Amazing non-profit. Great place to build or repair a bicycle on the cheap. THIS PLACE DOES NOT SELL BICYCLES. All purchases are tax deductible. Call ahead to make sure they are there (it’s an all volunteer staff!) They generally don’t sell parts without you having your bicycle with you, but once they know you’re not flipping the they will. They also host community events.

This place is great. You know the saying give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a life time? Well thats what the bicycle kitchen is about it: you work and fix your bike yourself. It was my first time there and I was excited when they told me how the place works. For seven bucks.an hour ( you pay what you can afford) I was lucky enough to get Edwardo as my guide/teacher/helper. He was patient engaging and knows a lot about bikes. They have used as well as new bike parts for sale at a discount. Great place highly recommend to visit them.

Definitely the place to go when your bike repairs are needed that can be done yourself. Especially if you work during the day (like I do) because they only open in the evenings and most bike shops are already closed. Especially enjoy the fact that it is Do-It-Yourself (DIY) community.

It was closed and looked like a sketchy neighborhood. . . It was hard to see the entrance (I drove around the bldg.) as it was behind bars and I think you have to be buzzed in? It was sposed to be open (Sunday) but had to close for??? Inventory? Lots of/most oc the businesses all had bars on them 🙄 😖 street parking only and not very many places to park

I have been going there for a few years. First time on a Thursday night. Will also be last time on a Thursday night. I assume when a suggestion is made to resolve an issue hopefully there will be some assistance. I was only asked to move to the side I was blocking someone from getting to the parts. I use to really like this place. Now it seems unless youre somebodys bro, youre on your own.

I went to the Bicycle Kitchen looking for replacement parts for my bike that I had built last summer. While this is a great workspace with tons of used parts available, the atmosphere there still suffers from the elitist attitudes that plague most of the cycling community. The girl I talked to was so certain that I did not know what I was doing that she wouldnt even sell me the parts I wanted to buy. So instead of walking out happy that I would be able to fix my bike and get back on the road, I left feeling like I had been treated like a child by some snarky, condescending hipster.
