Shop not kept clean. Sell expired items.Green leaves and veggies are not always fresh. Rarely get them fresh.
We have better Indian options nearby. These guys are very cheap, so if you see free jilebi maker with jilebi pack, they will remove from pack and tell you that it didnt come with pack. There are many more examples, whereas other nearby indian stores will have same item with that free item like jilebi maker in this case.So simple I would suggest dont blindly go with these guys when you have better options nearby.
Compaee to patel brothers. This shop having more space to walk with trolly. Most of the indian items available heee and no parking space.
Whenever we visit journal Square, this is our go to place for buying vegetables. The veggies are really fresh compared to all other Indian grocery stores. You can buy almost everything here in terms of Indian groceries..
Expired products + dirty place. JC authority should check this store frequently
Great grocery store for Indian/Asian grocery and fresh vegetables and fruits
They sell the expired products…A few days back I got a pack of Black Chana from there and it was blemished (white dry spots)…I thought maybe only the packet I bought was bad… But, then I went to return it today and they said we don’t do returns… I checked the whole selection, Almost every packet of black chana was bad and blemished…Such a shame that there are no inspections being conducted on these stores…Glad that they did not refund and returned my packet, I can now use that to file a complaint …
I have gone here several times.. always get all Indian vegetables and normally very fresh except when you go towards closing, you will not find fresh items.. always find whatever you need for groceries here.
Good for grocery shopping. The only thing that needs a little bit of attention from management is the cleanliness of the shop.
I love this store and have been a customer for many years. I usually come here to buy spices and basmati rice as well as any other ingredients I may need for an Indian recipe I am trying to make. I am not from India, and so I occasionally find the selection overwhelming. I enjoy looking through the shelves though and have never really asked anyone for help. I dont know how helpful they would be to someone with a lot of questions. My only real complaint is that they do not have dedicated parking for their store. If you park far away and end up buying a lot of stuff, it may be difficult to carry it all to your vehicle. Otherwise, I would rate the store even higher.
Nice Indian store with almost everything but prices are sometimes high as compared to some nearby Indian store. Overall good store.
You get a good variety of Indian brands and price is comparatively reasonable than nearby indian grocery stores.
Good indian grocery store with indian vegetables, pickles, frozen parathas and masalas. The only problem is they do not write the price on all items and customers has to guess the price. They charge for plastic bags, so better carry a few empty bags when you visit.
U will find everything! Only thing is too crowded! They should think about expanding the shop size if possible.
Dirty as always. Place is run by some miser group which prefers burning people inside the store on a hot summer day, to turning on their air conditioning. The staff are rude and slackers who just leave the billing counter for 10s of minutes and run to rule their dirty empire.
Nice Indian store to buy groceries and stuff! Cheap and reasonable options, their roti’s / frozen breads are amazing! You won’t miss home at all, variety of options! Good for students living around this area!
Great store, but parking is tough around here. Took away one star for that issue alone. While their spice selection might not be as complete as Kalustyans they have quite a lot, and their prices seem to be just as good if not better.
Good place to have all Indian groceries under one roof. Mostly all vegetables Available in fresh condition. Available kitchen appliances make this place preferable.
Apna Bazaar is probably the best Indian grocery or convenience store on the Indian street in Journal square area. They offer all kinds of items, including fresh produce, all kinds of Indian pantry items, Indian snacks and also wide variety of items at the frozen aisle. The pricing of most items is pretty reasonable, place is kept decently clean and can get crowded during weekends or late evenings.I regularly attend this store with my roommates to do our groceries especially for the freshness and choice of vegetables they offer, which is much better than what we observed at Patel. However the quality of few of the items such as ground spice powders, pulses and lentils isnt so great. There have been instances when I found stones in Rajma (Kidney bean) or the color of Dhaniya (Corriander) powder is too different from a packet of the same next to it. The quality and consistency of such products is often below average. I would recommend people to buy branded items instead.During late evenings or weekends, when the shop is too crowded, it becomes difficult to navigate around the store with your trolleys and you may often have to wait for a couple of minutes for the trolleys, until someone comes and returns one outside the store.Overall, given the choice of Indian stores in the area, its one of the better ones. Highly recommended for the fresh produce, but be mindful of the quality of packed products like lentils and pulses.
One of the busiest Indian grocery store in Jersey cit, very convenient for walkers, easy to access, reasonable and competitive prices. Hard to find parking but still can park next street which is good option to park and shop.
This was my first time in the store. I’m not Indian and wasn’t familiar with their products. I was making a specific dish that required a specific spice. The store merchants were very helpful and showed me exactly what I needed. I was extremely happy with the store, their products and especially their hard workers. I now know where to go for my special needs. Very satisfied customer.
Can find many items in one roof. Place is congested and dirty. They do sell many expired products. I never buy sweets or fruits here. Always check expire date and bill
Like this place prices are reasonable and grocery is pretty fresh. The only downside is its little cramped up. You have to wait a lot to move in the store. Asides that all is good they do fulfill customer special order which are not available in store or in other places which is pretty cool.
