I think it’s one of the best bakeries that I’ve ever visited. The pastries and sandwiches are amazing. The apple puffs and chocolate croissants are delicious. We discovered this place only on the second day of our stay and we ended up eating breakfast our remaining trip and even picked up our dinner/lunches from this place. We also bought a lot of pastries for our trip back home. They sell a lot of local food products and it’s all reasonably priced. The food on the other hand is a little pricey but definitely worth it.
Excellent quality! Due to their fabulousness, they can get pretty busy at lunch time, but it is well worth the wait. Many vegetarian options as well as traditional deli fare. Their baked goods - all of them - are top notch. My latest taste sensations were the Michigan Hollow and the Anne of Danby sandwiches. I would highly recommend either of these! I cant wait to go back and try out more of their menu. They have a fabulous service ethic to boot!
Great takeout food options. The bakery has some fantastic things, and also a few that are more a nice novelty. Lots of choices though, and a cool place to bring a family.
All around pretty meh. This is an old school coffee spot that has a massive menu and doesnt seem to do anything well. I had their Plant Power sandwich which is Beyond sausage, Just egg, vegan cheese, aioli, and arugula on a bagel. It sounded great but in execution it was pretty mediocre. Of course the products themselves are tasty, but the shreds were not melted and really gross, Im not even sure what brand theyre using but there are wayyy better brands out there these days. Also there were maybe two sprigs of arugula and it was a pretty tiny sandwich for being $9. I get that Just and Beyond are more expensive items, but the quality of the rest of the sandwich didnt match. With a bigger bagel and more veggies, along with different shreds (or none), it would have been much better. Their other vegan options were just the same old hummus and sprouts sandwich and two vegan baked goods out of a huge baked goods selection. They do have oat milk creamer out for coffee, youll need a lot of it cuz the coffee is pretty awful. They have wifi tho and you can hang for as long as you want, so it gets the job done for that purpose. Other than that, for the food/coffee, I would not recommend it.
Very busy, efficient place - good, strong dark roast coffee and a credible NYC style onion bagel - though it was slightly undercooked and a bit doughy (vs. soft inside with a crunch-crew on the outside) - given the $6 premium, I expected more flavor from the whitefish salad and a meal-sized breakfast portion vs. the very light spread barely covering the bagel surface - it was only about a Tablespoon in total.
Really good bagel! Coffee was fine. The ordering and pick-up system is a little confusing though. We ordered our bagel on one side, where they also ask for your phone number. We then ordered our coffee on the other side, where we also paid for our total. After a few minutes, they called us up on the intercom to let us know our coffee was ready. Then they told us to wait for a text on our phone to know when to pick-up our bagel.
Ithaca Bakery has some of the tastiest sandwiches in the area, and a nice selection of drinks, salads, and other goods. A little bit pricier than other similar places, but you get what you pay for. Ithaca Bakery also has a decent selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Pre-pandemic, there were also frequent events here, such as music and trivia nights. Overall, a great place to grab a bite to eat and a nice cup of coffee!
Very popular place for both locals and tourists. They serve good food and surely dont forget to pick up your favorite 🍰!
Great restaurant and Bakery. Restaurant menu has long list sandwich, on fresh breads and bagels. Excellent Bakery - cakes, cookies and assorted desserts.
This has easily climbed to one of my top spots in ithaca. I have a good allergy and no matter who waits on me they always take such great care to make sure it doesnt get any where near my stuff! I am definitely considering myself a regular here now!
Delicious. Just. Delicious. Totally worth the 45 mile drive from Corning. Loved their sandwiches. Their coffee kept me popped up for the 230 mile drive to newark. And they have a bunch of locally made bread / aoli thats insanely delicious as well.Support local.Keep your tummy and soul happy. 😀
Food was good. I sat outside but there was a bit of a bee problem so I decided to move inside. There isnt really clear direction about where you order what so it can be overwhelming for first timers. The staff could stand to be kinder in explaining but it was a busy Sunday morning so I get it .
We visited in the morning. So much variety for breakfast, sandwiches, pastries, coffee. Staff is friendly and helpful. They made a mistake with my order and right away took action. I liked that answer. It was crowded when we arrived, everyone was calm and waited for the orders.
