Ive worked with a lot of professional music teachers over the years. Lakewood Music Academy offers access to some of the top instructors in the greater Cleveland area. Lessons focus on developing skills while maintaining an engaging feel. The hours are also great for parents or adult students that require flexibility. Highly recommend if you are looking to learn to play an instrument, or advance current skills!
Our son has been learning the trumpet there this summer. And i feel his tutor, Thomas, has been doing a good job. My son enjoys going there. The prices and make-up session policies are good.
My daughter has been taking piano lessons for three years with Ms. Laura and is going really well. She just started Ukulele lessons with Mr. Fred and has a great time at each lesson.I would highly recommend the academy to anyone who wants to give their kids a great music experience.
I study with Samantha and I’ve seen such a significant change in my vocal capabilities since starting with her. She’s clear about what I need to work on and answers all my questions and I love that we decide on music together and even do things I would have never thought to do. She’s really challenged me to take the time to develop healthy and manageable singing techniques and all around the studio is a great place. If you’re looking for a vocal coach, Sam is definitely amazing and LMA is for sure a top studio for Musical Theatre, in Cleveland.
LMA is awesome and my daughter loves it! She’s studying voice & piano and has taken it as an opportunity to collaborate with her teacher on creating her own songs, in addition to learning the basics. We really appreciate their willingness for make up classes, especially now that they are back in person!
Our son started taking lessons at Lakewood Music Academy a couple months ago and is really enjoying his teacher. They seem to be working at a good pace and our son enjoys each lesson. He’s so motivated to practice he plays in the car on the way home!Scheduling-wise, we’ve been impressed with LMA’s flexibility so far!
I enroll my 6 year old not knowing what to expect (it was the first time). His teacher was so patient to show him 2 instruments so he would choose what hed like to play. She is a great teacher and is always encouraging him. I also like that she tells the things that need to be improved and works with the parent and student to do it better. I highly recommend!
This is our 2nd year with LMA and i couldnt be happier. My son is excited to go to practice. He plays the drums and guitar. Both with instructor named Ben hes been amazing 👏 i recommend it big time good luck!
Our children love attending LMA for drums and piano! The instructors and staff are knowledgeable, patient, and supportive.
Everyone there makes you feel at home and patience along with a recipe of guidance and positivity are early keys to success. Thank you all very much!!
Through the years, myself and the members of my family have attended music lessons at various locations (most often moving because we wanted to learn from a specific teacher). Lakewood Music Academy is by far the worst of the bunch. The lesson rooms are TINY. You are literally touching knees with your instructor. If one of you needs to move the other one needs to leave the room (thats not an exaggeration- I mean this literally).Should your instructor cancel a lesson you get a sub. This is a waste of your time and money. It takes several weeks to develop a rapport with a teacher- for that instructor to learn how you learn- what level youre at- what works and what doesnt. Having a stranger sit-in so the store can still get their money is insulting. The only reason to still go to live lessons and not just learn off of youtube is because of the rapport you build. Im fine if I have to skip a week (if Im not charged- like at other schools) when the instructor cant make it- but dont insult me by bringing in a babysitter for the week.As for the store itself- there isnt one. They dont sell any of the necessities that music stores should- like books, strings, picks, etc. They dont sell instruments. They dont make repairs. They only house tiny little rooms where they stuff you with an instructor who may or may not be the one you signed up for. They will, however, call, email, and text you NONSTOP insistently nagging you about how your lessons are going, though.
Incredible experience!
My daughter has been receiving guitar instruction at Lakewood Music Academy for a year. She was able to select an instructor that suited her personality, talent and schedule. She loves the variety of instruments and programs offered and has participated in both guitar and Ukulele lessons and concert/ workshops at the Academy. We have also had to avail ourselves of Sharons instrument repair and maintenance skills. Lay-away option will enable us to add the banjo to our repertoire of strings. We are excited about the new space (location) and cannot wait to see what Sharon and Co. have in store for their music students. It is a bonus that supporting this small, local, independent business is congruent with our family life values.
Marrell Music is a full-service music store with everything you need. Friendly customer service, and a great selection of instruments and accessories. Sharon, the owner, is a certified instrument repair technician, and can repair about any instrument. I take guitar lessons from Jim - a great guitar teacher. Sharon, Jim, and the other teachers are qualified instructors who have been at it for a long time. Marrell Music also features great workshops to help students learn more about their instruments. I recommend Marrell Music for all your music needs!
Ive come here for jam sessions, workshops, and just to plain shop for music supplies. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. Ive never done a lesson but from looking at their pricing and options as a musician myself, I think the variety of options and pricing is very fair. If you want to support a great local business, Lakewood Music Academy is the place.
Lakewood Music Academy has been a great place for our whole family. We have had lessons with five different instruments, and all instructors have been experienced and patient. We have been able to buy or rent multiple instruments and equipment, and get repairs. All has been priced very reasonably.
This music stores charm is its independence from the chain store trend thats overtaken most of America. Service is personalized. The store reminds me of the independently-owned music shop in PA where I took my first music lessons 30 years ago: Just a couple of knowledgeable salespeople plus a staff of highly-skilled (though not elitist) instructors; a showroom with cool instruments and gadgets but not an overwhelming amount of stimuli; instrument repairs can be done on-site. Its not just a place to buy instruments and take lessons; it has a community-minded mission.
We received excellent service at Lakewood Music Academy. They repairs my daughters flute in just a couple of days, so she had it back in time before her next band lesson. Prices are great and staff are very knowledgeable. We will definitely be repeat customers.
Best music shop in Lakewood. Lessons, equipment, and she does all the woodwind and brass repairs. Ive seen her fix a 100 year old antique trumpet like new
Lakewood Music Acadamy has great teachers and great recitals. The instructors have a diverse background in music and seems that many ot them play several instruments as opposed to just what they give lessons on.They have many different days and times to choose from and even provide makeup days if you happen to miss a lesson. We did have a slight issue during lessons that the staff immediately addressed and made sure to follow up with us on. It took us from feeling like we were just customers to feeling part of their family.
This is an amazing place. The lessons are fun and the teachers are great. Huge selection of instruments, books and supplies, and really nice atmosphere.
Our visit to Marrell Musical Instrument Repair today (06/10/13) was very pleasant and excellent, indeed! The staff at Marrells are very welcoming and want to help you out in a genuine manner, so that you could enjoy the gift of music through quality products that they sell. I would definitely recommend this music store to anyone interested in either buying/selling an instrument in the Cleveland area!
I was disappointed at their rental services. My daughter has just started playing violin, so we rented a 1/2 size violin there. Since we were not knowledgeable about violin, we completely trusted on them. However, I realized how bad the violin they rented was, and the strings and bow were old. Her tutor said that a rental store usually loans a violin with at least new strings and bow. It was a used Lark (brand). I found that the price for a used one was around $100 on ebay, but their selling price was more than $400. I terminated the contract after three months. It was not a pleasant experience.
The dresser family loves the Lakewood music academy we go to them for all of our musical needs
Its a wonderful place to get guitar string.
Friendly, patient, professional staff
I was invited to join a guitar stringing lesson at Marrell Musical Instrument Repair shop and enjoyed the full hour of the lesson. I learned just what I needed to do and came away with a well tuned and well strung Mandolin. Yes, while it was a guitar stringing workshop, I was allowed to bring my mandolin and another person brough her Ukelele. If ever invited via email go to the shop. It is a most valuable lesson.
Great store to get your music supplies.