Apna bazar have wide varieties of indian groceries. Prices are also low as compare to other Indian groceries. Some of the staff at counter are rude and sometimes they overcharge on listed prices and offers. For many items, they dont display the prices. Also you need to be careful at the counter with respect to the quantities & prices of the items purchased otherwise you will be overcharged. But despite of all this, Apna Bazar is value for money.
A little congested but has cheaper prices than other grocery stores in the area.
Great produce esp for indian households. Pity they dont deliver. 👍nice place for snacks etc
You can get variety of Indian items. Beware they usually have some expired products. Also do check your bills. There is one middle aged women who has charged me higher on some products multiple times than the labeled. So do check your bills and items before leaving.
Great place in jersey city for indian grocery. Compared to the stores on Newark Avenue, this store is a little more spacious and therefore has more space to walk. They were open even during the pandemic and had most of the items that I typically buy. Very tidy place comparatively. Nice collection of Indian groceries.
Not bad but parking is problem thats why gave 2 stars, you cant park so cant shop for a long grocery list
No customer service and very bad response from manager ever I got ..
Nice place, fresh veggies.
Plum Tomatoes 🍅 0.79$/lb......chk out....
Very popular with the locals but difficult finding a place to park.
You will 90% of your indian grocery needs here
Mostly clean, staff is less but cooperative, cashier always with smiling face. Quality of vegetables are pretty fresh. Little more expensive.
Best place for Indian grocery and fresh vegetables around Indian street.
Good for indian grocery
This is where we get some vegetables. The bread rolls are cheap 3 rolls for $1. Pretty convenience location though there is no parking. Usually everyone just park on the left street of the store and walk over to shop.
Good store but not much maintained.
Can get Indian grocessaries and household items.. but beware of expired sweets, Broken eggs in shelves..
Could be more cleaner and well maintained but you can get all the Indian stuff you need.
Reasonable price but need a more space.
All in one place for Indian groceries. Price are reasonable and quality is also good
They couldve done better. If the cashier is not going to help bag my groceries the least they could do is wait till I am done bagging before starting the next customers order. I had to ask my wife multiple times if certain items were ours or not.
You can buy every indian stuff here. Very good staff
Nice lady in there...😌
Always have issue with old products
So much vegetables and indian food. My personal favorite.
Great place, good price on many items. Fresh Fruits and Veggies and they always have enough stocked in the Aisles. Jersey City people should visit. You wont be disappointed. Ive read quite a few reviews . Come on people what do you expect from a place that is Well Stocked and with good prices. It will be a bit congested. But, thats okay. Dont complain about that. Place is a Gem. God Bless them
Difficult to comment. Sometimes very good sometimes very bad place to visit.
Typical Indian grocery. They have everything you’re looking for but don’t expect any smiles
Great place for indian grocery
The place is relatively clean and easy to navigate except when its really crowded, it can be a challenge, though customers are cordial and will get out of your way. The foods there are awesome and authentic Indian foods. Just about anything you can get in India, you can find here. Apna Bazar is little India away from India. The prices are reasonable and customer service is very good. Two thumbs up from me. 👍👍
Very good place for all types of Indian grocery
The spices and pickles and sauces are very good. Paneer is always fresh. Never got complaints for strawberries which is not true for other Indian stores here. You also get cricket bats
You get anything and everything you need from an Indian store but should post prices of the items at the racks itself
Recently, jan-2020, they are selling Indian snack (Samosa) which you get 2 for a dollar. These are nice if you would like to have with Tea or coffee. But these are selling fast and based on review, they might increase the price.
Great for essentials n genuine prices
Its close to home and a pretty good Indian market. Theyve got all that ethnic stuff that you cant get in the normie grocery stores. I dont come here for a lot of things but the stuff I do buy, I buy a lot of it. Things like rice, cooking oils, ramen. Yes! Ramen! They have Indian flavored ramen here and Im looking forward to trying it out for lunch. The thing that really grabbed my attention are all the pretty stainless steel and copper serving dishes. They even had a little sectioned tray that Im coming back for. Itll be great as a mess kit for camping.TBH, I dont read any of the languages used in India besides English so I cant vouch for the name brand recognized products. I cant even really tell you what they are! But there was a wide variety of people shopping here on my last visit so they must be doing it right.Ill keep coming back for sure, but I really miss the Chinese/Japanese Asian grocery stores from back home. Im glad this store is here nonetheless.
One of the better Indian grocery stores in the India Square, Newark Avenue area of Jersey City. Store has almost everything Indian one would want, including fresh fruits and vegetables, spices, grains, variety of type of rice and flours, cookies, snack items, lots of frozen ready to eat items and even some pots and utensils.Gets very crowded on weekends. Parking is an issue. But the good thing is the shop is open all 7 days till late at night.
