Such a great place to stop by. There are so many different types of cheeses and meat. There are also a lot of different other items from crackers, syrups, honey, candy, and home items. These are things that are not just local but also from overseas. There is a kitchen here with absolutely amazing food. I had the grilled cheese sandwich with German potato salad, a bowl of chili, and melt in your mouth cheese curds. There is also a bakery with yummy dessert items and different breads. I just loved stopping here and hopefully will be able to come back soon.

So many things Wisconsin! Spotted Cow, Lakefront, other seasonal beers. Sausage, cheese gift sets, real maple syrup, local honey, Kringle, food and beverages in dining areas. It makes you feel like a King!

Such a fun stop on our way from Fargo to Indiana. We found so many delicious-looking cheeses and other Wisconsin delicacies like Kringle!! Also some Spotted Cow beer my husband had wanted. There is a deli there that was perfect for lunch - grilled cheese and hot potato salad- and a tavern for some adult beverages! Easy parking, cute decorations, nice staff. What more could you ask for?

I’m not sure why I didn’t think this place would have the biggest selection of cheese that I have ever seen in a single location but it did! I picked up a few bags of fresh curds with some unique flavors that I have never had before. I also picked up some cheese spread and Wisconsin beer. Also, the atmosphere inside is very cool! Great place to take the family.

What a fun spot! We stopped in and had a Spotted Cow beer and a cheese plate with meat, crackers, and grapes at the bar. Afterwards we walked through the store and picked up some meats and cheese to go. The staff was really nice and it was easy to park and get back on the interstate.

Great place although I was slightly disappointed the walls were not made of cheese as I had envisioned my entire childhood lol. Friendly staff, clean interior, great selection and good food. We will definitely be back.

Great selection of everything, the people at the cheese bar were eager to share samples of all kinds of cheese, I forget her name but her favourite was OC Krystal which was a winner! Unfortunately the more you sample the more you want and I left spending much much more than intended to

Very cool place for the 3 basic food groups, cheese, meat and beer. Huge selection of all 3. The bartender in the tavern, Lisa was very welcoming and made our visit entertaining. The cheese plate and beers hit the spot perfectly. Would go every day but we live 2000 miles away.

Came here for cheese, a great brat, and local beer. This place had it all. The staff was exceedingly friendly and took the time to explain everything to us (were from the South). I was there last week and can confirm that they absolutely do cheese tasting. We were able to try both foil wrapped brick, soft brick, a local muenster and smell limburger varieties.Worth a stop for food or cheese.

Ive been going to Mars Cheese Castle since I was a little kid. Although I miss the nostalgia of the original location, the new spot is great. Make sure to get a Bloody Mary with a Spotted Cow beer back. And, enjoy their complimentary cheese (merkts) and crackers while youre waiting for a brat or grilled cheese. Also, go adventure in the deli and beer area. Youll find tons of yummy things to take home!

AMAZING!!! Took a girls trip to Wisconsin for the sole purpose of going to the cheese castle. It was the first time for both of us. After shopping we stopped in the bar. Kyle and Patty were great. We ordered the “Storming the Castle” cheese platter and good Lord was that yummy. We had more than enough to take home. We even stopped on the way home to get a Bloody Mary and do some more shopping. We will definitely be back.

Great selection of crackers, soda, jellies, and cheese. My only complaint was had lunch and food was cold, cold grilled cheese, fries and cheese curds. So, come enjoy and eat some place else.

This place is Mecca. Best cheese curds Ive ever had in my entire life and in my road trip through Wisconsin. Absolutely perfectly cooked. So fun to be in and to look around and shop. Recommended to me by the friend who lives in New Orleans whos from Wisconsin. I wasnt going to go here but ended up passing it on the way from Chicago and it was a happy surprise. Do yourself a favor and make the stop!

