Great destination if you are looking for all things Indian for your groceries from Indian sweets to bhel mixes, basmati rice, pickles, as well as food such as samosas, biryani, etc.
It’s Indian market. It has non organic and organic groceries. Good selection. It doesnt have a parking lot. Parking can be an issue. They sell some fresh snacks / Appetizers too.Samosa, chutney, vada (vada pave) is good. Pav was not warm and soggy. If you want to try, try samosa or just vada with red dry chutney.
The place is a bit expensive compared to Mortan Williams and Journal Square.. You will find pretty much everything in terms of Indian grocery.. the samosas here are worth trying and really tasty
Very expensive hut they have all spices and indian stiff… but i dont recommend buying veggies…
We do take out from this place often and the Indian food is better than most restaurants in the area. We have also had food catered from here which was again very good. Our favorites are the dal, samosas, aloo/gobi parathas, and my fiancé loves the kadhai chicken and butter chicken.
This Indian Market has so much to offer many varieties if you can think of it they probably have it. The owner and staff are absolutely wonderful people. Oh yeah, they also have a cook on staff and the food smelt delicious. We look forward to ordering from them soon and they handle their own deliveries. Help a local business by ordering directly from them and dont wast money on the delivery service like uber, seemless, etc. Each order you make costs local businesses money go directly to the source.
I always come here to for vada pav. The best in town. Also the groceries are clean here.
Great place for Indian Grocery. You find almost everything that you can get in JSquare stores. Added bonus, they have a deli as well. The store was clean and well arranged. Walkable distance from Newport and Grove St.
You can get most of the Indian Groceries at this place. It is easily located and has street parking outside. We have ordered samosa from this place a few times and we really like it. They also deliver but have a minimum delivery amount. Not sure of the amount though. The store is very clean and is laid out well.
Perfect Newport location for grocery and ordering meals. There is barely an item on menu that is not yummy. Reasonably priced.
This place is not only great for India groceries but has great prepared dishes as well . The food is incredibly tasty and of very high quality. I would highly recommend trying it out !
Excellent variety of Indian groceries in such a small space. Very well managed! And super hygienic.
Costly but good for Indian food and fresh produce
A clean and with a lot of options Indian grocery store in the midst of Newport. I found some rare finds in this place, so should definitely visit it once. They also have Indian snacks and food which tastes delicious.
Fresh veggies, great variety of typical desi food and snacks. Everything on their take out food is absolutely delicious and pocket friendly
Great Indian food available for take out, one of the few rare places in the area that follow instructions if you ask for something to be made mild and non-spicy. Consistently tasty food and snack items - you will find all the standard North Indian food and snack/chat items here.It does not hurt at all that the store also has all essential Indian groceries and veggiesGreat place, highly recommended - two thumbs up!!!!
One of the best Vada Paav and Samosa Paav
Too good for an Indian to get all his kitchen needs including many types of vegetables!I like it personally!
Great place for India groceries and snacks options. They have amazing vadapav, dabeli and great Indian curries. They are right behind Newport mall. They dont deliver, so you have to go to pickup.
Decent selection of Indian groceries and good takeout food. They are a tad expensive than India town, but without the crowd. They dont have parking but there is always space to keep your vehicle around for few minutes.
My first time at Prime food market and such a pleasant experience. The owner Priyanka was very friendly and helpful when i asked a few questions. I was offered a mask since i forgot mine. I was also requested to sanitize my hands. This shows they care about hygiene. I have been going to journal square last couple of years which is far for me and is always too crowded and unorganized. I will definitely switch to Prime now. The grocery options were great, prices are reasonable. The staff was great. I loved my samosa chat - they have a cute and clean food counter. There is also parking which is a plus!! Thanks guys - you really know how to run a good business!
Great choice of South Asian related products. Prices are a bit higher than the general grocery store.
Pro: A grocery store carrying Indian food items.Con: If price label is missing then beware. The price of the item can be 50-66% higher than other stores in the area.Examples:1. A midsized Haagen Dasz ice cream is $5.99 as opposed to $3.99 at Morton Williams and Shoprite.2. A large container of Dahi (Indian yogurt) is $7.49 which you can easily get for $4.99 elsewhere.3. Jersey city has a rule of charging for grocery bags. Other stores charge 10 cents for bags, Prime charges 25 cents. Also, you will not know the price until you have hot the checkout counter as the price was not written.