The new Vegan Power Plant breakfast sandwich! A great sandwich if you eat vegan, seek plentiful protein, and have plenty of money. $11 with tip. This sandwich was impossible even 5 years ago, since then engineering for legume-protein sausage, melty gooey dairy-free cheese, and non-egg egg have occurred. The sandwich was missing its schmear of promised vegan aioli, and my salivary glands had to compensate against the dryness. The only characteristics about the arugula was that it was green, with none of its desired spikey flavor coming thru. Neither was there much of it.The best part was how JUST egg is so impressively egg-like, I could not believe. The worst part was the price and lack of nuanced flavor besides salt and protein oomami.
Hands down, the best place for lunch. Just finished hiking at Taughannnock Falls and stopped here after for lunch and it was so worth the short drive! The customer service was fantastic from start to finish and the food was delicious. I got the Laura’s Sweet Surprise and the combination of flavors were perfect. My friend got a blueberry muffin, a baby vanilla cheesecake, and the Autum Sky sandwich and she loved everything! Hope you get the chance to enjoy this wonderful place and check out all the local goodies they sell inside!
Large selection with a variety of sizes to choose from. We stopped in for a quick mid-afternoon treat while out exploring. On the way back to the hotel we passed by again and got a shareable dessert for later. All were very tasty. A must stop by place.
Great sandwiches and baked goods. No better place for lunch in Ithaca.
Food here was not all it was cracked up to be. We out in our order waited 20 mins and then it came out all wrong. Then another 20 mins waiting for it to be corrected. The place is not wiped down after any customer leaves a table. The size of the sandwiches is absolutely ridiculous for what you paying. Its not often my whole family agrees on a restaurant but we all agrees never go here again. We could have full meals at a sit down restaurant for tiny sandwiches we had here.
Love this place! It has it all... coffee, baked goods, an awesome sandwich bar, a healthy food buffet, and theyre even tapped!
Very average bakery, I thought was less good than reviews had made it out to be, bagel was good texture but really flavorless, very busy though so does seem like a staple in the town to get breakfast. I love bakeries and try them everywhere and am easy to please and only had the bagel sandwich here as I didn’t see any baked goods that I wanted to try. Bought a few loaves of bread (potato loaf was good, French loaf was not good).
I loved the food because all the options were really interesting and they had a lot of turkey sandwich options, which I dont usually find at other places. They also offered vegan desserts, nice for us since we have an egg allergy. I would absolutely recommend this place.
Was one of our favorite places to eat on a visit to Ithaca. We enjoyed the sandwiches, pastries and coffee. They were always busy (we visited late-morning), and it took a couple of visits to get comfortable with the multiple ordering, paying, and pick-up lines that you must negotiate before getting your food. Finding a parking place nearby can be a chore.
Terrible and rude customer service. They refused to give the items I paid for to me until I showed them a receipt. That would normally make sense, but they did not give me a receipt. If you request a receipt to pick up food, you need to give a receipt. It’s not that complicated, but obviously the people here are not bright enough to understand that. Only come here if you want to deal with incompetence.
The food is good but the place is a mad house. Hard to know where to go to order what and where to go to pay. Finding seating is a scrum. Not a relaxing meal.
Food and coffee was great. Ordering process was confusing. I had to stand in two lines to order my breakfest. Employees were either unhappy or untrained. Needs leadership and streamlining. Food was amazing though.
I was visiting Ithaca and decided to check this place out. Line was long so I didn’t mind waiting awhile. You have to check out at one counter and cash out at another. I ordered a vegetarian breakfast bagel. After 30 minutes the food was ready. It was a turkey sandwich. I took it back and they discovered the cashier put my order is as a completely different order (California Dream, I believe). So they said they would fix it and make the vegetarian breakfast bagel (Sunrise). Ten minutes later the new one came out. I started eating it and realized there was bacon on it. Absolutely disgusted with this place.
Excellent lattes! I am still kicking myself that I didnt get back to sample their pastries. It is a must the next time Im in Ithaca.
Yum, great food. You will wait 20min for a panini but it is very good. Great desserts
Delicious food and a very well organised service. Check the menu for choosing, check which line youll need to be, then get in line again for payment and then be called or text to get your order. Works nicely, I promise.
A little pricey, but its my favorite weekend go-to. Could use some beginner friendly signage to help newbies navigate the atypical checkout process. A blurb on the paper menus, perhaps.
Fantastic! My wife and I went to grab a sweet breakfast, I had a cold brew coffee which was great, and the key lime bar, which was fantastic! Great atmosphere, a nice little cafe, were only in Ithaca for five days but were definitely stopping here again to try the breakfast sandwiches and bread!
