Injured my right eye to the point where I was in excruciating pain even after visiting the ER the night before.Dr. Matthew did not hold back as he voiced his displeasure with the previously suggested treatment from the ER and quickly corrected the course of treatment. One week later I’m writing this review and giving my utmost recommendation to all as he saw me within a moments notice when no other optometrist would.Not only did he see me in a timely manner, I never felt what I was being prescribed or asked to do to be unnecessary. 6/5 stars!

I had eye surgery (torn retina!) elsewhere, and was cleared by the surgeon to get a new Rx for contacts and glasses. Looking to support Local, I called Clarity Eye Care.The exam seemed fine. The doctor was informed of the retinal repair surgery via both my paperwork and the discussion that we had during the exam.I trialed some contacts and placed an order for 6 mos of contacts, and left.As I trialed the contacts, I noticed that I still couldnt see well. I called the office to communicate that, and then went in.I repeated this on my visit and was given a weird look. I said that Id like to return the contacts that I had ordered.(Id thought to get a 2nd opinion elsewhere before spending my annual contact allowance.)I recounted this situation to a coworker, who urged me to seek out an opthalmologist for a 2nd opinion. (FWIW, I had an eye exam with the opthalmologist, where it was determined that I have cataracts in one [surgery] eye. They are severely progressed, and I needed surgery yesterday! surgery to have them removed.)Cataracts are a common side-effect of retina surgery. I had asked my surgeon, In what timeframe do I expect cataract progression? He said, anywhere from now until 10 years from now. Pretty big range.Im not a doctor, and when I visit one, I expect that they are knowledgeable and thorough in their area of expertise. During an eye exam and given my history, the doctor needs to check if Cataracts are happening.Cataracts happened, and Clarity Eye Care missed it.Two weeks ago, and before posting this review, I contacted Clarity Eye Care and asked to speak with the office manager. (She was very nice and seemed to take my concerns seriously, but based on the discussion, I question what medical expertise she truly has in this area.) She followed up with the doctor. What she relayed to me on our follow-up phone call was that she talked with him, he reviewed my chart notes, states the Rx that was prescribed was accurate, and states that there was no link between my exam experience (still not being able to see) and with the progression of cataracts in my affected eye.In short: the doctor denies any link and contends that cataract development happened after my exam at their office.Given my experiences at Clarity Eye Care, this simply does not seem plausible. They should have identified that I had a legitimate vision problem. Further, the doctor could have suggested I get a 2nd opinion if the scope exceeded his knowledge-base.To say that Im disappointed by my experience with the doctor at Clarity Eye Care, especially, is an understatement.And I still need at new opthalmologist, but thatll now have to wait until Im cleared following the past-due cataract surgery.

I usually dont write reviews but felt this was necessary. I went to Clarity because I recently moved in to the neighborhood and it is 5 mins away from me.I initially went to get my lenses changed and after I left the store I get a call from the staff accusing me in a rude tone as to why did I provide an expired prescription. I didnt realized at that time the prescription expired and neither did the staff at the time of my appointment. So I scheduled a eye exam with Dr. Hendricksons. I go in the next day and the staff doesnt greet me and does some basic eye exams on me all while making me feel as if they were doing me a favor.As a basic courtesy, your suppose to acknowledge the person who is giving you business but guess they dont care about certain people of color.On the other hand Dr. Hendricksons is knowledgeable and informative. He took good care of me and explained me on the type of lenses I would need so that I dont stress my eyes.Staff - 0/10Dr. Hendrickson - 10/10

Be careful of their surprise billing after the fact. They told my father its covered 100% from insurance. Months later they sent a $50/bill for a test that insurance didnt cover. They never told him what this test is and that he might have to pay for it. We called them during pandemic and left a message. They never called back but doubled it to $100 and now sent to collection. Its not fair to tell people one price and change it after that fact.

