PJ provided excellent customer service and welcomed me to the neighborhood which I really appreciated. He was very knowledgeable and eager to share / spread the wealth. I only deducted 1 star because the pricing is on the higher end of what Ive seen. Probably competitive for the area though. They have lots of bikes and parts and accessories to choose from! Ill definitely be back.

I was a little hesitant on getting my bike serviced at Grove St Bicycles since I didn’t purchase it from here. They recommended the package 1 for $90. It rides and looks like new again. I will be coming back for the package 2 once I put more miles on it. Thanks Grove St Bicycles!

I cant say enough good things about Grove Street Bicycles. Everyone at the shop is super helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I was looking for a gravel bike for everyday riding and bikepacking. The Giant Revolt Advanced 2 was the best recommendation that checked all the boxes for me. They made sure I was comfortable on the bike and that everything fit well. Service has been outstanding and the help I received to accessorize the bike when I was ready to put some serious miles on it has been the best. I bought my bike here a few years back and have been in a handful of times for services. I love the free tune up for life deal and use it every spring. Ive had a few flats and the guys will fix it on the spot as a walk in while I wait. Very friendly and helpful and super convenient location.

Daniel Kofi Morteh at Grove Street Bicycles just sold me two awesome hybrid bikes. Cant wait to use them on the gravel roads of Acacia National Park. They ride super well here in Jersey City. Stopped in to get some info on bikes, since Ive been thinking about investing in one for a while now. The person I spoke to was very polite and courteous, answering all my questions with a smile. As I looked around the shop, I noticed it was tidy and organized. I was a little overwhelmed at the time to make a purchase, but I might just go back to Grove Street Bicycle when I cam ready. Nice atmosphere, nice people, highly recommend.

My bike needed a tune-up a while ago but they wouldnt schedule one for me. The air in my tire was low and my pump was broken so I figured, if no tune-up, let me at least get a pump. The staff helped me very begrudgingly.They get two stars because in the end I did leave with a nice little pump that lives in my paneer.Im a nice, respectful and mellow customer. I resent places that require me to act like a prima donna in order to get service.

I decided to go with the complete tune up package.I was told it might take 2 weeks for the bike to be done due to the busy summer, however, it winded up to be 2 days for the bike to be done. Went in two weeks ago on a Thursday night and was helped by Zachary. He was kind, patient and answered every question we had. It’s hard to use the term bike shop at a place like this that offers an experience similar to a dealership. I’ve purchased (2) bikes from this establishment along with a few visits for minor adjustments and I’ve left very satisfied. I can go on all day about their great customer service,knowledge and experience and also bicycle selection but in a nutshell I’ll just say I really like how this place does business.

I have been into bikes since 1987 when I bought my first high end bike. Of all the bike shops I have ever been to in my time this one is by far the best. Great guys to deal with, very helpful to me and the dozen or so friends and family I have sent there. Cant beat the price, service and advise with a smile. Since July of 2016 I personally have bought 4 bikes from them. Lets just say I plan on buying more.

I’ve bought 2 kids bikes there and I was told by an employee that I shouldn’t expect good service because “those are the cheapest bikes we sell.” I’m not surprised by the many negative reviews. The staff is surly and arrogant and I’ve been going there for 7 years. I guess that’s not long enough.

I came in earlier today to buy some shoes and cleats, and was promptly assisted by a friendly salesman who got us in and out very quickly. I later ran into some issues installing bike pedals I had received elsewhere and brought them in to the shop later on where another individual fixed them for me. They also wound up hooking me up with a set of used SPDs for my stationary bike which was totally over the top customer service. Great experience overall!