Decent bakery, highly popular. Too popular for the quality. Theres always a long wait. Sandwiches dominate their menu.
Well, I used to love IB/CTB but todays sandwich was ridiculously small to the point where I complained and havent heard back. I dont mind paying but it just seems like the sandwich I like has gotten smaller and smaller to the point where I would need to order two. SO thus my review. Guess if I want a Reuben Ill go to Shortstop next time.Update: They got back to me and are making it right. Things happen. At least when things go wrong they have good customer service. On the plus side they have a good sized moccachino.
Genuinely, have been here so many times and am constantly disappointed…dry muffins, flavorless sandwiches, way overpriced, just horrible. 5 years in ithaca i have gone back again and again like dozens of times and have never been satisfied. food is awful they put raw mushrooms on their sandwiches im so disappointed god
I love Ithaca Bakery! I make a point of coming here each time Im in the area. My boyfriend and I love seeing the new espresso drinks that are up and use it as a common spot to discuss where we want to visit in the area. Even with a covid setup, theres still a good amount of seating and things move smoothly.
Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and was so so happy I stopped in! Their sandwiches are delicious (although on the smaller side, the one I got filled me up and I had to save my eclair for later) and their eclairs are gigantic. It gets pretty busy so you have to try to skip peak lunch time but definitely worth a visit 😁
Ordered bagel and lox and the bagel was hard as a rock and there was minimal cream cheese, for $11.00? Expected better for the price.
Fantastic food. Very friendly to food allergies. Took care of my celiac girlfriend.Go to lunch and breakfast spot in Ithaca.
Specialty sandwiches are pricey, and small. Very good, however!
Food was very good not a long wait. Staff was very nice. Bathroom was filthy as was ceiling vents in store
We have been going to Ithaca Bakery in the summers for over a decade now. Ever since COVID (2020), their service and food quality has been terrible. Even when it’s close to empty it still takes over 20 minutes to get your food. On top of that, almost all by order have been filled incorrectly. I have gotten wrong drink orders, the wrong food orders, and bad quality food (stale bagels) ever since 2020. All my friends and I have now stopped going to Ithaca Bakery for all these reasons. Before COVID Ithaca Bakery was perfect, now it’s ruined. We hope management reads this review and will change back.
Wonderful selection of breads and baked goods. Wide selection @ breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets. Sandwiches cant be beat. Can get crowded. Go early if you want indoor seating. Seating available outdoors but heavy traffic can be annoying.
Super bummed with my experience. I ordered a steamer and 2 large peanutbutter cookies to go...got to my hotel and I had 2 not so good chocolate chip cookies. The service was slow and it wasnt busy and my steamer was warm at best. Its a super cute bakery. I was there once before years ago and it was much better. Tossed the cookies in the trash and drank my cold steamer.
🔥 food. Great bread and breakfast
Great bakery with delicious bagel sandwices! We had the Round house and steak & egg. 😋
Get out of here it was great home made bagles get there before noon or they are gone. Everything was great
Nothing special but jazzed up like its special. The service is pleasant but oh my, so unorganized. You would think after all the years open, they would be somewhat efficient.Decent sandwiches and desserts geared to tourists and college parents.
Good food. Fast service.
Had great dine in experience. My daughter and I had bagels. These are the best bagels in town. You would have a hard time finding better bagels in NYC.
Bakery is first rate with pastries, bagel, artisan bread and more. But the cappuccino, served only in tall paper cups, was more of an unmixed latte with fat foam over a cavern of coffee.
I used to be a daily visitor before covid. Its been well over a year since my last visit and I am so sad at how different is in there. Food bar is gone (understandable), cookies and cakes were slim pickings. And the worst part is when I ordered my coffee I was asked cream and sugar. And they added the cream for me. For some who likes their coffee a certain way. I dont want to stand back in line to ask the barrister for more creamer. I could get better service at a gas station.
You better get there before noon cuz they run out fresh Bagels
Very kind and nice staff. The range of sandwiches they offer is huge and the cashiers do a good job if you have questions. The range of pastries is incredible and very tempting! Never tried but they do have a morning buffet breakfast that has all the essential breakfast items.I really like the coffee and the espresso drinks! One of the best places after gimme coffee to get coffee from!
Excellent bakery and 🥯 shop. Great place to start your day. And the ☕ is on point too!
Decent food. Terrible service. Had to wait 15 minute for a drink bc the employee in charge of that station had no idea how to make it. The guy in front me waited 25 minutes for the same reason.