Visiting the Mars Cheese Castle is a unique experience. There isnt another place Ive ever been to like this. Its a mix of a liquor store that carries an amazing variety of beer and wine, an insane snack shop, a bread shop, a clothing store, and of course a cheese shop. Its fun and well done overall and a must stop if youre anywhere near.The ONLY gripe I have is with the hot sauce section. Seeing that this is a family store I would NEVER expect such products. The design of a handful of hot sauces are borderline pornographic, and misogynistic for sure. My kids were able to read these labels! This section of the store felt way out of place. So managers, please do something about this. I almost gave a 3 star review based solely on this snafu.Otherwise a very unique experience and Id come back for sure.

I drove all over Wisconsin looking for a way to taste test some cheeses. This was my last hope on our way into Chicago. So many reviews mentioned cheese taste testing. But, this place doesn’t do it either. 🙁 I never got to taste Wisconsin cheese. I blame Covid.However, the store itself was super clean and well organized. The staff was incredibly friendly and the options were limitless! I will definitely try to return again some day of tastings ever happen again!

Mars Cheese Castle is legendary. Every kind of cheese and summer sausage you can imagine. Microbrewed beers youve never seen before. A diner and bar area. Plenty of unique gifts. Should always be part of your trip if youre traveling anywhere remotely close. Love it!

We specifically made this a stop on our drive to Milwaukee and we’re pretty underwhelmed. The cheese curds were not good (very rubbery and just tasted salty) we didn’t want to finish the whole thing.The selection of cheese was good but nothing special, in fact it’s similar to the selection you would see at a nicer grocery store. There were a bunch of craft beers and sauces and souvenirs if you are interested but we expected more cheese related things from the cheese castle.

Awesome park. Nice paved trail. We saw 2 playground areas, at least 4 shelters and a bunch of picnic tables and benches. There was a lot of work being done to help stabilize erosion near the river. New bridges have either gone in or are going in. So some parts are currently blocked off for construction. We saw a bunch of animals which even my 14 yr old thought was cool! (Yeah nature!) Theres a dog park and golf course as well but we didnt go in those areas.

Way more than cheese. They have your usual gift shop items but also an awesome bakery and deli/grill with ample seating. Worth the stop if your driving by or live nearby and have never been.

This place is like Disney for cheese lovers. The best cheese selection Ive ever seen. They carry other great items from syrups to specialty condiments. Cant wait until my next visit.

Mars is a long standing Wisconsin tradition. They have a very extensive specialty product selection of many types of items. The only real down side is that you are going to pay ridiculously high prices for everything. I would not buy cheese or meats there, as same brands are all available at Woodmans for a fraction of the cost.

Wow! This place is AMAZING! They have loads of cheese, sausage and beer but also wine, crackers, t-shirts, gifts and loads more. They also have a tavern on-site. I couldve easily spent over an hour perusing all the great products they have here. I will definitely be back!

Amazing place! Good option for Wisconsin/Greenbay Packer souvenirs if you weren’t able to pick something up at Lambeau. Stopped for lunch too and had the deep fried cheese curds, would definitely recommend!

Absolutely have to stop every time when I go visit home in Wisconsin.

The cheese selection was phenomenal. It is a very large building, with the look of a castle, with many different sections to the store. They had a souvenir section, restaurant, a hot foods section, conscience store section, and of course the cheese section. I picked up three different cheeses: smoked mozzarella cheese, cheese curds and blue berry cheese. All of these were great but the smoked mozzarella cheese stands out as being my favorite. We also picked up some fried cheese curds at the hot food section, they were indescribably awesome!

The Mars Cheese Castle is always a must see when in the area. Great cheese and beer selection. Lots of Spotted Cow beer as well.

Love stopping here at least a few times every year. Good variety of quality cheeses and beer and they sell some great lundjaeger, along with some souvenirs for our friends from our out of town when they are visiting.

Very interesting stop off the I-94/41 highway near Kenosha. They have a lot of things there - cheese, wine, souvenirs, baked items etc. They also put together sandwiches and other food at the Tavern. They offer cheese tasting and we enjoyed a variety of them. Very nice and helpful staff. Would highly recommend a stop here.

