I came in to get a bike helmet for a duathlon I was preparing for and also to pickup bike handle plugs. I worked with Sean, who was very helpful and also answered other questions I had as I plan to upgrade my bike in the future. I forgot the bike handle plugs on the checkout counter (which I needed to be compliant with USA Triathlon rules), and Sean called me the next day to let me know. I appreciated the help and also the thoughtfulness of the follow up call!

I Purchased a bike for my son that was not in stock. I was told I would get an email and call to confirm that the bike wasn’t going to take months to get. I didn’t get the call or email. I called a week after purchase to find out what’s going on and they said it was there. In a box, and I can’t have it for seven to ten days because they have to put it together. It’s a 16 inch cruiser from Electra.. Thanks.

Excellent service and affordable. My (cheap) aluminum bike pedal crank had gotten stripped by the steel square crank shaft, and I had no idea what needed to be replaced or what tools to use. I took my bike over to BGI on my lunch break and they were able to identify and replace my bike pedal crank in 15 mins for less than $20.They were also super helpful in answering my questions on other bike fixes, as well as how to convert my bike to a gravel bike affordably, and recommendations on local trails to ride.This BGI location definitely seems in tune with the local bike commuters of the city, without being overwhelming to a new rider like myself.

Stopped in today to pick up some supplies. I mentioned that my tubeless tire wasn’t holding air. Fifteen minutes later - I walked out with my stuff and they re-seated my tires on the rim and put fresh sealant in. I’m super grateful! I really like the folks at BGI.

I purchased my bike from BGI around 5 years ago, and each and every time Ive brought it in for maintenance, the team has been incredibly quick and professional. I believe their prices are very reasonable, and service has been stellar thus far.

They have serviced multi bikes of mine and Ive purchased gear- I always left with a smile on my face. The prices are fair and they even fixed some of my problems for free. As someone that was new to cycling a couple of years ago, businesses like this have encouraged me to cycle more and to the point that Ive moved from just commuting by bicycle to doing multi day trips all by bike. BGI downtown is the only place for my bikes. I went to a bad bike shop instead of BGI downtown that was a big mistake. BGI downtown knows what they are doing & do it correctly unlike the bad shop my bike was at. Thank you BGI downtown never again will any of my bikes go to any other shop

Have gotten my bike serviced here several times. This time we had the mobile van come out and do mine and my husbands bike. Service was awesome -- van was on time, good communication, got confirmation before replacing anything, didnt try to upsell, and, most importantly, the work was solid.

I like that I can ride my bike downtown, get the work done on my bike while Im at work, and ride my bike home at the end of the day. I also bought my bike from craigslist and rode it for a year and a half before getting BGIs second from highest tier maintenance package and it is now riding better than it ever has! Bicycle Garage Indy Downtown at City Market makes appointments! I had my and my wifes bicycles tuned up and the Team did a terrific job! One of my gears didnt work and I had used up my brakes. My wife had 2 gears that no longer worked. The bikes now work better than when we bought them new 3 years ago! Great service with very good prices!We ride our bikes almost daily and other shops (4 called) all said to drop off the bikes and they would call in 3, 4, or 6 weeks whe the work was done! What?!BGI Downtown gave me an appointment. I dropped the bikes off the day before and picked them up when they called me the next day.Thanks BGI Downtown!

I would highly recommend this place for all bike needs. They have experience on old and new bikes and they are very nice people. They wont criticize you on your bike and they are extremely helpful. They have walk ins on Saturday and is very inexpensive to fix. Sometimes, they will do minor fixes for free! Amazing people 😁👍

Easy to setup appointment. Greated upon arrival by informative staff. Asked if I had any questions at every appropriate moment. I was sent updates on my repair and when it was completed. Service was complete on time as promised and at quoted price. Although downtown easy to find parking available.

The downtown bike hub is so great. The staff members really know their stuff and are happy to share their knowledge and advice. The turnaround time on repairs, upgrades, and tune-ups is SO fast! I love how convenient it is to visit and I am already looking forward to my next trip.

His clear explanations meant a bicycle novelist such as myself was able to understand what to look for with continued commuting use. Went there to buy a single bicycle spoke, as Ive been told they have a spoke cutter. Gave them the old one for sizing, but once I got home I realized the new spoke was a completely different length.I was shocked that I was charged almost 10$ for an 80 cent spoke and told it was due to maintenance of having a spoke cutter (BS for a machine that requires sharpening maybe once a decade, Ive worked in metal fabrication). I understand the up charge of a bike shop, but this is a bit ridiculous.I decided not to even return it as it wasnt worth dealing with the employees there again. Find a different shop for simple basic parts, they dont want your business. I think they even cut it too short to make me never come back again.

In town for a bike race and my husband ended up needing a new rotor. They didnt have any to sell but they took one off a bike to sell him. He was extremely happy with the great customer service and their willingness to help him out!

The BGI downtown team is on point, knowledge base is strong i like that they are able to fix everything i break. Many things are also able to be done on the spot provided theyre not too busy at the moment also the team is sweet and neat.

Stayed in Indy for a few days, rode a local trail the 1st night and had no rear brakes all of the sudden. Next day was brown county so I called these guys for help. They normally do service by appt. and we’re pretty busy when I called but they listened to my dilemma and said to bring the bike in and they would see what they could do. Not only did they look at my bike but repaired it quickly and correctly and at a very fair price. They said they really didn’t want to see me miss out on brown county, and I didn’t! These guys are the best!!!