Ok, staff NOT knowledgeable about their own bakery products... that being said what we ended up getting bakery products (cream cheese brownie and stone cookie) were excellent. Their choices of bottles beverages were meh...stay away from CBD elixors and their Tevanna refreshers.
Took 20 min from ordering of bagel to the time I received the bagel. They are a very busy place. It was good though
Great bakery with a plethora of fresh options.
The bread was delicious but it took 45 minutes for my sandwiches to be made.
Good sandwich 🥪 Great selection...
Omg, their Peanut Butter & Joe smoothie is súper and not too sweet! It is not on the menu. It comes vegan with almond milk, coffee, banana, and I asked for extra peanut butter. The line looks scary, but it only took less than 15 min to get the drink after I stepped into the line.
Super nice staff, delicious bagel & croissants.
It breaks my heart to see how much this place has changed. This was my go-to place when I had out of town visitors because it was (in my opinion) the best place in town. Since COVID things have gone dramatically down hill. To some degree I get it, the economy took a big hit and we all feel it. But at this point its just sad. I miss the old IB.
I go here almost daily and the service is phenomenal! They remember my name and it really makes me feel like Im a valued customer!
Amazing bakery in Ithaca. Great bagels, wide variety of baked goods, and superb coffee. Gets busy so have patience, it is totally worth it.
I go to Ithaca Bakery for the vegan crumble bars and multi grain bread. Theyre the most simple and most delicious treats!
Go-to bakery in Ithaca. Good variety of well-made and fairly priced sandwiches.
Been going here over 50 yrs never fails always improving...
Coffee was very good. I also had some of the baked goods. Many prepared dishes to bring home and heat. If I stop again, I would like to try a panini.
This is by far the most consistently frustrating business I have ever been to. As a local, I’ve been here many times, every time I come they mess up the simplest of orders. I don’t blame the staff because i think they are underpaid. The food is extremely overpriced and the bagels are bad.
Food is delicious for the most part. Customer service, not so much. Anytime I have been in there I have found their staff to be quite rude.
Great food but always expect a long wait for your coffees and sandwiches. Fantastic selection and great tasting. But like I said --long wait. Every time. But its Not Mickey Dees! Worth the wait!
Well, since you asked me for a review, here it is. I really like pretty much all the people who work at Ithaca Bakery. The owners are good people, the manager is great. The staff is solid. So....why are they so slow and tend to screw up. Today was a good example: I have been there four times since last March 22 lockdown. Ordered a 12 Oz American. After waiting 11 or 12 minutes and watching 4 or 5 people who ordered after me leave with their coffees I mentioned that I was still waiting. Four minutes later they produced the wrong size Americano for me. Really? 15 minutes for espresso and water? The dudes in Roma have your shot in 30 seconds because they know youre on break, and their job is to pull your shot and yours is to drink it. The sandwich folks bust a hump to get your food out, the counter people are fine, but it breaks down at the brewing.
Good sandwiches! Highly recommend the Mount Pleasant or the Reuben
You cant find anything bad here. Everything is delicious!
Great place cool vibe great food
They have a phenomenal selection of sandwiches!
Good food, really busy.
Have been here before and love the pastries and food. Went 4/8/21 and the service was slow when they were not busy at all. The employees seemed like they couldn’t be bothered and honestly were rude. Food was still amazing but they were very slow considering it was not busy and there were a lot of people working.
Lovely staff! I stopped by just for coffee but the whole experience was great. While waiting for my latte I browsed through great gourmet products and read the menus. They offer variety of meals to go sounding very tempting. I will definitely visit this NYC like caffé/bakery next time I am in the area. There are some tables for dining outside, too. I recommend it :)
Very disappointed with the way they organized Ithaca bakery on route thirteen. You end up waiting for your food and drink on separate lines. No one knows where they are going. Not a pleasant time.
Cool spot, lots of gluten free options! The check out is a little confusing...
Very disappointing. Got breakfast sandwiches and took them to go on a picnic, and they both had no eggs! $8.50 each for bacon between two tiny slices of bread. And the lady at the counter was very rude.
Great food and smoothies, but be prepared for a long wait time.
Amazing bread and customer service!! Just a little confusing where to order and pay... but 100% satisfied
Probably the best bakery in central NY, but had to dock one star. The dude I picked up my food from didnt know which sandwich was which.... If he doesnt know how is the consumer supposed to guess? Trying to avoid opening and touching my friends sandwiches...
