As an African American...I have never had a problem here. Theyre no nonsense and dont talk much.... kinda the way I prefer my transactions.Theyve always helped whenever I need help. Hell.. thats all I ask for.

This was my first time at a gun range so I dont have much to compare it to but it was an overall good experience. This place was busy. We had to wait awhile before we were able to pay. They had us sign waivers and then we picked out our ammo and targets. The target holders were made out of cardboard so they were a little flimsy but they did the trick. I bought the $1 ear plugs but they were definitely not enough to block out the noise. My ears were ringing all night so Id recommend getting a decent pair of ear plugs or headphones. They have a wide selection of guns and there was a diverse range of people there which I was glad to see.

Great customer service . Very friendly people. They will let you do layaway It makes it Easier on the payments. Most important the gunsmith is awesome

Great staff! This is my local go to place when it comes to indoor gun ranges. They have veteran discounts also. I would give it 5 stars but their lanes need an update.

Outdated as far as the range goes. High $55 FFL transfer fee as of November 2021. Will not be returning, due to much better options around, even though its down the street from me.

My boyfriend bought his first gun here. I accompanied him. The place was pretty nice. They have a great range and selection on guns. The staff was pretty rude. We almost left, but my boyfriend found a gun he liked. He bought it. It was his first time purchasing a gun. They were awful in the sense that they didnt explain anything to him. I had to explain the process and everything to him since I was already a gun owner and had an amazing experience with Ernies Arms Accessories.

Very nice shop and selection. I was buying my very first pistol and made the salesman aware (I believe his name was rek) he was very helpful in selecting a firearm that properly fit me. Thanks again guys !

Not sure how some people here felt they werent treated well. I have been to this location on 4 separate occasions and every single time I had nothing but a positive experience. All the staff are more than willing to help and very knowledgeable. The range is totally fine and they are fair with their inventory/prices. Booking range time on line was also really easy. Will for sure be a repeat customer.

I would give this place zero stars if I could. The staff is rude and prejudice. I have been to multiple ranges in the IL area and I have never felt so unwelcome. When I walked in, no one greeted me or asked if I needed assistance. If you’re a person of color, they automatically assume you aren’t there to buy anything. I decided to purchase 9mm ammo. I gave the man behind the counter my debit card and FOID and placed it politely in his hand. Once the transaction was complete, he threw both cards on the table and refused to place it in my hand. After that, he walked off and didn’t say anything. I will never spend my money here again and I suggest you don’t either! I can’t believe a little customer service is asking for too much.

I’m a USCCA instructor and I hold my classes literally 1.5 blocks away from another range. However, I always take my students to test at Article 2 because they are so accommodating to my larger class sizes. Today I tested 18 students and didn’t realize they closed when they did. Other ranges would have booted me out with 3 students left to test, but the gentleman in charge (named Ted) allowed me to stay a little bit longer and closeout the testing for the rest of the class. Very much appreciate the tremendous hospitality as I would have needed to come back with the 3 students who actually waited in line the longest to take their tests. Thanks again for always helping me out Article 2! It’s why I’ll continue to come back time and time again. You guys ROCK!👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Usually have great experiences here but this last one really put a sour taste in my mouth. Called to ask a simple question was told I’m not gonna answer that over the phone you need to google it..you just lost a customer and future referrals. Should never make a customer feel like they are wasting your time.

Great staff that knows their product. Loads of ammunition available in popular and more odd ball ammo. Realy cool guns that are hard to find in Illinois. Great for collectors and military historians but all types of firearms are available. Definitely worth a drive to see the many different firearms from all different eras.

THEIR BACKSTOP IS UNSAFE. When firing my .223 shrapnel came back and took out a florescent light more than half way up the range. The RSO asked us to move to the next stall, but we left for safety concerns. On my way out I asked to speak to the manager only to be told there was none. The guy at the counter said this is normal and ok, which is a lie. Their backstop is pitted and its a matter of time before shrapnel takes a lightly lower angle and hits someone. A responsible range would fix this, but they are not such a range.Safety issues aside this is the second dumpiest range Ive ever been to (Midwest being slightly worse). There was a visible fog downrange and the air was probably more sulfur than oxygen. The hangars for the targets are slow and the lanes themselves are really tight.I would avoid this range at all costs.

