Sam Ash is my go-to spot for any and all needs for guitars and drums. The two people that were working in guitars on Saturday night (10/30) were extremely helpful and easy to talk to. So many times when going to a music shop youll encounter snobby workers who have no interest in what theyre selling and even less when it comes to assisting customers. Not these two. They were fantastic and spoke to me as if I were their friend. I really appreciate that. My only regret is that I wish I would have caught their names.

We stopped in for the first time to pick up a guitar book for my 8-year old son, and were pleased with the attentive and friendly service. Good selection of equipment, instruments, accessories and music. Thanks to Junos helped, we not only got the guitar book we came for, but also a piano book and piano bench, and my son got to jam on some electronic drum sets. Overall a really positive experience, and in future well be sure to shop here as opposed to some chain stores.

My first time into the Lombard Sam Ash to get band supplies for my clarinet player. The salesperson, I believe her name was Jayce, was incredibly helpful in identifying which supplies on the list were relevant to my child. The store had in stock the books needed and the correct size of reed. I didn’t have to order online or through the school recommended supplier, which was more expensive. Great people, great service, conveniently located, and more affordable.

I came into Sam Ash because I was experiencing an equipment issue, and needed a restring on my 7-string. The equipment issue had basically gone away by the time I walked into the store and ultimately realizing it was partially user error, my sales associate Hanna Janis was very patient with me. We moved on to the guitar, and since it was a slower day, she helped me with setting up my guitar (I was transitioning to a new string gauge because I wanted to tune down two whole steps to G-Standard. This was no small feat and quite an involved process as it has a locking nut and Floyd Rose floating bridge (naturally). It also needed a truss rod adjustment (in addition to the springs inside for the bridge). Due to the nature of the bridge, there was a lot of string clipping involved. We ultimately went through mixing and matching the wound strings from one set, and unwound from a slightly thicker set. Hanna went above and beyond in her duties and was just a generally cool person. And we spent the whole time talking about everything music. Absolutely loved working with her. Totally awesome experience and will be coming to her for all my music needs. I should also mention that although I didn’t catch the other associate’s name, she was also very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable 😊

First off customer service was great, laid back, and exceeded my expectations.I was able to trade in two bass guitars that I havent been getting much use of. The rate you get back is about 50/60 percent of its worth. I was able to get two electric guitars with the trade in, two completely different brands I didnt own. Truthfully I know I could have resold for more via private sale, but the business needs a way for profit so I get it. The customer service was great, they answered any questions I had. Really just let me get a feel on a lot of different instruments. I wanted to get a feel of some different brands and so far Im pleased.

Called the cops on my little brother because they thought he stole a guitar. What really happened was that he came in for lessons, lesson was cancelled and he walked out carrying the guitar he walked in with. Rather than say something to him they called the cops on him and he was pulled over in front of his house, handcuffed and brought back to the store, only to find out that the guitar he supposedly stole was sold earlier that day.

Had a really great experience at Sam Ash the other day. I came in looking for some speakers and mics, Danny helped me, figured out what I needed performance-wise and worked with the budget I had. After a quick listen, I was happy with what he recommended and bought them on the spot. He had to custom order 2 of the mics and all the pricing on everything was already as good as anywhere else on line. Highly recommend.

Lombard store = Right on the beat.. Had a problem with a chord, they exchanged it. Had a question about a hook up to a PA = they got me the right part to operate it. All good . SHADOWMAN

Came in for the first time looking to buy some studio headphones. Talked to Danny who was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a ton of useful information to help me decide which set to pick up. This place was actually on my way home from my local Guitar Center that I had just left disappointed and I’m so glad I stopped in. Highly recommend this place. As usual, we went to Sam Ash in Lombard today and had a great experience. The salesman there are always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Unlike some other music stores, they actually encourage you to try out instruments, and provide useful information without being overbearing. While we miss a few of the former associates, the store still has many good people with tons of experience. Going to Sam Ash is something our family always looks forward to!

Im really looking forward to my next lesson.

I had a Great experience!. Building a new bass rig. I went through several bass heads before Bobby took me aside asked what I wanted in my sound and recommend just what I was looking for!!!. This is probably my favorite music store to go two. The individuals that work there are all pretty chill and genuinely want to help you in any way they can, even if thats giving you space and time to oogle everything and anything I fancy. Theyre always quick to provide honest opinions and good suggestions. Feels more like a local mom-and-pop shop with the product selection and diversity of a large corporate chain.

They were very helpful and friendly. I had to return a guitar I purchased from the website. No problem at all. I also purchased a Fender from the store, being lefty I was lucky they had the one I was looking for.I am a beginner and they treated me with total respect and they were both very helpful.I had a bad experience with Guitar Center and would always come back here.