Small local Indian grocery. Great food. Groceries are slightly marked up when compared to JSQ but thats the price of proximity. Good for catering as well. The owners can be bit arrogant/ rude sometimes but we go there for the food.
Amazing indian food!
They have good selection of indian grocery brands, spices and daals.
Good indian grocery store with reasonable prices
Its a grocery store (fresh produce and miscellaneous items) with a mini restaurant for takeaways only. They have a wide-ranging menu, but what I like the most is their samosas. They make delicious samosas, and I dont miss grabbing a two or three when Im near this place. I think their prices are reasonable too. Not many people know there is a small parking lot behind the store, in case the main street is busy.
Nice Indian grocery store with a small counter for live food. Bit higher on the cost side is what I noticed compared to other Indian stores.Very convenient for people near Newport, Exchange place, Weehawken, Hoboken etc
Good indian food at affordable prices and real clean grocery store
Its an awesome Indian grocery store. They also prepare Indian snacks and food for delivery and takeaway also. It one of the cleanest Indian stores I have seen across the US. Friendly people at the store and always ready to help. Thank you :)
Very nice service, testy quality Indian food & snacks.....!
Great product assortment. Decent prices. You would find most Indian stuff here. Clean and spacious. They have kept a sanitizer once you enter the shop and they remind customers to use it which is good.Tried dabeli which was good. Happy that this is in Newport and dont have to go to Journal square anymore (although the prices there would be lower)Con: No parking
Groceries are not always fresh. You get all indian packed items. Good food service. Nice location and neatly maintained
Best samosa in New Jersey!
Cute Indian grocery store. They prepare Indian snacks too. A 15$ minimum for purchase by credit card. Friendly people at the store and always ready to help.
Almoat everything you would need was available to this store, and leas crowded,Easy shopping it was!
Good Indian grocery available. Also good food for take away. Should try Malai kofta from here.
- Serves almost all Indian grocery varieties- Friendly staff- Live food bar: select chaat items, biryani and some others- Option to call ahead of time to pickup food also available- Minor charge on pay by card if purchase does not exceed $10
Crowded at times, service can be better . Indian groceries are more expensive than Journal Square . Samosas are good .
Best Indian grocery in the neighborhood...
Great spot- parking, not crowded, good selection and really friendly and helpful staff
A small but well-chosen selection of grocery items, plus reasonably priced cooking staples like rice, dry beans, and lentils in the back.
Clean, well lit and well organized isles and good selection of branda. Youll get most of what youd need.
Love the vada pav! ♥️
This review is more relevant for the restaurant inside the store. While you can get authentic Indian food, the owner is very rude and unadjusting. Even the food I would rate 7/10 at best.
I have been going to this place for over three years now even though the guy at the register is & has always been very very rude (I lived with this only cus food is good). They recently messed up an order without onion garlic and when I called to complaint, the first thing I hear from the guy at the register is that I am not the one making things. Then when I said do I need to call the cook separately when placing an order, he changed his mind and says I said I was not in the store n someone else took it. Then when I raised my tone he suddenly started talking in a soft tone calling me Dada(big brother) and the only thing he had to say was I tell the guy who took the order. If you ask me it was a blatant lie and I am pretty sure he took the order. And I am not going here again!
Socially distanced space. Good selection
They’re open later than most stores near Hamilton park and the have good samosas and a pretty good selection of organic items and Indian groceries. But the prices can be inexplicably high and I’ve been overcharged on several occasions. Customer service is far from their priority...
Best Dabeli and Samosa in town! Must visit for street food lovers. It also has regular grocery section, and food buffet options.A neat, cozy place :)
Love the curry leaves here as they are always fresh. The Indian products (sooji, pickle, mukwas, etc) are fine if you dont want to/cant go to Journal Square, where its cheaper. However, the prepared food is not authentic: the biryani is made with Spanish rice and they add a 🍒 to it!
Perfect joint for everything Indian... Samosa and chat especially is absolutely nailed by the cook there... We frequently take out the food from here and for any Indian grocery item its a quick stop.. Recommend to anyone who wants to try Indian good food near Newport
The person at the cash register is extremely rude. Prices are comparatively higher than journal square stores. Store is clean and well organized.
It’s a great store with immense spread of variety - right from the English breakfast tea to the lovely samosas. The takeout food is reasonably priced and delicious! My go-to convenient store in the neighborhood.
It is a good place to order food for parties and not just indian groceries and vegetables. Their Samosas are the best in town!!! Had ordered food for a party of 10. Dal makhni and naan were delicious.