Have not gone in the Castle in over 10 yrs. Definitely not the same Castle. You always paid more going to Mars than any other shops in the general area. It was an experience but now there prices are ridiculous.A couple items that I looked at were more than double the price than other locations within 5 miles. There cheese prices ridiculous. Liquor prices must be for people who dont shop for liquor or need it now badly. I wonder about products that I didnt look at.I suppose until we get tolls this is the only way to get extra money from Chicago tourist. CHICAGOANS please continue: Wisconsinites SAVE your money for the tolls.

Definitely a must-see on the road from Wisconsin to Chicago! Amazing cheese selection, and also a bar! The bartender was super friendly and welcoming, she even had individual-serve cheese and crackers for everybody! As of September 2021, the kitchen is closed Tuesday’s and Wednesdays, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a sandwich. But the incredible cheese selection and friendly bartender make this my new go-to stop when I’m on 94!

Mars Cheese Castle has a large variety of Wisconsin cheeses to choose from, and other foods and beverages. Their chocolate cheese is amazing! This is a great place to stop while traveling, we stop on our way home every time we are in the area to pickup cheese to take home. Dont forget to get a bag or 2 of cheese curds, they have several varieties.

The holy land for all cheese lovers. Its family owned and has an appropriate amount of kitsch for a cheese castle. Fresh cheese curds available - get the cheddar or dill and cheddar kept on the cart up front. Room temp curds are the best.

A fun cheese shop right off the freeway in Wisconsin. They offer a large variety of wine and cheese custom cut to your liking. They also have a gift shop where I found some cool Wisconsin gear. The sandwich shop also offers grilled cheese options that looked good but we missed out on it since they just closed. I bought 14 year old aged cheddar and sausages. Enjoyed the castle decor and unique items.

This is a must see destination. Its family owned and full of fresh cheese, wine, meats, and souvenirs. There are literally two suits of armor on the walls and a giant mouse thats bigger than you. The cheese curds are fresh and squeeky. It used to be a small brown building, but then they knocked it down to expand the highway and found an architect in WI who could build an actual castle. Such a treasure!

Loved this cheese factory/restaurant/store.So many good cheeses and craft beers to choose from. Found a nice raspberry sorbet beer that was out of this world and the cheese is all indescribable

It was my first time going here after seeing it so many times off of the highway and it was worth the visit! Of course the assortment of cheese is amazing but I didnt expect them to sell so much wine, have a bakery, sell home trinkets, and candy etc. etc. It is so cute and I loved the Christmas decorations! They make it clear that you have to wear a mask before entering, which was nice since not all places in Wisconsin do so. I felt safe shopping there!

Place is huge! So many things to look at and all kinds of cheeses and sausages. One of my favorite things I bought here was this smoked mozzarella string cheese. This stuff is awesome I can’t wait to go back and get more!

Lots of good touristy souvenirs - some unique- but definitely something for everyone. In addition to cheese and WI souvenirs, they also have an amazing selection of sauces, spices, charcuterie type stuff (olives, peppers, amazing balsamic onions), beers, wines, and other alcoholic beverages like hard cider. The location also sports a bar, and a cafe.The last two times, I stopped in there - I had an order of the beer cheese battered deep fried curds. To die for - they are extremely distractingly delicious - I would drive by with deep longing to stop again. I succumbed this time. As usual, I stopped for the fried curds and bought stuff I didnt need. The prices are fixed for Chicago tourists. Living in WI - you see a lot of that - antiques, crafted beer, and cheese - all very quality and very pricey. Chicago tourist dont seem to mind paying high. I guess its a sign, to them, that its good stuff.So this time I was kinda disappointed by the premium fried curds. They were a tad...greasy? Maybe it was time to change out the oil? They just didnt taste as good as I remembered. Before, the curds had a good overtone and smell of beer. I barely tasted it. At least a 1/3rd of curds were cooked clump together and so the batter was not quite crisp in places. Just over all, I tasted grease versus the delicate crust (like tempura). Still better than most fried cheese curds Ive had in IL, KY, IN and at home.

