I was in dire straits and researched local appliance businesses that were available during weekends. This claimed to be one. My initial call was directly to Ely, owner of this company, who initially declined my call and decided to text. When I made it clear I was a potential customer looking for assistance he called me and told me he would come by the house the following day at 10am.That simply did not happen. Ely sent a friend of his named Alex, who did not show up at the agreed upon 10am time frame. When Alex arrived it was clear that Ely had not provided him any information that I had shared with him the day before regarding my washing machine that was not functioning.Alex, although a very kind man, clearly was way in over his head. I live in a townhouse. The connection for the washer and dryer is up the stairs. He told me to bring my machine downstairs to the first floor. Or into the basement. This is Key West, most people do not have basements. When I explained to him that could not happen and the only 220 plug, drain, connections for water and draining was in the upstairs. He went to look at it. I told him if he needed assistance moving this very large stacked system, that I would help. He looked at things for quite some time upstairs. I paid him $65 for the house call. He said that he would have to see if this was under warranty and that either the motor or the motherboard/computer system had failed, both of which were extremely expensive fixes. To provide some background information so everyone understands what was taking place:I have a stacked, full size, Kenmore washer and dryer unit. The washer completely failed, was not filling, nor would the wash cycle start.Alex explained to me that if it wasnt the motor, most of these newer devices today are ran by computer systems, not by mechanical/electrical components as they were in the past.Feeling defeated, I accepted this information. He was not certain which issue it was and said he would return. This then began a multiple day waste of my time. Multiple texts, multiple calls. All of which Alex was stating a different problem with the machine. He said he had to come out again and look at this all over again to find out why the washer wasnt spinning. (NOT the issue) Initially I thought perhaps maybe he confused me with another customer. Upon clarification, he didnt. He simply couldnt remember what the problem was and what he told me the fix needed to be.Needless to say, I feel ripped off. $65 lighter in my wallet for absolutely nothing but excuses and absolutely nothing getting accomplished.I strongly, vehemently do NOT recommend anyone using Ely Appliance Corp.
