I love this store. Solid variety and very helpful staff. They even have small climbing features so you can get a feel for your gear before you walk out the door. Its now my go to spot for gear in the area.
THE BEST selection & service today! @osprey backpack & @thermorest Mondoking 3D sleeping pad! I🧡 local shopping
Great store with everything you need. Can be pricier than Amazon obviously but not too bad.
Nicely stocked with quality good. I like the small gear clearance area upstairs.
I had a ski boot that needed a quick repair to save my trip. They fixed it while I waited. Worked great and was on the slopes the next day. Great service!
Keith is a miracle worker!! He fixed my ski that had exposed core due to falling out of a broken ski rack while driving. I thought my trip to Jackson was ruined, but the staff at Teton Mountaineering was so helpful and turned the ski around in just a few hours. It was fast, affordable and I would highly recommend this shop for your gear fixes!!!
Nice store. Friendly staff
Great rental rates on snow shoes and cross country skis. Staff is super friendly and fantastic to work with.
The store is fantastic, however the older gentleman that works in there was the rudest person I encountered in Jackson Hole. 😞
I live in New York City, but when I need something serious, like climbing shoes that have to fit, I wait however many years it takes before my next Teton trip and I come here. Theyre that good. Also, the place is dripping with history. Ive been shopping here since they were at their old location, way back in the 20th century, and still love the place.
Great staff, easiest rental place Ive ever dealt with.
Very knowledgeable and helpful staff for a good variety of outdoor needs. Highly recommend
Great rental rates and very accommodating. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
Visited today for new log underwear and found we some Patagonia ones and then found incredible Alpine Touring skis and boots I have wanted a setup for years and years and finally decided to go for it. Wade was SO helpful!!!
The store had some good products, but its mostly clothing with some moutaineering stuff. The man working the front desk was very rude to my wife when she walked in and forgot to use the hand sanitizer at the front door. He made her do five full globs of hand sanitizer before he let her come. Youre better taking your money elsewhere where customers are valued instead of bullied.
Friendly staff, and the store has plenty of nice gear.
Seemed fairly priced. Got Darn Tough socks and Marmont gloves and they were REI prices. Nice people. Helpful.
Great store not just for climbing but for all sorts of other outdoor equipment needs and clothing!
I understand the need for following COVID guidelines, but these people were INCREDIBLY rude in enforcing it. They threatened to kick us out just because we didnt put an adequate amount of hand sanitizer on our hands. We had masks on & everything.
This is a great little shop for outdoor adventure items. They have a good selection of mountaineering items such as cams, rope, etc. The staff here were extremely friendly and helpful with information on the pros and cons of different equipment.Their prices are reasonable but they had a sale going on with great prices when I was there! Going back right before I leave so I can get some outerwear and other gear.
We stopped by here today to get hiking shoes. The salesperson, Jared, was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and showed us several pairs that he thought would work best for us. The store is inviting and has a lot of great products for outdoor activities. Highly recommend!!
Love this place! Employees are extremely helpful and professional, along with being knowledgeable!I buy most of my snowmobile cold weather gear here.Check it out!!
Quite disappointed in the staff. I was sent to this store to gather more information about climbs in the tetons from the Jenny lake ranger station. The gentleman behind the counter was off putting, and told me that I needed to go inside the park and ask the ranger stations. When I said, we did and they sent us here he scoffed and pointed to the visitors center nearby and said then thats what the visitor canter is for. I thanked him for his time, apparently wasting it by trying to get information from a climbing shop. If they didnt know, the least they could do was say so. The attitude was quite uncalled for. I simply wanted to know a little bit of information.
Really good store for gears!! Really friendly staff and very nice suggestion! Plus the price is adequate. Varieties of choices!! Really recommended come to this store.
Went there a few days ago 10 min before close. Picked out a sleeping bag 3 min before close. I asked to see one of them rolled up so I can see how big it is when packed up. He said they were downstairs and he’d have to go down to get one and it wasn’t enough time to pack up the one upstairs on the hanger that I was looking at. Said I should come back tomorrow. Lazy. I would have been walking out the door before close if he would just have walked down and gotten a new one for me to see and carry to the register.
Wade in the ski repair shop fixed my binding on a Sunday afternoon with no wait so that I could ski the next day. He gave me a nice tutorial on proper binding adjustment as well. He was very knowledgeable. I will go to Teton Mountaineering every time. Fantastic service!!!!!
