Add a week to any service estimate they give you. They also do not offer loaners or shuttle service. Go literally anywhere else.Edit: Id like to correct some falsehoods in the reply below. I was offered a loaner 5 days after I dropped off my car, and 4 days after they claimed itd be ready. Their estimate was wrong by 4 days because they didnt even start work on my car until 3 days after I dropped it off. Like I said, go literally anywhere else.

I grew up thinking that taking your vehicle to a dealership mechanic would cost way more than taking it to the corner mechanic. My husband convinced me to go to the dealership mechanic for a minor repair. I am so glad I went. They not only fixed the repair for a reasonable price they fixed a recall for my car that I did not know about. They also washed my car and vacuumed it! The customer service is spectacular. They are upfront with pricing and will tell you what needs to be done now, and what can wait. Will certainly be taking my car back for any needed repairs in the future!

The dealership is in kind of a bad spot because of how close it is to 2 busy intersection so it can be hard to get in and out of. They are also one of the more expensive dealerships to get service done at. I recently had to have a DSG service done and they where trying to charge me about $150 more than another dealer that I ended up going to. They are also not willing to attempt to price match other dealers prices at all and claim they will lose money if they do it for less. They arent rude by any means but also not willing to do a lot to help either.

This review was intially a 5 star, but service after the sale has been shockingly poor. The 2016 Volkswagen we purchased has a problem with the windows freezing, which prevents the doors from opening. We have copied in Tavi, who I believe is related to the owner, multiple times in our emails to corporate. Not a single response, nothing. Please consider that before you buy from them. Please consider that you wont hear back when your practically new car doesnt work. No email, no call back, nothing. If service after the sale is important to you, my advice based on this experience is to avoid Williams Volkswagen for your next auto purchase.*I did get a response...see below.

They will go to any extent to make you pay for the services and parts! Their “free” inspection is tantamount to scam. Told me my CV boot is torn that needs to fixed within a month Otherwise it will have serious consequences and quoted me 400$, didn’t get it done, came back after a few months for transmission service, the boot has magically healed on its own as they didn’t find anything wrong. If you go to the dealership even for a recall to get fixed, make sure you check each and everything in the car before you scoot off their driveway, I would suggest make them come to the car and check everything in front of them. If you come back within 5 minutes with some issue with the car that they clearly had something to do with it, they would deny-deny-deny all the responsibility.

Because Williams is a dealership the hourly maintenance cost is higher. However, you do get much better service. I recently worked with Williams on my A4. The service department is one of the worst Ive dealt with. I have 2 daughters at MSU, both drive VW TDI Wagons. Ive had to get one of the cars serviced several times and in each case she either had to take the car back to get the problem fixed again, or bring it back home so I could repair it properly. Even items as simple as an oil change resulted in additional problems, parts broken by mechanics, work not completed but charged for. The worst experience was dealing with the service manager, Mike Born. He will lie to you, take your money, and tell you hes doing you a favor all in the same sentence. The most recent failure resulted in me having to buy parts that the mechanic broke when attempting to reinstall a grab handle in the headliner. The mechanic bent the part that the handle was supposed to attach to. Instead of fixing it properly he decided to glue the handle in with epoxy which lasted long enough to get the car off the lot and ruined the perfectly good handle as well. After filing a complaint with Volkswagen of America and speaking with Mike Born, the liar and cheating service manager, I ended up fixing the problem myself once again. Apparently he thinks young girls bringing their vehicles in for service are an easy target to rip off. They charged me $345 to remove the headliner and clean out 2 sunroof drains that were clogged and leaking water into the headliner. I paid it. I got the vehicle back with broken parts, Mike told me they were single use parts which I found odd since there were 4 identical grab handles in the headliner, 3 of which came out and went back in without incident. Apparently only the 4th is a single use part. I then had to purchase a new handle at nearly $60, remove the handle bracket that was bent and broken by the mechanic, reshape it, file it, reinstall it, and put it back together properly and everything worked just fine. His generous offer leading up to my repair was for me to take a day off, spend 3 hours driving the car back to Lansing for repairs and he would only charge me 50%. So I get to pay for them to correct their own mistakes, buy the parts myself that they ruined, take a full day off work to do this and he is doing me a big favor because he doesnt have to do anything at all. Horrible, terrible, dishonest, flat out bold face lies is what you will get from their service department. Stay as far away from Williams Volkswagen as you can get.

(Transmission flush- supposed to be done at 30 thousand miles- fluid was black and sludgy, car is over 60 thousand miles), I had to have a brake flush and wheel alignment, as well as figure out why the check engine light was coming on. Plus one if the rims was bent. When I called the sales man who sold me the car to complain, Jeff B. He was argumentative and unhelpful. I had not told him about the bent rim, but about the maintenance stuff, he didnt care and told me that it was owners discression and the joys of car ownership. Just wanted to warn you!

