The food was good as always and the service was quick. Got through the serving line in good time, despite how busy it looked when I got there. MCL was there when I needed them, as they were one of the few places to eat that had electricity after the storm. Not the cheapest place to eat, but the food is definitely worth it.
Absolutely fantastic cafeteria style dinner. All the food was great, there were too many options to choose from. Very friendly staff with minimal to no wait even during the lunch rush hour when everyone and there brother shows up (wich is a pretty good indication of their food). I wish there were more places like this one.
This place has a special feel of respect to me. Its always so quiet and the atmosphere is perfect for a group setting. I usually pop in and get the fresh food made daily that is sooooo good. If you havent had that friend chicken get there it is amazing. I also recommend you leave room for a fancy dessert with plenty to choose from. I used a coupon today for free pie so I went with pecan pie wow,wow,wow, it left me speechless. This place is so local and has convenient parking. Its a must stop in if near the east side of town.
The food is always great but the good hospitality varies with each employee. Almost made me stop coming. Its better now during the day. I dont go in the evening any longer. Young adults no manners. Other than that, Im satisfied.
Went in for carry out order although the place wasnt crowded it took forever to move through the line wanted a beef Manhattan but they didnt have any roast beef other then that employees were mice food was good
I have loved MCL since I was a kid! Always Good! Never a let down. This was my fiances first time here and he enjoyed the food. We had side salad, beef Manhattans, and he also had a chicken thigh. We will definitely be back!

Today was my first time here and I took my 14 year old son and we both had one of the best times that we have ever had anywhere. I loved it and had such a great time and so did my son.

Mothers Day special for 6-8 people fried chicken dinner was very delicious! I bought an extra side and a coconut cream pie all for $87. They took great care in packing the foods as I ordered carry out. I will definitely do this again!

Food was hot but bland no seasoning, the night I went there were kids running the place they were on their phones, and had people in plain clothes coming behind the counter to get drinks even though, they were not working... we got there pretty late around 7 they closed at 8 so the kids were ancy, good food for an older crowd. First off our waitress was fantastic! In a good mood and friendly. Now for the young people working the line. Where should I start, with the rudeness of slamming the plates on the line, then asking us If you could help us like we were interrupting you in some sort of way. Alot of the food on the line was looking a little dry, and needed stired.After finally getting through the line we sat down.A few minutes later a gentleman was in line. I could hear him start raising his voice to the young works on the line. I could hear him say This is the rudest service Ive ever had

Today was a horrible service.......... With exception of our waitress Kathy she was awesome at taking care of us..... However the number of teenagers goofing off they have working the food line alongside with management there was minimum food options to choose from because they were lacking replenishing. I never received my side order of Mac and Cheese they promise to deliver to the table. Thank you Kathy for your outstanding service.getting me a refund and picking up the slack of your coworkers.
Stuffed chicken was excellent. However mac & cheese was very bland. Dining room attendant was very pleasant. I will be back to get my grub on!

I love MCL, grew up going there. Love the food. I hadnt been on there in a long time. Went in today...no one was wearing gloves, or hair nets, staff just kind of standing around. I asked for gravy on my chicken twice, completely ignored lol. Asked for pie togo...4 people and a manager let me stand there for 3 mins without saying anything, keep in mind my food was being rung up so they knew I was waiting. You could tell they were just going through the motions...customer service was not a priority lol.
Customer service was ok, the younger generation was a little to playful. But my food was good.
There stuffed chicken breast is the best yet !They have a bunch of great dishes . When I was 5 or 6 years old I always got chicken 🍗, than there is always the delicious beef manhattan . And supporting a local small business at the same time.

We have been going to this location for years. I dont know if they have had a recent management change. But they were very disorganized. The usual friendly servers that were got to know are now gone . The service sucked and a lot of them were just standing around. I will not going to be going back to this location.

Absolutely horrible. Most of the time when I come to MCL Cafeteria my food is good but I particularly love the coleslaw. So I always buy it in pints or quarts. This time I ordered a pint of coleslaw and instead of giving me the coleslaw they had a front the lady went and got me some from the back. It was horribly old and I cannot believe they gave me this coleslaw. With as much money as you guys charge for food you would think that you would make sure if somebody buys a pint or quart of coleslaw it would be fresh or at least made the same day. You can see the yellowish browning of the cabbage and its not the center either.

Ordered roast beef, and got one slice. Weighed it, I got not even two ounces. This is the norm from most places now. I’m tired of it.

Everyone here is very, very, friendly. The food is always good, and hot. The staff all go out of their way to make sure that you have a good experience. They go the extra mile to ensure you are happy and have a very satisfying experience. If you have to wait on your food they offer a free drink and they make sure that all the rest of your food is hot to boot! The restaurant is always clean and the staff members go to extreme lengths to make sure that they wash their hands and to make sure your food is neat! Like I said you can not go wrong eating here (well picking up food, at this time) they have a nice menu of foods...So very, very, glad they are around.So thank you all around to this restaurant and all the people who work here!