This is for the Lombard, Il location. The guys there were VERY helpful and boy, do they know their stuff! When I picked up the guitar I ordered, the gentleman went out of his way to make adjustments so it would be ready to play. I cant wait for my son to receive it on Christmas!! I always prefer shopping here as opposed to the other big music store in the area. The level of customer service you receive at Sam Ash is top notch. Not to say I haven’t had good experiences down the street but never like I receive at Sam Ash. I can’t think of a single time I’ve ever walked out of here feeling unsatisfied. They take the time to answer all of your questions in a friendly manner. Most times going above and beyond what you’d expect from workers who have a room full of customers. I wish they had a bigger used guitar department but other than that if I’m looking to buy anything, I’m always going to stop here first.

I called and ordered a full acoustic guitar setup as a gift for my brother. My sister in law picked everything up. The experience was smooth and the rep who helped me (Jason) was knowledgeable and very helpful. Would definitely shop there again.

I have been going to this specific Sam Ash location since I was 16 years old. Despite moving further away, I still go to this store and buy all my musical equipment from them. I also get my guitars tuned up here about every 6 months. Chicago Joe is an incredible technician.Sam Ash also has a large variety of used gear that is in good shape. I just bought a used Fender Jazz Bass Guitar here for $100. What a great deal.I cant emphasize how great of an atmosphere and group of staff this Sam Ash location has had for over a decade. Incredible service, good deals, and an all around great experience every time.

I sent to Sam Ash to purchase C.F Martin strings for my acoustic guitar. I knew they had a special event going on at the Roosevelt store. .The staff were great. And Chicago Tony installed the strings, tuned the guitar and adjusted it as well. I went to pay for it and there was no charge due to the special they were sponsoring that day. I feel Tony went above and beyond. I was very pleased with their genuine interest in the guitar and my learning to play the instrument. Tony made it a great experience. I recommend Sam Ash and will go back again.

Salesman was good and quick,but when I asked if he could through in a new set of strings it was like I asked for way too much! What happen to the good old days when the store would give you some free stuff,strings,strap, cheap cord and some picks,I just wanted some new strings,I dont think that was too much to ask!

Horrible customer service, sold me a guitar worth over 600 dollars they say it was on special for 377 dollars never told me why I did not notice the damage I got home try tuning it and I noticed a crack and the tunner off the guitarWent back they try to blame it on me asked me if Ive dropped it told the how I just bought this! told me they did not have the same guitar they wouldnt be able to honor the price so they just return my money and showed me the door like nothing happened. Be carefull they will sell you damage products and not even tell you.Dont go there.

My friend and I stopped in last weekend. He was looking for some information about a used guitar he had recently acquired. We were impressed by the level of customer service we received! All of the staff we spoke to were friendly and accommodating, but Tony in particular was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He restrung the guitar and made it shine like new. I came in around a month ago looking for a bass because I was getting back into playing and when I walk in Im immediately greeted by Marshall and let me say Marshall is awesome he helped me with everything I needed and answered all my questions like a guitar master. Good evening!Our experience with David Aburto at Sam Ash in Lombard, Illinois was most pleasant; everything hoped for.I had called the store after work on Thursday evening in anticipation of making an immediate trip with my wife and daughter to explore violins on hand and make a purchase.It would be a surprise outing for them, and a first-time purchase for us — our daughter is interested in learning to play the violin.After sitting in my truck in the parking lot of the place of my employment and calling several musical instrument stores who only had one or no violins presently on hand I came across Sam Ash’s website and was consequently introduced to David. Theyre doing alot of moving around during the quarantine...I couldnt find any stomp boxes or those bass ukuleles with the rubber strings. But, theyre our hometown resource.

Ive been coming here for a few years since i live right by lombard but recently there was a pretty bad smell in the store i remember was there last year and between that and covid i just dont think its worth my time until its fixed! staff seemed to have no idea about it or if it will be fixed but i dont know how they can stand it all day.

My daughter is enrolled in instrument lessons at the Lombard location. The staff has been amazing especially Heidi who runs the lessons. Her communication and ability to work around my daughters ever changing schedule has been fantastic. She has been enrolled in lessons before but Sam Ash in Lombard has been the best experience we have ever had. Thanks to Heidi.

I visited the Lombard, Illinois store. When you first walk in it’s similar to a guitar center, tons of gear, customers jamming, etc..It’s the employees that make this store special. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly. HUGE shout out to Tony. If you’re looking for a Les Paul, he’s your guy!I will drive the two + hours from my home to visit this store again! Every employee I spoke to was excellent. Great culture at this location. A+++

Very accommodating store. Purchased an electric guitar for our daughter and they were very helpful. Not sure if it was the owner who helped us out but his customer service was sensational. Felt well taken care of and our purchase was on the smaller side. So good on him.

