures along the walls. Some of it is still decent stuff, but most of it is longer relevant and for that is just too overpriced.

Came in specifically for their natural stone plugs and was not disappointed, they were really fairly priced, beautiful stones and the lady who helped me was great. Huge selection of figures too, could probably spend awhile looking through them all, my mom sure did

Very cool business to go to, bought me some XXL shirts for me and the employees were helpful but I had the feeling as if I were being watched by Mr MediaMagic . Would go again, but without the stalking .

I love the various selections of rings and anime, I’ll recommend a few to stop by, the only warning I’m leaving is the Manager and the Employees will keep a 3ft distance staring you down at you.

Great store & variety of cool items! It’s a little cramped in there though & having the employees staring the entire time makes it even more uncomfortable. Overall I always find whatever I’m looking for.. def recommend 👍

So on June 12th 2020 my friends and I shopped here. My friend bought a shirt and since there was no fitting room she couldnt try it on, she had to triy it on later and when she did it tore. We called the store and a lady on the phone said that we could exchange it out despite it tearing when she tried it on. We came back to the store on July 3rd and there was one lady who said it was fine and that we could exchange it out, but the owner said that we couldnt since my friend was the one who tore it when trying it on. Not only that but the owner was really rude about it. We tried to explain what the sales lady said on the phone that day but she didnt care. She has zero respect for customers. I was being really nice and polite and she didnt have to be rude about it.

I’m a heavy set guy so finding things like shirts that fit tends to hard but every time I go there they have my size. If you’ve never been and enjoy things like anime and various nerdy/punk stuff this place is great.

The costumer service is poor, don’t let the employees know which pop figure you want because they will hide them from you if it’s one that they want. I drove an hour to buy the Avatar pop figure collection, just to have on of the employees (Rachel) hide one of the figures (Toph) so her coworker can buy it later. We clearly saw the figure in the store and we also heard them say “put Toph to the side”. Only gave them 2 stars because they do have a good collection of pop figures.

I went in looking for a nose ring... I admit this place has plenty of options for body jewelry. All kinds of designs,sizes and colors! The only negative thing I have to say is how they stare and follow each customer around! Its so obvious and weird. As I was being helped, I noticed it was done to each person! Its already a small and crowded place. Even if a person declined help because theyre looking around first... they were watched like a hawk! Its highly uncomfortable!

Ive been going here for maybe 10 years, I started visiting in high school for body jewelry and this is still my go to place! Very cheap prices compared to most places. They do stand around watching guests as stated in other reviews but its understandable considering the large amount of inventory and racks or shelves that could give people with bad intentions places to hide while they stole.

I bought a toad plush today such high quality i will be buying a alot more mario plushes!! Also more sonic plushes But its little too expensive but everything is great its like your a make a wish kid there i dont get why people say the owner says hes looking at u if like ur gonna steal thats 100% NOT TRUE hes a nice man he has sonic mario anime megaman plushes and keychains but man u have to respect the owners personality and respect ok 🤗

Manager likes to acuse people of stealing.Year or two ago a friend of mine bought some items and then the manager followed us out and got her cuffed and arrested because he thought she stole. Was proven in court that she didnt steal.Try not to look suspicious when shopping here.

One of the few Unique stores that sells fandom items in the Houston area. Great customer service, good selection of items. Allot of Funko Pop, Pins, Hats, Shirts, Buttons, Wallets, Socks. Pretty much many of the Things that a Hot Topic would sell, but in a much random sense, since Hot Topic wont sell certain things and they always try and keep in themed. I like this store and im going to start giving it more of my business, ive purchased maybe 4 or 5 times in all of the years ive been going to Deerbrook Mall.

