Nicest auto mechanic ever. Very personal touch, actually cared about the vehicle. Gave me his cell phone number and sent me a text with a rundown of what he found. The issue my car had ended up not being a transmission issue and he even offered to drive the car to another shop for me that specialized in the issue my car was having (sensor issue). Really fantastic, highly recommend.

There was an issue with my car making it difficult to diagnose and the people at cottmam came through with flying colors it was very stressful due to defective parts purchased from a local auto part store but they coordinated the repair and worked it out with the parts seller keeping me informed from start to finish providing realistic time frames not empty promises. Their prices are fair and I can confidently say they are trustworthy and make every effort to give the best service and thats not typically the case in the auto repair business and thats exactly why I highly recommend them to anyone looking for transmission repair. I cant speak for every location but on ross st in Lancaster cottman deserves a well earned 5 star rating!

Fantastic is all I can say, Cottman Transmission exceeded my expectations in every way! I called more than 10 shops for a clutch replacement and Cottman was the only shop that was honest on the prices of replacement parts! I was told it would be more cost effective to buy a new flywheel than have the old one resurfaced. Other shops told me the cost of flywheel resurfacing could be hundreds of dollars if needed to be done Flywheel resurfacing is standard procedure with a clutch replacement and I knew that. Cottomans honesty and professionalism made me feel confident about choosing them for the job.They got me my car back 3 days earlier than I expected and it runs FANTASTIC, I was also pleased they replaced some worn parts instead of installing parts that were close to failure since they were already removed! The cost of the service was well worth it and the added bonus is they guarantee the parts for a LIFETIME and 12 months or 12,000 miles on their work. Overall I could not be more pleased with the repair, service, honesty and professional service performed at Cottman Transmission. I highly recommend Cottmans for transmission repairs/service. I had a transmission leak that led to my car not working. I filled it with non-Honda brand fluid, that my manual said would have to get flushed out. I called about 7 car shops until I came across Cottmans...Scott was the first genuinely helpful person I came across. He was able to get my car in right away, diagnose the problem (for free!), and fixed the leak. Everything was handled in a professional and timely manner, and the cost was Very reasonable...Scott even checked around first to make sure it was absolutely necessary to replace the radiator, or just the cooling lines between the transmission and radiator, so that he could possibly save me from having to pay so much. Also, he saved me from having to flush out the fluid I had just put in because he said older cars arent as picky on the fluid...without his knowledge I wouldve paid someone over $100 to flush it out, which turns out is not even necessary! On a separate occasion, I was concerned about a noise my car was making and he checked it the next day, totally free of charge! I highly recommend Cottmans...very genuine, helpful, and you dont get ripped off at all.

Quality. Scott is the kind of business owner you WANT to do business with. Always courteous, professional, fair and thorough. Mechanics are knowledgeable and actually care. Nobody wants to deal with transmission issues, but if this something you have to endure I would highly recommend this destination for your transmission solutions.

Scott was the main contact at the garage. I was referred by my main garage to get transmission work done but the problem ended up not being transmission but the hub bearing. The experience working with Cottman was awful. Scott continually misquoted me and overcharged me from the initial quote. I showed up then to pick my car up and he did not have half of the work done that he told me that he would do. He kept my car for an entire week and weekend which put me out of work because I use my car for my job. Confronted him about my concerns and the fact that he overcharged us and he did not do anything about it. I will not be bringing my car back to Cottman and will never recommend people to work with them.

Cottman inspected my truck that was having (i assumed) transmission issues. It turns out that there was a faulty sensor. They drove my vehicle to a local garage for me, where the service could be performed with no cost. Truely quality people and service.

The team at Cottman exceeds expectations each time. They are one of the fairest and most competent shops in Lancaster. We had an issue where my daughters car was having issues while at college in Philly. The local shop in Philly told her she needed a new transmission for $2500. We spoke with Cottman and they wanted to see the car since they had worked on it recently and did not believe a new transmission was needed... THEY WERE RIGHT... they saved us almost $2000!!! Will use Cottman for years to come.

I have been having trouble with my car lately so I do what any normal person would and I went and had it looked at. They proceeded to tell me my transmission was fine. So the problem continued and now its getting worse. Well I checked my transmission fluid tonight and DIDNT EVEN GET A READING ON THE DIP STICK! Literally NOTHING! Bone freaking dry! Isnt that there job? To check cars out and find out whats going on with them. 4.3 stars my ass! I had my clutch replaced by Cottman and had a great experience. I made an appointment in advance and dropped my car off Monday night and it was done by Thursday morning

Good and quick service, everywhere else would take a week or more to fix, only a day and half for a new clutch kit and flywheel. Shaun was very helpful and explained everything that was done and even fixed lug nuts on tire. Nice place would use them again.

Quality service. Honest and very patient as I took time to decide if we should go ahead with repairs to our 2001 escape. Scotty from the Ross St. location was incredibly helpful in making the right decision. I would definitely recommend them.

Cottman Transmission did an amazing job replacing our bad transmission. They were roughly half the price of the transmission chain we took it to originally, they were 100% straight forward, and genuinely seem to care about their quality of work which can be hard to find.

Good service thought they messed up it was just the one bone head mechanic who out it in at a different shop runs good lots of power could use some work in the communication department but they do good work