No idea why some of these reviews have to do with their COVID practices, it’s a no brainer that they would require a mask (everyone in town does) and hand sanitizer to protect the people working their who have to be exposed to all of the tourists. I want to like this place so bad but they make it so hard. Almost everyone who works there seems to be really inexperienced and not local, with little to no knowledge of gear or anything in GTNP/Wind River Range related to climbing except for a few very basic hikes. Their was an older gentlemen who seemed like he could be helpful but was disinterested and just plain weird to be honest. It has so much potential to be a cool spot where locals and people passing through could meet, but overall the vibe in their is very strange.
Awesome place. Went in for advice on how to repair my cracked ski boot for the balance of my ski trip, very knowledgeable guy gave me an old boot shell and a suggestion for binding it together. VERY HAPPY. Also picked up a great tip for some hot springs in Idaho. Thanks so much!
Very well stocked
Sold me Bear spray
Great place for hiking gear and supplies. Very friendly and helpful staff
Very expensive.
They couldn’t help me out but they tried their best. And made suggestions for me to visit other businesses that maybe could help.
Friendly staff, huge selection and decent prices. I bought a nice Patagonia beanie for $30. Very nice place.
A really cool shop and the people are nice. We bought a really cool bumper sticker and tries on some pants.
A bit expensive but they have a great selection and the staff is super nice
Great gear and fantastic advice on where to hike. I would not consider any place else.
Very knowledgeable workers. They really tried to help. Just wish they had more of a light weight boot selection.
These folks are super knowledgeable and just the nicest. Helped me at crazy affordable prices with a boot fit. I have also bought climbing gear and discount off-season clothing from them, all with great success. Thank you! This will definitely continue to be my go-to spot in town.
Really wanted to like this place but the employees were rude and tried to force me to wear a mask. No thank you, happy to shop somewhere else. So ridiculous guys.
I love outdoor gear and especially PrAna. The staff was super helpful and kind. One of my favorite shops in Jackson. Would go back instantly if I am passing through again.
The staff were so knowledgeable and kind and helped outfit us for a camping adventure in the Tetons. They didn’t upsell and even suggested purchases at neighboring stores to save money (advice we didn’t take because we really liked their store!)We used our purchases for our entire trip and will definitely be returning next year!
The staff were very helpful getting me into some alpine touring boot demos. I am totally new to this gear, and they helped me set up the bindings on my newly acquired skis to work with their demo boots. The two guys who helped me were patient and really knew their stuff. Highly recommend.
I had a great experience at Teton Mountaineering! They quickly fixed my backcountry binding and were such a pleasure to work with.
Fantastic local shop with great information on where to go. Stopped in for snowshoe advice and ended up going on a hike instead. They rent cross country skiing and snowshoes. They also have a great selection of reasonable priced hard and soft outdoors equipment.
Have variety that other mountain clothing stores dont have.
Decades of institutional knowledge about climbing the Tetons and gear. A great place to browse, buy and chat
Good stuff in Jackson Hole
Limited selection of key products from a reputable brand. Some staff members were inattentive (not laid back) and appeared to have limited gear knowledge and or inexperienced. I excepted more from a well known and long established shop. My experience here in 96 was great. Maybe my expectations were too high, especially considering how much things have changed in the world of climbing since then.
Not really informative about their gear and different prices per color. Odd and not helpful. Anyhow, if they can help you find the right gear then all the better. Good luck and generally avoid would be recommended.
I found some trail running shoes here that I was having trouble finding in stores elsewhere. Price was in line with online retailers. The staff was helpful. I didnt buy anything else but there was a good selection of outdoor gear available.
Very helpful staff and great gear that will last years. Most of the staff either hike, camp, climb, kayak. They know what works best!
Good spot, bought a couple packs there that I still have over ten years later, knowledgeable staff.
Very nice store right downtown. They do offer snow shoe rentals for about $10 which was much needed in mid March
Favorite place to buy downhill, backcountry gear.
Theyre always knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. Store is reliably well stocked.
Expansive selection, helpful staff and right off the square makes this one of the first places I stop for any gear needs.
Great place for all your outdoor needs! The staff are really amazing and helpful if you’re not sure what you’re looking for.
Great store for outerwear and outdoor recreational activities. They usually have great sales towards the end of the ski season.
Great selection, clean store, friendly employees!
Good staff, helpful tips on gear and skiing around town. Good selection with plenty off deals. Dont miss the sales loft!