I had recently moved to Lombard with my wife and needed to find a new optometrist for me and my wife, and I thank God that I found this place. We went in for our regular visit and Dr H found some possible swelling of my wifes optic nerve and did some additional tests to investigate. One of the tests showed her left eye had some swelling in the back, so he sent us to the ER for some scans because of a very slight possibility it could be something serious. We ended up at the ER overnight and she had surgery the next day. It turned out she had a (non-cancerous) brain tumor that was pressing on the nerves. I HAD NO IDEA that an eye exam could detect such a thing. I cannot recommend Dr H and Clarity Eye Care enough.

They messed up my prescription. I went in several times to tell them them that something was wrong and I was told “As I’ve said before, you need to wear them for at least 2 weeks” and that my eyes would adjust. When I brought up a concern on a later visit that the glasses were giving me motion sickness while driving and that I couldn’t drive with them on, I was told “As I’ve said before, you need to wear them for at least 2 weeks”. It had been more than 2 weeks I believe. I was told that everything was correct, when it wasn’t; even after the glasses were inspected by the doctor. I have been wearing glasses my entire life and know when something is wrong. Fortunately/unfortunately I got busy with work and couldn’t afford the time to keep fighting over this. They said that lenses that made my vision curve down like a heavy shelf was normal, and to keep wearing them, when that was never normal for any other pair that I’ve ever owned in the entirety of my life. When I pull my glasses an inch or 2 away from my face everything levels out and looks like it should. I am disappointed that they missed this and are making me buy another pair of glasses from a competitor to correct this. I will not be returning because I will be loosing my insurance soon and won’t have the ability to bicker back and forward about this issue; and would just prefer to drive further to see someone I’ve had a good history with.

Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and professional. The doctor took his time and explained everything to me. I am actually looking forward to returning. Excellent patient care!

I prefer working with sole practioners when it comes to medicine and health. I felt relaxed and enjoyed my eye exam at Clarity Eye Care. Dr Hendrickson was very informative and explained the details of the results in a way that made sense. I felt confident that I got the right prescription and the eye glass selection was modern and stylish. I found two frames that I really liked. Great overall experience, special shout out to the customer care reps/opticians.

Dr. Hendrickson and his staff go above and beyond. I had my three kids with me for my appointment, which could have been a nightmare, but it went seamlessly with the help of his staff. My 7 year old also had an appointment, and he was patient and kind with her. Dr. Hendrickson is very knowledgeable and thoroughly explained the exams and treatments. I felt very comfortable with his high level of competency. This was hands down been the best experience at any doctors office. Will not hesitate to refer to this clinic!

The doctor was very nice and very patience he spend a good time with the examination.But there is no customer retention, after spending over $600 in glasses for two people, I did not receive a welcome package, or a least a lenses cleaner. The employee hand out our glasses asked us how we feel and thank us bye, bye.

This was a rare gem to find. I have just had the most extensive eye exam ever. The Dr. was awesome, took the time to explain things to me and was in no hurry to get me out of there. Dr. Hendrickson is excellent. He takes time to understand your symptoms and prescription challenges and explains your options thoroughly. He is easy to talk to and has deep experience in eye care matters. His staff is fantastic with follow-up and making sure that your wait is minimized. Great place, had an appointment that day even though it was the say before thanksgiving. The exam was the most extensive Ive ever had and the doctor actually figured out a problem Ive been having for the last decade and really went into detail with an eye model replica and had the new diagnosis incorporated into my new glasses and now the problem I was having is completely taken care of. Also, they knew my vision benefits better than my darn insurance company lol. I definitely will go to Clarity from now on and its 3 minutes away from my house compared to at least a 40 minute ride to my old Doctor.