Everytime I go in here the main owner (older white guy) is rude and always watches like a hawk to the point that it makes the shopping experience awful. Piercings are a good price but not worth it if Im going to be treated like Im going to steal everytime I enter the store. If you want a successful business you need to trust your customer base. A few years ago me and my friends were here and the owner followed us out of the store over items my friend had bought( I watched her buy the items) she threw the receipt away after she purchased because what high schooler keeps receipts? The owner FOLLOWED us out of the store up til the food court and then asked for proof that she bought the items and she of course didnt have the receipt. We tried to leave the mall but the owner continued to follow us and called security and my friend was put into cuffs and publicly embarrassed over something she did not steal and we were then kicked out of the mall for waiting for our friend to be released. Im only bringing this story up again because my friends and people I know ALWAYS complain about the owner watching them when they go in and the owner has not changed. I DO NOT reccomend this store until the owner gets his act together. No one should be uncomfortable shopping anywhere. By the way he was accusing her of stealing a bracelet and some rings that she had bought.

If your a big fan of Toys, Jewelry, Concert and Anime shirts, then this place is for you.To go into detail about what they have, will not do it justice, but what I will say, I was blown away, by what that have.Teenagers and children will love this place. Purses, Backpacks, Patches, Silk Flags of anime characters, as well as Batman/Superman/Deadpool, shirt/caps/socks/keychains & more.Be prepared to spend hours there because you will always find something truly cool.

Everytime I come in here I feel watched and uncomfortable. I feel bad for wanting to touch and look at merchandise in this store because I can feel the stares of employees and managers. One of the most suffocating stores in the entire mall. I get people steal, but give your customers a break.

My favorite store of all time. I spent every cent I ever saved or earned at this store when I was a kid. I live out of state now, but when we are back in town I always take my kids there to pick up band Ts, etc. So glad this store has survived!

Very disappointed, I have been coming here for 10 years for my gauges but will no longer step foot into the store again. They followed me and my family around and constantly asked if we needed anything specifically and watching us. I recently sized up and forgotten. As soon as we stepped out of the store I realized they were too small. Turned right back around to see if we could exchange for the next size up considering we just left and they Hadn’t even left the bag and were unopened . Owner said he couldn’t because he didn’t know if I had worn them or not even though you could tell they weren’t and it hadn’t even been 10 seconds since I left. I used to tell everyone to get their gauges from here but due to the rude people me nor anyone I know will ever buy anything from them again. Highly unprofessional and was told not to return because I was unsatisfied! Will be throwing these gauges in the trash since I haven’t worn them and won’t be able to considering they are too small! Will never recommend this place again!Response to owner: yes I don’t know the EXACT time I was out of the store. I’m not asking for a refund I was asking for an exchange. No service of measuring my ears was offered to me. You can clearly tell when guages have been worn. Your receipt which is your contract with your customers does say no returns but says nothing about an exchange especially if I hadn’t even left the mall. You can probably request footage in the mall and see where I stood outside of your store speaking to my husband about how I messed up and forgotten I sized up, if you “really” wanted to see if I tried them on or not. Yes my husband called you a pos because that’s how you were acting. Why would I want to buy MORE of your product if y’all were rude and I already bought $28 of something I’ll never wear? Makes absolutely no sense.

Staff needs to learn how to not make people uncomfortable. I would have bought over $200 worth of shirts if your employee didnt follow me around the store like a fly on a horses rear.

Used to love going into this store for its extensive take on anime and funkos. Tonight was the the night that has led me to never step foot back in the store. I understand being asked once if I am looking for anything and can they help me. Thats normal by all means. Tonight I was asked 3 times if I am looking for something in particular. That is now out of the normal. I finally took offense for the tone and it being a third time as if Im a thief. There are no signs posted that says you cant look at the items in the stores front glass area. So I looked at some funkos to see if there were any I wanted for my collections. Employee whos name I will disclose to the owner; then took her opportunity to ask for the third time if I am looking for something in particular and that I am not allowed to look in that area. Why put items up there then? I then proceeded to tell my wife lets go I are am not staying to deal with this or be treated like this. I felt it rude and disrespectful so I approached both employees in there and talked to them normal asking how they saw that was okay to treat a customer that way and it was rude. The employee then proceeded to tell me that I was the one being rude for saying Im leaving and I will not be treated that way. I told them I will be talking to the owner and they non chalantly said thats fine and to leave for Im distracting from working. This how businesses treat customers? Especially a supposed thief who has served for 11 years and made sacrifices everyday while still continuing to serve their country? I will be engaging the owner in a normal conversation about the type of atmosphere and employees that are there. Disrespect is intolerable.