Older review ( early 2018 ) Surely that after a few months of studying this is the best way and place to find the perfect bike for your ride, totally confident of all the attention and tips there is no way to stop sharing my great experience that I had with Giant Jersey City professionals!Today 08/2020 unfortunately for the second and last time after Rob administration was gone, I had experienced very badly costumer service, my chain was broke and i stopped by Giant Grove stree. the employees until they didn’t answer badly, the problem was the manager who besides constantly appearing clearly doesn’t care the clients so much, I made the mistake of asking how is the procedure to rent an electric bike and he didn’t even pay attention to me go online !!! I was there to try to make a change of my current bike for a newer one more than a simple concert as I always did for the last 3 years, definitely GIANT bikes lost a client, no matter how much quality your brand represents I dont feel comfortable in to know that every time I need to enter a store I will be obliged to feel a totally demotivating environment !!!

Summary:Came in with two issues. Staff were initially nice and accommodating. BOTH issues persisted despite being charged a significant amount ( they did do a good bottom bracket adjustment but didnt resolve the two complaints I came for). Asked for a reexamination but got a half hearted attempt before they blamed the issues on my bike components. They issued a very small partial refund. I went back home and diagnosed both issues MYSELF despite my inexperience. One issue was missed wheel damage!Details:- I recently started a project on an old trek bike. I changed the chainset to a triple, put a mountain bike rear derailleur, a new chain, new cassette, and cleaned all other parts. On my first ride I noted a loss of drive-train sensation intermittently and ended up crashing. On my way back I also noticed a rhythmic brake rubbing noise from the front breaks. It was time for the Professionals..-On first meeting they were really nice and took time to listen to my issue and recent work. They suggested we start with a BB adjustment, derailleur adjustment, and brake caliper change and reassess results after.- I come back the next day after I was told my bike was ready. I paid but didnt get a paper receipt with the guy saying he printed it out wrong. Whatever so long as the bike is fixed but I quickly notice that BOTH ISSUES PERSISTED.- I came back and pointed out that both issues persisted. They took my bike to the back, spun it on the stand and made adjustments for 5 minutes before asking me to try again. Obviously nothing changed and I pointed again to the brakes saying something was wrong. They brushed it off as noise from the rain despite me insisting that its the same noise I had the day prior when it wasnt raining and that their pad change didnt resolve it. He seemed uninterested in re-examining or figuring out the brakes issue. Instead he points out that I had several different parts on my bike and went on to tell me that they were incompatible because mountain bike derailleurs dont work with road bike equipment. I quickly told him that this wasnt true, that it may be the case with 10 speed bikes because MTB have different pull ratios but 9 speed MTB derailleurs such as the one I had installed are known to work with a road 9 speed drivetrain. He said there was nothing more they can offer and that it was an issue with my setup and nothing else was wrong. I told him I just payed a large sum and the issue isnt fixed maybe they need to try and fix it. The response was we can refund you but you cant come back again if we do. Its not what I had wanted at all actually. What I did want was ATTENTION. More time re-examining a bike you clearly failed to fix instead of blaming the parts when we both knew the parts were compatible. I was given a partial refund, went home, and fixed it myself because those PROS couldnt/ didnt want to invest the time.- The annoying thing is that me, an amature cyclist with minimal mechanical experience diagnosed both issues in a short period. When spinning the crank arms I observed the chain behaviour and noticed that there were specific chain links and especially the quick-link that were making noise and triggering instability as they sat on the sprockets. I changed the quick-link first and it helped a lot. New chain was on the next day and the drive-train issue was completely sorted.- Now that brake rubbing noise that they brushed off... that they changed brake calipers for without any benefit... that they wouldnt re-examine after me pointing it out because its just the rain?. Well... when I examined the rim brake surface there was obvious damage causing the noise. THEY COMPLETELY MISSED IT! Perhaps it happens despite how obvious this looks ( see pic) and I would excuse it. But theres no excuse when you fail to re-examine despite the customer pointing out multiple times that the issue persisted. When I trust you w/ my bike, I am also trusting u w/ my safety...

Update: had another great last minute experience and very thankful to have Grove Street Bicycles in my community!Gave my bike a great last minute tune up today right before closing - very helpful!

Went to get a bike lock and get some service on the headset/get some air in the tires. Well cant get air in the tires and cant get the headset serviced because its a non Giant branded E-bike... Why isnt this just called Giant Only Bikes, just buy your accessories online. No reason to give someone money if they wont even service your bike (I didnt even ask them to touch the powertrain of the bike!).

