A very under rated place to shop for unique, rare and vintage items. They have a large selection of appliances, furniture, building supplies. They also carry live edge wood slabs. One thing to also note is that they also have a great return policy. So dont be shy about your purchase. Its a great place to shop and a hidden gem. Also one thing to note is that if you ask nicely, they can help you with loading heavy items to your vehicle.

We know the sorrow of dreaming of a project but knowing the expense is too high. Fret no more, friends! Community Forklit Nonprofit is the paradise for all of us who love to create from old; for all of us whose creativity is bound to a smaller budget. Doors, shelves, tools, lamps, lights, knobs, tables, sinks, table legs, rugs, and more in tdifferent conditions and styles for all of use to buy. The best part, at a fraction of its original price. Not only is this place filled with amazing items to be discovered, it is also filled with the friendliest of people who are willing to help you find the treasure you need. But dont forget to give back! Dont throw away that tool you no longer need, or the paint that isnt the color your thought, maybe an old shelf doesnt fill you with joy anymore. What an amazing community resource that i bet most people aren’t even aware is here. This is the goodwill of home renovation. They will pickup things you don’t need anymore (they recently came to my home in dc to pick up an old toilet and vanity for donation). They have such gorgeous stuff and lots of awesome antiques and all at great prices. Love the idea of shopping here since it’s environmentally friendly to recycle and reuse instead of buy new!

Community Forklift does not appear to understand the value of moving inventory from their warehouse to prospective buyers. I have made several reasonable offers on a chandelier. Even though my offers were reasonable, given the acquisition cost was zero and they did not have to ship the item, my offers were consistently rejected. Thus I wonder if they know what business they are in. Are they sellers or a nonprofit warehouse where hanging onto stuff is more important than moving it out of inventory by selling it.They need to hire a pricing expert.

Extremely unprofessional and confrontational encounter with donation drivers from Community Forklift - donated numerous construction items (which they sell for a profit) and offered to give an additional $50 tip for taking additional, various items with them (ie paint, drywall etc) - after providing the check the other driver becomes very aggressive, banging on my front door, refusing to leave, yelling and threatening to throw all of the items on my front lawn if I do not give him cash (which the donation form states cash OR CHECK and the driver gave me his first and last name for the check). In fact, the driver demanded that he FOLLOW ME TO A BANK, so I could pay him cash. (Are you serious??) Needless to say, the police were called and while there the drivers THREW THE ITEMS ALL OVER MY LAWN (see attached pictures) IN FRONT OF THE POLICE - including boards with nails sticking out, oil all over the street, usable tools, grout, drywall IN THE RAIN!! They even threw a wire on my LIVE power line connected to the house while it is raining and sleeting! Unbelievable situation - would never have believed it in 100 years! STAY AWAY!

Also good for funky finds and affordable materials. Prices for the nice stuff are higher than they used to be. Every weeks an adventure! Come in looking for a 35 & quarter inch by 80 front door.. walk out with 3 boxes of 1/4 teal & brown glass tile, bag of grout & 4 gallons of paint. Oh ya, and that odd sized metal security door w/frame! Yah! But what are the odds? Its work to rummage through. Aside toilets, wood columns, neon or srain glass, fixing the house can become a major art project.. the furniture is a hodgepodge of Mid-Century modern, 20s -80s chairs tables, a 30s handmade large walnut blanket hutch, or Xmas decorations from a old dept store... yikes! Found a side alter from a Catholic church. Its eclectic & fun, but be prepared for whatever the time of year it is... In the Summer, its hot, Winter.. cold, and dusty. It is what it is, dually noted, be gleeful and pleasant with the the hard working men in this warehouse, moving very heavy objects & as life you get what you give meaning, they might work with you, if possible. Enjoy your visit & good luck😉👍in finding that matching 50s french pink bidet.

Super great idea and they have some neat stuff but MAN are they overpriced. We went looking for a set of old doors to use in our new home; found a set we liked but each had a price tag of $275. I figured they mustve been mislabeled as individually priced vice for the set so finally hunted down a staff member to verify... Nope, $275/ea for some beaten, battered, moldy, dusty, discarded doors. Talk about sticker shock. Then as we were leaving, we walked past a stack of resin Adirondack chairs in terrible shape; I had just purchased two new ones from Lowes at the end of the season for $8/ea so I had to check the sticker on these to verify my opinion of/the exorbitance of this place... Sure enough, each barely-if-at-all usable piece of junk chair was priced at $8. Cmon. The maximum acceptable asking price for those was $1. You cant help but feeling like theyre trying to take advantage of you.If youre looking to be philanthropic, Id recommend you just donate to a charity with the full transparency required to divulge where, exactly, all your money goes. If youre really just searching for affordable architectural salvage (especially in the form of doors, radiators, tubs, or mantels), check out Vintage House Parts & Radiators down the road instead. They have a huge selection of certain types of salvage; most in better shape than Community Forklift, and certainly MUCH more reasonably priced!

