Great store with a large selection of high quality clothes and shoes, the staff are also very helpful and they can tailor stuff. In fact tailoring is included in the cost of all their stuff I believe. They are also flexible, I went in 3 days before a wedding, and three days before payday, and I was able to find the perfect suit and shoes and pay for it on pickup.

We rented a tux for my sons prom and had an outstanding experience. The selection was impressive and the price was very reasonable. The store was very busy and I expected a long wait but was delighted to be quickly assisted. Our salesman was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and exceeded our expectations. Students heading for interviews, formal parties, visits to New York City, or just wanting to look well-heeled should shop here, as I do, to see what good taste and quality still can mean in our chainstore/quick obsolescence store world. Everything is carefully chosen and the looks are sophisticated and still comfortable, of great materials, with classic style that will last a long time. It is really hard to find a store like this any more, Ithaca is lucky to have it. Highly recommended.

Although prices are on the high end, the convenience of having a quality mens wear store in town struck me as worth it. I received excellent service and walked out with exactly what I needed. My only suggestion would be for a little more inventory on the upper end of sizing - some more options there would have been appreciated. The Small Business Saturday promotion saved me money, and the salesman helpfully applied some rewards points immediately to a significant purchase. I was very impressed overall and will be returning in the future!

I needed a nice formal dress shirt and Im so glad I stopped here instead of going to a box store. These guys are knowledgeable, generous, and helpful. Its the kind of service you can only get at a local shop like this.

Excellent service

We used Benjamin Peters for our guys’ tuxedos. The groom, groomsman and dads rented tuxes. Although, I think they were very helpful and knowledgeable, somewhere like Men’s Warehouse, has so many tuxedos to try on. It was difficult to picture how the tux would look, just from a magazine or from the app. It might have been nice to see other options on the actual groom or others in the party. They were helpful with measuring and fitting considering all guys were from out of town.

I purchased some dress shoes online. They were expensive and I didnt know if they fit correct. I nervously brought them in and asked if the fit ok. Sam said put them on and checked them out said they fit perfect. They didnt have to do that but was nice that they cared more about my comfort then where I bought them.

Benjamin Peters is the last remaining mens clothing store in Ithaca -- probably in a much wider area -- with superb taste and quality. And it isnt a chain. My husbands wedding suit came from here; ties, socks, gorgeous bathrobes, beautiful sweaters that you just dont see these days well-tailored trousers, etc.. Ithaca is extremely lucky to still have a place with clothing made to these standards, and I hope that the incoming male students in both schools take the time to check it out -- Commons construction or no, it is worth the visit.

I rented the suit for my wedding there, as did 5 groomsmen, two fathers, and two young boys in the ceremony. The guys at Benjamin Peters were consumate pros through the whole process. Of course some of the rentals were a little off, but they made the changes happen with the rental company--and when it looked like some suits might not make it in time, they were willing to drive to Enfield to meet the truck to get them! Service above and beyond the call of duty. They are great.

Ive recently had very bad experiences at Benjamin Peters. When I tried to return a defective pair of pants they refused to exchange them - and were incredibly rude to me, blaming me for the fact that the pants fell apart after they were worn twice. And before this they insulted me when I asked them to make a simple repair (and they refused to do it). I used to be a good customer, but Ill never go back.