They have everything you need or think you need. They have everything you want or think you want and everything you didnt know you wanted.Their service is fantastic despite being Loaded sometimes. You can show up and regardless of how long a line they might have theyll definitely approach you and gauge your needs and prioritize every customer differently based on their needs.Their service and gear isnt overpriced but its not the cheapest. That being said it is very well priced for the professional services they offer.Theyll talk to you one to one, mano a mano, face with mask to face with mask, and meet all your needs and more. Theyll talk you through the whole process regardless of how complicated it might feel to you, they have your back. Their attention to detail is also superb.You wont notice all of these right off the bat or maybe you will, but its ingrained into their service to the point where you dont notice it. The subtly of it all hints at how honed they are to their craft.

I dont trust anybody with my bike. Everybodys friendly family friendly They take their time and they treat my machine with care. I dont want a rush job in and out the door. When I leave Im satisfied 1 billion percent. There is no place around these parts like Grove Street bicycles

Great Bike Shop with good quality bikes. But the customer care could be improved a bit. The rental bikes could be maintained a little better by adjusting the gear change, lubricate the chain and by providing a repair set for flat tire ( I’ve seen at least five riders during the day with flat’s along the road) and an allen key to adjust the saddle height for exact position after a while on the bike. Hint: bring your own repair and key set!!

I took my bicycle to Grove Street Bicycles for repair, and I left it in their care after I was told that the cost would be $245.70 and was given a receipt in that amount. I was also promised that if, during the course of the repairs, they discovered that something else was needed, that I would be called so that we could discuss the matter before they proceeded with the repairs.When I returned to pick up the bicycle on 04/05/21, I was unhappy to learn for the first time that I was expected to pay them $50 more than the quoted price because they had discovered that the bicycle also needed a new tire and a hanger, and they had taken it upon themselves to order and install these parts without first consulting me as they had promised. The staff member with whom I was dealing was courteous and explained that he was giving me a 15% discount on the parts involved. I was mollified although still annoyed, and I thanked him. He then handed the receipt to the employee at the computer. I know theres a specific law for car repairs which says that they need permission to do what they did with my bike (not sure if it works the same here -- probably so). And even without that law, one party cant unilaterally change the agreement and bind you to it. At any rate, I decided to let it go.This employee, whose name I believe to be Ceferino, since that’s the name on the receipt, rang it up and said, “Your total is three hundred fifty.” I, of course, was not at all happy, because I couldn’t understand how the price had jumped an extra $50. After all, I was supposed to be getting a discount, and taxes couldn’t be that exorbitant. At that point, the first (polite/professional) employee joined the conversation and explained that the bill was not three hundred fifty, but rather three hundred and fifty cents. Ceferino, however, seemed to be infuriated and began walking in circles, as if barely able to contain his anger. The other employee tried to calm him down, gently tapping him on his chest, as if to say, “Take it easy.” I asked Ceferino if he were all right, and he exploded, shouting that he had explicitly said “three hundred and fifty cents.” I explained that this was not what I had heard, and then he altered his story, saying that he had said “three hundred,” and then paused, before continuing with “and fifty.” At this point, the first employee tried to diffuse the situation by saying that it was all just a misunderstanding. I was willing to let it go at that, and I paid, but Ceferino was not willing to let it go. He continued to argue at the top of his lungs, while asking me if I’m okay this time. I grabbed my bike and got ready to leave, saying that he needed a course in anger management and that I was going to post a review online about the incident. At this point, he literally chased me out of the building, screaming, “You wanna come for me, bro?”I certainly will never be doing business with this establishment again, and I strongly recommend that anyone who reads this review also avoid this place. Up until this incident, I had been a customer of theirs for many years and had found their employees to be knowledgeable and courteous. Clearly, their customer service has gone downhill (I didnt know, I moved away from the area a couple of years ago). It was disappointing to learn that they do repairs without first informing the customer and obtaining their consent to the new charges. But to then be screamed at and assaulted by an employee for questioning the bill is absolutely unacceptable. I could tell by the way the other employees gathered around him, as if to hold him back, that they were familiar with his explosive temper, and it would not surprise me to learn that there have been other incidents of this kind with other customers. So all I can say to anyone thinking of going to Grove Street Bicycles is, “Be warned!”p.s. sorry about the terrible screenshot of the receipts. They got all crumbled up on my way back home.