Ignore all the reviews about them being rude . Not sure what the heck they are talking about . This people here are awesome and friendly . Range is nice and well lit . Definitely will be coming back !

The older folks on staff are always very pleasant to deal with. The range is nicely sized with lots of lanes. Its also pretty well lit. Prices on ammo and the range fee are reasonable.

Very cool staff during my last visit. I was at the range trying sighting-in a new AR (not purchased here, I should note). I had a bad jamb that locked-up the rifle. Their gunsmith was quick to assist and to problem solve the issue. He provided his own magazine & rounds, which identified the magazine as the problem. He even let my use the rest of the remaining rounds & clip to finish sighting-in. Very cool, REALLY appreciated that. Article II is a great gun shop with knowledgeable & friendly staff. HUGE selection of firearms & cheap targets, as well. Thanks fellas!

Employee was very rude and prejudice when I called. When I came in he was still very rude and made a scene yelling that I was committing fraud simply because my address was not up to date on my foid although it was in process on the website. He also refused to allow me to fill out my background check paperwork, taking my personal information including paperwork with my social security number and refused to give it back. Individual also took off his mask at one point yelling which is against covid policy to be in public without a mask.

Came in late night, glad they were open till 10pm. Was looking around and they actually ask me if I need any help. They were very friendly (Rek&Ted) and actually was having a great conversation with both guys. and answering all my questions I had while i was buying my first gun. Back ground check was fast and paid the $50 + gun. The boss was kind of strict and not once did he even smile. overall experience was great. Will be back to buy another gun and cant wait to try out my new gun....

Ive been going to Article 2 periodically for about 5 years. When I went to use the range yesterday, I was planning on practicing my up drills in combination with double taps. Actual skills youll need when using your ar for home defence.The manager Anthony helped me at checkout, and I asked if I could practice the above. He gladly said yes! As me and my guest went to prepare to go into the range, I did the polite thing and reconfermed with the range officer. He.. Really didnt like that idea. He said to buy a training class if I wanted to do that and was angered when I asked if it was because of how crowed it was.With ammo being so expensive I decided not to waste my time and money, because Ive already shot the sights to zero and can hit the target at distance well (at an indoor range at least lol)When I went to get my refund I was a little heated thinking about the time I wasted in travel just to get there. On the way back I asked what the range officers name was. He said it was none of my business/Dan. Lol. I just said okay and went to Anthony. Anthony asked what was wrong and I told him what went down. He quickly fixed the problem and me and my partner when on to safely train as intended.Thank you Anthony for your support and service.Semper Fi.

Article II reminds me of a small town gun range/ shop. All the staff is willing to go the extra mile to help out with whatever you need. Went in last week for some target practice and when I came out my wife was purchasing a new gun. Signing up for the conceal carry class was a breeze. Multiple ranges and never crazy busy. Definitely recommend this gun range!

I cant believe theres a worse place to take your business? Extremely rude and quite ignorant! The range itself has poor lighting and ventilation is horrendous! Staff that runs the range are terrible at best. I will say Staff that was running the gun counters were polite and knowledgeable. With so many other options now, I would never give my money to these people.

Weve been here a few times with no problems, but after today I dont think well be back. Our first gun, a 22 revolver, wasnt discharging correctly and we got the range guy to help. But it kept acting up and we told the guy out front by the register what the problem was and he just put it back in the display for someone else to rent!! My husband then tried two other guns and both also had issues. Very disappointed in the quality of the rentals. The range guy was great, wish I caught his name though!

The range is excellent and the service has always been pretty good when Ive gone. They helped me out years ago in a way that most ranges/stores wouldnt and I still remember it well. Not a bad choice if you live in the area. Great range. Ammo is cheaper online, but w/e. Support your local 2a advocates.

Mostly pleasant people except for one man. He likes to put things on the floor and reprice them on inquiry saying they are not yet in the system. If its not for sale it should not be on the floor. It feels like he changes the price depending on the person.