If there is a lower price on an item, but the cashier wants to charge you the highest price, ask for a manager. I tried to buy a light, and was told that the two $65 blue price tags on it werent price tags, they were blue stickers indicating it was vintage. Odd response since everything in there is vintage, and I had seen the exact style price tag on dozens of other items.I left a negative review and management followed up with me, but by the time they determined that $65 was the actual price, the item has been sold. From other reviews, this was not the first time something like this happened. I wont be back.

I went to the store with a reference from a local contractor. The collection is huge, in variety of items. As the name implies, it is a thrift store, but there are some unopened new items too. Items are here and there in the yard which looks even not usable. Parking is across street, unfinished lot. Expect to get muddy if you are visiting the area in the rainy season. You can only drive to the yard to pick up your staff. Employees are very helpful should you have questions.

The Community Forklift is a great business. They essentially sell donated housewares, building materials, appliances, etc. all of which is donated to them. The warehouse itself is enormous, and they have everything, doors, windows, lumber, screws, paint, washers, dryers, toilets, and yes, even the kitchen sinks! The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable, and the prices cant be beat. For instance, $0.15 per foot of PVC pipe: you cant get those prices are your local hardware store! The turnover in inventory for some categories of stuff is massive. If youre looking for a shopvac, they sell out pretty quickly (I know). but if you go back a few days, then you are likely to find one that hasnt been sold yet. They are also super involved in the green community, and host parties the first Fridays of the month (hence the name, First Fridays). All around, this is a great local green business to support, and you can sometimes find some real treasures here that you wont find elsewhere.

I went there on a lark looking for a piece of granite for a small counter I was making in my bathroom. Id been there before for other things, but have never been really impressed by their selection of doors or windows. Second Chance in Baltimore has more of those. But this place excels in stone. They had probably three or four times the marble and granite of Second Chance, and were very reasonably priced. At other places I didnt see anything I liked, but here I was choosing between three favorites pieces. Even after machining(The expensive part that has to be done elsewhere) my vanity counter will be under 150 bucks! The person who helped me was very nice and charismatic. It seems like the employees enjoy their jobs, which makes them nice to deal with.

We attended the First Friday and it was a fun way to spend a few hours with a food truck and a fiddler on stage where there was a little outdoor seating. Community Forklift is dog friendly indoors and also in the salvage yard. They had face painting and stuff for kids. The concept of Community Forklift is to connect people who need something for their home with re-useable resources no longer needed from other homes. They reclaim materials from old homes (double hung windows, doors, lamps, base boards, plantation shutters, fireplaces, old furniture, entire kitchens’ cabinets and work surfaces, sinks, toilets, tubs, fridges, washers etc) and sell them at a reasonable price. It’s more expensive than a thrift store or a consignment store and they always know when they have something highly valuable - so no absolute steals here- but it’s still much cheaper than buying new and more eco friendly. You just have to be willing to put in the work to make these items really shine again. At First Friday, the lines for the specialty stall (the fabric section) were long so we didn’t go in there but I saw some shoppers come out with armfuls of nice-looking material. We bought a gorgeous ceiling light fixture for $50 and an aluminum muffin tin for $3. Both require considerable work to get them looking new but I prefer this over sending them to a landfill.

Ive been coming here for a couple years when Im in town. Very cool space, one of those salvage stores you could explore for hours. They clearly have an eye for good/cool stuff. Some of the prices are excellent, some are sky high, and some are average. I normally havent had to interact with the staff beyond paying for a purchase.Today I was purchasing an item that was marked with three different prices. The highest price was more than three times the lowest price. I brought it to the register, assuming I would most likely be charged the lowest marked price. They told me it must have been mismarked or someone switched price stickers, and insisted on charging me the highest of the three prices. Items from that department were on a 50% off sale, but this item was an exception. I asked if they would wave the exception under the circumstances and again they said no.I will probably return but will be very skeptical. This is not how you do business.

This is a salvage store combined with a antique shop. They have a huge warehouse with all kinds of salvaged material. I want to love this place so much, but they have a few problems. The first is that it is a pain to get to. The second is that their prices for some things are what you would expect from a high end consignment store. The last problem is that they have so much junk just thrown around with all the good things that it is hard to find useful materials. Stuff seems to be thrown into piles and possibly waiting for organization, so this may not be a constant problem, but I found it hard to search through so much obvious trash. (They had an empty can of Bug spray for $0.50). I think they need to focus on being a little more organized and selective with their inventory. That said, it is still an amazing place with some really interesting stuff available if you are willing to work for it.