I just moved to the area and during the pandemic, I appreciate the staff for being open. They are always glad to see me and cook the best chicken, fried fish, liver and onions and the sides taste like I am at a church picnic. Needed that. Best home cooked /take out meal I have had since Christmas. ❤

I bought four pieces of chicken there the other night. Usually the chicken is decent. But this chicken had too much salt. It tasted as though someone sprinkled salt on the chicken after cooking.

The one good thing I can say, only MCL ever wasnt a cloud of flies going through the food line. All of my food was lukewarm to cold. Seasoning on fried chicken was good but meat was cool, green beans tasted chemically. The staff was pleasant, dining room was clean.
I LOVE THE SALADS! I love everything about the salads! how much time and work this location puts into the image and food quality is outstanding. ive never tasted a Cobb salad that mimics family dinners like these do.

Desserts to die for with sweet staff to match. they go out of their way to converse with me every time i stop in. their strawberry cake and blueberry cheesecake hit the spot every time. if youre looking to crave your sweet tooth i highly recommend swinging by.

Ordered on Doordash to save myself the trip. Havent eaten all day, was looking forward to Turkey Breast with Gravy, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy and some good ol Mac n cheese. Received order with no gravy. Whole reason why I ordered what I did. That gravy 😋. Had to drive back to the restaurant myself because I just couldnt eat it without the gravy. Customer service was very rude. Offered to take what I had and add gravy. I asked for fresh food. With a smirk, she exchanged my order with fresh food AND gravy. Not only were they rude, when they gave me fresh food, they gave me smaller portions. I asked for a coke twice while I was waiting. Both ladies said just a sec and never got my drink. Asked for a third time and instead of getting me a To-go coke while I wait for the inconvenience, she walked over to the manager to talk. I walked out. I am so very disappointed. I have been coming to this MCL for years and have ordered it on DoorDash many many times for the good comfort food. The terrible customer service out weighs the food for me. Ill never go back now. Thanks for the trouble MCL, maybe if you would read your kitchen tickets correctly, you wont lose customers....

We just left the restaurant. While there these are the things we observed:One lady was serving food, then went to the cash register took money (no gloves) then went right back to the serving line. Did not wash hands or use sanitizer.A floor server took dishes off a table .,. Did not sanitize table or wash it all go at all.Another man who was on the serving line, put his fingers in his ear and then served food. No cleaning hands.Still another man was placing his hands over the steam table food. Close to the food and warming his hands.The counter tops by the bread and drinks were dirty. The floor in front of the food line had spills in several places and was not cleaned while we were there and people were walking through the messes tracking onto the carpet.We have been going to MCLs for years. We have NEVER had even one complaint in any location.I am so upset..with COVID-19 I feel that things were not being done to keep germs down for even normal times less lone today.We will Never come into your restaurant again. I want to find a way to tell others what went on. What a sad situation.Along with all this and not nearly as serious.... the food was not up to MCLs standards. My bun for my sandwich was not fresh. The meat was cold, the green beans had very little flavor the pie was also not up to par.SAD. Just very SAD for those you are feeding and for your businessDonna Dowd
Just stopped for quick lunch. Special of the day, grilled ham and cheese sandwich plus one side and drink. Good price. There were lots of choices besides. Older decor but clean, bright and good food. Pleasant and attentive servers.
During theses troubling times its nice to be able to go to my local MCL on Arlington and 10th Street and greeted with a warm welcoming smile. Even though the staff has cut back and you have people doing more than one job, excellent customer service is still their priority. Great job staff .

This long time chain has always been a favorite. The food is fresh and worth the cost. My only complaint of this location is the cleanliness. The carpeting looked as if it hadnt been swept or cleaned in a while. The tables werent bussed efficiently. While some employees presented a professional, warm welcome, others appeared to be dressed for a nightclub. Was quite a difference from what I expected of such a reputable chain. Id recommend going to another location.

Great place for home style cooking
We arrived and it was not busy. Started to make our selections and the person ahead had a big to go order. There were plenty of people working but they couldnt seem to get it together to fill this order. There was no teamwork and this caused a bottle neck. The servers wouldnt help each other, an its not my job mentality. We got to drinks the server said the were out of coffee cups and would bring it to our table. The wait while they were trying to get the to go order caused our food to cool considerably. Finally got through and the coffee was not brought. Had to ask for it. After we sat we noticed the girl working salads scratching her head and rubbing her face and hair along with checking her phone then handling food. Would have not purchased food if we had seen this earlier. We come here regularly but will not anymore after seeing the blatant unsanitary way the server was.
