Sub zero is a totally different, and totally superior, ice cream experience. Like other places, you can customize your base flavors and mix-ins, but at sub zero they you start with a liquid cream base and the entire mixture is rapidly cooled with liquid nitrogen. The result is a super creamy and smooth ice cream that you really can’t run anywhere else. Totally love it.
They were great here. We came during a rush and they did a great job getting through all of us. My son has a peanut allergy and they were very good about making sure he was safe. Rocky took great care of us!They have options for certain diet restrictions: lactose free, almond milk (vegan), and sugar free. The science is fascinating!
A great experience for families to bond and watch science combine with a tasty treat at the end of the week. Great proportions and tasted really good. The two girls that took our order and made our ice cream were really nice and did a great job, the only thing that’s holding me back from leaving a 5 star review is that there was another employee on their phone behind the counter with her friends which made me a little disappointed because they shouldn’t be responsible to have a job if their priorities while working are their friends. But in the end it was a great experience and will be back soon for more memories with my family.
This was so much fun. We had never been to anywhere like this. There was only one worker and the poor girl had to make the ice cream herself. The ice cream was good and it was something fun to do.
I had a pretty disappointing experience at this location on a Thursday. I waited at the counter for a SOLID seven minutes before awkwardly peaking behind the counter and into the back room where the two staff members on duty were talking. They came out, kind of apologized and took our order. I then sat down and ate the ice cream, which was more expensive than it was worth. I watched the same exact waiting period happen with another customer where no one was attending the counter and they had to peak into the back room to get the girls’ attention.
Absolutely fantastic! It is simply sad that the ones in Layton and Ogden are gone. This ice cream has always been spectacular, and today was no exception. I was quite pleased with my order.Ive been advised that Ogden has returned... Sweet!
Cool concept the customer service was horrible though I e girl was working while the other two where in the back talking keeping me and other customers waiting. When we got our treats and went to sit down we noticed all the tables where dirty so I asked one of the girls if she could wipe the table and she agreed with an attitude and the whole time the other two where on there phone behind the counter. Made us feel like we where a bother.
Romolo was working and he was great to talk to, super friendly and nice, and put a lot of effort into making our orders great both in flavor and aesthetically. He even asked if I my shake was too strong and offered to remake it if it was.Great service, love this place.
Came here for the first time on a Saturday night in December and it was empty. I mean, this is Utah and everyone loved ice cream all year round, so I wasn’t sure why this place had no customers on the weekend. Came with a big group of family and it was a different experience to watch how they made ice cream here - provided a bit of entertainment while we waited for our frozen treats. The price was a bit pricey - maybe that’s why they don’t get a lot of traffic? The flavors were OK and they didn’t have much of a presentation with the ice cream they handed us. It wasn’t “rolled up” nicely. The decor inside wasn’t super inviting in my opinion, was lacking something that made people want to lounge a bit longer. Customer service was subpar and they can def do a bit better to make the customer feel more welcome.
Typically a good experience in the past.... Last weekend there was an employee that was letting her friends goof off and she would join them at the tables rather than working. She also allowed them to use the register, walk behind the counter, and back in to the kitchen and ride their scooters and skateboards in the store constantly. One family left before ordering that night. All quite unprofessional. The most upsetting is she make my ice cream (which was great) and then her friend make my wifes! I assumed he was an employee but then after we sat down, i noticed him messing around with her friends, didnt have a mask on, no sub-zero hat or shirt on and realized he didnt even work there! He left on his skateboard with half the friend group a short while later. This was infuriating and I we ended up not eating our desserts and leavening in unbelief of what happened. I am sure that wasnt his first time making a dessert. I understand its a fun place to be and it will be loud, but there was more than just some unprofessional behaviors that night. Management should be aware and I hope this wouldnt happen again.