My son and I used to go exclusively to Guitar Center for years. But they have kind of gone downhill in our opinion in the last 5 years or so. We recently tried Sam Ash for the first time about a year and half ago and we both had great experiences there. He bought a couple of new guitars and I just bough a new keyboard. There seems to be people available to ask questions and they are knowledgeable about the products. So our overall experiences there have been great so far! We will keep coming back.

I stop by, occasionally, on my lunch break. Every one is so polite and ready to engage! Your guitars have a great variety! They have good strings. Mostly, when Im ready to buy, Ill return because of the guys like Tony and Bobby! They recognize me. They dont have to remember my name...but they do. They know Im usually on a break and think its cool I stop there. When Im ready to make a purchase beyond picks and accessories... it will be because of Tony and Bobby! Great feel at the store!

Nate was super helpful with helping me pick out an audio interface and he was super cool to talk to. Pro audio here is great. I also got my guitar set up here a couple months ago and it was awesome. Cannot recommend this store enough

Great experience with one small exception. There are two stores in my area and the closer one showed it out of stock, but when I stopped at that location to pick up something else after placing the order they had at least one.Overall it was a good experience. They were quick to communicate and when I got to the store they were ready.

My son was looking for a 7 string guitar. Sam Ash was the only local store that had a good selection. Employees were available but not pushy and prices matched on-line options.

Employees are super helpful and friendly. Come here with my friends all the time and always end up staying longer and having a good time. Nate was super helpful and did everything he could to make sure I had a great experience.

Adam provided valuable assistance in determining that the turntable I had was not working properly and that it would not be worth it to repair it. The speakers I had purchased from you a year ago were not the problem and work fine. I ended up buying a PT01 Touring turntable at a very reasonable price. Adam and others were easy to work with and explained everything to my satisfaction. Adam also offered to show me how to digitize my LPs on to my computer.

We brought our 5 year old granddaughter in to purchase her first guitar. Bobby directed us to the appropriately sized quality instrument. He very kindly taught our little one how to hold and strum the guitar. She felt like a rock star when she left and is enthusiastic about more lessons.

I had called Sam Ash on Sunday and spoke with Jason; I was unable to make that day. So I called back to see when Jason would be in because I wanted Jason to get the commission on the purchase. I like the fact that Jason was very knowledgeable and assisted my great nephew and I with our music needs. Courteous staff. This stores inventory has been depleted due to COVID-19 like most music stores.

I live in the western suburbs, and the Lombard store is about 30 minutes from my house, and by far the best stocked store for me to shop. I am reluctant to buy things online that delivery drivers can crush. Delicate things like instruments are best tried in person. This store features the better brands, wide selection, good prices, and helpful clerks.

Bought a used trumpet for my son and was told to come back for missing parts. We were promised it will be fixed next time we came back. The next two days we came back but parts were not arrived yet. And our contact person that day (Andy) mentioned that it will take 6-8 weeks to have it fixed.But then, even before we said anything, Andy came up with quickly and surprising respond... He went to the backroom and he came back with a BRAND NEW trumpet!!!!!!! My sons jaw dropped....when he was told hell be given a brand new trumpet.What an AMAZING service!!! Definitely we will make this our store!

Nice store, friendly sales reps but way off on their knowledge of what they are selling, kept assuring me the used Guild acoustic I purchased was a late 70s early 80s model said the manager had checked serial # after looking it up this model was manufactured from 1992-2001 and this one seems to be a 1997 model great guitar not too beat up, but not a 1970s or 1980s model. Thats why I gave 4 stars

Lessons are available on-site and Chicago Joe dose decent guitar setups and is very knowledgeable and helpful. A great place for any music enthusiast. I went to Sam ash in Lombard, Illinois just to check an amp for my guitar (after coming from guitar center) and I met a gentleman named Zach and ask him for a certain amp, right away he stopped what he was doing and lead me to that certain item that I was inquiring, then I told him what guitar center was giving me that item for although they dont have it on stock Zach told me that he can match it, not only that he gave me a form to send to manufacturer for rebate, wow liking it that service, that iexperience.now I know where to get my music stuff. This place has fantastic service! I enjoy working with the staff more then any other big music store. They are friendly, well versed and personable. Hodario in audio was awesome to work with. He was willing to talk about options and techniques to finding a great sound for indie artists. This is a Great place that builds trust with its customers. Time and time again they are willing to help you find what you are looking for and NOT trying to clear their shelves for future inventory.

This is more a review on this locations luthier for those looking to upgrade or repair an instrument. Chicago Joe is one of the best in the business if youre looking to upgrade an instrument. He was so helpful and friendly and made my Tele sound and play amazing. Cant recommend enough.