I have been thoroughly pleased with my trips to BGI. They continue to surprise and impress me with how well dispersed their bicycle knowledge is among the company and also how excellent every employee Ive encountered had been with customer service.I was picking up my bike from their shop after it had been worked on and wanted both to look at bike helmets and to see if someone could help me setup my 15+ year old car mounted bike rack properly. I received an informative bike helmet tour and then a manager of the store with thirty years experience in the industry gave me possibly the most thorough tutorials one could ask for on my bike rack with lots of additional bike knowledge thrown in. He then informed me that the labor on my bike is guaranteed (forgot the length of time) and that they correct any problems customers may encounter. I havent had any problems but it is great to know that they stand by their work and that there are measures in place for mistakes.

This bike shop rocks! I was visiting from out of town and needed to rent a road bike to put in some miles. The staff was super helpful and pointed me in the direction of the Monon trail. If you cant have fun on this bike path you need to check your brake pads for friction! I really appreciated the helpfulness of the guys (and gal) in the shop and I wouldnt hesitate to rent from them again. By the way, Indy has to be one of the most bike friendly cities I have visited, and I travel a ton. I highly recommend BGI.

Safety has to come first everytime. This review is strictly based off my only priority when it comes to my children: SAFETY FIRST. We ordered 2 hybrid bikes, trail-a-bike, and bike trailer to be delivered to our hotel for a 4 hr rental following morning. Noticing before they were handed to us, a replacement part was sent over and fixed to better secure the trail-a bike. My husband was then handed an inner cracked helmet again replaced upon request. Shawn was pleasant and helpful to our needs before our family of 4 headed out. Everything was fine until sheer horror struck. The bar connecting my 2 year old daughters Burley trailer to my bike began clanging on the ground along the canal. I look back and MY DAUGHTER WAS NO LONGER THERE. Let what I just stated sink in. I jumped off the bike and began running, screaming for help, screaming if anyone had seen my daughter. I feared she was at the bottom of the canal. I soon spotted her safely in the trailer 2 feet from the waters edge several hundred feet back and around a bend. There are simply no words in times like this. You are a parent. Your only job is to protect your children. Today, I could not, because the person/people in charge who guaranteed the condition of our equipment and stated we were good to go forgot to attach both the bike trailer pin and latch the clip to my bike. Safety prechecks and ensuring staff can demonstrate knowledge of all rental equipment should be required. Our family is incredibly fortunate today over details that were clearly overlooked. Both Shawn, owner Scott, among other in-shop employees were sincerely apologetic and reached out to our family, as well as refunding our rental.

Fantastic customer service that blew me away...far exceeding my expectations and gaining my trust for major purchases in the future.As a new customer and new to the area, I made a bike purchase at BGI from a well respected bike manufacturer. Unfortunately, I had some issues with this bike (no fault of BGI), and I was quite worried about how the bike manufacturer was going to handle the problem. BGI stepped in, took care of the entire problem, and made me one very happy customer. I have had a lot of experience with bike shops and bike purchases. Many are awesome, and some not so great. I cannot recommend this store enough, and I thank them for solving my problem in such a classy, professional way :)))))

I went in to have them check the air and left paying $1.99 cents for air and some lubricant for my chain. I could not just get the air, they said I had to also have the lubricant. No one wonder they are not doing any business. Major ripoff and price gouging.

Perhaps Im saying this because I ask for fairly technical things when I come in here. Its historically been the first place Id go when I need something smallish and dont feel like its worth it to shop around. Im sure they are fine for bringing bikes in for tuneups and such but there are signifigantly less expert on parts to my experience. Ive been given the wrong item twice when Ive gone in previously. Once was for a tube which I needed (I brought the box for the tube in) and they gave me Schräder instead of Presta so it didnt fit. To get the right one I went to Bikes on Mass after heading back in to return the tube, and paid about 50% what BGI wouldve charged me.The other time was looking for an axle I had that was damaged. I brought the old one in for them to measure as Id determined it might be an odd size. At first they gave me a standard size even though Id handed them the cones and nuts that needed to fit on there. I checked it while I was still there, luckily and got my refund right away. Id assumed that the length was 110 millimeters like the majority of front axles, however that was 2 too many and they apparently didnt doublecheck it. They needed me to come back in when they couldnt find a part with that measurement in their ordering database.They told me the staff-member who puts in the orders would be there the following day and put in the order for me. Eager to get my part, I phoned to confirm this on said day to learn it had not gone in and would have to be ordered the next day.These guys are not fools but I find them to be overconfident that things kindof *just go right* and it means I get inconvenience. So the delayed order is strike three for me, really, and I wont be likely to go back here unless its for something very simple or to ask a them a question.

Mechanics would rather sell you more stuff than actually try to help fix your bike. Regular items are overpriced but what bike shop isn’t.

They have the parts, yes, but the service is not good. I was requested to leave my bike for an entire day to mount clip-on fenders. After buying them to do it myself and finally having the packaging opened, i had to buy the tools to adjust them rather than borrowing them for a minute. Will come back only if i have to.