Teton Mountaineering is one of my if not my favorite small sporting goods stores. The staff is super knowledgeable, some have climbed the Grand and they are very laid back so dont be shy or feel stupid to ask a question if you are just starting out. They love helping newbies get equipped for the outdoors. I couldnt make a decision about hiking poles so I went and talked to a staff member just to talk pros and cons. When you have someone to talk it out with it helps to make your decision. This place is two stories and has a great selection. They stand by their products if they break or are defective thats why I like to buy from them you have peace of mind in what you are buying.Go check them out, ask questions and enjoy the outdoors with quality equipment.
Cool outdoors store with some authentic mountaineering gear. Recommend this place in early January because they have a big sale to get rid of stock for the new year.
Amazing staff, decent prices, and great variety of gear. One could spent hours in here just looking at the evolution of climbing and mountaineering.
Helpful, friendly, great selection and good prices
My favorite mountaineering store in the world. Rockstar staff, great selection and prices.
Cool shop. Healthy selection of top brands.
Had ski resort prices
Great store to rent cross-country skis or snowshoes! Very helpful, friendly staff.
Shopping here was a great experience. The regular prices were reasonable, and the sale prices were even better. Every employee who saw us said hello and asked if we needed anything (except the grumpy looking blonde girl at the climbing shoes counter, but theres one in every crowd). This place is worth a stop for your outdoor needs.
Great staff. Fair prices on quality gear.
Great mountaineering store - has everything you need! 🤘
Ya its awesome but expensive. Sometimes has pretty sweet deals on off season clothes and I bought a thin mammut climbing rope here for 35% off and it was a good deal. They got everything including all your climbing needs. Most stuff is just the regular price youd find at REI. Great ski selection, cams and nice brands
Very helpful experienced staff. Good place to go to get local info for mountaineering, climbing and backpacking.
Went in for a rear carriage adjustment on my Dynafit bindings, this involves turning a screw with a star bit. Before even looking at my binding I was asked to fill out a shop form and told it would take at least a day if not two. I didn’t have a screw driver so I couldn’t adjust them myself. I ran over to Skinny Skis down the street, which was very busy at the time. They took them into the back and returned within two minutes and with a smile.
Best place for equipment in town, have purchased many items that have help on several types of trips. Will always shop here in the future.
Teton mountaineering was very cool store. They had plenty of rock climbing and Hiking stuff. They had atleast five different brands of backpacks for hiking including Camelback and osprey. It was a very distinct store and a specific for climbing, rock climbing and Hiking.
Good shop with anything you may need buy or rent!! Definitely should stop in!
Awesome store always visit when we are in JH super friendly and knowledgeable staff
Great hiking/climbing/apparel store right in the heart of Jackson.
Visited them from out of town, they are knowledgeable locals and have great gear...support local!
Very helpful people here!
Everything you could need or want. Love the old gear an photos on the walls.
Great selection
One of my favorite outdoor goods shop.
Great store for all your back packing needs, camping needs, best clothes and top notch customer service.
Great gear. Great store. Great service.
Went in with the intent of buying a new back pack, staff was friendly and helped me find exactly what I needed. Selection in the store is surprisingly good, if you need some outdoor gear they will be able to help you.
Great outdoor shop with a wide selection of gear for all seasons. Prices were reasonable so I picked up an Osprey Stratos daypack and my wife picked up a wool cap and fleece pants to fend off the cold on our recent visit to Jackson Hole. Staff was very friendly and helped guide us to what we were looking for.
Staff is great and willingly helpful.
Nice staff and plenty of knowledge about outdoor gear including climbing and skiing
Great friendly staff.
Great products for hiking, mountaineering, running, and more.
Awesome place to shop. Very helpful staff with great product knowledge.
Very helpful, not pushy
Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about ski rentals (and snowshoes).
This is the first review I think I have ever written. This store has great merchandise. I could buy virtually all my casual wear there. However, I cant help feeling duped by the prices of the binoculars and I feel I must warn others. I ALMOST paid $225 for a pair of Celestron Nature 10x42 binoculars that I luckily learned can be bought on Amazon for $107 and even on the Celestron website for $149! Instead I knowingly but out of desperation before heading to Yellowstone paid $54 for a Celestron Nature10x25 monocular that can be bought regular price on Amazon and B&H for $29 and at most from REI for $39. Are these mismarked or intentionally overpriced for unsuspecting tourists? I understand upcharging in tourist destinations, but by twice as much or more? That seems grossly unfair.