Finally understand why this place has low reviews. Came yesterday with a groupon and our instructor Gregg was awesome. But we called this morning and was told if we wanted to rent a gun and shoot more to just come by. We get there and get told they are not renting 9mm at this time. Why didnt anyone tell me this on the phone. Then the people there have the audacity to argue with me and blame me for not knowing what they can or cant rent. What a joke. I would recommend the Groupon but for everything else stay away. Employees are cold and rude to people who are trying to get into the gun game.

Stay away from this place as possible. The staff is super rude and not helpful at all. I took my friend for his first time range experience and we felt so disrespected by the staff, that’s not the way you are supposed to treat anybody. Especially someone that is paying for a service! I had to apologize to my Friend for the awful experience. Take your money somewhere else where they will appreciate you as a customer and most importantly treat you with respect and dignity.

I was absolutely taken back by how rude and ill mannered the man at the front desk was. He wrote off every question I had, refused to be helpful in anyway and had a terrible attitude. I attempted to ask a different employee a question and he walked away. The only positive thing I have to say about the experience was the guy working in the range. He was helpful and pleasant to be around. Overall, the experience was terrible and we won’t be returning.

This indoor range is awesome. They have a wide variety of options and I really enjoy coming. The staff are friendly and patient and really are passionate about educating novice level and are a pleasure to talk to. The range allows you to shoot every caliber and there isn’t any funny fees like I have previously experienced cough* cough* (talking about you “Shooters Choice” in Dover DE, where they charge a $1 per hole for shooting the target holder) The booths are well lit and is all electrical and under your control with a switch that moves the target holder along a rail system to your desired distance.I’m writing this review bc I managed to really mess up the XDS attempting to swap out the sights. Came to the realization that half way into the rear sight installation this started turning into a nightmare as the kit became loose and started to scratch my entire upper slide really bad. Brought the firearm to “Article 2 shooting range” and allowed the professionals to take over. Honestly when I came the next day to pick it up I expected to see the horrific damage that I had done and to live with that forever. However when I was handed my firearm I was blown away at the customer service and the end product. The gun smith not only got the sights onto the gun, but he went the extra mile and removed the scratches and threw on a coat of paint. While a trained eye could make out the damage it was hard to notice and I was very delighted. Thank you so much to the gun smith and the workers responsible for making this nightmare into a pleasant experience.Really sorry for not remembering any names but the gun smith was a former Marine and I’m pretty sure he was the only one.

Bought a gun for 400. Called 3 times in next 2 weeks to see if my background check cleared. Every time they told me not yet, we will call you when it’s cleared, because we check every morning. After 1 month of waiting I went in to get my refund because I didn’t wanna wait anymore. They charged me $80 restocking fee and were rude on top of it. And ofcourse my background check cleared 2 weeks ago but nobody bothered to call.80 dollar restocking fee? You people are thieves. Screw you!

Clean range, store was well stocked and staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was lot was adequate as about 20 of us were there for a shoot. First time for me using their range. Their was not an attitude that is sometimes present in gun store staff .Update Feb 2021 he has some ammo 9 mm ball was $37 a box when online stores are $40-50 a box, limits you on how much you can buy so there is ammo available for others, price changes with each delivery he gets

Ive been to several ranges in the area. Article two stands out as a place where you know you will get the most knowledgeable staff, super friendly, clean, and offers a variety of options as far as rentals go. Good location right off the highway. When I come here I usually bring a friend to show them how to handle a firearm. Ive had people recommend Article 2 to me and now I am passing on a recommendation to you.

Range time was a smooth, simple process. Rented two firearms, again smooth and simple. I am in the market to purchase so in a business sense they could have tried a little harder to turn range time into a sale. Although, one glance at prices indicated I wasnt going to be browsing very long. Overall, good group of guys, everyone was polite and made sure we had fun. Will return and recommend.