This was my first time in this store. The ice cream was good but I was very disappointed with how the store in run with its employees. We waited 50 minutes to get our ice cream. There were only two employees working while the line was all the way to the front door, a number of customers were upset and some just walked away. One of the employees while customers waited went out in the back to take selfie’s of himself. One of the employees also dropped a number cups which he picked up and quickly put them back on the counter to and used to serve other customers. I hope this review helps owners of this store to train its employees be more professional. I wish my review would be more positive but as a business owners myself, I’m always appreciate candid honest feedback. The Ice cream (product) earns a 5 start review on my opinion, but given the lack of professionalism took it down to 1😔
I went in last night, great service, Eliza served my ice cream she did great and she definitely deserves a raise!
He was kind he was willing to talk with us and he explained each thing That was going into the desserts and was completely friendly and totally cool and talked about himself and where he’s from. He was super kind and we loved his service he’s from Brazil and told us what he liked about it and what he didn’t like about it knows how to serve a good amount too. Definitely worth going here!!!
Date of Visit: 4/16/2018OVERVIEW - 4.40Came here on a whim to celebrate my wifes birthday a day early with Ice Cream. We had seen this place as of lately, I think it was opened the previous month or so.LOCATION - 5Mixed in with those other businesses in the Strip Mall, it isnt to hard to miss if youre looking. It also helps that there are so many surrounding businesses in this once vacant field.PRICE - 3For a small ice cream for myself, my wife and child, it came out to be around $15. I honestly found the price a little steep for my liking, especially considering I could buy a gallon of ice cream for around $5. I do, however, understand there is a process and with the use of nitrogen, it can be costly.PRODUCT/SERVICE - 4I myself am lactose intolerant, so I was concerned thatd be an issue, but I was informed their vegan style ice cream contained no milk. So that is what I went with, however, it did include coconut milk, (Im not much of a fan of the coconut flavor). I did drown out the taste of coconut with a lemon strawberry blend in my ice cream, and I loved the tartness behind it.POINTERS/PERKS - 5Dragons Breath is a lot of fun, especially if there is more than one person. I however found we didnt eat them all, and the steam had died out as we ate our own ice creams before they melted.EMPLOYEES - 5The manager served us and was incredibly friendly, and patient. The employees were professional and wore clean uniforms.
This is my favorite ice cream place!! I love how you can tailor the ice cream to however you want it to be, starting at the very base. No other ice cream store that I know of offers this! My son loves to see the nitrogen mist rolling off the counter and it provides a great experience to watch the ice-cream being made right in front of your eyes. The staff is on top of it, especially the Manager Romullo, He is very attentive to the customers needs. I love that I can see their friendly smiles and hear them better without masks and with how frequently they are washing their hands and sanitizing the area, I feel extremely satisfied with their high level of hygiene practices. Thanks for making this such a great experience!
I love it a lot, employees are great and so is the ice cream.
Awful. One tiny bowl with one mix in is $5.50 and the texture is harder than regular ice cream. Its so sweet you can hardly taste the actual flavors. My milk shake was so watered down it just felt like ice cold milk and again sickly sweet. The kids enjoyed the smoke from the nitrogen process but that was the only plus. Cold stone or baskin robind is SOOOOO much better. Not worth even half the price.
Best ice cream and service in town! My favorite flavor is number 3 Bernoulli Brulee!
The youthful employees are enthusiastic and desire to provide customer service but it is obvious they are woefully under trained and have no on sight supervisor with experience. The nitrogen is a cool gimmick. The ice cream is not more than average.
This is my favorite ice cream shop, and the staff at this location is very nice and friendly! ALSO! They have VEGAN options! I was very happy about that because I have developed a lactose intolerance and have been frustrated with not being able to eat ice cream ): I’m very happy and will come again!
It was super yummy!! Eliza and Rocky are the coolest! They were super helpful :) Definitely recommend!!
After a cancelled plan in Lehi my boyfriend and I found ourselves near Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice cream. We decided to go in. There were so many options and we were completely confused. The employees were so excited to explain and help us understand. They were quick and so friendly. The price is great for an ice cream place. We ordered a small and shared it as well as the dragon balls. The sizing was great and the flavor was amazing, probably the best ice cream I’ve ever had. The dragon balls were so fun and tasty with chocolate sauce. After complementing the employees they asked if we had any suggestions for them because they want to be able to improve. Overall a great experience. Felt cared about by the employees and had a delicious treat!
