Outstanding service and quality. My youth orchestra group from Florida needed 5 cellos and 2 basses for their trip to Aspen over the summer. James set them all up beautifully with high quality instruments and was available for any issues we had on our trip. A great shop to work with and the owners are professional and knowledgeable!!! Took my violin in to Derek who does repairs for Sol Vista at the Von’s Violin location in Denver to get the fingerboard refinished and my action raised. I was completely blown away by the quality of the whole experience-- I’m not one to write reviews but for half the price I’d been quoted at another violin shop, Derek did a masterful job with the repairs and went above and beyond, polishing the whole violin, refinishing the tuning pegs for easier use, and did it all in just a couple days (apparently he was busy with multiple other repairs and took the violin home to be able to finish everything up in the timeframe that he had quoted me). I’ll definitely be taking my fiddle here for all future repairs.(Additional follow up— it took me a second to pin down why the name Sol Vista Violins was so familiar and it just came to me— years ago when I was in high school I was trying to learn a few luthiery basics to build an electric violin and through a family connection had the great fortune to meet up with James. He graciously lent his time and knowledge at no expense. The violin got built and I emerged with a much more comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of instrument making thanks to his generosity and expertise. Stellar people through and through.)

James is such a pleasure to work with. I really enjoy his spirit and enthusiasm. I have been renting a cello for my son the last two years and am now purchasing a longer term instrument. Along the way James and his team have been incredibly helpful and encouraging. In addition to the rental, we have had several instrument repairs and a great recommendation for an outside school cello teacher. I too own a small business and really appreciate a fellow business owner with great passion for what they do.

I cant say enough nice things about this shop. We had a privately owned violin (not leased through them) whose bridge got broken. The owners were able to get me fixed rapidly (within two days), were super nice, charged me a fair price, and even sharpened the pencil in her case. I am very happy with this business, and we will return for further violin needs.

We found Sol Vista on the recommendation of my daughters cello instructor (who is an extremely accomplished musician). Im so glad that he recommended them. They were extremely helpful in getting cellos for both of my daughters at a price point that worked for us. In addition, James did a great job of helping me play it off since the cellos are supposed to be coming from Santa but I had my youngest child with me to get sized. I had been looking to find a luthier because we have cellos, violins and guitars in our home. I am so excited to go pick up the cellos and surprise my kids. I highly recommend them and this is definitely where I will be going for all needs related to any of our string instruments.

James is honestly the best luthier Ive been to. He is very passionate about making sure you get what you need, and doing it right. He is always really good at competing with online store prices, and has a lot of connections to make that happen. James has earned a customer for life after his resuscitation of my Taylor, which had split down the center seam both top and back. Beautiful craftsmanship, and a perfect set up after working the frets/fretboard/neck as well. Hes enthusiastic about the instruments he works on, and courteous and professional to deal with.

What an incredible place!!My daughter told me the morning of her violin concert that she broke her bow. Unfortunately I had to work all day so I was already assuming I wouldnt find a place to get a bow in time. When I found Sol Vista I was nervous about price...but when I called, I was instantly reassured that the bow would be affordable and high quality.