Some of the rudest staff Ive ever encountered. I dont know who they think theyre talking to, but I will NOT be coming back. Basic manners? NOPE. Common courtesy? NOPE. They are doing you a favor just for talking to you.. an absolute joke of an establishment.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have never been disrespected as much as I was here. I waited in line to sign up for range time as I thought I should, only to be asked what I was waiting for by a rude staff member. The sign up sheet said to advise the employee if you were current or former military, which I am, when I told him he said, So? Again, trying to follow instructions and social norms. I get my receipt and I am told to see the guy at the other counter. He asks me who Im with, since apparently women cant shoot alone. I very calmly said I was there alone. This oh so friendly man asks me what I did to get a discount. At this point I should have just walked out but I told him that I served my country. He proceeded to hand me the wrong targets and continue to treat me like a idiot. I have been shooting since I was a kid, I have been to plenty of ranges, never have I ever felt so uncomfortable as a woman shooting. I will never step foot in this joke of an establishment again.

Great range to practice with a new gun or to keep up with shooting skills. Would recommend coming here if you’re a newbie (like myself) who wants to practice shooting in a comfortable, relaxed, and engaged facility. The staff is super knowledgeable on guns (as I would hope) and always willing to help assist in any way they can.

The staff is very helpful. There are some older employees that arent the friendliest, but what else would you expect from a gun range. The range is pretty good, the guns are good. Article 2 is much better than some other ranges in the area.

Very helpful in all my dealings with them. I first went for an introductory firearm class. The instructor was so helpful and gave us plenty of time and answered our questions. Ive also rented out part of the range for a group shooting activity. Again, they were extremely helpful and accommodating. Id go again any time.

OK first off, this man is as nice as they come....Second, Never met anyone that would be as helpful and as respectful as he is! Fair pricing and always a good time

My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and appreciate the time we spent with our instructor, Jay. Jay was professional, courteous, and put my wife at ease. This sort of situation can be very intimidating, and make a person nervous. Even for people who have shot before. Jay helped keep the whole activity fun, and enjoyable, while maintaining the proper seriousness needed.My wife had purchased the Range Time as a birthday gift for me. I generally do not enjoy in-door ranges.I have to admit that after reading many of the comments on line, I was expecting the worst. We were both pleasantly surprised. You have a very clean, well lit facility, and all the staff we dealt with were friendly, and polite.The one big turn off I experienced was on my one phone call. I had called to ask a question, and the gentleman who answered simply asked if I had visited the website. When I replied that I had, his response was Good, then you saw that all questions are answered through e-mail. and then hung up on me. Not a good first impression.Based on my one-time visit, I would recommend this facility to a friend.

Came here to look a fora R.C.O or a sight for my new rifle. The gentenman that helped was extrmely rude. When i asked questions about a sight he told me either you buy it or you can leave. Never will i spend my money at this establishment.

The overall quality of the shop is nice. They have a nice selection and OK prices. I have been in there a few times to shoot and the range is nice. I found that if they were busy that they were kind of jerks and did not really offer there assistance and were more focused on making a sale then satisfying your needs. This is not a bad gun shop but there are better ones in Lombard that i would prefer over Article II

I think three stars is reasonable for Article II. As far as a range goes their ability to use long guns is a huge plus. Finding a location to shoot rifles in upstate IL is tough at best. Being 25 yards makes it very limited, but for testing new modifications or short distance zeros its a goldmine. The wait times are ridiculous though and there always seems to be a a range or two closed which given the demand I think is a bit silly. They are definitely over priced for your enthusiast or someone who likes to constantly work on their skill. Paying $20 per person is not affordable for your average person. If you have an advanced shooter for example who is trying to teach a novice basic safety and handling skills and you are sharing the single firing lane they will charge you the full price for each person, making it tough for a new shooter to even want to get involved.The gun store itself has a very nice selection, if not a bit over priced. Staff friendliness seems to depend on the day. Sometimes theyre fantastic, sometimes its next to impossible to get a smile. They also advertise that there is a full time gunsmith who is available, but if you actually ask someone theyll tell you that hes a private contractor who shows up when he wants to and that they have no control over that. Given the fact that theyre the only shop in the area anymore I think this attitude is unacceptable. I understand supply and demand but it is definitely not the way to go about it.Overall Id say they earned the 3 stars, but thats because the cons are balanced out by the fact that the shop/range has such a uniqueness and availability you cant find anywhere else this side of I-80.
