Wonderful experience stopping through this cafe on our way from Lincoln to Scottsbluff. The food is homemade, organic and vegetarian-friendly. I enjoyed a hot apple cider, apple and cheese wrap with fennel spread and cup of vegetable soup. The server was great about health measures as well.

Great healthy alternative, had edamame and the Irish stew which was amazing and great tasting, left happy and full. It is on the more expensive side, but very well worth it because it is gluten free and organic. Great water, great coffee. Need more places like this in Kearney! Please come and support!

A little slice of Austin, TX in Kearney, NE! Seriously - you need to try this place. We had veggie pizza, house salad and the Santa Fe wrap. They were all amazing! Plus the atmosphere was wonderful. Repurposed diner tables and artwork for sale on the walls. I felt like I was at a trendy little place on South Congress in Austin!

Wow! I had never been here before and I was helped out right away! They coffee is amazing and i bought 2 things of tea because 1 wasnt enough!! 100 percent recommended!

Unfortunately I cannot share an opinion about the food. My husband and I stopped in at Tru Cafe on our road trip out west. The majority of our eating style is vegetarian and organic. My husband was excited about stopping at Tru Cafe to eat as he was there once before when he was staying in the area for work. He had a positive experience at the time so his excitement was a joy to see. However, we arrived around 10:30am to see what I guess to be a group of local men enjoying coffee and conversation. As we approach the counter we were greeted by an employee or possibly the owner who told us they were no longer serving breakfast and they are busy preparing for lunch time, he then shared that we could come back in 25 minutes for lunch. My husband thought let’s just leave and find something else, but I was hopeful and looking forward to a salad or a wrap. So we meandered throughout the downtown area which had its charm and came back more than 25 minutes later and sat at a table to be approached by the same gentlemen telling us there were several to go orders a head of us and we probably wouldn’t be served for another 35 -45 minutes. As I have eaten yet for the day, looking forward to some wholesome organic healthy lunch options to satisfy me, I was disappointed. My husband apologized for the outcome. Sad that this place was actually a stop on our travel itinerary. If you have the time to wait and you are not hungry this may be a delightful spot. Probably a great place for long conversations, just don’t bank on placing an order at 10:30am and make sure you have plenty of time get lunch.

This is such a neat cafe! The food is a little pricey (my meal was around $14-16), but its delicious!I went with a friend who ordered a chicken alfredo pizza which was absolutely delicious and I got a greek salad with quinoa, which was also really good!This cafe puts an emphasis on all organic/all natural and has vegetarian and vegan options. So, youre getting a good-for-you and good-for-animals meal that tastes fantastic as well!

Well I couldnt say it was good if I didnt try it. Also the old fashion ranks up there with one of the best Ive had!

Fresh, flavorful and friendly! Loved the maple squash salad with goat cheese and chicken. And my kids enjoyed the bison pizza. So nice to have an organic option on the road and worth the extra mile drive off of the interstate.

My chicken salad sandwich was very good. The portions were very small. I have never seen an apple slice cut that thin, pretty sure it sould be called apple slivers, not slice. It had a very nice atmosphere

A very quaint restaurant in downtown Kearney NE that boast of organically made food. The restaurant was clean and very bright with well kept old fashioned table and chairs! Our waiter was nice and made sure to make eye contact with everyone at the table as he told us about the menu. Everything on the menu was made with organic ingredients, so today was my first day trying vegan mayo! I had it in my chicken salad sandwich on wheat homemade bread. It was delicious! I couldnt believe how good it was! To top off the delicious meal, the service was fast, the atmosphere had many old fashioned decorations, and it was attached to a beauty salon. How cool is that?! Im here for a work training and forgot to take my receipt after paying for reimbursement. I called to get a copy of the receipt and he remembered who I was a reprinted the receipt for me as I was talking to him on the phone! Customer service goes a long way! I will be back.

This cafe was an incredible find in downtown Kearney, about 2 miles from hwy 80. We were looking for a healthy breakfast and good coffee. Both were supplied. The food is organic, healthy and tasty. It’s not greasy, filled with fresh ingredients. We’ll be back. They also juice and serve beer and lunch, have good music. Plenty of nice items to peruse. My favorite was the water color paintings of Nebraska scenes.

We stopped at Tru Cafe for lunch on our drive heading back home to Oregon. It was quite a treat to find this little gem in the middle of Nebraska with delicious organic, homemade foods, coffee and exceptional tea. Great food, great vibe and great service!

This is a nice gem in Kearney, always nice to stop by here, everything is top quality. In-house roasted beans. Desserts are made with great organic ingredients, full of flavor. Wonderful atmosphere. Also sells lose leaf teas, and coffee they roast in house. Great place for a great lunch, too!

Nice layout and a bunch of stuff to see. Was mind of disappointed in their bison pizza. Just wasnt as flavorful as I thought it would be. Other than that though, it was a fun experience.

The service was fast, staff awesome and atmosphere welcoming and warm. The walls were covered in local art and the iced mocha I got was amazing. I will keep coming here and I will love every second of it.

We searched for a restaurant with good vegetarian options and landed here. It was excellent for both vegetarians and omnivores. The roasted squash salad was flavorful, the fig/Brie/chicken flatbread was delightful, and the blackened chicken hoagie was delicious. And for picky kids, there was cheese pizza. Also enjoyed the artwork and antiques.

Best old fashioned drink youll ever have. Good food, but the best part is the people! The cupcakes are to die for. Very healthy options galore.

We were looking for a restaurant that served food without preservatives and artificial flavors or colors as we passed thru Kearney. This little place met our dietary needs in a delicious way. Great homemade cinnamon rolls and excellent customer service.

This is a wonderful place to eat with a healthy spin. We came for lunch and returned for dinner the same night. Small but varied menu ranging from sandwiches to full entrees with LOTS of flavor. Its varied enough that everyone will find something they like. Everything is made at the Cafe and it appeared that virtually all ingredients were organic and local when possible. Nice retro decor and very friendly service. It was a delightful break the norm of chain eateries. We would highly recommend it.

Terrible experience. Waited about an hour for lunch. The coffee was burnt. No service. Paid $9 for an egg salad sandwich that looked like it came out of a gas station. Would have been better with salt but there are no salt or pepper shakers in the dining area. Would not recommend to anyone.

Arrived at 11:55am and was told food prep couldn’t begin until 12:20pm. Not appropriately staffed during the lunchtime hours.

The first time I went, it was nice, but every piece of food seemed like it was filled with garlic. Staff has always been less than friendly and not very attentive. They open at 7 or so, but dont serve their menu until 10:30, which is absurd. Just so fickle.

While attending a conference in Kearney, I made it a point to stop at Tru Cafe. I was so super impressed with everything about the place (many locally sourced ingredients, vegetarian offerings, cool decor, great location, & the best service) that I made a return trip the same day with some colleagues.
