What a wonderful shop.I was about to hit checkout on my amazon cart filled with herbs but then i thought I should look locally first, and Im glad I did.I searched herb store on google maps and skipped all of GNC stores to find something special, a place that sells local organic fresh ingredients with exact use and treatments.This shop is what a medicine shop is supposed to be:- knowledgeable staff- huge, huge herb selection- explaination of use and treatments- books and educational material- oils, tinctures, jars, soaps- i wish i had time to look at everything while i was there.What you got? Constipation, light sleep, quitting smoking, cough?Just ask and they will help you understand why something works and the science behind which is the active chemical alkaloid.I drove under an hour to get here and ill do it again.She had the freshest locally farmed source herbs, even showed me the differences between the colors and variety.Buying herbs off the internet from a random source...what was I thinking.Now Im only going here.I dont know the staff or any of the community around this store. Im not into chakras or spiritual stuff, I just want to poop and sleep better with some good tea.

Turned out to be a great local neighborhood herbs & naturals shop. There was a wide array of herbs, some I hadnt heard of. Went in to find a decongestant oil & the woman there was knowledgeable about all the questions I asked about items. She even gave me a sample of herbs to try out, and let me know multiple ways it could be used. Then shared some love with my dog as well. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back again soon.

Complete nubbie to herbalism studies, but not to chemistry, anat & phys, biology..... I am impressed with the ability of Julie to articulate these disciplines in her herbalism classes. It is for real real medicine....astonished and in love.

Ive been working with Julie as a client, colleague and apprentice for 13+ years now. She is my go to herbalist. I recommend her to friends and clients. I trust her and have not met another more passionate, knowledgable and dedicated herbalist​ in our area. I worked with her while trying to boost my fertility and regulate my hormones. Happy to say I have a 3 year old budding herbalist in my care. Julie is so knowledgeable, passionate and honest. I highly recommend her for all your herbal needs and now she has her own side to host classes once again. Please support this gem, such a blessing to have here in Long Beach.

Julie James is an amazing human being!I have been taking classes with her since 2010 and my health and that of those around me, has improved dramatically. I was delighted when she opened her storefront in Long Beach. It is a growing space, nurturing the students and clients...growing with the needs, interest and support of her community. If you are just beginning to learn about herbs or are a long time herbalist, you will be delighted with a visit to this location and I can pretty much guarantee you will learn something new when you come by.Classes, herbs and other materials, books, and products by a variety of herbalists; this and more is what you will discover. And if you need a consult on a nagging health issue, there is probably an herb or protocol that can support your path to a healthier you.

Simply the best. Julie is an amazing plant educator, Herbalist, and engaging human being that will not only keep you interested, possibly playing, but wrap your head around more academic insights that you... and I mean me, may have found daunting if not impossible, before.I LOVE this space. Monday Plant Meditations, when I can make them, are more engaging than a cup of Joe. Although I do have my cup before driving out from LA. Yes, Ill drive an hour in traffic to sit down at the Green Wisdom Herbal Studios, on a Monday morning, to have fun and get educated about plants.Its SO worth it. I envy the local who could simply walk over.Ive seriously eyeballed the other, longer, educational series such as the apprentice program. Word to the wise, they fill up fast! And you may end up waiting until next year to sign up.Fun workshop space. Youre going to get your hands, nose, fingers, brain, heart, and senses involved in really great learning experiences.Oh and I almost forgot to mention the product. The result of the herbal playshops, Julies work, and what you can make are on a shelf above others. I walked away with a Lemon Balm extract in glycerin, originally for my pet, and used it for some sleepless nights. wOw. The spirit of the plant is gentle, the energetics are first perking and then sedating into restfulness. I am swift-footing away from corporate/mass production with a single real natural herbal experience here, because you can feel the difference.Get on down there and enjoy yourself! you will.