Update: Expect a minimum of $60-120 just for them to look it over. They wont tell you that on the phone when you call them though. When asked, Mike the service manager said they dont tell you this over the phone because every other place does it to and their time isnt free. Ok, true Mike, time is money, but both you were told the exact reason it was brought in....you didnt have to search for a leak or diagnose anything, just order and install 2 new banjo bolts on the new steering rack I installed with new crush washers. Well, they looked the car over as service manager Mike told me they would....looking over a bunch of stuff that wasnt ne necessary. At first he gave me an estimate of around $120 before I left the car with him (fyi, conversation was audio recorded......yes, theres a reason I dont trust repair shops...even dealerships......I user to be a mechanic, but at a different shop) then his garage manager calls me and starts going over a list of other things that need to be fixed....estimate was somewhere over $2000. When I told him there was no reason to have x,y, and z done because that doesnt have anything to do with the steering and then asked why he listed extra parts for specific parts of the quote when the repair manual stated what and how many were required....Mike told me he didnt want anything to do with it and to come pick it up. Bottom line, this place will either get you on the cost for looking at it or for the over charges they place on your quote. IMO, take it somewhere else. If you take it to a mom & pop shop, just make sure they have certified mechanics. Mike, if youre reading this....No, not every garage charges to look over the car, especially a specific issue. No, not every garage charges for extra parts nor do they charge for more than what you can buy it for from the manufacturer direct. I ordered the parts myself from a VW dealership near me, rented a loaner torque wrench from Advanced Auto parts, and finished the job for $50. Also got it aligned at one of your competitors for $70 instead of the $100 you wanted to charge.

Review №68

Im not someone who typically writes reviews, so if I take the time to do so its because Ive experienced either one of the best service or worst service experiences of my life. Unfortunately, having owned vehicles for nearly 35 years, this review is the result of the worst automotive service experience Ive ever been a party to. My wife loves Volkswagen vehicles and she has purchased or leased three vehicles from this dealership in recent years. After a less than satisfactory service experience last year, I asked my wife to consider having her 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan serviced elsewhere, but the dealership is conveniently located, the Service Advisors are courteous and friendly and shes been a loyal customer for years. My patience with the service department began to wear thin last spring when my wife noticed a knocking sound under the hood of her vehicle. I had been particularly careful to monitor her vehicles oil levels because the vehicle had been serviced for oil leaks at Williams the previous year to the tune of $1,600. When she told me of the knocking sound I checked her oil level and it was low. This was odd because her oil had recently been changed and there was no sign of leaks. I suggested to her that her motor must be burning through the oil so she took her vehicle to Williams to determine the issue. Along with a $140. diagnostic charge they told her that the knocking caused a misalignment of her timing chain and that total charges would be $3,200. I drove down to Williams to speak to the service advisor because they still had not diagnosed the problem; why was the motor burning through the oil in the first place? The service advisor spoke with the mechanic and reported back to me that they had know idea why the vehicle had burned through the oil in this way, but stated it wasnt doing it any more. The fact that they could not diagnose the problem or determine if it would reoccur but charge us $3,200 dollars including a diagnostic fee left me with little confidence in them. Fast forward to last week; my wife hears what she believed to be a similar knocking sound coming from her vehicle. Once I got home I checked they oil and her oil level was fine. To be on the safe side we had the vehicle towed to Williams. After a diagnostic check the Service Advisor called my wife stating the vehicles repair needs. She authorized for the repairs and an oil change for a total of $636.00. When notified that her vehicle was ready SHE PICKED IT UP AT 2:00 PM LAST FRIDAY; AT 6:00 PM THAT SAME DAY A WARNING LIGHT IN HER VEHICLE CAME ON WITH THE MASSAGE: STOP! OIL PRESSURE ENGINE OFF! Of course she was shocked and frustrated. she had the vehicle towed back to Williams right away. They kept her vehicle over the weekend and reported back on Tuesday of this week that she needs a new pressure oil sensor and they are charging her another $140.00 diagnostic fee for a total of $219.00. This is an insult and it angers me that the dealership is attempting to take advantage of my wife; the thanks she receives for years of unearned loyalty. HOW IN GOOD FAITH COULD THEY CHARGE HER ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC FEE WHEN THIS LIGHT NEVER APPEARED BEFORE AND CAME ON FOR THE FIRST TIME 4 HOURS AFTER THEY COMPLETED WORK ON THE VEHICLE INCLUDING A COIL AND AN OIL CHANGE?!?!? This is why people have a hard time trusting mechanics. Service departments like this one give all of they others a bad name. Not only will my wife never return to Williams for service, but after driving Volkswagens exclusively for over a decade she has sworn of VW for good.

Before I was able to leave the dealership, he came back to me with a little better rate. I called VW myself and they told me they would approve a 4.9 % interest rate, which I felt was fair and equitable. When I attempted to get in touch with Mr. Richards, on three occassions, he never returned my calls. Apparently Williams Automotive feels as though I have stepped on their toes because I was unwilling to pay the high interest rate that Mr. Richards had offered. I’d intended, of course, to buy another Saturn Vue, a plan that failed when GM eliminated Saturn. I’d heard a lot of positive talk about Subaru – both the car and the service. A relative in vermont swore by the brand, a friend at work felt the same way, I stopped people in parking who has Subaru’s and they were always happy to tell me how happy there were, often adding they were on their 2nd or 3rd or 4 th or 5th Subaru, and highly recommending both the car and the service. I didn’t think I’d find a replacement for the Vue, and especially the car buying service. But I did ! I do NOT recommend getting your VW fixed here! They drove my 2003 Jetta around for an hour and a half, gave it a car wash, and charged me $120 just to tell me that I needed to replace my ignition coils and that my transmission was fine. Took my Jetta to a family run business that works on VW transmissions and they replaced three parts in my transmission. Williams Auto World would have charged me over $500 to replace the ignition coils, I paid $100 elsewhere. Williams Auto World would have charged me up to $3000 for replacing my transmission, I paid less than half that amount to get my transmission fixed. Williams Auto World takes as much of your money as possible claiming they are trying to help you by recommending you fix every small thing before stating what the real problem is. Please dont waste your time and money here!
