These people rock! My local dive shop (in Lousiana) strung me along for 14 months and thousands of dollars, we called Jeff and he agreed to train and certify me the same week. I had an amazing time and learned a lot more (and more practical things than with initial dive shop pool training) such cool people, down to earth, eager to help and teach, fun and genuine. If I had to sum it up I would say highly capable and undeniably genuine. I have made dive friends for life and would not go anywhere else.

Best dive shop and classes in the area. I did private lessons due to scheduling issues, Jeff worked with me to efficiently get all the material dives done on my schedule and time. Hands down best learning experience! I was visiting Houston and had to complete multiple levels of training from basic to advanced and rescue. Jeff was very kind to accommodate to work around my schedule and helped me achieve my goal. We did this by ensuring I met all the requirements to be able to be certified. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly, and they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable learning all the skills. I especially appreciate their policy of no hidden fees; they don’t charge you extra for rental gears while taking classes, nor force you to purchase from them. They truly care about the students and just want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time. Highly recommend!

Jeff trained me, my husband and several friends 13+ years ago. So when it was time for our 10 yo daughter there was no question who to take her to. He and Daniela did an AMAZING job with her! They gave her private lessons so she could get all the attention and help she needed. They made it fun and easy for her. They also had gear that fit her perfectly. Even though it had been a number of years since we had seen him it felt like we were dealing with an old family friend, and I thinkJeff does consider his scuba clients like extended family. He is awesome and I really appreciate the great care he takes with my family.

Daniela was HILARIOUS and made the classroom portion entertaining and informative.I was a little nervous about taking the mask off and regulator out underwater but Will was so patient and took out his little whiteboard and wrote “you can do it!” - and I did!Great place to get your cert bc the lake is on-site. 100% recommend for a fun weekend with friends.

I promised Jeff Id leave a good review if he told me his dirtiest joke, and he delivered! But seriously, it was a fantastic class with instructors that didnt waste your time and instead focused on getting you in the water so that you could learn to dive. Overall its a great location, great instructors, and probably very family friendly if they need to be. Probably.

From the second I came in to the second I came out I was in tears from laughter. Jeff and his staff made getting a scuba license fast, fun, and easy. With a great teacher like Jeff, no one leaves his class failing or, even worse, bored. During the following days our diving instructor, Will, gave clear, thorough instructions before and during our dives which made understanding hand signals and important know abouts like clearing masks and removing and putting back the regulator underwater muscle memory. Even though the water is murky, it prepares you for the worst if going elsewhere. Getting my certification was a great experience and will recommend taking the class here 7 days out of the week.

We have used maximum scuba for the last 4 years. I have been open water and advanced open water certified by Jeff Gordon, my sons have open water through Will, advanced open through Jeff and my youngest son just completed rescue with Jeff. I will be taking rescue soon and my son plans on starting divemaster soon. Great place to get certifications, advance your skills with new technical classes or just brush up on your existing skills. My daughter turns ten next year and can’t wait to get her certification!Many shops make you buy their equipment just to take classes where Jeff doesn’t care if you bring your own or use his rental equipment. Give them a call and get underwater!

My son and I completed their 3 day basic open water certification. The instruction was great and tailored to the needs of the class. We had a large class so we were split into 2 groups but the Instructor/student ratio was still almost 1:1. The lake itself has pretty poor visibility but there were plenty of fun things to see and interact with during the dives. I highly recommend this course for people like me who dont have 2 free weekends required by most every other dive shop in south and central Texas

My two sons, ages 20 and 12, got dive certified in mid-March over 3 days from Maximum SCUBA. Their instructor Jeff was outstanding... He was patient and his easy demeanor and “not in a hurry” attitude made our kids feel at ease. They supplied an extra instructor for the open water dive, which was awesome since Jeff could focus on my 12 year old. The water was very cold but they decked them out with thick wetsuits - my younger actually had on two! - and it wasn’t an issue. The kids did great and are looking forward to diving with us in the ocean - as soon as possible! Thank you for the great experience.

I have such a great time at Maximum Scuba getting my open water cert with Jeff Gordon and Will Everman. These guys were super fun and have tons and tons of experience. They were always looking out for the interests of their students and never tried to up-sell me on a bunch of gear just to make a buck. The atmosphere during the classes was amazing, but they didnt sacrifice hitting all the marks for training in the name of keeping things casual. I felt completely safe in their hands during the training dives, and Im definitely going to keep in touch with them about all my future dives. Im sure Ill get my advanced cert with them in the near future.