Ive lived in Jersey City long enough to remember when Grove St Bikes was up those narrow stairs, in the shop around the corner from its current location. And when I brought my bike over from England I had them service it. They didnt even notice that a couple of teeth had been broken off my chain ring in transit. All in all, it wasnt quite the quality of inspection Id hoped for. Now, a little while later, I took my beloved bicycle in for a bit more work only to find upon collection that not everything had been done. Yes, I know theyre *very* busy right now...and stock is in short supply. But somehow, when I inquired, they suddenly seemed to be able to find parts that would fit and completed an improvised solution while I waited (I was only supposed to be collecting it). Plus of course, they only stock *one* brand of bike bits, so if you need something made by a different manufacturer, you could be out of luck. In short, the service in the shop is usually really good – but the mechanics at the back seem half-hearted about their work. And theres clearly no communication. This will be the last time I take my bike there...even if means having to travel greater distance now.

BEST BIKE SHOP AROUND!I live in Fort Lee, NJ - 13 miles away from Jersey City and Grove Street Bicycles. I pass (at least) seven (7) bike shops along the way to GSB. All of them are very good...but, they just cant compare to the service and care that I get from GSB! They have a nice selection of bikes for every level of rider and will take the time to make sure you get the bike thats right for you. Ive purchased three (3) bikes: 2 Contends,(a 2018 and a 2020) and a 2020 Defy Advanced Pro, G-Force. They keep my bikes tuned up and in tip-top condition!Everyone there, from owner, Rodney, to his expert bike mechanics, and his entire staff, are GREAT PEOPLE! The most terrible and disgusting experience I got is from the Grove bike. they are the people who destroy the name of the New Yorkers. except one employee all other people including the manager were incompetent and unprofessional.

These guys are awesome!! Bought my son a bike for his 7th birthday here, and I will never buy a bike anywhere else. Very friendly staff. Rob was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. I actually called to place the order for my sons birthday only a couple days before his actual birthday, and they werent sure if theyd be able to get it in time. But Rob followed up multiple times to make sure it would get delivered to the shop, and he kept me updated the entire time. We got the bike, and my son loved it! He was a little intimidated at first because his last bike was more of a cheaper kids bike we bought at Target, and this one seemed much fancier (his word). But he got the hang of it in no time, and has since told me this bike is much better than his last one. I would definitely recommend these guys, and Im sure Ill be back before long!

I arrived with my bike after checking the website for bike tire repair. When I arrived, they abruptly said that they don’t service electric bikes and there was no mention of that on the website. I just needed air in my tire.

The support from Grove Street Bicycles changed overtime since moving to this new location. My first purchasing experience at the original store location was great. The sales associate was supportive in helping me select the perfect bike. Fast forward to my recent visit, the sales associate did not seem interested and spoke to me like a $1000 bike was out of my price range. I was expecting to pay over $1000 for a high-end bike. However, I felt like I was judged and pushed to the side. I guess I didnt fit the profile of a customer that would purchase a high-end bike. Based on a few recent reviews. I am not the only one that experienced this type of treatment. There is no excuse for this treatment in our community. Please do away with the template matching and profiling.

Customer service was great! I rented a bicycle and hadn’t rode in years. Greg was very helpful and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. I’d definitely come again!

Horrible customer service. Called for isp spacers for my bike. They took my info and Sid they would call me back. They never called me back I called again they said the giant guy will be here tomm. I called again he said he would get back to me. 2 weeks past and never a call! I’m calling a giant retailer and they are telling me to call giant direct

I am not the type to leave reviews at all, Ive probably written 2 others in my lifetime. This bike shop is a decent trip for me - but they are the most patient and hardworking group, especially during these tough times! Thank you to the staff. Worth the trip. After your bike is fixed, ride over to Liberty State Park. It is worth it.

