I dont live very close but I am willing to make the hour and a half drive! Bought a awesome Yamaha bass from here a few months ago. I told the man my price and he hooked me up with the coolest cherry red Yamaha bass! Good prices and great service!

I honestly wasn’t expecting a good experience when I went to have my old guitar fixed up for my daughter. But Louis was great and treated us very well. He gave us a lot of advice and pointed us in the right direction without trying to make us spend a fortune. They have my business for life because of him and I highly recommend anyone go there for help.

Normally Id say 4-star, but today wasnt their best. Ive been there several times and purchased often. Ill definitely go back. But if theyre doing inventory, Ill turn around and leave - not worth the headache.

These guys are awesome and their pedal club is amazing. I have two daily drivers on my board that Im renting thanks to Doo Wop Shop. Go visit and see what theyve got, you can rent and buy. Their buy prices arent bad, but their rental prices are pretty reasonable.

Doo Wop Shop is awesome. They have great stuff and theyre good people. And Jason Groves has one of the nicest studios around. All in all its a good deal to check them out.

Was in there a few days ago in search of a special type of truss rod wrench. They didnt have any for sale (as a stock) but did sell me one from their tool supply. We chatted for a bit; very friendly and helpful.The tool was too small.... however they did direct me to a website that has what I need. Thats pretty cool if you ask me. Its probably the reason when i played in a band; i would rent stage gear from em. Good Local Business- support em.Thanks guys.

I am very disappointed with the customer service. I would give a 0 rating if it was available. I rented a piece of equipment with the expressed intent to purchase. When the wireless battery stopped working I was told that they had to send it out for a new battery, my rental agreement was closed out and they told me to come back next week and we could work it out. I had spent over $400 and was willing to pay for the new battery and any remaining balance. The first time I returned I was told the equipment wasnt back and to come back again. The second time I returned I was given a beat up version of the same model I was renting all to discover it was broken when I got home. I Immediately got back in the car and took it back and was treated like a nuisance by the staff with crazy staring and eye rolling. Finally when I began to get upset and told them I had spent over $400 they offered me an older piece of equipment that was literally falling apart. At first I asked for a refund of the remaining balance I had paid but after thinking about it I felt like I was getting ripped off. The staff stood around staring at me sullenly waiting for me to leave. I said I know you have something comparable that works that we can trade out and I possibly pay the difference. I was referring to the shelf full of working models that turned out to be way below the cost of what I had spent on the equipment. Did I mention the working equipment was available on visit number 1 but no one wanted to do the right thing. So I finally left with working equipment. I will never step foot in the place again.

These guys are tremendously helpful and thoroughly know their stuff. All of the employees seem to be equally well equipped to help customers determine what they are needing from public performances and events to personal equipment purchases. The rental prices my church paid for the speaker/ subwoofer/ wireless mic were quite reasonable, and the equipment performed even better than we could have asked for. I would not hesitate to recommend the shop to anyone. I definitely will be going back the next time I need anything.

My wife and daughter and I bought a uke bass from this store (Lexington) on Monday. The sales people were about the most hostile and angry I have met in my many, many visits to music stores. We could not understand why at all. We were pleasant and agreeable customers.

Have been shopping at Doo Wop for years. The prices are very competitive, and have purchased more than one guitar there and continue to go back, to shop and try out different guitars. The staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable. They also have independent teachers giving lessons on site.

For the musician without a lot off cash, or if you just want to try something out before you buy it.. this is the place to go. I dont know what the last reviewer was talking about. I have been able to walk in and out with a new instrument in hand within 5 minutes.They have a wide selection of quality instruments.. from band instruments to drums, and guitars, amps, PA, effects pedals, DJ equipment, Lighting.. everything you need! And the prices are the lowest youll find anywhere.I highly recommend this store to all my friends and will continue to do so!

I was basically treated like a criminal while trying to rent a speaker because I accidentally gave my old phone number (which I then corrected). They also had a copy of my credit card and my license but the woman there would not stop insinuating that I was attempting to steal the equipment. I do not appreciate being accused of trying to steal equipment and being “shady”.

Not very customer friendly. They are now charging a $25 fee to reserve equipment, on top of the rental fees. I dont mind putting down a non refundable deposit towards my rental charges, but I dont want to be charged more just because I reserve it.

Equipment is great but the customer service is sub par. I feel like I am a burden and just another person spending money. Unfortinuatly the only other nearby location is Frankfort but their service more than makes up for the drive. This servive deficit is not new nad has been here for at least 4 years. I wont be back if I can help it.

I had a terrible experience renting from the Doo Wop Shop in Lexington. The employees were rude and their rental policy is downright invasive. I rented microphones for our school, which is tax exempt, and they charged tax anyway. They made copies of my drivers license and my personal credit card. I had to authorize a credit check AND have THREE REFERENCES! I have purchased a CAR for about the same procedure! Not only was I offended, but also I felt like my personal information was on display for an identity thief. I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN!!!

Got a sick six string esp ltd rent to own from here. Best bass ive ever played.Service is friendly at the one i go to, selection is a little small on the guitar/orchestral front, but thats probably due to it being orchestra season atm with all the schools renting stuff out.Their selection for bass is pretty good for a small shop, many four strings, 3-7 5 strings, and theres at least 2 six strings still there if i remember right. Was mildly disappointed that they didnt have any extended range guitars, but thats understandable due to them not being the most in demand guitars.They sell strings, guitars, basses, ukes, banjos, resonators, lap steels, and many other stringed instruments. I also saw drums, electronic drums, synths and keys, a keytar, mics, speakers, basically a one stop shop for most things.Will continue going to here as long as im here.