Really enjoyed the class. It was a major plus getting to do the academics and then walking 50’ to the lake and doing the water portion. Jeff and Will were great instructors and the young lady helping out was very knowledgeable too.

My PADI open water class was fantastic! Jeff Gordon, the master diver instructor, took a very no stress approach to teaching. It felt like I was being taught by a good friend! He has great people skills and is good at teaching you what you need to know to get in the water and feel comfortable and confident. He made the class fun, allowing students to ask questions and go at a comfortable pace. In the water you felt complete trust and that you were in the hands of a professional! The lake you dive in is literally right outside of your classroom… And all your equipment usage is included with the training, so you don’t have to come out of pocket for anything upfront. His staff was friendly and professional! We all had meals together and shared stories and laughs. Great training and very good people! Highly recommend :)

I cant tell you how good they are or not, we never got the opportunity to find out. I emailed them 4 weeks ago, wanting to book a minimum of 10 people to take PADI Discover Scuba at $95 a person, With at least 2 of them interested in moving forward into the beginning Scuba. After 2 weeks I called, no answer but I left a detailed message, I received no returned phone call. I found another Dive Shop that was more than Happy to assist us and for less. I can say I feel like maybe people should consider trying some place else.

Completed the Open Water Diving certification 3 weekends ago (starting on Friday) with my dad. Jeff, the instructor who runs the course/training, is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of scuba diving and is truly a master at his craft. Jeff, and his assistant instructor Jason, clearly explained each skill that would be necessary to safely dive while enjoying the one-of-a-kind experience. He patiently helped us through a variety of different skills (mask skills, entree into water, exiting the water, etc.) and was very receptive to any and all questions we had. He ensured we were confident and comfortable with each skill prior to moving to the next one. The training consisted of practice dives in the pool as well as the lake where the company building is located. The training requires thorough reading of the PADI Open Water Diving manual prior to practical training starting (the practice dives themselves).Overall, very satisfied with the quality and cost of the training, as Jeff and his team are the best of the best. 5/5 stars!Note: I was actually able to put the skills and training to the test the following weekend in Costa Rica on my first open water dive outside of training (#5 overall including training). Needless to say, my dad and I were both able to fit right in with the pack of more experienced divers seamlessly given the confidence we had after completely the certification with Jeff.

The instructors are informative and patient. Definitely give you a sense of calm if you have any anxiety. Thay also make it a fun experience!

Jeff is a very experienced dive instructor and has a knack for making complicated, dry, and critically important information easy to understand by putting the information into readily understandable terms and thus easier to remember. He cuts to the chase!Taking the class is more like hanging out with friends and family, so there’s no pressure, which makes learning the information much less stressful.

Took the open water class with Jeff and Daniela. It was amazing. They are so caring and awesome teachers. Friendly atmosphere and low pressure. They will walk you through all of the essential knowledge so well that you will feel comfortable to dive as soon as you are done with the course. They teach you what to do when things go wrong and make you practice it so you do not feel uncomfortable when it does. I was lucky enough to have scheduled a trip to Cozumel 2 weeks following the class and incidentally they were going at the same time. We ended up diving with them in Cozumel and they were so patient and made us feel comfortable on our first ocean dives. If you ever had the inclination to try out scuba get certified with them you will not regret it and will be happy you went to them. Also they have a great dive shop and will help you get outfitted in nice affordable equipment. I will be going back for my advanced open water and hopefully dive master.

Maximum Scuba is amazing the dive master Jeff Gordon and his team are awesome and keeps you educated through all the 3 day courses. Their guidence and patients is perfect for new and even seasoned divers if questions are asked it is encouraged, just enjoyed all about my experience being new to diving, dont ever be afraid to say Im unsure being safe and secure in your water environment is very important. Jeff and Daniela are fantastic instructors. I signed up for the PADI Open Water certification course. We covered a ton of material all while keeping it interesting. Not an easy feat.. They emphasized the importance of knowing the ins and outs of your equipment. What to do when something fails, how to remedy, and to not panic. I felt super comfortable on my first dive thanks to them. They take their time to make sure you are 100% comfortable before advancing and will spend as much time as needed on any topic you may require. I highly recommend them!

