I love Down to Earth Kailua but I feel sorry for other workers that I have to leave a bad review on here just because of a rude lady. I will strike this review out if they change her attitude. She stared at me and didn’t say anything when I entered in the store.I went to a different casher and she was nice but this rude lady looked mad and unwelcoming. Always she was looking around with bad attitude. She kept staring at other customers too. I was very uncomfortable and she didn’t even say anything after I purchased and left the store. I don’t want to go back to because of her.She shouldn’t be in the entrance cashier.

Oh my goodness...if you are a vegetarian, like me, or a vegan...or if you love supporting local...or if organic is your preference...this is a place worth driving to no matter where you are on the island. They have an amazing selection of everything from produce, to groceries, to prepared foods. They also have a huge variety of supplements and natural beauty products. It is even a must stop for tourist gifts because they carry many Hawaiian product lines (chocolates, coffees, honey, hand creams, you name it). I found the cost to be comparable to the other independent markets I’ve frequented on the island. During COVID I believe their dine in options are somewhat limited but they have a large area to enjoy your coffee or meal and hang out, which I also look forward to enjoying in the future!

Went to replenish some essential oils and had questions about the different varieties and Norma was SUPER KNOWLEDGEABLE. She explained where they come from, how they affect certain domestic animals, and even explained their pricing structure. WOW. Had not intended on learning so much at 8AM, but extremely happy I did. Completely recommend this location. Thanks Norma and God bless you.🙂🙂💜💜

Dear DTE: just take all of my money. All of it. You provide me with delicious vegan alternatives for the things that I love and your ready to eat food is SO DELICIOUS! Vegan egg, faken and chz breakfast sandwiches, tofu musubis, vegan burgers and pizza, spring roles with peanut sauce, vegan mac salad.... The list is endless. You have my heart (aka my stomach) and my measly paycheck. Thank you for feeding me.

Nice local Hawaiian grocery store that would be the Hawaiian equivalent to Whole Foods. Nice selection of produce and overall some nice local products, bags for toting groceries home and prepared food products. It was nice to be able to buy local produce and local kombucha during our stay in Kailua. There is a large parking lot as well.

Popped in here to check it out. Since I was the only one in there I didn’t want to be obvious and start taking pictures. It’s has the usuals along with the Hot bar. You know the ready to eat foods that you pay by the pound. The fruits and veggies looked good and fresh. I keep forgetting that they serve no meat products and only the alternatives.

My younger siblings and I came here once on a whim, and we got excited over everything in the store. My sibling bought sodas made with natural cane sugar and enjoyed them. My younger sister walked out with a coconut shell bowl and a bamboo spoon. I wanted to buy goodies too but didnt because I went over budget for the month.

To be honest it was much better at the original location, the quality of the hot/salad bar has definitely gone down, and some of the items they used to carry they no longer do... the sandwiches are still amazing though... and most things havent changed...

Most of the pastry Goods I buy are from down to earth. I know theyre not the most healthy in the world but theyre healthier than what I find at the grocery stores. The ones at the grocery stores are full of chemicals to preserve theyre fresh appearance. I think Im really getting nutrition at down to earth. I especially like Olena Heat, by Hoolono. Its the only place I have found it easily. It helps with mental sharpness and circulation. I take some at the beginning of the day or on my avocado or rice. Its really delicious!

My husband and I discovered Down To Earth a few days before we had to leave Oahu. I wish we had visited earlier. Everyone was so nice and the store is clean and has interesting items. The Amazon Warrior Pitaya bowl was sooooo good. We went back a day later and had the Italian Panini and the Value Menu Bean & Rice burrito. This was some of the best food we had from any restaurant on the island. This is proof that vegetarian meals can be delicious.. I was hoping there would be another location on the Big Island. But there isnt. 🥲 LOVE

Hands down one of my favorite food stores! Amazing organic sandwich and smoothie/juice bar and their staff is genuinely friendly. My friend and I purchased meat in down to earth and decided to eat it in their dining area. Manager came to kick us out because we were offending the vegetarian customers, when there were literally no other people at any of the other tables.Theres a first thing for everything and I dont know if it was a race thing either, couldnt tell but that was the worst excuse Ive heard to remove a CUSTOMER from the premises. You want down to earth stuff? Theres a whole foods in the same shopping area! Check it out!

Down to Earth has kind of a rude tone in general, but we really had an unpleasant time recently when asking if they had kosher section for Passover. The attendant said “you mean like herbs” pronouncing the ‘h’. We explained the kinds of foods we were looking for, she checked with the manager and yelled from the booth “yeah.... we don’t have it” in a way that felt icky and petty.

This year I got to visit Down to Earth Kailua and it was an extremely pleasant experience. The vegan options are impeccable, however the staff is what makes this place so special. I met the Manager Steve and had to tell him myself how impressed I was with the store, it is very well merchandised and has a great selection of items to choose from in deli, grocery, and produce. A special shout out of Ms. Aloha who was so sweet to each time I visited. Mahalo!

Nice, well stocked place. Traffic can be a bear to get to this store, but there is easy parking and very helpful associates. I was looking for flax eggs, and the girl helping me even gave me the recipe. I also was looking for Vog Ease, which is no longer available, but got a suitable substitute. This store does not seem as crowded as the King Street one, in the way of shoppers and store aisles. Does not have the large, hot vegetarian food bar, but a smaller deli. Veggie selection is also smaller.

The person at Kapolei told me they no longer do this but I could ask King Street Branch to order a bag for me. I just called King Street Branch and was told NO, that they couldn’t do this. I have supported Down To Earth for years and am vegan. The dog food at King Street Branch Is too high in fat. I am very, very disappointed.

Down to Earth is an excellent resource for the Oahu vegetarians and those concerned about using sustainable and natural products. Here, they only sell vegetarian foods and have a good selection of products, including packaged and frozen foods, bulk foods, fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Somewhat hidden in the back of the store, they also have natural household products ranging from household cleaning supplies to personal care items.