Sabrina! That was the name of our server and she was an absolute delight. Not only was she very pleasant but the Grasshopper shake that I had, and the ice cream my partner in crime had, were both top notch. The entire process from beginning to end is right in front of you including the ice cream being frozen with nitrogen. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cool refreshing delight in a prompt and cheerfully professional manner!
Eliza was amazing even though her manager left while they were busy give her a raise!
They came to my school and it was so good
Tried to go here. They were closed in the middle of the day because they had run out of nitrogen. I don’t want to leave a negative review as I didn’t get to have much of an experienced the guy working was very apologetic about the issue. Overall what service was given was excellent! Thanks hopefully you’ll be able to serve me soon.
Such a fun place to bring the family and the ice cream is delicious
The ice cream was just okay. It was a little frustrating to see every worker there wasnt wearing a mask. I understand if they dont expect that from customers but when handling food, it seems a little lazy and inconsiderate.
So we walked in, People were just sitting around and i think his name was rocky and he said were closed? what? hes mean he should be fired.
I absolutely love this ice cream!! I have stopped in and also had delivery. Just checking in now and I see that there are no delivery options available any longer. I wonder why? I need delivery! No car and I am really really craving one of their fabulous concoctions!@
Ice cream was delicious but the size was sad. We ordered medium and there were barely 2 baby scoops, somewhat watery trying to peak out of the cup - unsuccessfully. Somewhat disappointing for the price of $6.25 per person. This was our first time visiting this place and probably last time. Sad - because it tasted good but not worth the money.
Ice cream was delicious. Fun idea. The wait was way too long. They only had one person working though. I imagine if it was properly staffed it would be worth the time, but we waited around 40min for ice cream.
We came in around dinner time and there was only one other family there initially. The place was clean and quiet. Staff was helpful and friendly. The three of us were able to share a large creation and couldnt finish it and was just under $8. The ice cream was very good. Only loses a star as parking can be tough at times it seems.
Really friendly staff, fun experience
One of my favorite ice cream shops ever! I have been going to Sub Zero since the beginning. I’ve followed them from Orem to American Fork, Provo, and now Draper. Same amazing product no matter the location. Worth going to every time!! Super fun and great tasting. They make the ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Such a cool experience!
Went in for my birthday tonight. First encounter was awful enough to write a review which I typically don’t do. We walked in waiting in line happily with my family. The next second a guy with a cooler hits the back of my knee and rudely says “ excuse you “ I move and ask for his his name it was Mike. Then our server Maddie quickly steps up and happily asks what we are looking at and if we have any questions. She turned the night around and was absolutely amazing! Happy cheerful and absolutely loves what she is doing! She turned this review from a 1 ( 0 if it was possible) into a 5. Our ice cream and dragon breathe was awesome! So thankful they have employees like Maddie at that store! 💕
This was my first time and I really enjoyed it. I had there pre designed set of peanut butter cup and it was just what youd expect for peanut butter cup ice cream. I got it in there large size which ended up being more than I had expected because it was piled high above the cup. What really gets them the 5 star rating though is their waffle bowls. I loved the waffle cone! Great texture and awesome flavor!
A lot of people like subzero for the wow factor the liquid nitrogen gives, but that only lasts one visit (unless you are a kid).I like subzero because the taste and texture is different than any other ice cream. It isn’t my favorite place by any means but I enjoy going every now and then.Great gluten-free and soy options. This particular location was clean with a friendly staff.
Fun place and delicious ice cream. A little pricey for ice cream but the experience is very fun. We got the strawberry one and it was so good! Good size servings
Easily the best subzero I’ve been to. The location was clean and the owner was so friendly and helpful with selections. I’ve been looking for a dairy free option, which they had and it tasted delicious. We will be going more regularly.