I couldn’t speak more highly of Maximum Scuba. The first day was a struggle for me because I couldn’t get my anxiety in control. Jeff and Daniela were so empathetic. Jeff couldn’t have been a better instructor to get me feeling comfortable and certified. He trained me one on one and was so patient with me all weekend and knew when I just needed a breather and to take things at my own pace. I’m so much more comfortable in the water with equipment now and can’t wait to move on to advanced training to get more experience!My husband had a blast and was able to go off with other instructors to move forward at a faster pace with his certification. I had the best time at Maximum Scuba today. I felt like I was at the lake with my best friends. I laughed all day while learning how to safely dive. They could easily see my beginners level and adjusted the learning to my speed. When we got in the water we practiced needed skills slowly and when we felt we could go under water with confidence we had 3 experts there to help guide and watch us. It was personalized with only 3 students there. I’m not sure if I loved the people or playing with the fish more. I have the highest recommendation for Maximum Scuba and their staff on providing a safe, professional, and FUN environment to earn underwater certifications! I have completed two courses through Maximum Scuba, open water diver & advanced open water diver, and cannot recommend their business enough. Classroom instruction was delivered in an engaging format with ample opportunities to ask clarifying questions. Practical/water instruction had excellent pre-dive briefings, covering all details of the dive and target training objectives. Equipment rentals were included with both courses and all gear was very well maintained. Instructors were able to adjust the pace of instruction based on the progress of the class and were quick to identify any students who were nervous and needed additional words and/or demonstrations to bolster their confidence. At no time did I feel like the students were held to a predetermined pacing. Instructors adjusted all lessons to meet the needs of the students. If more pool time was required, they accommodated. If more time was needed to cover a lesson, they adjusted without missing a beat. I loved the fact that when I struggled on a concept or practical demonstration, I never felt rushed to move on.Beyond the technical aspects, the environment and sense of camaraderie Maximum Scuba creates on all excursions is fantastic! The pride in their work and training those interested in diving is palpable and refreshing. They want to share the experience with as many people as possible and are dedicated to helping each diver pursue their path in diving (whether that be for recreation, technical diving, or becoming a Master Diver or Instructor). Great experience for my beginner open water diving course. The dive masters are fun and knowledgeable. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable and you do not have to buy your own gear. This is hands-down the best place to get your SCUBA certifications.

I went from zero experience, to full confidence underwater after day two. Jeff makes you feel like he is really with you during the dive. He knows how to read the diver and challenges you in the most encouraging way possible. Though the book helps you understand safety and procedure, your confidence in diving comes from being in the water, which is where you will spend the majority of you time. I had a great experience and I am trying to get more of my friends to get certified so we can have a dive adventure somewhere soon.

I have to admit that I was nervous about it, but Jeff Gordon, his wife, and Steve made my experience amazing and relaxed and confident. I cant wait to get back in the water and gain some more experience. Thank you guys for everything!!

Just finished a weekend getting PADI certified with Maximum scuba! Could not have asked for a better experience! Jeff and Daniela are AWESOME instructors. Scuba comes second nature when you’re being taught by the best of the best. On top of it, they’re both just genuinely good people with a passion for scuba and teaching their students. I would go with them a hundred times over again. Thanks again for the amazing experience! We look forward to growing our skills and taking more classes with you in the future!

This place is a great scuba experience!! Daniella and Jeff are both excellent teachers and truly care about making each person feel confident and learning at your own pace. The classes are small and they offer a hands on experience that is worth every penny! You can see their true passion in diving and helping educate future divers with care! I give them ten stars!!

I thoroughly enjoy taking classes and diving with Maximum Scuba. It is a relaxed atmosphere and the instructors are very patient and attentive. They are easy to talk to and make you feel at home. While there is no pressure to purchase equipment, their prices are very reasonable with plenty of help determining what is best for the individual diver.

Me and my wife got certified here and we cant recommend this shop highly enough. Jeff and Daniela were awesome and we feel confident about the skills we learned. We were in a small class of 6 people and they were able to work around our schedules to get all the training and dives in before we left for our trip. We will be coming back for our Advanced Open Water certification.