I had eye discomfort and blurry vision all of the sudden, and I called to schedule an appointment in the morning after another doctor had given me one 14 days out regardless of how bad I felt. They were able to see me at 9:30am!!!! Thank you! thank you. What a change!!! The service was great, the doctor amazing and I received immediate relief! Recommended 100%

My name is Shawn, and my parents, Helen and Samuel recently had doctors appointments at the clinic. My father has severe glaucoma that has gone untreated for years, while my mothers eye sight is fairly well for a woman her age. Both are in their late 60s I felt the doctor could not have been better, or more kind and caring than our doctor was. He made them feel comfortable and explained exactly what the tests were for and what they can expect. And the staff were particularity sweet and helpful in assisting my parents in finding their medication at the best price possible. I was impressed, and greatly appreciated the doctor and staff handling of my parents. I could not possibly recommend this clinic more.

My 7 y.o. son and I have been going to Clarity Eye Care for the past couple years. During each visit I know we are in good hands. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Hendrickson is knowledgeable and very thorough in his exams. I recently fell asleep in my contacts and my eye became red and inflamed. Even though Clarity is about an hour drive for me, there was no way I would see any other eye doctor. He took care of it and needless to say my eye is back in shape. Thanks Clarity Eye Care. The clarity eye care is excellent place to do your glasses . Start from the optical Doctor and the techncians team. i did my glasses 2 times, the quality of the lenses are great, they are very honest. the doctor is profissional and very accurate. i tried before in Sears, wall mart and Costco. but i still use my glass that i did it in clarity eye care Lombard and the glass is like new . every year i change my vision glass and all the glasses that i got them from clarity care, i still use all. Go there with confidence and you will never regret.

The staff was nice, but the doctor was not. I brought my 4 year old son in for a check up because he was blinking his eyes and the doctor was extremely rude. He had NO patience for children. It was my sons first time and he did not explain anything to my son about what he should do, he expects a 4 year old to sit still and be absolutely silent. He copped a bad attitude when my son would look away from the screen.Switching eye doctors immediately.

Dr. Hendrickson is truly fantastic, after some recent issues, I trust no one more with my the care of my eyes! Personally I have seen him several times over the last 18mths and he absolutely knows his stuff. Dont let the little store front office sway you... Dr. and his staff are top notch! They have very modern exam equipment and it is not hard to get an appointment. Most importantly, he is extremely personable, patient and thorough with questions, best of all he does not rush you. I will be bringing my entire family there soon as well!

I usually dont write reviews, but after being so frustrated with my last couple of eye doctor visits, it was great to find Dr. Hendricksons office. First of all, Mandy was very friendly from the first call I made to the office. She helped me figure out my insurance benefits, never made me feel rushed at all. She was also the one to later help me find a great pair of glasses that complement my face well, and I never felt like I was being sold anything that I dont necessary need or that wouldnt benefit me. The exam was the most thorough Ive had, and I didnt feel like I was rushed through there like the last place I went. Its funny, because the last place made me feel rushed, but at the same time I had to wait forever to see the doctor. Here, the doctor did all the testing start to finish and explained every test. It feels good to find a place like this. I will be back, and so will the rest of my family.