Great experience! I wasnt really sure about what bike would suit my needs but the knowledgeable staff helped me through the entire process! Great job guys no pressure sale! Coming bacvk next weekend to pick one out for my wife! Thanks again.

Friendly staff, excellent service! Went there looking for my first bike, and Lovelisa was so patient and helpful. Because of her great customer service, I was able to take home my very first real adult bike that same day, which is a rarity during these crazy times. Ive found my new cycling home! Would recommend this store also for rentals to go around the city. They sell Giant/Liv brands.

The old man that works here is so rude and unprofessional not sure how they have any customers who have children, we spent an hour inside and were about to purchase two bikes for our children ( the bikes were sized for them to fit and added training wheels ) until this old man started to yell at us that our children weren’t allowed to sit or ride on the bike we were about to purchaseNeedless to say we left and they lost customers and money, good luck staying open

Stopped by the other day to get air in my tires and was able to learn from Seth how to pump them myself ! Really helpful and they have air pumps outside to use!!!

I popped in today, desperately seeking replacements for my suddenly deceased SPD shoes, and Daniel set me up with the perfect pair in minutes to get me back in the saddle. They’re a dashing blue hue, so he and Lovelisa also helped me find a few other winter roadie items to match! 👏🕺✨🎉🚲🙂

Grove Street is awesome. Customer service is on point and the guys are very knowledgeable about the business. Special shoutout to Greg. Got my bike built in one day during the madness and they were extremely busy. Service was so good my bought a bike the following month. Keep up the good work guys.

Nice brand, the rest same as you will find anywhere absolute lack of knowledge in specific details on most staff.A high desire to send you jumping to amazon, by having an online system that takes tells you order is ready, when in fact for them means ready to order the item to receive and then once in their hands they will call you for you to pick up. Al is fine expect is not 1994 anymore.🤷‍♂️The store is nice.Go if you know what you want.Minor repairs is ok.

Top notch service at a very reasonable price. I have 4 different bike types from various eras and the staff at Grove are extremely knowledgeable and able to service all of them. My new favourite bike store.

I have had the absolute worst experience dealing with the people here.I ordered a bike that was in stock online. I paid a good amount of money for it, I got an email that my order was received.The next day, I kept calling and calling all day, I texted, I emailed. No response.At the end of the day, 10 minutes before closing I was lucky enough that someone actually picked up the phone and told me that the bike is not in stock anymore. They will provide a refund. It took 2 weeks to get the refund, which is fine, sometimes banks take longer processing but when I tried to call them to find out, AGAIN, no answer on the phone.I was able to buy my bike from a store that is an hour away but I was treated there like an actual customer. Although, these guys are 10 mins away, I would never step foot in their establishment.

There aren’t enough great things I can say about Grove Street Bicycles. My very picky 10 year old needed a new bike as she’s growing fast. no matter where we went nothing felt comfortable to her. we then went to grove street, they were able to get her exactly what she wanted, they measured her, changed the handle bars to the ones she wanted, added a couple of accessories she wanted and voila, a happy 10 year old. The customer service was outstanding, questions answered, not to mention they dealt with that 10 year old picky girly attitude in such a great manner! They are awesome I’m so grateful for the help! Repeat customer for sure as I may be in the market for a new bike myself.

Was hesitant to take a Canyon in for tuning but the guys were very courteous and professional.

Nobodys perfect but this place comes close. Kevin helped my son and I with a simple flat in less than 5 minutes. In and back out on the road. The brand so far has been dependable but the customer service is truly the reason my family and I keep going back. My recent experience with Grove is that they care about their customers. Prices are fair and their repair work is spot-on. Eddie is a great listener and knows his stuff. Their shop looks modern and inviting, not cramped or stuffy. A few times they were jammed with customers and I had to wait, but still worth it.