Have never been disappointed here. Delicious and creamy without fail, every time. I usually go for a huckleberry shake because not enough places in the area offer huckleberry anything, but also because its the best milkshake Ive ever had.
Overwhelmed, but cool.Nice place, tastey novelty. It was difficult to decide what to get. The menu was overwhelming to look over.My boys (6&9y) were very impressed as they watched the dishes being made. Could easily decide to take family/friends for a visit.
ELIZA AND ROCKY ARE SUPER DOPE
This was my first time trying sub zero. I was really surprised by the cleanliness of the location. The staff was really nice, and welcoming.I got a #1.. from looking at everything I thought it would of taken a longer time, but it was really fast .. defiantly my favorite ice cream place! We will be back soon!
Really great service and delicious!
Owner and employees are AMAZING! We had this Sub Zero location cater our wedding and they made everything nice and easy for us. We got 3 different flavors and everyone was very excited to see them there. EVERYONE loved the ice cream and was amazed of how it was made. Highly recomend this location!
I have always enjoyed subzero ice cream. It is always very delicious and extremely customizable. The Italian ice, which apparently is only offered at this location, tastes really weird and has a bad texture. But I won’t let that fault the amazing ice cream from the home grown Utah’s own ice cream shop.
A Zero review if possible. Was at Primary Childrens for 3 days with my daughter and the only thing she wanted when we were released was SubZero because they are the only ice cream that is dairy free. Well 3 hours waiting to leave hospital we were finally on the road. Got to this location at 8:55. All of the chairs were already on top of the tables. Probably about 15 customers sitting or standing since all chairs were up. I walked in because I thought there was a private party... Not... So since the door was open I told my daughter that it was OK to get out of the car.. Which was difficult for her. I looked at the counter and the 2 girls were starring at me and one said we are closed. Really? It was not 9pm yet and the door was open with lots of customers inside. Long story short I have a disappointed daughter from a franchise that needs to let the customers know they come first and not a clock.
Personally not a fan, nor was my family. The flavors are interesting. Cool novelty, not good ice cream or cones though.
The place was not that busy, service was fast and taste was good. My son had fun watching the staff using the nitrogen gas to make the ice cream.
They were able to serve up delicious ice cream for my son who is dairy & gluten free without a problem. Excellent products for everyone regardless of diet or health restrictions. Loved our experience there.
Loved it! I got their italian ice. Perfect for a hot summer day! Ever since Ritas went out of business Ive been looking for a place that sells Italian ice. I was not disappointed.
We had one of those text coupons, which this location doesnt honor so we just paid full price. The waffle cone was super stale and gross. The service was okay and the ice cream was good.
I was over the moon when I found out this place was opening just up the street from my work! Im an ice cream addict and its safe to say I visit at least twice a week. The employees are wonderful and the owner always makes my visits phenomenal!
My wife and I happened by during their science class and decided we should bring the kids. They loved it and they just kept asking questions after the class. Its a great opportunity to see science and innovation come together, not to mention that because of how they make it, the ice cream is healthier and has a treuer taste. This is now a family favorite.
This is an awesome restaurant. The food is great but the experience is even better! Bring your family especially your kids they will have a great time
This is the best Sub Zero in Utah! The store looks great and they have a menu with more yummy food items than any other SZ store. They have kolachies, ice cream cookies, shakes, smoothies, sodas, and the best ice cream in the world. Bring a camera to take some pictures and videos as you witness your ice cream created right before your eyes.
Love sub zero. Really yummy, a little pricey but it’s worth it. Clean new location, the employees were nice, but a little unprofessional, they were just on their phone while taking our order and were not happy to be there, but other than that, great place!
We love this place! Great ice cream and friendly, quick service
We loved it!!! They have so many options that theres something for everyone. Watching the while process is amazing!Totally coming back to try other flavours!
Went right before closing and the staff was very friendly and helpful! Great experience and delicious ice cream! You have to try the frozen cereal balls!
Best Icecream Ive had in a long time, and with welcoming employes who enjoy showing you how it works.