They have a great selection of difficult to find ingredients (Fresh turmeric?! Wow!) And everyday grocery items. Its not a traditional supermarket. It caters to the large South Asian population in this area of New Jersey. But if youre into fantastically fresh exotic ingredients at reasonable prices, this is the place to go.
Got my khatta meetha! 5 stars!
Better than the last one, thanks for having a grocery store here, where we get all our groceries at a very good prices compared to American stores,I wish you have a bigger store??buy a new building??
Good Place that u can get all the asian grocery but price wise a bit higher than other super markets. Asian grocery is not that much expensive as shown up there
You get everything that you need. They are always stocked.
From pooja essentials to normal Indian groceries. Everything can be found here
You get all indian groceries under one roof.
I am never shopping here again. Boycotting this place because of price gouging during a difficult time for people and for mishandling food..today i saw their worker step on food (flour) to fill in the shelfs. They are not only greedy but they are also mishandling food.
Defraud people - Price of items is higher than what is billed Ref Bill No.198 DTD:03/09/2020. it happened last time as well but i let it go, but I must warn others so they dont get cheated. hope the manager will look into it and refund the over charged amount.
If it was more organized and less crowded i would have given it 5 stars. Lots of wonderful and exotic foods can be found here, mostly Indian products.
*New Jersey has declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19, activating the provisions above. 56 § 8-107, et seq. It is illegal to misrepresent the price of goods or take advantage of consumers to a grossly unfair degree. . You are price gouging innocent people during the crisis. Stop it of will see you in court.
Good collection in a small place. You get most of the Indian groceries including regional delicacies in a packed ambience. Cleanliness could improve. Pricing is higher than the big boxes
This is an Indian store, probably youll get many daily Indian grocery items here easily. The only thing i hated it is the place should be more clean and they should try painting the walls bright and try some bright lights and manage things in a way that theres more room to walk around easily. Otherwise, the item are easily available thats why 4 stars, 1 star deducted because of the reasons i stated above.
One of the worst Indian stores has happened many times before when I went to the store it sells bad products with defects. Now during the covid crisis I ordered grocery through factory fresh he gave me all the expired items. I raised the issue with factory fresh team as well. I will try to raise issue with Government authorities as well this is not acceptable. Many times his pulses, grains have bugs in it and then he does not accepts.
You get all Indian grocery here ❤️
It a place where you can get market items
This would be one of the options for Indian grocery needs at and around journal square/jersey city. They have most of the Indian groceries available and well stocked. But, I feel prices are little on the higher side compared to Patels which is in the close vicinity. Location is good as they are bang on the JFK boulevard. All in all, one of the options for Indian Grocery. 👍
Dirty expired food(some food) but a good collection of Indian food!!
Good for greens and groceries. All types of snacks. Missing is house cleaning stuff like detergents and dish washer cakes. Parking not available close by. Lots of Indian eateries close by.
Great place for Indian food and snacks. Nice variety. Reminds me of my home in Kerala. Sometimes theres dust or flies, but that adds character. Those things arent dangerous anyway.
Rude employees. Dirty place. Rotting fruits and vegetables mixed with fresh ones. Punctured packets. Not sure how this place got such a high rating on google reviews. I hope not filled with fake reviews. Will never go back. This is the worst Indian store I visited in USA in 12 years
This place have great variety and its affordable. Its not big but its worth the visit for some produce and the basics. It can get a lil crowded but definitely NOT my worst experience.Id recommend this place for sure.
The staff are liars. Selling old stuff with enough dust on it to say its a mummy. Never ever going back there.
Good place for Indian Grocery. All Indian spices, vegetables and food ingredients available. Neither costly nor cheap. Store is little bit small thats why it get crowded. Overall good Place to do Indian Grocery shopping.
Very dirty place.
Grocery and vegetable store with an Indian touch. Lots of fresh produce. Great supply of spices, flours, and grains needed for Indian cooking. Good range of ready to eat snacks too. Conveniently located near Journal Square transportation hub.
Good Indian groceries, but extremely crowded and especially overpriced items during the pandemic.
Good selection of indian grocery
Good place for spices
The prices are slightly marked up but theres a huge options for groceries
Good place for North Indian grocery you will almost-get all the brands except Deep and Swad. You will get regional items from Maharashtra and Gujrat.Tip: 1. Only place to get Nanak yogurt.Top 2: cash only if less then $10.Tip 3: take your own reusable bag.
This is a typical Indian grocery. Lots of produce in bins, and not being Indian, many things I do not understand. I always wish I had more money and a kitchen to bring stuff home and cook, but alas, I am homeless and do not have either. Its good for drinks, and snacks though, on a budget.
Absolutely indispensable for Indian groceries, right there on JFK blvd saves you the trouble of going into Newark Ave Indian street around the corner. Well lit well stocked