Good- has most grocery items you want esp if you are Indian so super convenient. Bad - pricing is little higher than market but most scary is you must check expiry date for products. Look at the milk I bought today Oct 21 - expired for 12 days and still in the fridge.
Amazing food, great menu, and prices are super reasonable. We order delivery and pick up a few times a month when we cant cook at home. Love that this is here and that is so close to moms home cooked food.
Its a pretty decent Indian Grocery store. It doesnt have Journal Square levels of savings, and it is a relatively small location. Tried their food while i was there. Bit on the tasteless side.
Great place to grab Indian grocery!
Relatively cheap and delicious Indian food pickup/delivery as well as a grocery store. Easy to meet the $10 card minimum as most of their meals are $8!
Groceries are too expensive and staff gawks at shoppers. Location is convenient if you’re in the Newport/Hamilton Park area. I have yet to try the prepared food they serve.
Good for Indian grocery shopping and live their live kitchen - vada pav, dabeli, samosas all are amazing.
Great
Damn good chat
I like Indian chaat items here
Good place for Indian grocery. They also have a food counter inside.
Convenient grocery store and mini deli in Hamilton park area. Particularly great for Indian groceries and food.
Its quite expensive
Great selection of Indian food ingredients and snacks.
Nice and clean to buy Indian grocery. They also have delicious take out options. Very clean compare to JSQ market
A good store for the Indian kitchen grocery, and fruits / vegetables requirement including Packaged ready to cook meals.
Small Indian grocery shop but damn popular for its Indian chat/snacks, Sabjis and Naans. Menu price is above avg, you must try Samosa chaat and Shev puri both tastes absolutely fantastic. One person from staff is little rude but due to food taste I dont want to reduce any star rating. Yes, No parking space.
The place has a lot of options to eat plus a replete grocery store. Its a really good store. However one of the cashier is extremely rude and inconsiderate. Not sure why they dont get rid of him.
We bought idly & dosa batter they are very sour which we can’t eat, I know it happens & tried to let them know through phone but they don’t respond after putting on hold, so that they don’t sell them to other people
I hope this store comes back soon. Its essential.
Comfort indian food and grocery place. Well stocked and not crowded. Also conveniently located.
Best vada pav and dabeli in Newyork-New Jersey area.
Absolutely not returning to this place with extremely rude cashier and limited options, plus the price.
We ordered paneer burji along with other stuff today however we were handed over paneer makhani instead. Its ok its not that big an issue but the point made by prime person at desk was that they didnt make a mistake in taking order instead we ordered makhani. I didnt agree to this, we knew what we were ordering burjee and makhani are way different, one is dry other is sweet gravy that we never order. The point is customer is right in most cases however they didnt accept at all that the mistake is on their side on the ground that they dont make burjee at all. They lost all the points today they gathered in last 5 years on a trivial issue. Also i have been experiencing that their phone orders are many times rude. Not done.
Was able to find all the Indian stuff of my liking
Small, compact store where items are well-placed.
Got many Indian grocery and vegetables here, and price also reasonable
Very tiny selection of food. The old guy at register is EXTREMELY RUDE! How that kind of person can work with the customers? Im not gonna come back there for sure.
Expansive produce and not enough space. Its to shop basic but not for weekly households.
Convenient store for small scale grocery shopping.
Place is good but run by a bunch of idiots. No etiquettes of talking to people, customers take for granted. I wish there was some other grocery in the neighborhood (I guess thats why they dont give a damn)
I came to meet family friends who live in the area and ended up buying tones of Indian food that I have a hard time finding elsewhere. Definitely cheaper as well in comparison to other stores.
You get all the necessary items. Take out food is really good.
PATHETIC place. Bunch of IDIOTS work here and they destroy the fabric of Indian community in the name of running/managing a Grocery store. Not recommended unless you live around this place. Shopkeepers in Journal square area are anyday more polite and honest that these thugs here.
Good food that you can order. For groceries they mostly have whatever you need.
You get all indian grocery and and also freshly made indian food
You can buy Indian grocery and savory here. Should try the Samosa chat
Excellent Indian food. The Dabeli, malai kofta and even yellow daal tastes really good. Staff’s not the friendliest, but one can make do for the food. Definitely will recommend
One stop for all Indian grocery and Spices. You can easily get Indian desserts here.Liked the store.
Extremely rude cashier and limited options. The cashier makes sure that customers dont return to this place with his rudeness !!