I like the fact that I can choose a non dairy option. Taste really fresh too.
Finally I get a Sub Zero close to where I work. Tried the Turkey Dinner kolache for lunch. It had turkey and stuffing and cranberry. So good. Glad youve opened up here, guys.
Enjoyed the new Subzero Grand Opening here at Traverse Mountain! This shop not only carries their signature ice cream (can be made with milk alternatives) but also Kolaches and cookies made with their manager’s family recipe. The Kolaches come in sweet or savory...both DELICIOUS 😋 The kids really enjoy the Dragons Breath 🐲 . So many fun yummy and unique goodies at this Subzero. So glad it’s close to home! Go check it out!!
This is the worst ice cream I have ever had. I got the low-fat cream and it was like ice/pebbles. I had to send it back and have it remade with the original cream. The texture was better. I still think it is overpriced for the quality. Id prefer a ColdStone or frozen yogurt place.
Not only was the ice cream really good, but this ice cream was being made with liquid nitrogen which is very fascinating!
I got a jalapeno egg and ham kolache from the new Sub-Zero at traverse mountain this morning and it was delicious. Cant wait to take my wife there for a treat.
Very very accommodating. The frozen dessert was very tasty, they worked around our family allergies, and they were super nice.
Went there this morning at 7am to be the first customer on opening day it didn’t open after waiting for 1hr. And a half.😥 However I have been to others places of theirs and love the ice cream. If I can’t be the first in, then I’ll be the first 5 star review!
I love subzero... so delicious!! The Traverse Mountain area just opened up and im excited.
Super yum guys. Get the custard if you want ice cream unlike anything you’ve ever had in your life.
I wish that this ice cream taste better. I feel bad for whoever franchised this location.
Fascinating! Its really cool to watch (pardon the pun) and the ice cream tastes great. Im not normally fond of ice cream, but I loved this stuff.
Had the best vegan chocolate & cookie dough ice cream Ive ever had! Ok, honestly it was a first for that combo, but was soooo good and creamier than expected. Looking forward to trying more flavors.
Love the ice cream here. So good!
Flavors are fake-tasting, but otherwise it was tasty and nice.
The place is great!!! You get the best icecream and great service. Thank you guys very much.
Delicious! Staff were friendly and courteous to my kids and me. The place was clean and comfortable.
First time. Amazing. Definitely try it.
This sub zero is the best location i’ve ever been too in utah. Their store is clean, they have friendly employees, and they even have a “vegan cream” option.
3 stars only because how are you going to have an ice cream shop and be out of waffle cones! You just opened for the day and you’re not stocked?
The ice cream was wonderfully cold
So, can I have the Oreo milk shake again ? Its delicious !!!!
Get with the program and get stevia! Your southern Utah location has the right idea.
Really good ice cream, and the kolaches are amazing!! Definitely 5 stars.
Fun way to get your customized ice cream fix.
Not worth $7 for the amount of ice cream given. Cool place overall but i feel you could get cheaper, better, and more ice cream, at other commercial ice cream places.
Fantastic customer service. Very friendly, answered questions thoroughly.
The ameretto is awesome, it keeps me coming back for more.
Always a good choice for a freshly mixed up ice cream in a waffle. Last time I tried their breakfast kolaches; loved them.
First time to this location. I went on a Friday after lunch and there was no line. The tables were all clean and the display monitors got me exactly to where I needed to be; the Mint Chocolate Chip. Having been to a Sub Zero many times, I was a little disappointed in the flavor as well as the new-to-Sub-Zero members of my party werent given a demonstration of the Nitrogen pooling up on the granite counter. The other franchises I have went to have given some sort of welcome; not this one.
This is my favorite place, the cotton candy ice cream never dissapoints! :)
It is the creamiest ice cream I have ever had!
Good customer service. Location wasnt too busy, and the service was fast.
The ice cream is great and the kola chief are even better.
So it is 8:45 and the doors were locked, why put stores hours if you are not going to honor them. The personnel was just siting on the chairs waiting for 9 o’clock