That was a way more fun store than I even thought possible! Its decorated like a castle. A queen greets kids at the door! And a lot of the products are from Europe. Plus the awesome Wisconsin cheese!

A lot of cheese!! They seem to cary a lot of different varieties and its a nice location! Not five stars because some of there cheese is way over priced, and actually getting to the parking lot is a little weird. Other than that, its worth the stop and they have a lot of other stuff and some things from local areas too.

Purchased a few cheeses, two of the cheese where “smoked” cheese. As this being a high end cheese store and for the price paid I would think the cheeses that say are smoked are actually smoked. But to my dismay they were spray smoked flavor onto the surface of the cheese. Additionally I purchased a bag of chips that said 1.99 on the package printed by the manufacturer but was charged 3.79. If you want to charge more then the manufacturer suggested price that’s fine but cover up the price on the package. If you want a bigger and better selection of cheeses at a better price just down the road you will find a grocery store that will do just that.

Still one of my fav places that I must stop by and grab some essential goodies either on my way to my friends 🏡 or on my way back home which bout 1 hrs away. I love the unique things you can find here. Although things have changed a tad dues to shut down you can actually order either for curb pick up as well they ship some things to you as well .I love to go in, I love to buy, try and enjoy new finds each time I stop by.The staff if always courteous and trust me if you ask for help finding anything they will sure help you. I picked up everything you see in the pic (except my mask) and of course what I already ate on my way home.

This place is not too far from the Wisconsin - Illinois border. Delicious cheese made from all over Wisconsin. Also have a great selection of sodas, snacks and a small bakery & restaurant. I highly recommend the cheese curds. They are really good when making pouting at home.

This place is near the Wi/Illinois border. Visiting family & had to do the tourist thing. Large selection of cheese from everywhere. Small bakery & fast food style dining. Food was good and the staff is very helpful to answer questions of the merchandise. NO CHEESE HEADS for sale, this was a big disappointment to my husband.

The Mars Cheese Castle is a really nice place to stop. Its great for picking up gifts and tasty treats. We also had lunch in the cafe. There was a little bit of a wait since it was all made fresh. The kids were impressed that there was a butterscotch root beer available at the self serve soda machine.Not much is a bargain. But the baked goods were moderately priced. If you really want a cheap treat, there a mark down shelf of baked stuff like bread, donuts and muffins. I think there was even a peach loaf.I didnt visit the bar, but did bring home some cans of an interesting porter. If I return, Ill definitely pick up more fun drinks--with and without alcohol.My family loves the cheese curd. The fried curd in the cafe was great too. We also just tried the smoke mozzarella rope. It was too smokey for me, but it would be great with some bread or in a small portion.The employees seemed a little less pleasant than expected, but who knows if staffing shortages have them frazzled.Overall, its definitely worth the stop. The parking lot was much roomier than I expected. Many RVs were parked with no issues.

We wanted some different kind of cheese.. for the folks back home! We found so much more than that there!!! We ended up eating there I dont like sandwich and I was like ok we try it... I am so glad I did its was so good! My husband had a meatball sub he said it was one of the best he has ever eaten! We ended up spending more than we wanted to but we had a good time! For it being a store its fun in there so much to see!

Fun place to eat and shop. If they offer you cheese, they dont take no for an answer lol. Food & drinks were great. We sat in the Tavern where we were pleasantly greeted by the bartender who directed us to where we ordered our food.

We stopped here as part of a friends tradition to have a drink before leaving the country. Which was really well made i might add. There is also a small market to buy some light snacks n such for home.

It is a touristy spot with a lot of cheese, as would be expected. The cafe had good sandwiches. It was worth stopping once to say we did it, but I wouldnt make it a regular spot.
