We were in town for breakfast while camping in GTNP and excited to see a local bookshop across the street. We are being intentional about spending money locally and enjoy checking out local bookshops when traveling. Sadly, it was a disappointing experience with unfriendly staff that made us feel we could have been in any generic bookstore.

A great customer service story: I came by and my special order hadn’t been received. The owner drove to deliver it to me in person that night. Wow! She obviously really cares about her customers. As if I didn’t have enough reasons to support independent bookstores before, this is a great reminder of why they are such gems!

The Valley Bookstore is the perfect place to stop and pick up your post adventure reads! They have an amazing selection of the current bestsellers, books about Wyoming and everything in between. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable . They even gift wrap for free! Highly recommend this adorable shop.

Love the new location and the ability to support a local business online! The new owners clearly share Steve’s vision of Valley being a keystone in the community. There’s an incredible, curated selection to shop in store, and the staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations. I was honestly so impressed by the customer service as a passer through (I am from out of town) that I plan to continue supporting this wonderful shop through their online store from home!

I have loved Valley Bookstore for years, they have a great selection of local books which are so much fun, and the staff is so helpful. They were able to get me the book I needed before Christmas. So happy to have them open again!!!

Loved this bookstore! Perfectly cozy tucked away in the alley and they have an excellent selection of nature books, field guides, and local authors (plus all the other genres I assure you). One of my personal favs is their “staff picks” where they have given brief reviews on highly recommended titles. Great store!

I’m sad about what the new owners have done with the place. It felt like a sterile airport bookstore, and it doesn’t have any character that a small local bookstore should have. The selection feels way smaller and less curated too than before.

Such a cute little bookstore! Out of the way of foot traffic and with a wide variety to choose from. All ages and styles would love this quaint little spot. Added bonus: the staff are super!

The book selection was a bit limited, but they were all good choices. Obviously new books are a bit expensive (and bad for the environment), so there were a few used books outside of the store. I overhead an employee being very helpful with a gluten-free/paleo customer :) I purchased the Tao Te Ching

One of the best independent bookstores still around, they have a great selection with little reviews below staff picks, a beautiful kids room and knowledgeable staff. They’re also located in Gaslight Alley, a Hogwarts-ish charming corner of the square, and decorate for every season with careful details.

My favorite book store to browse. They never balk at my kids being loud and excited to check out the books. Always a plus for me.

I grew up in Jackson and going to this book store. We come back and visit every year and had a great experience. However year after year the service and people there have gotten even more miserable and unfriendly. We came in there with a little guy (2) and he was giggling and walking back and forth talking but causing no other issue other than being a little boy. We were the only ones in there as we made sure to go in at opening to avoid tons of people. I was waiting for the lady to check me out. She had just started to walk from the register when I came up. She was just watching the little guy and kept sighing very loudly and acted very inconvenienced at our presence. We came in special to help my 10 year old cousin buy a birds of Yellowstone book she really wanted. Once the lady decided to check me out she sighed loudly again like me buying a book was just the end of her world. It was very rude. She did not acknowledge me other than to tell me the total. She did not engage with me or tell me thank you nothing. She was VERY unpleasant. I was very unhappy with the lack of service she didnt even offer to help us find the book or greet us. I will not ever suggest visitors to go there ever again. So disappointing.

Great bookstore for our smallish town. Owner Steve and his friendly staff will find the book you want or order it and have it in your hands very quickly.
