I have dealt with this company the owner and with a lot the branches of American Coins and Gold and I have had such a positive experience with their honesty and fairness. Went in there to look at coins with my father and they didn’t have really anything and my father was asking the guy some questions and he was extremely rude and acted like it was bothering him that we were asking questions, this was the first time we’ve ever been in there and it definitely will be the last especially when your phone is more important than people looking to spend money in your store.

Yeah, so I now believe the other 1 star reviews and Im certain the 5 star reviews are fake. There are two signs up. The first is Out for a quick break, the second is Closed for inventory, call with questions. Which is it? Nobody picks the provided cell number up and there is no voice-mail. Im a pretty serious collector and bullion stacker, and I can see at least a few items that I would be very interested in. It pisses me off to be this close to the only store I care about in the mall, but I cant buy anything, and I have no way of knowing when it will be open.

Responded to store at opening and viewed a sign which stated the staff member was on a quick break. A phone number was provided to call for assistance. 2.5 hours later received a message that they were unavailable.

Was in the store looking at coins for my father who is in his 90s. The employee continuously ask my daughter for her phone number even though she politely declined. My daughter is 13 years old and I was standing right next to her the whole time. I was terrified for my life and my daughters life.

Rude as hell over the phone no help at all. I was ready to spend over 2,000 dollars

This place is amazing. The staff is very friendly, professional, honest and great prices. Knowledgeable. Fast and easy process. I have been to other coin places but this one by far is BEST! Wow. What a great store to have in the mall. I happens to have my diamond ring in my handbag while walking past. The employee was able to tell me the quality of the diamond which was amazing. I happens to sell as well. I am more that pleased with the price given for my precious diamond. Thank you guys

There is no other plausible explanation as to how this store is still open in the mall. It is obviously a front for some other business, be it money laundering or drugs, or some other illicit activity. Ive gone in there multiple times it was completely empty with no workers or managers even attempting to buy or sell coins or currency. The one time i went in and someone was actually there, he didnt even bother to stand up to greet me (possibly the only customer of the day, since its always empty) and looked like I was upsetting him when I asked questions about some of the coins and bills. If anyone else has ever been to any coin shop in the world, they know they have one thing in common. The owner/workers are always trying to sell you something. Here, he couldnt care less about me being in the store even when i showed interest in various coins/bills. Further, when I asked about some of the stuff they had on display he seemed to lack basic knowledge about the items, something you rarely see in a coin store.Bottom line. Rent in the palisades mall is expensive and everyone knows that. Thats why stores there open and close all the time and the ones that are open are always hustling to sell you something or to bring in customers, whether its with flashing signs, balloons at the door, or people standing outside, and empty store in the palisades mall is a dead one. Thats why this store must be a front for something else. They cannot possibly pay the rent by having NO ONE in the store 90% of time and the other 10% of the time seem totally uninterested in selling anything or dealing with customers. Money must be coming in some other way otherwise the place wouldve been gone by now, just like i figured it would be when I was there during their first week open.This place has to be a front for something else. If you are looking to buy some coins or bills, look elsewhere.PS. Every 5 star review on this page seems utterly fake. They all have generic names and no pictures and each one has given exactly 6 reviews on google in the past. They are riddled with grammatical errors and seem to have either been written by children or foreigners. I would not trust these people for a moment. Went to some place in New Haven and they tried to offer me scrap for my cuban, needless to say I just walked out.I came across this place and saw that they have multiple locations so they must be going good business. my assumption was correct! I walked in and handed them my jewelry and they knew they werent declining with scrap gold! sold my Chain at a great price. No Hassle, no arguments, just great business. I will be returning with more items!!

Not a great experience. I went to this location to get some of my coin collections appraised and instead all the worker said was keep my coin books and my rare pure sterling silver fork set was only worth $120 and that silver is not worth much anymore which I know myself is FALSE. Plus he kept dropping my coin cases on the floor while he was looking at them. I was trying to figure out to myself if something was wrong with or was he doing it on purpose. It seems like in general he didn’t want to be there at all. Real bad representation for the business.

Offered me HALF of what another coin dealer in Wayne offered me. This guy had NO idea what he was doing and didnt even try to care.

I went to sell my yellow gold jewelry at AC&G and a gentlemen that was there was very professional and offer me great customer service what made me even more happier was the price he had given me I went to three other shops and they were trying to give me $600-800 less then what this company was trying to give me I highly recommend this company and will refere my friends and family to them and will definitely bring the rest of my things back when Im ready

The spot price for Silver is $17.83 today. Asked the employee at this shop what they were selling Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins for, and he said $25. That is a ridiculous $7.17 premium. Most dealers sell them at only a $2 to $2.50 premium.

One of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with, and the positive reviews have to be from friends and family.I went to Palisades Mall location to talk with a man that later stated he was the manager. A pawn shop manager that cant value gold (dental gold in my case) and valued my dental gold at $30 initially as it was supposedly 1.4. I already did my research and calculated my gold value personally as well as through calculators on refinery websites (those places that pawn shops usually send to get the scrap gold refined as middle man). I got the gram weight 2.30 using a digital scale that goes to hundredth place. Its actual value was near $55, nearly half the value of the dental gold disappeared before factoring in refine and store fees. The manager ended up offering me $15 for $55. Thats right, under 30% of value.I e-mailed that it must be a mistake and I wanted to still use the store as long as their valuation was accurate. I was told to call next day, so I figured that the manager would have been corrected in valuation of my gold. I already stated that it was a small amount of dental gold, I believe stating a cap only. I returned to the store.I explained to the same man/manager that I would like to have my gold weighed in front as stated in my e-mail as with karat testing. Neither was conducted. The guy simply re-weighed it from same location where it is difficult for customers to see. I countered that I knew the weight was 2.3 grams and it was worth more. The manager stated that the weight was taken in pennyweight, and it is actually not even worth $30. The manager then asked why I was making a big deal for a small amount of money. I was flabbergasted as I guess $25+ is trivial for a pawn shop manager to throw away. I dont even know him or store owner. Would he work $25 worth of hours for free for an owner he has met before?It turns out that the value resumes very close. Only difference is that you have to divide the Troy oz gold by amount of pennyweight per Troy oz, not gram per Troy oz. That discrepancy alone will cost the seller a decent percentage of the items value and profit the pawn shop in unscrupulous way before making more money through fees. I left again with the dental gold even though I would rather sell it immediately. Lost a big bridge and other caps in past.I e-mailed again that it cant be correct in evaluation and I provided my math to show I was not wrong. The reply was that the pawn shop does not want to do business any longer. What changed other than proving myself correct in valuation? Did I stumble into a scam where I was being told wrong information repeatedly where a pawn shop manager does not know how to value gold ffs? Ignores information provided that could be verified in a few minutes through the internet (refineries sites, dental gold information sites, other pawn shops, etc). Small amount was specified in first e-mail so should not be the cause of change.As I stated in my e-mail, I dont mind paying fees to refine and use their store. However, I am not going to be a sucker that gives out $25 to liar that claim false valuation as expert in the field.