At my appointment at Clarity this past Tuesday, I was very pleased with the time and patience that Dr. Hendrickson devoted to me. I think he sensed my anxiety after he revealed the results of my ocular tests and he was very quick to decide on my near future follow-up appointment in order to test and evaluate to if and what he could do for me to help my condition. I never envisioned writing a review for an eye exam, however, I feel obligated to do so after my experience. I called in to make an appointment, and the staff was cordial and informative. They answered all of my insurance questions and explained my benefits quite clearly. I decided to make an appointment and they were very accommodating with my schedule and had an opening the same week! When I entered Clarity Eye Care, the place was open and inviting. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the wait was less than five minutes. Dr. Hendrickson performed my eye exam, and I must say that it was THE MOST THOROUGH eye exam I have ever had. You can tell that he is meticulous and passionate about his work. It is rare to find health care providers that are genuinely concerned about their patients, and Dr. Hendrickson is just that. He answered all of my questions and concerns; he is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. I felt perfectly comfortable the entire time. I have been going to Clarity Eye Care in Lombard, IL for over two years. I have never had a loyalty to a Dr. until now.Dr. Hendrickson is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and friendly! I get these weird headaches above my eye that last about 20 minutes and no other Dr. was ever able to tell me what they were. Dr. Hendrickson knew right away that they are ocular migraines and he described them in great detail for me.He will answer every question or concern you have and never rush you out of the office.He has a passion for what he does and his dedication shines through in his work.It was also a breath of fresh air to see Mandy still working by his side. She is very friendly and has a vast knowledge on eye care, especially frames. Ive only purchased contact lens from here, but while in the waiting area I heard her describing frames to a man who was completely clueless and looking for guidance. She was able to help him pick out the perfect frame not only for his face, but for the lenses that he required.I would recommend Clarity Eye Care for anyone looking for a great eye doctor, and especially to anyone that has special concerns that require more than a basic appointment. I just had my first appointment yesterday, simply to get a replacement set of frames. The woman (I forgot her name...she must be an optometrist herself!) was extremely thorough and helpful. She went above and beyond the call of duty, and I have officially switched doctors from one with whom I was not happy at all, located in another town, to Doctor Hendrickson of Clarity Eye Care.

I had a very good experience here. Doctor is great, he diagnosed me when no other did in the past few years. I did not have to wait for long at the office. The Lens and Frame selection is good too. I would go back here.

The ladies at the front desk were very nice. The doctor was extremely rude once I told him that I wanted to get contacts through Hubble instead of through his office. He didnt even introduce himself or give me a report when he was done with all of my exams. I had to ask him for the results. He told me I would not be satisfied with Hubble contacts before he even gave me a chance to try on a pair. I would not recommend this eye doctor, unless you enjoy no communication.

Loved that you can book appts online and I was able to get one that day! And I could fill out all the necessary paperwork through ZocDoc so I could look up all the info I needed at home and not sit in the waiting area filling out forms. Both the doctor and the technician were very friendly and I liked that she had all my insurance benefits printed out in front of her so we could see all the benefits of getting glasses versus contacts, etc.

I had my annual eye exam with Dr. Hendrickson. I also made the conversion to contact lenses. They were very patient and thorough in helping me with the transition. I had a very pleasant experience, and I would recommend Clarity Eye Care to everyone.

Wrong prescription, glasses gave me a bad headache, went back twice all he told me my eyes will take a while to adjust. Meanwhile his staff kept calling me and harassing me about $30 I already paid, the office manager is condescending and totally rude.Get your accounting straight before you bother people and threaten with collection when you have already been paid.I went to another Optometrist who knows what he is doing and I finally got the right prescription. I would stay away from this clinic. I bet most of those positive reviews are paid for.

Rude staff and lack of communication.They push their products on you and make it very difficult for you to order your contacts through another (much cheaper, Walgreens) source.They have denied my prescription twice and were very rude when I called to clear it up. They have unapologetically delayed my contact orders twice for the mere fact that it was not ordered through them. I will never return here.

This is my fourth visit at Clarity Eye Care. As expected, I did receive a very detailed examination by Dr. Hendrickson and his staff and was very happy with the problem found with my left eye retina. I was then introduced to a specialist on retina issues on the same day which was very great. Dr. Hendrickson acts very professional and devotes plenty of time to examine his patient. Dr. Hendrickson and staff are awesome!

I cannot say THANK YOU enough to Dr. Hendrickson. I have been to many eye doctors over the years for what they always told me was chronic eye infections and I was always given an antibiotic eye drops, which didnt seem to help. Doctor Hendrickson discovered the true cause of my frequent eye pain, and after he treated me my eyes have felt AMAZING ever since.. I had never ever HEARD of demodex, but he knew immediately what was giving me the pain and knew how to fix it. I wont trust anyone else with my familys eyes.