Just finished my Advanced Open Water with Jeff, Daniella and Jason and couldn’t have been more pleased with the experience. The folks at Maximum are a great group to be around and learn from. Very accommodating to your schedule and willing to spend whatever time is required for each individual to feel comfortable. Can’t wait to do my Rescue Diver with Maximum.

Jeff and Daniella were awesome. My wife and I had a great time learning to dive with them! Class was very informative without being overwhelming. In the water is where their teaching really shined. My wife an I had an amazing experience. The team genuinely wants you to learn and be confident in the water. Not only did they follow the PADI requirements, they made sure you are comfortable while diving. We purchased our next level of training before leaving our first one. This place is the only choice for scuba!

10/10 recommend! Went for our scuba diving cert. Don’t go anywhere else! Everyone is so welcoming and makes you feel like apart of the family. The funniest people to be around and honestly just made the whole thing easy. Jeff and Daniella went over and beyond taking care of us, couldn’t thank them enough. They will even go at your pace, mine was very slow. They even recommended tons of restaurants, bars, and activities for our trip to Cozumel.

I had a great time learning from Jeff and Daniella. I previously had a small amount of scuba experience but in my class with them they made me even more comfortable in the water and with what I know. Also they were very willing to work around my schedule which I am extremely grateful for. Amazing instructors and an all around great time.

Jeff and his team are awesome. They worked with me to go over the skills I needed to finish my certification and were flexible with my schedule. Him and his team are very patient and laid back while making sure you learn. Scuba can be a little scary at first, so being patient and relaxed is important. Great place to learn!

HIGHLY recommend getting certified here. Jeff and his team made the environment incredibly comfortable. These guys really help to get rid of any anxiety that you may have. I feel so confident with SCUBA and I attribute that to the individual training and attitude of the staff that fostered a rich learning environment.

What an awesome experience! My wife and I have been wanting to learn how, and get certified to dive for years, and I’m so glad that when we finally pulled the trigger, we were lucky enough to have Jeff Gordon as our instructor. He really took extra steps to make sure that we were comfortable with what we were doing, and even more importantly that we were having fun while we were learning. I’m telling you right now, if you are wanting to learn, or farther your knowledge about diving GO SEE JEFF! This was such an awesome experience!!! Everyone was incredibly fun to be around and helped us with everything possible. Our scuba instructor, Jeff, was just the best. He was extremely informative and knowledgeable about his expertise, and he was a great teacher. And most of all, we are now safely certified scuba divers!!! I definitely recommend this scuba shop for any and all of your scuba needs.

I recently did a refresher course with them while my dad and my niece were getting certified. It was a great experience. They made me feel comfortable diving again and they were so good with my niece who is 14! I would highly recommend Maximum Scuba to anyone who wants to learn in a fun, relaxed atmosphere!

Couldn’t have had a better cert experience! For someone with first time diving nerves like me, Jeff was so patient and funny throughout the whole process. The staff are super knowledgeable, friendly, and easy going. If you’re thinking about getting into diving - this is the place to go!!!

Jeff, Daniela, and team are excellent at customer service and teaching. Jeff explains everything clearly and makes sure it is understood. Daniela made sure I had everything I needed for the open water training. Other team members were present to assist. I flew from Kansas City to Houston just to have Maximum Scuba complete my open water training. I really like that the shop is on the lake to make a convenient experience. You cant go wrong with these guys. I do not give five stars lightly.

Open water diver certification class was extremely helpful and enjoyable. Jeff and Daniela are phenomenal instructors and passionate about their craft. If you need any diver certifications, refresher courses, or want to learn more about diving, this is the place.

Jeff at Maximum Scuba is the place to go to get scuba certified. Jeff along with his dive masters Walt and Val make learning how to dive safe but most of all fun. Lake Longhorn is a fun place to learn how to dive. They have lots of sunken treasures to learn how to dive around and navigate. I took some younger kids with me when I got certified. Jeff takes his time teaching kids so that nothing is missed and keeps them interested that is what scuba is about having fun. Jeff is professional and a hoot at the same time. GO SEE HIM! GET WET! HAVE A BLAST!

This is the best place to get your certification, they are fun, professional and knowledgeable. Jeff and Daniela really honor their statement: Scuba diving is our way of life. They will do anything to accommodate you and make sure you feel safe and comfortable. I have seen them working with children, young adults, adults and seniors, and they know how to approach each one of them. Jeff and Daniela took the time to dissipate my fear and anxiety.
